Little nightmares nightmare across time chapter 6 the windmill
(This is an alternative version of the windmill episode of season 2)
It had been about two weeks since the children had escaped from the pale world, since then Hilda Frida and David had been readjusting to the normal world, while six and mono were telling the stories about their adventures in there and making credulity drawn illustrations of them, one morning the two had noticed something about Hilda she had worn a different outfit this one considering of a yellow shirt/jersey with a brown rhombus shaped insignia on the left chest. A red and white scarf around her neck, a different styled beret and a brown skirt and black leggings. And a red sash that wrapped around her, the two kids looked at each other and back to Hilda "hey Hilda what's up with the getup?" Mono asked confusedly, Hilda turned "oh this? This is my sparrow scout uniform!" She replied "I thought that you needed to be 18 to get into a war!" Mono questioned "no no, it's the scout group I signed her up for!" Johanna explained "since she loves nature, I thought she would like this and maintain that adventurous spirit she always has!" "Were you guys ever in any scouts before the tower?" Hilda asked "I was in the Girl Scouts once!" Six pointed out "really?" "Yeah! Though I was a little forceful with my methods…"
(Flashback)
Six, dressed in a Girl Scout uniform and holding a tray of Girl Scout cookies was outside of a mall and occasionally tossed cookies directly at the people entering and exiting "buy them!" She shouted at the people "BUY THE COOKIES!" She startled some people and the other scout members.
(End of flashback)
Everyone watched six in confusion "what?" "You are a very forceful person…" "whatever…" Hilda noticed that the shelves were more straightened and clean "wow! The shelves are more clean than usual!" She commented "oh tonto's been storing things in nowhere space for me it's really freed up some space just look at these surfaces!" Johanna showed the tidied up kitchen "tonto can you spare me a spatula?" A small hand emerged from a purple light with a spatula in hand and gave it to Johanna before disappearing "wait what was that and who's tonto?" Asked six "he's our nissa, a house spirit that inhabits the place made up of unused space they call nowhere space!" Hilda explained before looking at the time "tonto can you take me to Frida's house through nowhere space please?" Just as Hilda finished her sentence tonto revealed himself, he was the same size as the children, he was hairy and puffy his head was shaped like a cotton ball and only his nose was poking out, he wore a orange shirt and had a tail with a puff ball at the end. "No, I'm not letting people in anymore!" He stated, "what why?!" Hilda complained "it's a secret space for all nissa! It's not meant to be used so casually by everyone!" Tonto explained "and who's your new friends?" "This is six and mono. But that's beside the point! You're letting mum use it as a giant kitchen covert!" "I know but she doesn't want to go in!" Johanna then gave tonto some eggs "besides she makes me breakfast…" Hilda just groaned "hey you think we can come along and help?" Six asked "why not? It'll probably take my mind off it…."
Outside the kids wandered around the outskirts of town they each had cameras in their hands, taking pictures of the forest "it's driving me crazy knowing that there's this whole other world around us and I can't even stick my head in!" Hilda complained "it's unfair!" "It's just a bunch of nothing right?" Frida asked "you wouldn't say that if you've seen it!" Hilda replied, smiling "now you got me really interested in nowhere space!" Six commented "did you ever meet your nissa's Frida?" Hilda asked "no way! Not after the black hound incident!" Frida answered "what's that?" Mono asked, "it's a long story…" David responded "besides I don't think my house has one." "Oh it probably does! They're just really private is all!" Hilda reassured "in the old days, people used to make offerings to them so they could free up their homes!" "Anyway let's see if we can earn our bird watching badges! I hear that a scarlet capped warbler is worth 10 points!" Just as Frida finished her sentence they saw bulldozers and steam rollers destroying the forest in front of them tearing down trees and destroying habitats. "What are they doing?!" Hilda shouted "clearing the forest for a new housing development!" David answered, soon a red headed bird flew upwards from the falling trees "a scarlet capped warbler!" Frida shouted trying to take a picture of the bird "ugh I missed it!" "Let's follow it!" Six suggested the five then ran to find the bird.
After a few minutes of finding the bird the children ran through a strange stone formation in the shape of a ritualistic symbol, they followed it to an old rundown windmill where the bird landed on someone drenched in a black cloak where other animals surrounded the figure, the kids slowly came closer "uh excuse me but…" "wait I know that voice…" the figure interrupted it was the voice of an old woman, the woman turned around and pulled back her hood showing her face she was an old woman with ragged hair similar to the teacher's she had a red strap tying it up underneath her cloak were a white t shirt and gray overalls tucked into rubber boots "it's you!" She called out "it's you!" Hilda and David said at the same time shocked, "uh who's the lady that looks like she's friends with the hunter?" Six asked confused, "Victoria van gale of course!" The woman named Victoria introduced "the crazy weather woman Hilda and David told me about?" "Well that part's not exactly… I must apologize for what happened last time we met. I believe I got… carried away with my work…" Victoria apologized "you could say that…" David replied suspiciously "but things are different now… I've changed my ways!" Victoria replied, feeding a squirrel "but how are we supposed to trust you after last time…?" Hilda asked suspicions "we can't! Let's go…" David began leaving but stopped "well… miss van gale!" "Please just call me Victoria! And who are your friends?" "This is six and mono they're new friends of ours who are very… unique…" Frida answered as six and mono waved hi "do you mind if we take some pictures of the birds for our bird watching badge?" "Why not! I don't get many visitors anyway… human wise!" Victoria answered "oh that reminds me! A speckled tail swallow has made a nest in the rafter, might make an excellent photo!" She opened the door and let the children inside, it was filled with many tools, birdhouses and other things. Victoria hung her cloak on a large pole "welcome to my humble abode!" Victoria introduced "this is where you live now?" Hilda asked "why yes things had unfortunately gone 'downhill' with my last house if you take my meaning!" Victoria answered smiling "so this is me now! Completely off grid from the rest of the world!" "What do you mean by 'downhill'?" Six asked "that's something i don't wish to talk about!" Victoria answered "so you just live alone?" Mono asked "Well not exactly… I've made a few friends!" Soon a swarm of animals emerged from all around the windmill "you haven't been… experimenting with these animals have you?" David asked, still suspicious, "heavens no! I've just been taking them in from that building site across town!" Victoria proclaimed "you put up a couple of squirrels for the night and in a few minutes you get a reputation!" Frida and mono continued to take pictures of the animals and observed the upper floor of the windmill, seeing not just a television but also a shelf filled with books of all sorts "what a wonderful collection of books!" Frida cheered, fascinated by the collection "they're all I was able to salvage from the weather station…" Victoria explained sadden "the unfortunate remains of a once formidable personal library…." "This is why I usually pick the television instead." Six commented "you DO realize that television is the reason why our dimension is a depressing and apocalyptic wasteland of death, pain and despair right?" Mono pointed out, Victoria took notice "you two come from another dimension?" She asked, fascinated. "Yeah we do!" mono answered "oh tell me all about it!" As the three discussed the pale world Hilda sniffed the air "what's that delicious smell?" She asked interested, "Oh that reminds me! I'm baking now!" Victoria answered before heading to the kitchen "would anyone like a pastry?" David groaned "c'mon David you love pastries!" Frida responded as Victoria returned with a tray of cooked pastries in her hand giving them to the four children, as they tasted the delicious pastries, David took one of the cameras "if you need me I'll be outside taking pictures of the birds…" he announced before leaving, mono joined him feeling uncomfortable.
Outside the two took pictures of the forest "so what's your beef with Victoria anyway?" Mono asked, "you've been very suspicious about her…." "Well, remember when Frida said that Victoria's an insane weather lady? She wasn't lying…" David responded "last time me and Hilda met her we thought she was in danger by a crazy storm that almost buried the whole city in snow! She was trying to control the weather with the weather spirits… unfortunately we found out how…" "how?" "She deliberately abducted a baby weather spirit just so she could lure them in and ended up almost leading to a massive storm that might have resulted in destroying the whole city! She is completely insane! That's why I don't trust her!" Mono's eyes widened "was she like that tall guy crazy or hunter crazy?" "Kind of in the middle like the inmates we saw at the asylum…" David continued to take pictures of the forest and wildlife until something dashed across the two. They raced after it before seeing doors of a basement shut.
Inside Hilda and six continued to eat the pastries ``it's way better than the food in the pale city!" Six commented before David and mono peeked out "uh guys? Mind if we borrow you for a second?" Outside the four stood in front of the basement door "so what it's just doors!" Hilda said confused, "doors to a basement!" David pointed out "and basements are never good! My dad keeps his collection of nutcrackers in ours…" David shivered "I'm with him! The hunter stuffed me into his basement!" Six added on, before they entered into the basement, inside it was dusty like the upstairs but nothing suspicious "alright literally nothing is here!" Hilda announced "I'm telling you something terrifying ran down here!" "David I don't trust Victoria as much as you do but we're probably looking for something that isn't there!" Hilda reassured "sure she's a little loopy but this place has nothing to hide!" "Ugh the pale city really messed me up!" David groaned before bumping into some boards causing them to fall and show a hidden room. The four went inside, where it was filled with many tools and machinery and bits and pieces of stuffing needle and thread as well as many other jars filled with various items ``see we told you!" "Ok good job…" Hilda turned to see in front of them something on a stool and covered with a white sheet, they moved closer to see "what are these things?" She asked before removing the sheet and underneath was being similar to a nissa except it was made from various items, they sighed in relief only to see another fake nissa this one alive and angry, they immediately ran out of the room and across the basement, where Victoria opened the door and caught the fake nissa "what on earth were you doing down there?!" She asked annoyedly, "Oh nothing but DISCOVERING YOUR SECRET LABORATORY!" David yelled "YOU REALLY ARE A MAD SCIENTIST!" Mono shouted, readying his powers ``I knew you were up to something!" "What do you mean?" Frida asked, "she's nuts that's what!" "Mono's right she's creating monsters in her basement!" "Yeah look at that thing!" Victoria put down the fake nissa "hey it looks like my nissa tonto!" Hilda pointed out "that was the idea!" Victoria explained "a nissa can be very helpful and I could use all the help I can! So I built this old chap to be my assistant!" "Wait, you built him? How?" Frida asked "various scientific methods!" "He just tried to kill us!" Six pointed out "sure he's a little grabby but overall he wouldn't hurt a fly! And made my life way easier!" "That's more than I can say for my nissa…" Hilda complained "he wouldn't even let me into nowhere space!" Victoria immediately turned "you mean you've seen nowhere space?" She asked, fascinated. "Yeah just a few times…" "how fascinating…" Victoria then turned around and saw some of the windmill was falling apart "see this place is falling apart I can barely keep up with the repairs!" She groaned "go on fetch the putty!" The fake nissa immediately rushed into the next room "what if we help you with repairing the place?" Frida suggested "and give me one good reason why?" David groaned "it'll earn a bunch of sparrow scout badges!" "Care for animals, renovation, interior design!" Frida listened with glee, "why not let her Frankenstein nissa help her?" "six he can't do everything by himself!" "I would be eternally grateful if you all pitched in!" Victoria replied with gratitude, David six and mono groaned before the nissa handed them some repairing items.
The children, Victoria and the nissa all began to repair the windmill, while David and the nissa were occasionally being rude to one another, and Hilda six and mono began detailing their adventures in the pale world and nowhere space to Victoria increasing her interest in both places. After a while the kids returned to their homes, at Hilda's, she six and mono were getting ready for bed while telling tonto about their day "so she created this nissa herself! Out of wood, grass and everything!" Hilda explained "she built a nissa? He's not real?!" Tonto asked dumbfounded, "nope but I bet he'd let me into nowhere space if he was!" Meanwhile outside the fake nissa creeped to the window and observed the inside "and the best part is it does whatever she asks!" "I need a nap…" the fake nissa continued to observe Tonto entering and renting nowhere space….
The next day at the now repaired windmill Hilda and the others continued to fix up the remaining parts of it "basically anything can be an entrance to nowhere space!" Hilda explained to Victoria "The space in your wardrobe, the gaps between the floorboards!" "Even a crack in the wall!" Six added on, Victoria immediately noticed "how fascinating…." "I'm done shelving the books! I used a subject based classification system… but it also goes into books that look really nice to each other!" Frida explained coming downstairs, "now all that's left is this crack in the wall and we're done!" "WAIT YOU DON'T NEED TO DO THAT!" Victoria yelled, twitching slightly, startling the others "I mean, you've done more than enough for me! So I must do something for you!" The fake nissa then arrived from the kitchen with a tray of pastries and cups of coffee in its hands, the children settled down onto the table and where the nissa handed them pastries "mmm! Victoria, this is delicious!" Frida said eating the delicious food "nonsense it's just a small gesture! The least I could do for all your help!" Victoria replied, pouring some coffee into a cup and handing it to Frida "coffee?" "Uh no thanks…" she replied "David you really should try these!" Hilda suggested "yeah! They're amazing!" Mono added "fine…" David groaned before tasting the food "yeah… you guys were right!" "Another tray's in the kitchen!" Victoria announced "be a dear and fetch it for me?" "No need I'll get them for you!" David said "you know Victoria I must apologize… I still think you're crazy… but I guess you're not dangerous crazy!" "Well thank you for that!" Victoria replied gratefully, as David left to the kitchen and took the pastries he noticed that the upper board was sticking out "I'll fix that!" Just as David pushed the board in the lower part fell out with a secret file hiding behind it, David was surprised by this and grabbed the file and stuffed it into his shirt, he then exited the kitchen with the tray in his hand and gave it to them "ah you're just in time for the gifts!" Victoria cheered "gifts?" David asked, startled with the fake nissa staring at him "as a reward for all your hard work i would like to give each of you a gift as a token of my gratitude!" Victoria explained "Frida, you may pick a book from my now gloriously organized library!" Frida then cheered "Hilda, don't think I didn't see you taking a look at my friends!" Victoria continued with a centipede house in her hands before putting it onto the table "I know you'll take good care of them!" Hilda took a closer look at the house and two centipedes swarmed around it and cuddled around each other "David! David David David…" Victoria looked around "as for you…" Victoria then placed a can of grease on the table "multi purpose grease…?" He read "for your versatility!" Victoria answered "as for you two…" Victoria then walked towards six and mono "mono I heard about what happened to your bag so I made you a new one!" She then pulled out a new paper bag and gave it to mono "and if the bag wears off on you…" Victoria then pulled out a black fedora similar to the tall man's "I found it on one of my hikes around the forest…" "hey that looks a lot like that tall guy's hat!" Six pointed out, mono then tucked away the bag and put on the fedora and smiled "and you six!" Victoria continued, pulling out a pair of yellow boots and a pair of black shoes ``so you don't risk getting blisters on your feet! Oh that reminds me!" Victoria then walked to another room as the two kids put on the shoes, she then opened the door and to the children's surprise, out came a boy this one had hair like six's and wore a blue shirt and brown pants and a cuff on his ankle. The kids' eyes widened while six and mono shed a tear "s-seven?" Six stuttered "six…? Mono…?" The kid named seven asked dumbfounded "SEVEN!" The two kids screamed in tears as the three children hugged "I found him in the rain huddled under a tree I took him in and let him heal!" Victoria continued, "do you guys know him?" Hilda asked "yeah I met him at the maw, it was the place where my mom runs!" Six explained stopping the hug "how are you still alive? I ate you when you were a gnome!" "The other gnomes took me and patched me up! And after you defeated your mom some of the children managed to turn normal guess it's more of a time thing…`` Seven explained "after that I swam with some of the gnomes and have been looking for you ever since…"
"Now you all better get going there's a thunderstorm due any minute now!" Victoria announced, "Wait, how do you know?" Mono asked "well you know what they say, once a meteorologist always a meteorologist!" Victoria answered before the children left the windmill "you've got a lot of catching up to do!" Six proclaimed "look just as she said!'' Frida observed as it started raining "she's amazingly accurate with the weather!" Hilda commented "wow! She must be some kind of weather psychic!" Mono added on "in fact that made her pretty famous! They even started calling her 'Victoria van gale: the weather psychic'!" "Ok guys there's something I need to show you…" David was suddenly interrupted by Frida ``oh I forgot to pick out a book! We'll talk later David!" "We gotta get home for our second dinner! Mum will be mad if we're late!" Hilda six mono and seven then rushed away, leaving David behind as the rain flooded the forest…
At his house David went to his room with the file on his table "ok… what are you up to Victoria…?" He said to himself and opened the file, it was filled with detailed documents about occult rituals and scientific research on the windmill "it's a plan! For some kind of… secret machine! The windmill IS the machine…." as thunder struck David looked into his mirror and saw the fake nissa behind him it lunged at him and began a struggle, the two tussled around until the fake nissa managed to escape with some documents. The child then turned and opened the door only to be blocked by his father "everything alright David?" He asked "uh yes… I'll be going outside now!" "Oh no you don't not in this weather!" "Ok then I'll just be in my room!" David then closed the door, "the window!" David then tied his bedsheets and ran to the window only to see it was a very long drop… "yeah that's not a good idea…" he said to himself "I need to warn the others, but how can I do it if I can't leave my flipping house!?" David then had another idea. He then gathered various items around his room and laid them in the center "is there a nissa in my room?" He asked trying to get the nissa's attention "if so then here's my offering!" Nothing appeared David then threw the grease can on the ground before groaning suddenly behind him, a long necked nissa appeared "is that multi purpose grease?"
"You know I was skeptical at first…" Hilda said, opening her drawer "but I think that Victoria has really…" Suddenly David's head appeared from the drawer startling everyone, David then exited the nowhere space hole and explained the file he found "so the windmill is some kind of secret machine!" Hilda recapped "and that freaky fake nissa has something to do with it!" David replied "it's way worse…." Tonto said worried, "what do you mean?" Hilda asked "and what's that weird symbol?" Six asked "this is old magic REALLY old…" Tonto explained "what kind?" "The kind you don't wanna mess with…" "w-what does that mean…?" "She didn't build that nissa, she… conjured it…!" "C-conjured!?" Mono panicked and immediately took out his bag and hyperventilated in it "YOU DIDN'T TELL US THAT YOUR WEATHER LADY IS ALSO A FREAKING CULTIST!" six shouted, panicking as well "everyone calm down!" Hilda yelled the two kids then calmed down "why go through all this trouble for a nissa? No offense!" David asked, "None taken!" Hilda then realized something dire "she wants to get into nowhere space!" "You can't let her use this thing!" Tonto yelled "then what are we waiting for?!" Seven announced "let's get Frida and get going!" "No time! We need to get there as quickly as physically possible!" "How?" Mono asked Hilda similed, "I have an idea!" Tonto groaned. Soon the kids and Tonto entered nowhere space, a vast void filled with many holes and old junk "this is a one time thing ok?"
At the windmill the fake nissa returned home with the file in it's hand as it handed it to Victoria. She looked at it as thunder boomed outside "it is time…." Frida finally returned downstairs with a book in her hands "so I finally settled on the book I wanted. Despite all the reanimation nonsense…" she announced "'get out of there! Situation risk assessments and knowing when you need to escape'" Victoria and the fake nissa looked at the girl… ten minutes later frida was tied to the wall and struggling for freedom "David was right! You are insane!" "No it's not like that at all!" Victoria reassured as the nissa removed the boards on the support beam, revealing a hidden lever "don't take it the wrong way, i just had a feeling you might, you know… stop me!" Victoria then pulled the lever as the whole beam started to turn and fall apart showing a large chair underneath, the fake nissa then climbed up and sat down, Victoria then gave it a kiss before putting a helmet attached to the chair on it and pulling another lever "tonight beautiful history unfolds!" The windmill began to spark with electricity as the five emerged from nowhere space only to see they were too late, the machine had activated.
Inside the fake nissa had been infused with a massive amount of power "what is all this!?" Frida asked panicking, Victoria twitching walked over to the chair "it was that building site across from here that gave me the idea!" She explained, turning some knobs to power up the machine even more "there's simply no space left in trolburg you see! But nowhere space… it's an untapped resource! We could build homes there! We don't need to bulldoze the rest of the forest anymore!" The fake nissa then shot out an energy beam at the cracked wall ripping open a portal to nowhere space, Victoria marveled by the result simply stepped closer towards the vortex "why do the nissa need this much glorious space for themselves?" She remarked before stepping through….
The kids then busted through the windmill door and saw the chaos "oh no we're too late!" David shouted before they noticed Frida tied up "why are you still here?!" Six asked untying Frida "she has so many good books it was hard for me to pick one!" She explained "what happened to Victoria?" "She went inside!" "What happens if we don't stop it!?" Hilda asked, seeing the portal "a sustained breach like this!?" Tonto shouted "it could suck the whole planet into a vast endless nothingness!" "Well that's horrifying!" Six commented before Hilda, Tonto mono and seven entered the portal…
Inside nowhere space victoria marveled by the sight of it. Soon the others followed "Victoria!" Hilda shouted getting Victoria's attention "ah you're all just in time for my greatest discovery of a lifetime!" "Victoria, you have to turn this thing off now!" Seven said, panicking, "but why would I? I'm finally on the brink of doing something right for the world!" Victoria asked, the others were horrified by what she was saying, meanwhile David and six were untying Frida still "ow you're making it worse!" "Sorry I never worked under this kind of pressure!" Suddenly the fake nissa attacked them both and they ran away as the nissa attacked with a baseball bat but accidentally damaged the chair and affected the portal causing it to glitch and turn dark blue.
"I know I made mistakes in the past, but this… this will make up for all of that!" Victoria announced as the holes started to glitch and spark, Hilda then realized something horrible about Victoria that she was still the same maniac that she was in the past "you haven't changed at all!" "But Hilda, look what I've made!" Victoria reassured "admit it, you wanted to see this place as much as I did!" "Not like this I didn't! This is not your world!" "And yet here I stand!" Meanwhile the chair had overloaded and the energy it admitted turned dark blue sucking everything around it into the portal, meanwhile in the pale world a blast of energy appeared scaring the viewers away, back in nowhere space the whole area had begun shaking violently "it's happening!" Tonto said frightened "I don't understand! My calculations were perfect!" Victoria said dumbfounded suddenly behind them a giant hole tore open and on the other side was a familiar… pale city…
Meanwhile David continued to fight off the fake nissa even tearing off its leafy face showing a human skull underneath Frida managed to free herself as David as six screamed she then kicked the nissa's head right off.
Back in nowhere space the six backed away "I thought you said that it would suck the planet into a void!?" Mono asked, panicking "I did! Something must've altered the pathway!" Tonto replied "what's that headed towards us?!" Hilda pointed to something closing in on the portal it revealed to be four shadowy entities: two drenched in shadows, a familiar hunter and a tall man… They backed away far away as the tall man's hands appeared again and pressed against the hole before emerging on the ground and rising upwards, the lights around the area flashed to dark blue and various objects fell from the nissa holes, soon the hunter joined in "did you miss us?!" He remarked soon the other two monsters appeared one was a woman with blue hair similar to Hilda's but darker and hard a gray streak her face was rotting away and she wore a similar suit to the tall man's except without the fedora and she had a black tie, the other monster was a man made entirely from ice and snow and another outfit like the tall man's and a black tie his legs were giant ice stumps "and we brought new friends… meet the adventurer… and the iceman…" the tall man introduced as the four monsters moved towards the children, they ran away and ran through the obstacles of junk but Victoria didn't follow "Victoria we have to go!" Hilda hollered, Victoria didn't listen "no leave me be!" She shouted proudly, "Victoria no!" But it was too late Victoria was consumed into the void…
The five emerged just as the portal closed "so what happened to Victoria?" Six asked, Hilda and the others frowned "oh… is she…?" "Dead? No…." Mono replied sadly "but she's lost in the pale city…" suddenly the crack in the wall glowed once more but dark blue and the hand of the adventurer came out with the rest of the monsters following "yeah that tall guy's back and he's brought friends…." Mono announced the kids immediately started running around the windmill as the monsters hunted them down mono and seven hid upstairs by the television seven got an idea and turned on the television where the monsters head the sound and moved upwards once they were ready the two snuck away from the monsters and the other children made their escape and out the windmill "dang it they're outside!" The hunter yelled "let me handle this one boss!" The adventurer suggested "what can you do anyway?" "For starters I got this!" The adventurer pulled out a large rusty tommy gun "and this!" She then sunk into the floorboards…
Outside, the children and Tonto kept running away from the windmill until they stopped "well that was something terrifying!" Hilda remarked before the adventurer emerged from a hollow tree "she can use nowhere space!?" Tonto shouted before they continued running away from the adventurer, occasionally hiding behind old boxes and dodging the adventurer's gunfire they eventually returned to the city where the adventurer just stared at them before disappearing into nowhere space once more…
At Hilda's house Hilda, six, mono and seven had dried off from the rain "so that creepy tall guy's back in town…" "yeah…" "you seem less comfortable about something…" Hilda sighed "I just… actually thought Victoria had changed…." She then got up on the bed "at least she might be in a better place now…"
