Chapter 9
"Peter," a voice said. "Peter."
Peter awoke to find himself laying on a bed. He looked to see Alternate Aunt May and Darcy sitting at his bedside. Alternate Aunt May held his hand.
"Aunt May?" Peter asked. "Where am I?"
"We're in my lab/home," Darcy replied. "I kind of live here for the moment. Something about not paying my bills on time."
"Where's other Peter?" Peter asked.
"Sweetie," Alternate Aunt May said. "He went to finish the fight with Green Goblin."
"I have to get to him!" Peter shouted. "I have to help him!"
"Peter," Alternate Aunt May said. "You're too weak. Besides, this isn't your battle."
"But, Aunt May," Peter said. "He needs me."
"So do a lot of people in your universe," Alternate Aunt May said.
"I don't want to lose him," Peter said.
"Peter," Darcy said. "I wouldn't worry about him right now. I'd worry about you."
"Why?" Peter asked.
"You see," Darcy said nervously. "I was a little off on how long you have left to live."
"How off?" Peter asked.
"You only have three hours to live," Darcy said nervously.
"Three?" Peter asked.
"Yeah," Darcy replied.
"That's more than a little off!" Peter shouted. "That's a lot off!"
"Peter," Alternate Aunt May said. "You need to calm down. Have some water."
"Yeah," Darcy said. "Besides, I'm almost done reprogramming the pumpkin bomb. I should be done in an hour at best."
"Good," Peter said standing up and taking a big gulp of water. "That should give me enough time to go help other Peter and save Mary Jane."
"You're not going anywhere," Darcy said.
"Yes I am," Peter said.
"The only place you're going is back to sleep," Darcy said.
"I don't think so," Peter said.
"The sedative in your drink should start to effect about now," Darcy said.
"You put a sedative in my drink?!" Peter shouted before falling to the bed unconscious.
"Whoa!" Alternate Aunt May said. "Is he going to be okay?"
"He should wake up in an hour," Darcy replied.
