Chapter 5

Peter and Alternate Peter ran into an alleyway. Peter threw off his clothes to reveal his suit. He then put on his mask.

"I'll go fight while you get your suit on," Peter said. "Hurry!"

Peter ran out of the alleyway, began shooting webs, and swung towards where the Green Goblin hovered on his board. A young girl pointed into the air.

"Look, Dad!" the girl exclaimed. "It's Spider-Man!"

"Everyone out of the way!" Peter shouted as he swung on the webs. "He has bombs!"

"Spider-Man!" Green Goblin exclaimed. "We meet at last!"

Peter attached himself to the board.

"You won't get away this time, Goblin!" Peter exclaimed.

The Green Goblin quickly broke Peter's web and Peter began to fall. The crowd of onlookers gasped as Peter fell. Before he could hit the ground, Alternate Peter swung into action and took him into his arms.

"There are two of them!" a woman exclaimed.

"Two Spider-Men?" a man asked confused.

The two Spider-Men quickly swung into action and began circling the Green Goblin. The Green Goblin quickly hovered over near the library where Mary Jane stood looking. He quickly grabbed Mary Jane and held a bomb over her. The two Spider-Men came onto the ground.

"You let her go!" Alternate Peter shouted.

"Stand back, Spider-Man!" Green Goblin shouted. "I will activate this bomb and kill everyone around here!"

"Let her go!" Alternate Peter shouted.

"No!" Green Goblin shouted. "Here's what's going to happen! I will let her go if you let me go!"

"We can't let him go!" Peter shouted.

"Deal!" Alternate Peter shouted.

Green Goblin threw Mary Jane and Alternate Peter caught her. Green Goblin quickly hovered away, but not before throwing a pumpkin bomb.

"Everyone back!" Peter shouted.

Everyone ran as the bomb detonated. Glass broke around them and both Peters quickly used their webs to catch it. Alternate Peter hung upside down on his web and Mary Jane walked over to him.

"So," Mary Jane said. "Have there been two of you all along?"

"No," Alternate Peter replied. "It just happened today."

"But, you're the Spider-Man that's been saving my life, right?" Mary Jane asked.

"Yes," Alternate Peter replied.

"Can I have a kiss?" Mary Jane asked.

"Yes," Alternate Peter replied.

Mary Jane pulled down the mask just enough to expose Alternate Peter's mouth. The two then shared a passionate kiss. Mary Jane then pulled the mask back onto Alternate Peter.

"See you around," Alternate Peter said.

"Counting on it," Mary Jane said smiling.

Alternate Peter climbed onto the roof of an apartment building. As he stood up, Peter suddenly tackled him.

"Are you crazy?!" Peter shouted. "You let Green Goblin get away!"

"He was going to kill Mary Jane!" Alternate Peter shouted.

"We could've worked together to make sure that didn't happen!" Peter shouted. "Now he's loose and more lives are at risk! You just had to save your precious Mary Jane!"

Alternate Peter flipped Peter onto his back. He then held him down.

"I didn't ask for you to come and dictate my life!" Alternate Peter shouted.

"With great power comes great responsibility!" Peter shouted. "You're responsible for lives other than Mary Jane!"

"Shut up!" Alternate Peter shouted.

"You know why Mr. Stark won't make you an Avenger?!" Peter shouted. "You're not ready!"

"I can't wait until you go back to your own universe!" Alternate Peter shouted.

"Ditto!" Peter shouted.

Peter and Alternate Peter stood up and took off their masks. As they walked towards the door to go inside, Peter felt dizzy. Alternate Peter noticed the look on his face.

"Peter?" Alternate Peter asked concerned.

"I don't feel so good," Peter said before falling down unconscious.

"Peter!" Alternate Peter screamed.
