A/N: Well, here I am again! I am still writing my other fic, just slowly. I had this idea and I'm just going to run with it. This opening chapter isn't very long, and honestly, I'm not sure how long this will even be.

Also, I hope you're all staying safe. As mentioned in one of my other fics, I work in a hospital and so updates will be slow but this is my escape so please bear with me. That's also why I haven't been uploading since this pandemic has hit.

Please enjoy.

Please save yourself

Chapter one.

Please do not let the world captivate you, embrace you and parachute you into deepening waters. The parachute will not stop you from drowning but will give you false hope and protect you for only a few moments. Please, I beg of you, if only once, please save yourself.

There is no saving a soul who saves others before herself.

BANG. An explosion. A slight rumble omitting from the ground beneath her feet, a handful of screams echoing the hallway and shards of glass colliding with the floor. Fear beckoning her as the sudden interruption crystallized her thoughts.

BANG. The unresting alarm of a gun. Her body tense, fragile and paralyzed. A familiar figure fighting to find help. Blood. Crimson liquid pouring as the fear engulfed him. Screams, again. They were all reliving the same horror show. Eddie Lawson. Kind, caring and undoubtedly the most beautiful soul. Whisking people to safety whilst her own demons trapped her in complex surroundings. She could rely on him to keep them safe.

The fear of the unknown. Miss Mason. Missing. A leader and yet nowhere to be seen. She was unaccounted for. Confusion, anger, panic and heartache. An underlying frustration rising in his body. He should have gone with her. Marching towards the burning building, he braced himself for the dangerous environment. He, however, was stopped by a resilient policeman ready to restrict him from entering further. A war? A battle? He had to save her. Emotions running high, his voice almost shaking.
'The heads still in there .. she's still in there!' his voice sharp with anger. Evident to staff and pupils, this was a man afraid of what might happen to a certain headmistress. 'Why don't you send someone to find her?!' authority laced his tone before he was pulled away against his own will.

A second and yet it were almost minutes. She had found her feet. His brain locked to that same memory. The fire. The devastation of her running into danger. Her life at risk, again. Preparing himself for the same battle, the same risk of exposure that he would throw himself into, all for her. The exposure and vulnerability of his life, and yet more importantly, his love for her. 'Rachel!' his legs took him briskly to follow her. Ralph Mellor. His battle, her battle, their battle. His bellows clear as he forced his way through 'Let go .. let me go!' His temptation to somewhat use his anger to fight Ralph Mellor had been at an all-time high. However, he knew she'd disapprove and he couldn't let her children down. They needed them. He took a few steps back, cautious but keeping his eyes on the entrance in hope she would return to him, alive. He begged for her survival so he could finally open his heart. He pleaded that for once, she would save herself.
