Chapter 20.
This is the twentieth chapter. Hope you enjoy it. Will Mark survive or die in the Blip? Wait and see!
Mark could hardly process what happened next, but from what he could make out, Thor suddenly recovered, surrounded them all in some kind of white portal, which made them rapidly move through space. And before he knew it, he saw them approach a familiar blue and green planet he had not seen been to in years. His home. Earth. Just as his mind began to process what he saw in front of him, suddenly the portal went down to the surface, which after a few seconds, Thor unleashed the Stormbreaker, which then came back to him, reminding Mark of a Boomerang, just as the portal disappeared. As Mark shook his head a few times, standing behind and in between Groot and Thor, shaking his paws and paw fingers slightly in preparation, he looked ahead to see that he was probably in Africa, and could see before them an army of alien creatures. "YOU GUYS ARE SO SCREWED NOW!" He heard a voice laugh, before Thor started moving forwards, Mark and the others following afterwards. "BRING ME THANOS!" Thor roared as blue lightning started coming from him, as he and the others then started running, Groot yelling. Thor then suddenly took off into the air, before he then landed back on the ground, a large amount of lightning killing a load of aliens around him.
Mark ran forwards as several aliens came running towards him. He then held his arms up and fired a paw blast from each paw, the red blast reaching the first few aliens, and then exploded in red, killing some of them, but the rest then kept charging. He then fired more less powerful blasts from both paws at each of the aliens, which killed them all. As he fired, he began to contemplate where he was, also noticing the battle was within a massive light blue shield, ad saw some modern, high tech looking skyscrapers nearby. He was on Earth. He was back home. After four to five years of being in space, he was finally back on Earth. "I know this soil. This grass. This air." He thought in his head, stopping himself from kissing the ground, as he felt the grass on his hind paws, and sniffed the air, thought he caught loads of other smells. He then looked left to see Thor chatting to a bearded man whom looked like Captain America, which he then realised it was him. He still remembered the shock of hearing about him during the invasion in 2012. He thought of asking a question or two, but he knew this wasn't the time for questions, so he just kept paw blasting aliens. His little red barrage was kept until he heard a lot of rumbling sounds. Turning around to see where it was coming from, he then saw parts of the ground breaking upwards, and seconds later, he saw huge sets of wheels emerging from the ground, which then headed towards them. "FALL BACK! FALL BACK NOW!" He heard a voice yell, before turning around and also running away, along with everyone else on the good side. He kept running, then turned his head to look back as he saw somehow the wheels were being lifted up into the air, before they suddenly moved against the enemy, killing loads of them. He stopped running and then, the remaining aliens came near him, he once again kept firing his paw blasts, until he saw them turn around and scram back to their ships beyond the shield. They were retreating! "Mark!" He heard Rocket's voice, which made him turn around rightwards to see Rocket running in a rightwards direction. He then felt a strange wind blowing, which made a chill of worry run down his spine. "Something's wrong! We gotta move!" Rocket cried as he ran in the direction. Mark then ran after him the that direction.
They both ran until they came up to the edge of a nearby woods. Mark stopped in his tracks, grabbed Rocket's shoulder with his left paw as he saw through the trees a large figure with five glowing objects on a gold gauntlet, the same as he'd seen on Nidavellir on his left hand, obviously the Infinity Stones. It didn't take a genius for Mark to know whom he was seeing. Thanos! "There he is. Thanos. Despite me trying to not be where he is, he's here where I am." He thought in his head, knowing that Rocket was staying something to him, asking him why he'd stopped him, but Mark didn't hear a thing, his whole mind focused on what he saw ahead. He then mentally scolded himself for his cowardly behaviour, letting go of Rocket's shoulder, and they both ran forwards. "No more running." He said bravely just as he started running. But a few steps forward and suddenly a large yellow blast and a loud BOOM! came from within the trees, which made them both fall back onto their backs, sliding backwards in the ground. Dazed from the blast and doing a groan, he shook his head twice as he slowly, as he bent his upper body upwards and saw the yellow blast again, but somehow it almost as if it was in reverse. He then scrambled back onto his hind paws and ran towards the trees, noticing a strange colour coming from the tress again, but this was a lot less bright.
Mark again stopped when he saw familiar blue lightning bolts. He instantly knew it was Thor, who then flew downwards toward Thanos and he then hm throw Stormbreaker towards the trees, seeing a white beam shoot at the axe, but it had no effect on it. He saw a bright white light shine for a second, before it went out. "I told you… you'd die for that." He heard Thor say, before he then heard the sound of bones cracking, and screaming, then laboured breathing. "You… you should've gone for the head." He a weak voice whom he guessed was Thanos's. Suddenly a bright white light erupted from the tress, also hearing another BOOM! and a CLICK! Sound. He ran forwards again, smelling smoke, entered the trees, and saw Thor standing in front of Thanos, Stormbreaker stabbed within Thanos's chest, and saw the gold gauntlet smoking and a mess. "What did you do? WHAT'D YOU DO?" Thor asked. Thanos didn't answer, before clenching his left hand into a fist, and suddenly a blue portal engulfed him, which made him disappear, leaving only Stormbreaker, which was covered in blood, left. He then remembered what Gamora had said, that he'd able to wipe out half the universe just by snapping his fingers. "Oh, no. He snapped his fingers! He snapped them! We've lost!" He thought in his head, frantically and filled with panic. He then turned his head around to see dozens of their African warrior allies turn literally to dust. He then looked leftwards to see Rocket and Groot, who was lying on the floor. He then noticed Groot was turning to dust, which made his mouth gape open. "I am Groot." He heard Groot say, calling Rocket "Dad", which made Mark feel slightly emotional. "Oh. No, no, no, no! Groot. No." Rocket said sadly as he walked up to Groot, whose entire body then turned to dust. "Oh, Groot." Mark spoke with a breaking voice, a tear going down his furry face. "Oh, guys. Wherever you are, I hope some of you survive." Mark thought in his head again as he and Rocket then walked to where the remaining Avengers were, Mark going in front of Rocket's left, and fell down onto his knees, his head staring down in sadness. "What is this? What the hell is happening?" He heard one of the Avengers ask, just no one responded.
A few hours later, Avengers Compound, Upstate New York…
The Avengers flew back to the United States in an aircraft called the "Quinjet". They flew for several hours, everybody silent the entire flight. Soon, they landed back at their facility and they all excited the jet. He had introduced himself to the Avengers, who gave them their names, and some were surprised/confused, particularly a man called Rhodes, as to why he looked like a Dog, especially "from space". Once they were back indoors, Mark then suddenly thought of something, and walked away from the others, looked around the place, and went over to one of the touchscreen walls, pressed it with his left index paw finger, and a touchscreen keyboard came on. "What are you doing?" He heard a voice ask, turned his head leftwards to see Natasha Romanoff facing him. "Remember when I said I was once a human? Well, I'm going to try and find if anything has happened to my family." Mark answered. "They won't know everyone who's turned to dust yet. And you may not like what you find." She replied, before she turned rightwards and walked away. Mark then looked back at the keyboard and typed in "Wulfson". A few seconds passed, which a screen appeared, with a few seconds filled with folders moving downwards, and then the screen showed a newspaper clipping. His eye's widened when he saw the headline "HUSBAND AND WIFE COMMIT SUICIDE." As he read the clipping, he learned that, by neighbours and friends commenting, that when their son (Mark) mysteriously disappeared, the Wulfson's had put everything they had in trying to find them. Their time, their money, everything. Eventually, two years ago, in 2016, they had given up hope, believed him to be dead, and killed themselves to join him. Mark's motional state went more sadder than it's ever been before. He had hoped for years that he would see them again, but now realised that hope had been false hope. His mouth then dropped open as he closed his eyes and began sobbing. He fell to his knees again and placed his paws over his shut teary eyes, sobbing hi heart out. This was literally the worst day of his life.
And that's the twentieth chapter done. And I've uploaded it early, on a Friday, huh! So, Mark survived the Snap, but finds out his parents have been head for 2 years. Poor him. And Avengers Infinity War comes to close. Sorry if it was short.
