CHAPTER I
DAYDREAMS
Darkness... all around me.
I couldn't see, hear, or feel anything.
It was so hard to breathe...
My mind was hazy.
Clouded.
My memories as blank as paper.
For a few terrifying moments, I didn't know who I was or if I had a purpose.
All I knew was that somehow...I was...called...
from deep in my Heart I heard a voice..
I knew that voice, I hadn't heard it in years yet I yearned to touch that face...
I loved her from the very moment I heard her voice, I was hooked...
She had the most beautiful blue eyes her red hair resembled strands of sunset...She and my best friend...Riku... meant more to me than all the worlds combined.
I knew even if it meant oblivion, I would lay down my Life for them...
The Keyblade...Chose me...
I became a Keyblade Master. With the help of Donald, Court Magician of Disney Castle, and Goofy, Captain of the Guard; we saved the worlds from the Heartless and Ansem The Seeker of Darkness.
After I had awoken in Twilight Town I once again journeyed across the Worlds searching for her and Riku.
I fought against Organization XIII and saved Kingdom Hearts from the clutches of Xemnas The Superior...
All...for her...her name always clouds my mind when I rest on the Beaches of Destiny Islands...Kairi...Kairi...
"SORA!"
I fell backwards off of the fallen Palm Tree I had been sitting on.
I sat up sputtering and rubbing sand from my eyes.
The seawater nearly choking me.
The Monday sun shining in my eyes outlining the girl of my dreams... Kairi.
"YOU LAZY BUM!" I wasn't sure why but she looked beautiful when she was angry.
I felt something strike my face stars danced across my vision.
Once my vision cleared I saw Kairi standing with her hands on her hips staring me down.
"YOU JUST LEFT RIKU AND ME TO CLEAN UP THAT WHOLE MESS FROM YOUR STUPID HAIR-BRAINED SCHEME NOW HALF OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD IS OUT LOOKING FOR YOU!"
I jerked "OH!" I put my hand on my face where she had struck me and began to apologize
"I am sooo sorry Kairi I forgot I was supposed to help fix that mess but I guess I lost track of time." that wasn't the whole truth nor was I about to tell her why I lost track of time in the first place.
She scowled and shrugged "Oh well what's done is done but you still need to apologize to everyone who got caught up in that mess." she offered me her hand, I gripped it and hauled myself onto my feet.
As we walked down the street towards the Park, Riku came running up sweating and out of breath.
He bent over with his hands on his knees and huffed, "Sora you had better hide till everyone has cooled off or you are dead meat."
That's when I heard the sound of a mob of people storming down the street towards us.
Tidus' thick accent cut the air "DER HE IS GET IM'!"
Riku took off down the street behind us and screamed "RUN!"
Best idea Riku had to date.
I spun on my heel and ran as hard as I could.
Without even thinking I was headed down Sunset Blvd towards the islet.
The little spit of land my friends and I played on as kids.
After a mile and a half, I hit the beach in a spray of sand.
Dead End.
Riku rounded the corner with Kairi close at hand, "Sora! You've got to swim for it! They're gaining on us!"
I gave him a panicked look, "Are you CRAZY?! That islet is at least two miles away, neither of us can swim that!"
Kairi turned and started searching the shoreline, "Where is the raft?"
Riku instantly began to look for the Raft too, pacing up and down the Beach.
After what felt like ten minutes, I finally found it half buried in a patch of reeds.
The rope was water-logged, but I seized it and tugged.
In a few seconds it came free from the sandy mud with a loud *SHHHLLLLLUCK
Riku was at my side in seconds, "Good job, you found it!" He gave me a quick slap on the back and shoved it into the water with his toe.
While I held it steady, he and Kairi climbed onto the deck.
I hope on behind Riku and handed him one of the oars.
"Now, PADDLE LIKE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON IT!"
By late afternoon we made landfall on the other shore.
Riku and I helped Kairi off the raft and the three of us wandered up to the old clubhouse.
After a full year of storms, I was surprised it was still standing.
The repairs were going to take ages.
Kairi must have had a similar thought because she said, "Maybe we can find some boards laying around that we can use? We have to fix this place up a bit..."
I smiled at her, "I was just thinking the same thing. Riku, wanna lend a hand?"
He scowled at me, "Yeah, we'd better. We won't be able to sleep comfortably in this."
Kairi made her way to the sparring pit beside the Paopu Tree while Riku and I went on our scavenger hunt.
By the time Riku and I had gathered enough wood to make our meager repairs, the sun was touching the western horizon.
We quickly finished after Riku found an old box of nails in the shed.
Kairi came walking up to me and whispered in my ear "Nice work, lazy bum." I looked at her and gave her my goofy smile.
She and I walked into the clubhouse and quickly cleaned out the old cans and bottles from the little kitchen.
I used a quick blast of Aero magic to blow the dust out of the open windows.
Several minutes later Riku came back from the tool shed carrying our old sleeping bags. Mine was blue with the King's (Mickey, not Elvis) symbol on it, Kairi's was pink with pictures of Paopu Fruit on it and Riku's was blue as well but was covered in pictures of skulls
"Emo dork." I thought to myself.
Riku tossed our bags to us, and sat down by the open fireplace.
Two of our left-over planks were piled into it along with a half crumpled 'Adventurer's Outfitters' magazine.
Jabbing the wood with his index finger, Riku barked, "Fire!"
Suddenly the magazine sprung up into a bright crackling blaze.
He leaned back against the wall and smiled in a self-satisfied way.
"Well...when do you think we can show our faces back on the Island?" he asked with a yawn.
Kairi shrugged, "Depends on how long it takes Mr. Shoup to clear all that trash out of the park... I'd say about a month." A deep frown crossed her face.
I sat up, "Well that's no good... maybe we can go pay a visit to our friends in Hollow Bas... er... Radiant Garden and Twilight Town?"
Kairi grinned and Riku nodded thoughtfully, "Not a bad idea... I've got my ship parked in Orange Cave on the north side of the Big Island. If we leave at sunrise, we could get to Radiant Garden by midday."
I laid my head back down on my pillow with my hands folded under it, "Alright, its settled. We will leave for Radiant Garden at sunrise. Better get some sleep guys."
With a huff Kairi shot me a look, "Not a guy here Sora."
I grinned stupidly, "Sorry, guys AND girls."
She smiled and settled back onto her pile of pillows.
Riku rolled over and grunted, "Goodnight folks."
With my eyes on the ceiling, I slowly drifted to sleep.
This is a complete re-write of the original "Power Unknown". After nine long years, I logged back into FanFiction to see the state of things. By Zeus' Golden Knickers, the grammar and flow of this story was ATROCIOUS! How on God's Green Earth did y'all read this and NOT get upset?!
If my High School English teacher ever caught sight of this, she'd drag me back to the school and stamp an 'F' on my forehead.
ANYWHO! I will be rewriting this nonsense. No point in leaving it to rot. As a courtesy for the nostalgia, I will leave the original version up as well. Both will be clearly marked in their titles, (Original) and (Edited).
Welcome back Ladies and Gentlemen! To Mr. Groves' Literal Circus!
LET THE GAMES BEGIN!
