A/N: Mike and El's conversation over the supercomm will come back in a later chapter and the whole Mind Flayer, Billy, Russians, and etc. are not happening in this version.
Max was able to catch Lucas only a few feet away from the basement door and grabbed his wrist. "Why did you just storm out like that?"
"Why do you care I'm just another pointless relationship."
Max knew she deserved that and softened her tone and expression. "Listen Lucas what I meant was that I ne-."
Max's sentence was cut short by Mike screaming out for help and not thinking twice they both ran back into the basement to a scary sight. Mike was on the floor crawling making a desperate attempt to get to the phone, while El was out cold with blood all over her face. "What the hell happened Mike?" Lucas said in a very high-pitched voice.
"I don't know I looked over at her and she was like that, we need to get Hopper and Mrs. Byers on the phone we can't take her to a regular hospital."
Lucas helped Mike get back on the couch while Max talked on the phone with Hopper. After about only five minutes Hopper came rushing in and lifted El to the truck while everyone else followed closely behind. After about ten minutes Hopper pulled in front of at least a four-story house. He quickly got out of the truck and carried El to the door. When the door opened Mike and Will instantly recognized who was standing at the door, but Max, Lucas, and Dustin had no idea who the short man was with grey hair. "Listen Doc she's out cold and I don't know what happened."
"Get her down to the basement immediately so I can run some tests." Dr. Owens ushered Hop and the kids inside and they quickly rushed down following behind Hop and Owens. When they got into the basement it was set up to look like a hospital room with all kinds of machinery all over the place.
"Lay her down right there and I'll take her vitals and run some tests on her powers." Owens looked very determined and after a few tests he approached Hop and the kids with a relieved look.
"Ok Eleven had a panic attack caused by her powers, I would assume she saw something very horrific while in the void, she'll wake up in about an hour, when she wakes up someone she trusts preferably all of you will need to be by her side, so she doesn't panic at the unfamiliar environment."
About forty-five minutes went by when El began to stir and as she opened her eyes she was about scream and panic, but she looked to her left and saw the love of her life standing at her side with his crutches looking like he'd almost lost a piece of his heart. "Where am I?"
"You're in Dr. Owens basement." Mike was hesitant to tell her about her panic attack because he didn't know how much she remembered, but ten minutes prior to her waking up everyone even Hopper agreed that Mike had to be the one to break this down to her when she woke up.
"Why?"
"Your powers triggered a panic attack from something you previously saw in the void, and you passed out, apparently you saw something in the void that was too much to handle."
El thought back to the last thing she remembered and could see when the Truth or Dare game took a dark turn and then she was in the void and had to watch Mike shoot himself all over again. The image would not stop playing in El's mind it was so clear that it was the last thing she saw before the darkness took over.
She was brought back to reality and knew she had to explain to Mike and the others. "I-I w-was in the void the day Mike s-shot himself and I was able to see his memories and the exact moment he did it." El was now full-on sobbing barely able to get her words out.
"I-I-It k-kept playing over and over again when we were playing the game and then e-everything was just black."
The room was so silent you could hear a feather hit the floor everyone had different expressions Lucas, Dustin, and Will all shared pained looks of almost losing their paladin, while Hop and Max shared a look of pure guilt. El was now sobbing uncontrollably and nobody noticed the blank look Mike had on his face.
"El how many of my memories did you see?"
Mike had a true look of fear on his face as the only ones who knew about his mental illnesses were Nancy and his mom.
"I-I saw from your first visit t-to y-your l-last."
El knew she didn't have to specifically say what the visits were because she knew Mike would know. Mike nearly collapsed at the words that came out of his girlfriends mouth. Mike wasn't ready for anyone to know and quite frankly he was ashamed of his illnesses. Hopper made a move to get up to stand beside Mike to balance him he could tell that all of this was hitting Mike pretty hard.
"Uhh so is no one going to tell us what these mysterious visits are?"
Everyone gave Dustin a shut the hell up look, but Mike knew it was time to tell them. "When I was six m-my mom caught me cutting myself and decided I needed a therapist and a mental evaluation, they eventually came to the conclusion that I suffered from depression and anxiety and that I would need to see my doctor every week."
Everyone's face was completely unreadable, and Mike was nervous. Mike knew his life wouldn't be the same if he was voted out of the party. One person decided to break the silence by walking up and giving Mike a side hug. "Mike, we love you and you need to know that you could've told us."
Max was crying as she had to learn this devastating news that one of her best friend were suffering all this time and she only caused him more pain. Mike couldn't stand to see people pity him and decided to lighten the mood. "Don't tell me you're going soft Mayfield hugging and crying, not the Max I know."
Mike smiled and for the first time today it didn't feel forced. Eventually Dr. Owens entered the room and told us it was safe for El to leave but to keep an eye on her for the next two weeks, so her mind can recover from the horrific sight. The ride home was silent, and eventually they were back in front of the Wheelers residence.
"Hey kid, if you're not feeling up to the sleepover with your friends, I can take you home."
"No, I want to stay I'll see you tomorrow."
Hopper simply nodded and kissed the top of her head and drove off as the party headed towards the basement door. Max stopped Lucas and pulled him to the side while everyone went inside.
"Listen what ever bullshit you have to say about why you can never love me just sa-."
Lucas's sentence was cut short by Max pulling him into a passionate kiss. When they pulled back Max cupped his cheek and looked him straight in the eyes.
"Listen Lucas there has been plenty of people that have played with my heart, and I see now that you don't have any bad intentions, you only want the best out of our relationship so I can happily say Lucas Stalker Sinclair I love you."
Lucas now had a couple of tears coming out of his eyes but did not hesitate to reciprocate the feelings. "Maxine MadMax Mayfield I love you too."
"About time you both got your heads out your asses." Lucas and Max turned to see the whole party cramped at the window and seeing Dustin smiling as he was the one who made the comment.
"Now if Mike can stop being such a stubborn fucker maybe he can say the same thing to El.
Mike rolled his eyes at Dustin's comment but had to admit that it was long overdue. Mike grabbed El's hand and signaled her to the couch seeing this as a perfect time to tell El how he felt.
"El from the moment you saved my life when I jumped from that cliff and called yourself a monster, I knew at that moment that I loved you. Eleven you are the best thing to ever come into my life and the absolute love of my life and I've been too much of a coward to say it but, I love you so much."
"Mike I- I love you too."
Mike and Eleven shared a passionate kiss until Dustin had to be Dustin.
"You can love her but the best thing to come into your life is a bit of a stretch because I'm awesome."
