Just a heads up, Olivia Benson knows how to speak in Hungarian. She wants her son to learn the language, so part of this will be in Hungarian. As always, English translations are bolded:) Enjoy
Queens Hospital
Olivia got to the hospital in record timing. It was actually miraculous that she wasn't pulled over. I mean, who would blame her? This miracle of life was gonna become part of her reality. She arrived to the hospital, and took a seat in a less-than comfortable chair.
"Olivia Benson?"
"That's me."
"Come with me."
The birth had gone smoothly. Benson however, was sad to see that the birth parents had left. They must of wanted to not feel guilty , concluded Olivia. She was still very much appreciative that they had chosen her. At the meeting, she promised the birth parents that they are always welcome to come and visit.
She strongly believed that it was vital, that her son grows up knowing his birth parents even if now she was the sole caretaker of this precious miracle of life. She spent months getting his nursery set up, even moving houses or lack of a better word apartments, into a house. Olivia wasn't rich, but she also wasn't complaining about how much her job paid. She obsessed over possible colors, but decided on a light gray, that way when the time came, her son could easily switch up his bedroom. There were accents of the beach, one of her favorite places to go. She even found a way to record bed time stories for Noah, that the nanny could easily put on for him, whenever she got held up with a case, or even when she was unable to be there.
"Olivia meet Noah."
The moment Olivia saw him, she fell in love with him. The innocent child melted her heart. She teared up and said "Szia angyalom. Olivia Benson vagyok, az új anyukád. Annyira szeretlek drága angyal".(Hi my angel. I am Olivia Benson, your new mommy. I love you so much precious angel.)
The nurse however, saw what had unfolded. She never learned a language before. She was so in awe watching Olivia talk to her son in Hungarian, that she could not help but tear up herself.
"Excuse me, but were you speaking Hungarian?"
Olivia thought it was sweet that someone was so interested in the language.
"Yes. My grandfather is from Hungary, and my mother is from Italy. I am actually fluent in 5 languages."
"That's so cool!"
She gave her a small smile. The nurse excused herself, allowing the mother and son to bond. Olivia wanted her son to learn the language. Sure English was a great language, but she wanted him to know multiple languages. Before joining the academy, Olivia was a teacher in Hungary, teaching kids how to speak English.
After filling out his discharge papers, she was free to take him home. Walking out of that hospital with the biggest smile adorning her face, she felt like the luckiest woman in the whole world. After so many prayers, and hoping, God graced her with this child- The most perfect baby to ever grace this world. She pretty much owed her gratitude to God.
Being captain amidst this worried Olivia slightly. After much consideration and practical begging by Fin, she finally decided to leave him in charge. After all, she trusted him with her life. She remembered to call Fin, because if he found out that she didn't call him, she knew she was in for some "Fin Straight Talk."
"Sergeant, and temporary person in charge."
"Fin it's Olivia."
"Baby Girl! How is he?"
"He's great. He is really adapting good to his new surroundings. He is asleep in his Bassinet at the moment. And I am over here sipping my red merlot and watching OUTLANDER. Mothering, it turns out, is not hard at all."
"Hahaha. You know it gets harder right?"
"Of course I knew that. Shut up Fin, you asshole. Let me just enjoy my momentary peace, before he starts going all teenager on me." Olivia tried desperately to sound annoyed but ended up laughing.
"Love you too Liv."
"Oh speaking of which... Do you like my new greeting?"
"Yeah, its nice but let me emphasize that it is TEMPORARY."
"Okay women"
"I've got to go, we have this sick prick on our hands. Say hi to little man for me."
"Will do, Bye Fin"
"Bye Olivia."
Olivia got Noah to bed fairly easily. She decided to sing him a little song that her grandpa used to sing to her. It went something like this:
"Kis madár, kis madár repül az ablakomon,Kis madár, kis madár repül az ablakomon,Kis madár, kis madár repül az ablakomon,És vegyél melasz cukorká üljön át az ablakomon, a cukorcsomóm,Repüljön át az ablakomon, a cukorcsomóm,És vegyél melasz cukorkát.Kék madár, kék madár repül az ablakomon,Kék madár, kék madár repül az ablakomon,Kék madár, kék madár repül az ablakomon,És vegyél melasz cukorká üljön át az ablakomon, a cukorcsomóm,Repüljön át az ablakomon, a cukorcsomóm,És vegyél melasz cukorkát."(Little bird, little bird flying through my window,Little bird, little bird flying through my window,Little bird, little bird flying through my window,And buy molasses candy.Fly through my window, my lump of sugar,Fly through my window, my lump of sugar,And buy molasses candy.Blue bird, blue bird flying through my window,Blue bird, blue bird flying through my window,Blue bird, blue bird flying through my window,And buy molasses candy.Fly through my window, my lump of sugar,Fly through my window, my lump of sugar,And buy molasses candy.)
"Good night my precious angel. Mama loves you so much."
Closing his door softly, she whispered,
"Szeretlek."(I love you).
He truly was her sweet baby in blue.
