Chapter 75 Blacktop Obsession
"NO! Let me go!" Kaidyn's head reared back, hitting Dom's chin, catching him off guard. She hadn't moved or made a sound to indicate she was waking up. He looked shocked as she screamed.
"Kaidyn! Come on, you're okay." Dominic said half asleep as he struggled to keep a hold on her. It was now early in the morning and Letty was sleeping on Dominic's side and he had fallen asleep as well. Kaidyn began to kick to get loose, not realising Letty was close. Her foot kicked her in the mouth.
"Shit." Letty said, wiping blood from her face as she sat up in shock.
"Let me go! Let me go, let me go! Leave her alone! Please!" Kaidyn began to sweat, struggling and getting free from Dominic. She got up and ran, tripping over some shoes, busting her chin. She got up and ran.
"We need help in here!" Letty ran into the kitchen. "Guys, come on!" She yelled, panicking a bit.
"Rome! Brian!" Tej yelled, jumping over the couch to get to the living room quicker.
"Where'd she go?" Roman asked, looking frantically around the living room.
"I can't find her." Dominic said, rubbing his chin. "That kid can pack a punch." He noted, his chin throbbing.
"Great, she's evolving levels at this shit." Roman muttered, looking around for her.
"Help me!" Kaidyn screamed. "Don't shoot her. Don't please, please don't do it." She screamed. Roman and Tej took off towards her direction. She ran into the stairs, screaming and crawling trying to get away. She reminded Roman of the scary horror movies where the demon that was possessed was crawling towards the camera.
"Tackle her if you can." Roman yelled, scaring her. She ran up the stairs, half crawling after struggling to get up and ran right into Carter at the top of the stairs. She had almost knocked him down.
"It's okay, Daddy's got you." Carter tried to grab her. She lifted up her legs and they both ended up falling down the stairs. "Damn it, Kaidyn. Guys, I need help holding her!" He yelled as Shayde came rushing down the stairs. Her nose was bleeding again and Carter was struggling with her. She managed to get free and ran into the couch, screaming, almost knocking herself down.
"Leave her alone. Please leave her alone." Kaidyn dived on the floor, as if she was trying to shield someone. "You can't have her. Please don't do this! I can't breathe!" She yelled, grabbing her head. She began to get dizzy and fell over a bit.
"Come on, Kaidyn, it's okay." Han said, throwing himself on her legs after grabbing her. Carter grabbed her arms and tried to hold her. She was sweaty, bloody, and sobbing.
"Let me go! Shayde, don't die. Please don't die." Kaidyn screamed, her sobs sounding so heartbroken as she wiggled to get free. "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO." She begged, seeing the replay in her head and feeling the warmth of the blood from her nose.
"We need more help over here! Hector, come on with that medicine. Now." Carter ordered as Kaidyn thrashed around.
"Kaidyn, ENOUGH. Come on, Calm it down. This is getting out of hand." Dominic yelled at her, putting himself over her body.
"I can't breathe." She screamed, gasping for air. Dominic looked up at the click of a pistol.
"Get off of my baby right now. There are two people in this world I will not kill and you are not one of them." Shayde growled.
"Let me gooooooooo." Kaidyn howled. "Please. Help her. Help her. You gotta help her. Please don't let her die." Kaidyn whimpered. She gasped for air.
"I said get the fuck up and away from her." Shayde said, in full momma bear mode, her gun cocked and held to Dominic's head.
"Dom, get up and just do what she says. We got her." Han said, shaking his head, knowing Shayde had been pushed to the brink.
"I am sorry, I was not hurting her." Dominic held up his hands and moved off of Kaidyn. "Shayde, I would never hurt her." He promised.
"Not another word." Shayde warned, her eyes on Kaidyn.
"Brian, you do it." Hector said, handing Brian the needle. "I don't want to miss again." he admitted, still feeling bad he had missed the vein the last time.
"Brian, I got her arm tied off. Got a vein right here." Tej said, grabbing her arm. "It's okay, Babygirl. Hang in there. We are gonna help you." He said, holding her arm, with his knee on the end of her arm. "Shay, I am just trying to make sure we hit this vein." he explained, not wanting the gun pulled on him. "I promise you I am not putting any weight on her, I just want him to hit the vein." Tej promised, looking up at Shayde holding her gun.
"You're fine." Shayde said, her gun still on Dominic.
"Shay, can we talk? Please?" Dominic asked, his hands still in the air. "You know me better than anyone here. I would not hurt my Goddaughter, you know this." He shook his head.
"We're not talking until she's okay." Shayde said, shaking her head. "Just sit down and don't move. I will deal with you when I am ready." She growled.
"I want Shayde." Kaidyn cried, looking at Tej. "Please, please can I have Shayde?" Kaidyn asked, her voice hoarse from screaming.
"She's a bit tied up Babygirl but I'm here. Can you see me? Nod yes if you can see me." Tej said, giving Carter a worried glance as he held her shoulders down from the top of her head. He was worried she would see Carter and start to freak out again. "Do you want to move so she doesn't see you?" Tej asked Carter, hoping to not piss off Carter but wanting to make sure Kaidyn didn't flip out any more than she already had.
"Roman, come take my place." Carter said, also worried she would see him if she looked up. Roman stepped over Brian and the others to take Carter's place. He looked at her wide eyes, seeing the fear and panic in them.
"What's up Blondie? You okay?" Roman asked, trying to get her to answer, giving her a grin. "Kaidyn, come on, homegirl. Talk to us." He coaxed.
"Rome?" She asked, licking her lips. She opened her eyes and saw him grinning at her.
"Hey, look who's back." Roman said, looking at Hector.
"Welcome back, Babygirl." Tej looked relieved. He watched Carter go over to Shayde and take the gun from her and whisper in her ear.
"Han, go tell Shadye she's back, we might need to wait on this and just do the pain meds." Brian said, moving the needle out of Kaidyn's sight. He put it behind his back for good measure to keep it out of her view. Kaidyn began to cry.
"Hey girl, why are you crying? Talk to ol' Romey Rome." Roman said, smiling, trying to keep her distracted. He wanted to keep the focus on him and not over where Carter was.
"I am hurting." She said, closing her eyes and looking pale. Hector wiped the blood from her nose. He worked on trying to get as much of it off of her as he could.
"What hurts?" Hector asked as he worked on her wiping her down with a washcloth.
"Everything. I think I got hit by a car. My fingers hurt, my foot hurts." She said, tears coming out of her closed eyes. "Everything hurts." She cried, shaking her head.
"Yeah, I think she broke these two fingers." Brian told Tej. "Not much you can do for broken fingers except splint them." He said, looking around in the first aid kit.
"Damn." Tej said, looking at how messed up she was. "This is crazy." He said quietly.
"Pain meds." Han brought the needle back. "This should help. I got the heavier one." He advised.
"Hey Kaidyn." Brian said, trying to get her to look at him.
"Hey Brian." She said, looking around after opening her eyes. She looked a bit confused but looked at Brian.
"Can you tell me what all hurts?" he asked, looking at her intently for signs of a concussion.
"My fingers, my head. My legs, my arms. What's wrong with me?" She asked, beginning to breathe heavy again.
"You're fine. Take some deep breaths for me. Just a little accident. So, hey, I am gonna give you some pain medicine, okay? It will help you feel better. Can you tell me how to spell Roman's last name?" He asked, checking to see if she was able to think okay.
"P-e-a-r-c-e." She said, looking at Roman.
"Yeah. Good job, Blondie." Roman grinned at her, stroking her hair.
"What kind of car do I race?" He asked.
"A Skyline." She said, shaking her head. "Am I right?" She asked, looking a bit confused. She winced as she looked up at the lights that were bright and making her squint.
"What state are we in right now?" Brian asked, feeling around for a vein.
"Not Cali." She replied, making Roman laugh and Tej grin.
"Yes, but can you tell me what state we are in now?" He asked, looking at her for a definitive answer.
"Florida." She replied, sounding annoyed.
"Can you follow my finger with your eyes?" He asked, doing a quick assessment.
"She's good." Brian nodded, looking relieved.
"Ok, Babygirl. You ready for this medicine?" Tej asked, watching Han with the needle. He wanted to give her some warning so she wasn't caught off guard.
"It hurts, Tej." She said in a soft voice.
"I know, we working on fixin that right now." Tej promised with a nod. "You're gonna be better in just a few seconds, Babygirl." He promised with a nod.
"There you go. You will feel better now." Hector said, looking at Brian as he injected it.
"Brian! THAT Hurts." Kaidyn growled.
"It will go away in a bit." He promised.
"Where's Shayde?" Kaidyn asked, lifting up her head, trying to look around. Her eyes glossed over as she tried to focus.
"She's talking with Dom, Jesse and Letty." Hector assured her. "How you feeling?" Hector asked, wiping her forehead off to help cool her down some.
"The pain is going away." Kaidyn said, looking up at Roman, her voice lighter.
"Hey girl, you sure got some big blue eyes." he grinned at her. He kept her gaze, trying to make her focus on him rather than the pain.
"There are two of you." She said. "We can't handle two Romans in this house." She shook her head.
"Haha. Funny. We gonna need to put you in bubble wrap if you keep this stuff up." Roman said, shaking his head.
"Owwww!" Kaidyn lifted her head when Brian touched her fingers. "Brian, you are not being very nice!" She warned.
"Sorry. I am just taking a look at your fingers. We will give you a few more minutes before we look." Brian said, seeing Shayde walk over to him. "Sorry Shayde, I was just going to try to look at her fingers." He explained.
"It's okay, Brian. I just want to make sure she's okay. Thank you for checking everything on her." Shayde patted him on the shoulder. "I appreciate those that give a damn." She nodded, still pissed off at the moment.
"Shayde...I'm glad to see you." Kaidyn said, barely able to keep her eyes open.
"I missed you too, Silly Girl." Shayde smiled at her, stroking her hair. "It's time to get some rest." Shayde said.
"Shay, I had a dream about Daddy." she said, turning her head, fighting to keep her eyes open.
"Yeah, your daddy loves you a lot. What was the dream about?" She asked, stroking her hair. Kaidyn yawned.
"He does? How do you know?" Kaidyn asked, trying to lift her head to see Shayde better. Things were going in and out of focus.
"I just do." Shayde said, reassuring her. "It's okay if you are sleepy, you can go to sleep and tell me tomorrow, lil one." She promised. Kaidyn's head dropped and her eyes closed, her body going limp as she fell asleep.
