Sitting around the table, eating their take out, laughing and enjoying life as it is, the group feels perfect. This is it, thought Sheldon. This is how everything has to be, and this is perfect. He could honestly say he felt emotional. For once, he wanted to explore them—the emotions.
Amy couldn't have imagined her life any better, either. Raj felt lonely sometimes, seeing how all of his friends got married and they started families. But he knew he would always be able to go to them. It was all he wanted and needed, just like Penny thought about the baby that was on its way.
Their peaceful moment came to an end when Sheldon's phone started ringing. Giving it a questioning look, he picked up.
"Hello?"
"Yes, hello! Am I speaking to dr. Sheldon Cooper? You went to our high school, and I would love to pass by and discuss something if I may!"
"Okay" was all Sheldon answered cause he didn't know how to respond.
"Can I speak to you tomorrow? In your office? And bring your wife if you can! Thank you!" The man on the phone hung up.
"Well that was rude, he didn't even say what time he would be there," Sheldon exclaimed.
"Who was it?" Amy asked, putting her take out aside.
"I don't know." Sheldon put his phone back in his pocket. They all gave him confused looks.
"How can you not know?" Leonard said.
"He didn't say his name."
"Then what did he say?" Amy went in again.
"That he was from High school, I went too and wanted to visit me to discuss something tomorrow, and you should be there too. Are you busy tomorrow? I don't know what time he comes, cause he also didn't say that."
"Sheldon I can't be in your office for a whole day tomorrow."
"Why not?" Amy didn't know how to respond and what was not going to trigger any disadvantageous reaction when she said it. So instead she kept quiet and just thought.
"Call me when he arrives, and I just run to you." Sheldon nodded. He was okay with that.
The rest of the evening went as planned and like it always went. Everyone went home. Bernadette and Howard wanted to see Halley and Michael, but when they arrived, they were already asleep. So they decided they would wake up early the next morning and call work so that they would be spending the whole day with them. Howard took one last look in their rooms before leaving to get some sleep himself.
NEXT MORNING
"Halley, daddy is home baby, wake up" Howard softly let his hand slide on halleys back. She stirred a little, so Howard did it again. Halley slowly opened her eyes and started rubbing them.
As soon as she saw Who it was, she jumped up in excitement.
"Daddy!" She yelled. Howard hugged her.
"Daddy missed you so much."
Next to them, Bernadette held Michael, who was still half asleep—but smiling because they were there.
"Hi, Halley!" She waved to her daughter who immediately stuck her hands out cause she wanted to be held by her. They switched kids and went down to have breakfast.
"Promise never to leave again" Halley squealed in her baby way.
"I won't. Now, what do we want to eat? Cause today we're going to have some fun and we can't have that with empty stomachs, do we?" Bernadette said while putting Halley on the ground. Excited and jumping around the house like she wasn't sleeping 5 minutes ago, Halley yelled "cereal!"
"Calm down, baby. You're going to hurt yourself." Howard left Michael next to his sister on the ground to help Bernadette prepare breakfast.
Sheldon was already at his office, waiting for the unknown man to arrive. It was only 7 am. Amy was there with him, her head on his desk. She was tired as hell. Sheldon kept her awake last night, he was yelling in his sleep, he hated being unprepared like he was now.
"I can't be working, right? What if he comes in and steals my ideas?" Sheldon asked. Amy didn't respond.
"Amy?" He turned around,
"Amy?" He said again. She shot up.
"I am here!"
"I can see that." She sighed and stood up.
"I should go, just... do what you think is right Sheldon." with that she wanted to leave, but he stopped her.
"You okay? Did I do something?" He sweetly asked. Sighing, she just shook her head.
"No Sheldon, I am just tired, that's all. I see you at lunch or when the guy from High School arrives, okay?" she gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and left.
Sheldon went to his chair, not knowing what to do, so he decided to just stare at the door for a while, patiently waiting for the mysterious man to arrive.
To his surprise, it didn't take long at all. At 9 am, there was knocking at his door.
Sheldon stood up and opened it. A small, very muscular man stood there smiling.
"Dr Cooper! How nice to meet you!" He stuck out his hand. Hesitatingly Sheldon did take it.
"Come on in." He said, and so the man did. He seated himself in front of Sheldon's desk. He was about to close the door when he realized, Amy wasn't there yet.
"Excuse me for a second sir." He went into the hallway, quickly dialling Amy's number, telling her to come over.
Penny was waiting in the waiting room. Today was her gynaecology appointment, Leonard could be here any second now. They were extremely excited, especially Leonard. He always wanted to be a father. Penny was happy to be able to turn him into one. She had her doubts but now that time was there, she didn't mind. They would do a great job, the most exciting thing? She couldn't wait for them to tell Sheldon he would become the godfather, only thinking about what his face would look like, made penny giggle.
"Am I still on time?" Leonard asked nervously, settling down next to Penny, interrupting her thoughts.
"Yes, you are honey" she winked.
"Someone is in a good mood today." He smiled. Penny opened her mouth but didn't get any chance to say anything. The doctor called them in.
Raj took cinnamon for a walk and decided to make it a long one, to Howard and Bernadette. Poor cinnamon became slowly older. It's typical of course, but you could start to see the signs of it. It pained him a lot to see her get weaker. What would he do without his beloved cinnamon? He sighed and tried not to think about it. Today was all about Halley and Michael. Not his sob story of losing cinnamon one day, that was inevitable. So he kept walking, feeling relaxed actually, confident even. He looked good with his messy hair today if he said so himself.
"Watch out ladies, raj is coming," he said to himself.
"So how do you mean? You want us to look after her?" Amy said, confused. She had walked in quite fast after Sheldon had called her. Out of breath, she introduced herself, and they all settled down. The mysterious man seemed to be the head of the high school Sheldon had gone too. He came with a surprising proposal they didn't see coming, at all.
Mister Petersen, as his name was, told them about this girl. A girl that reminded them all of Sheldon himself. She was young, too young, only 14 years old and already in the last grade. She was accepted into Caltech for next year as a student to get her PhD.
"Not exactly, she will have her apartment. But I want you to teach her. She knows your work" he pointed at Sheldon.
"And yours" he shifted his finger towards Amy.
"And I think you two could make her even better then she already is!" Sheldon simply shrugged.
"I don't waste time with things like that."
"Give her a chance you will be amazed" Mr Petersen pleaded.
"But sir, what do you exactly want us to do?" Amy questioned, not understanding fully what he expected from them. They have some great teachers here at Caltech why did he need them?
"Just teach." He said again. Sheldon shook his head and gave Amy a look. She sighed, planning on saying something but Mister Petersen was first. He was seeing how both of them still had their doubts.
"Dr Cooper, I knew a little boy once who wanted to do great things and achieved because the right people surrounded him. He met Dr Hawkings, who was one of his inspirations. Tell me if that little boy would have had the chance to be taught by this great man, he wouldn't have begged his supportive mother or me to make it happen."
Did he just try to play with Sheldon's emotions? Amy almost laughed. That wouldn't work, she started smiling at the thought of a young Sheldon sitting on those high school chairs, with all those teenagers around him. She could imagine him wishing it was over, to be surrounded by 'smart' people finally, so she nodded.
"Fine sir, we will do it." She said, thinking about how awful Sheldon must have felt and how she wanted to spare this girl from becoming what he is.
"what?" Sheldon couldn't believe she just said fine. Mister Petersen just jumped up in excitement.
"Tomorrow dr Siebert will give her a tour, I tell him the good news!" he shook their hands fiercely.
"can't wait! She will be so excited! Dr Fowler, you truly are amazing." With those words, he left.
Raj decided to make a quick stop at the park. He let cinnamon off of her leash and went to sit on a bench. With closed eyes, he enjoyed the sun shining on his face. He started smiling slightly. Life was so peaceful. Although he was alone and his friends started having families, it was great. They were one big family, so why would he ever need one of his own?
His thoughts got interrupted by soft crying. Looking around to see where it came from, he noticed a girl with some papers in her hands. She was the one who was crying. Raj was unsure, should he do something? He didn't get a chance to answer the question himself cause cinnamon decided to decide for him and ran towards her. She started scratching softly on her legs, trying to get her attention. The girl looked up with teary eyes and began to pet cinnamon.
"Where did you come from?" she stated, her voice cracking. Raj slowly walked towards the two of them, picking cinnamon up when he joined them.
"Sorry, I didn't want to bother you," He told her sweetly.
"You didn't bother me," she smiled and stood up petting cinnamon some more.
"What is the name of this little one?"
"Cinnamon." She started to make some baby noises and weird faces at the dog. Raj could only look in aw when she noticed it made her blush.
"Thanks for the distraction. My name is Riley" She stuck out her hand.
"Nice to meet you, Riley, I'm Rajesh, but please say Raj," he answered, accepting her hand and shaking it.
"May I asked what I distracted you from?" He carefully tried, not wanting to upset her again. She just shook her head.
"Let's have a coffee sometime, and I may tell you all about it." He nodded.
"I would love to!" That was maybe too exciting. Good go, Raj! He thought to himself.
Leonard almost cried when he heard the babies heartbeat. They were almost home, deciding what to eat that night.
"I think I want pizza," Penny muttered. Leonard laughed.
"Pizza it is." She smiled.
"We have to start thinking about how we will ask Sheldon." He nodded.
"Maybe you're right. He wouldn't want a gift and straight asking he will say no." Penny sighed.
"Oh, I know! Let's make it a riddle." She said. Leonard got enthusiast, that would win him over, Sheldon loved riddles.
"That is a great idea! I'll ask Raj and Howard to make it together with me." Penny giggled.
"I can't wait!" Leonards thoughts shifted to a question he wanted to ask for a while already.
"Penny?"
"yes, sweety?" Leonard hesitated.
"Have you ever thought about moving?" Penny looked at him.
"I did, but Sheldon wouldn't ..."
"Really? We are going to have a baby. I can miss another one, besides that's Amy's problem now." Penny nodded again.
"You're right. What do you think we should do about it?"
"I think we should move to something with a garden." He stated.
"I meant about Sheldon and the moving."
"Oh that. We just don't tell him."
"That's kinda mean, don't ya think?"
"I took care of him for 12 years, and i am aloud to think selfish for once." Penny nodded.
"We should tell Amy."
"Maybe, or we just tell nobody, until we are sure."
"Maybe," She said looking out of the window thinking.
Bernadette opened the door, Raj finally arrived.
"Where have you been? we have been waiting for over an hour!" Raj apologised.
"I am sorry, I made a stop at the park for Cinnamon. I met a girl and lost track of time. But hey, I have a date tomorrow." He tried. Bernadette started laughing.
"Yeah, right."
"No, no, seriously! Her name is Riley, and she is charming and sweet! she loves dogs and works as a teacher!" Howard just walked in with Halley right behind him.
"Who is a dog-loving teacher?" Raj rolled his eyes.
"Raj got a date!" Bernadette laughed. Howard made an 'Ooooeee' sound which made Halley giggle.
"Is she nice?" She innocently asked. Raj nodded.
"Very sweet!" He put Cinnamon on the ground. Michael immediately started chasing her. Both of the Wolowitz kids just loved Cinnamon.
"Sweeter than you?" She asked again.
"Hey, no one is sweeter than your Rajraj, okay.". He opened his arms as she ran into them for a hug.
"Can we go play now?" she tucked at his arm.
"Of course, princes!" He smiled and followed her outside.
The rest of the day went as planned, Sheldon complaining about how Amy said they were fine with it, Raj playing with Halley and Michael, Bernadette and Howard enjoying the peace, Penny and Leonard starting their quest for a new house. In the early evening, Leonard asked Howard and Raj to come earlier so that they could plan the riddle for Sheldon. The evening fell faster than expected. Sheldon and Amy were the last ones to arrive in the apartment of Leonard and Penny.
"I don't want to do it" Sheldon stated again. Amy walked in, right behind him and closed the door.
"Then call Siebert and say it was a mistake!"
"I can't do that because you already said we would do it." Amy sighed in frustration. Sheldon settled down in his spot.
"What's wrong?" Penny asked. Sheldon didn't answer so Amy decided she should explain.
"the man from his High School came today and asked us to teach this 14-year-old girl, who reminded the guy of Sheldon, and I said we would do it!"
"That's so sweet of you," Bernadette answered.
"Why do you not want to do this?" Leonard asked, looking at Sheldon.
"I have better things to do than hang around a kid all day!" Before he was finished, Halley ran in.
"Great," he muttered.
"Uncle Shelly! Ay-ay!" She screamed and ran towards Amy to hug her. Amy instantly felt better and smiled.
"Hi, Chum chum! I missed you!" Amy told her excited. Michael just stood there, grinning, his eyes on Sheldon. Sheldon shifted uncomfortably. Halley saw her chance when he was not paying attention to her anymore and so quickly hugged him while giggling.
"You too, Uncle Shelly." Sheldon sighed. He didn't want to be hugged by her, but he just gave up after a while. He had to admit; he started to grow fond of the two little ones.
"did you miss me?" She asked in her sweet voice. Sheldon couldn't help himself thinking of how it would look like when this was one of his own. When instead of Bernadette, she would look like Amy. Lost in thought, he just stared.
"He did," Amy answered, settling down next to Sheldon, who just happened to realise he was 'gone' for a second. Halley smiled and took her brother to play again. It was only then that Sheldon saw that they had pizza as dinner.
"it's not pizza night? Why are we eating pizza?" He questioned.
"Penny wanted it, you know, hormones," Leonard said. Penny laughed at that comment and kissed Leonard.
"Just eat it, Sheldon," Amy said, having enough of his complaining already. Taken aback by her being so short, he took a slice without saying another word.
"I may have something that will make you feel better." Leonard stood up, winking at the others.
"here you go, buddy." he gave him a piece of paper. There were some challenging calculations on it and the alfabet on the back.
"What is this?" Sheldon questioned.
"You're smart enough. You will figure it out." Raj simply stated. Sheldon started studying the paper. Amy mouthed a thank you to Leonard. This would keep him quiet for a while.
After an hour or so, Sheldon was pacing around with the paper. The others were joking and laughing. Michael fell asleep on top of Raj while Halley was trying to stay awake on Bernadettes lap.
"I got it!" Sheldon muttered and went to sit down in his spot again. Everyone stared at him.
"So what's the answer then?" Penny hinted.
"it's a sentence. You could have made it more challenging." He simply answered. Leonard rolled his eyes.
"What is the sentence, Sheldon!"
"Will you be my Godfather." Amy gasped. But Sheldon didn't seem to get it.
"So?" Penny tried.
"So?" Sheldon imitated her question, not getting the hint.
"Your turn," she told Leonard standing up and walking away.
"Sheldon! They want you to be the godfather of their unborn child!" Amy threw in.
"Oh? Oh!" Now he got it. He turned towards the couple.
"Really?" They both nodded happily.
"Don't worry. We don't understand why either." Howard mocked.
Sheldon was speechless. His face was twitching a little, not knowing what to say or do. He was excited, but oh, god no! He couldn't be what they expected. Raj was snickering.
"Hey, it's not a difficult job, man." He stroked Michaels back.
"But..." Sheldon tried, but couldn't form the right words. Halley reached out to him.
"uncle Shelly, I am sure you will do great. You are my favourite uncle." She tiredly said, even yawned afterwards.
"Hey!" Raj said, offended.
"You are my RajRaj, and nobody can win from that" She snuggled more into Bernadette, who hugged her tighter.
"And uncle Shelly will be like my Rajraj to him or her. I am sure about that." She closed her eyes, trying to fall asleep. Everyone was waiting for Sheldon's response. He hesitantly gave Amy a look, who answered it with a reassuring nod.
"I guess the little Halleybug has a point."
"Does that mean you'll say yes?" Penny hopefully asked, which was answered with a tiny nod from Sheldon. Amy almost jumped on top of him.
"So proud of you!" She yelled. Also, Leonard and Penny hugged him. Sheldon was unsure but smiled it away.
NEXT DAY
Raj was waiting in the coffee shop. She was already 30 minutes late, and she didn't react to any texts or calls. Raj sighed. He had his hopes up to high like usual. He decided to go home and call Howard on the way. It mostly involved laughing about Raj, but Howard also gave him advice. "if you want to meet someone, get out, go to parties or something." So with all the courage, he had in him. He was preparing himself for a night of drinking in random bars.
Sheldon, Amy, Leonard and Howard were all sitting at the table in the cafeteria for there lunch. Howard just hung up after Raj called.
"Poor guy," Amy stated. Leonard nodded.
"yeah, he deserves better." they nodded. Howard just shrugged.
"He just has to be patient. And stop being so creepy with his dog.
" Amy rolled her eyes at the comment. She found it somehow cute that Raj had this bond with his dog. Suddenly Sheldon stiffed up and held Amy's arm. He pointed to the entrance. There he was, Dr Siebert, next to him was a beautiful young girl, almost like a young Penny but with strawberry blond hair. Her backpack was hanging loose over her shoulder.
"This is the girl that reminded that dude of you?" Howard said unbelievable.
A/N: Hi there! I hope you enjoyed this first chapter I am very excited about this story and exactly know what will happen in the future so be prepared XP You can also find it on my wattpad. Also I noticed by copy and pasting it in here I lost some capitals and stuff, I'll look into that later!
I just wanted to point out, Halley and Michaels's age are something complicated. Cause if I follow the timeline, Halley should be 2,5 at the end of the last season and Michael should be 1,5. Now we all saw the last episode, and the kids looked way older so I kind of made especially Halley just that teeny tiny bit smarter then supposed to be at that age. Although I did meet 3-year-olds with that vocabulary. For Michael I use my son as a reference, he just became two, so I guess that's the best I can do. I am sorry if that upsets you. It just makes it a little easier for myself. Just enjoy Halleys cuteness ;)
