So, I had an idea of a fic to give some backstory to those of the Raginis Legacy. It's most likely going to be a four or five shot. Yeah, let's start.

Chapter 1: Shattered

Rain poured down as usual. Thunder and lightning cracked and flashed. Rain lashed against the windows of the medium sized apartment in the residential section of Dromund Kaas. Inside of said apartment lives a small family of five.

At the kitchen table sat Jay Raginis, an officer in the Imperial Army. He had short cut black hair with specks of grey beginning to show. A cup of cooling caf sat next to him as he scrolled down a datapad. He could hear the content sounds of his three children in the other room. He scowled slightly.

In the other room were four people. The first, closest to the door, was 5 year old Vladislav Raginis. His mop of black hair hanging in his face. He was painting a model of a thunderclap. While it was a Republic ship, it was one that he had a particular interest in. Every so often he would glance up at the other occupants.

Across the room, in a corner, sat 3 year old Hulac quietly. His head was (metaphorically) buried in the datapad he was attempting to read. Even though he had only recently started to learn to read and write, he had an interest in books and the like.

The last two people in the room was 1 year old Fenyx and the three's mother, Faith. Faith was holding Fenyx, who was softly crying. Unlike the rest of the family, who had brown or black hair, Fenyx had bright red hair.

Back in the kitchen, Jay's mood began to decline. As much as he cared for his family, he found himself growing angry at Faith. He had just received word that his brother had been killed in an ambush set by the Republic. Now, it may seem strange that he was angry at his wife. She had been a Republic trooper left behind on one of their missions and, instead of turning her in, he had set a place up for her and the two started a romance. That had been seven years ago. It had been her former squad who had done the ambushing. Things had gone well, but their relationship had grown strained. Fights had started breaking out (though they tried to keep the kids out of it), but it wasn't looking good.

He didn't know that it would crash and burn later that week.

Timeskip a couple days

"If you felt this way, why did you help me the way you did?"

"I've been asking myself the same thing!"

"If that's your line of thinking, I should probably go before I eat a blaster bolt for breakfast!"

"You do that!"

Vladislav could hear his parents arguing from his bedroom. He sniffed. He was home sick (much to his displeasure) that day with a cold. He almost wished he could've gone to school that day. He didn't know exactly what was going on, and he wasn't sure that he wanted to. This argument seemed to be more heated today.

"Pack a travel bag, Vlad. Just essentials."

"Why? What's going on?" He asked, confused and slightly afraid.

"Do it. I'm getting Fenyx."

"What about Hulac?" He asked. His younger brother was in classes, having recently started school.

"Hulac will be fine." Faith said after a seconds hesitation. In honesty, she knew how much her middle child admired his father, stating once that he wanted to be just like him. She couldn't take that from him. She turned to gather the necessities for Fenyx. She would go and see if she could stay at her parents back on Ord Mantell. It was for the best.

Back with the oldest of the Raginis brothers, Vladislav had packed what he needed. He made sure to bring his model thunderclap with him. He took one more look around his room, for he knew that this would most likely be the last time he'd see it, before turning and leaving the house with Fenyx and his mother.

Faith had booked passage off on a Smuggler ship. A XS Stock light freighter was the ship they would be traveling on. With one more look around the spaceport, she boarded the ship.

A few hours later, back at the building

Jay entered the apartment with Hulac trailing behind. The young boy made his way toward where his brother should be. Upon finding him missing, he turned with a questioning look towards his father, "Where is Vlad and Fe? And where is-" He is cut off.

"Gone." Jay snapped before softening his tone, "Dinner will be ready soon. Go unpack and get ready. We'll talk more then."

End Chapter

This is really meant to give some backstory to the characters before I continue on with the other stories surrounding the Raginis Legacy. Yeah. Enjoy.
