Chapter 26.
This is the twenty-sixth chapter. Hope you enjoy it.
The yelling then started, then everyone, including Mark charged forwards. The battle of the universe had begun. Closer and closer they advanced towards the enemy, until they both impacted and the fighting began, as Mark fired Paw Blasts from both paws at the first aliens he saw in front of him. He then started moving around, Paw Blasting any aliens he saw, either heading towards or heading behind their allies. He moved behind an African girl with two blasters in her hands, and Paw blasted a few alien soldiers to his right, saw Drax charge then jump up onto a big alien that was holding Miek, yelling as he stabbed his knives into its back, though it had little effect, then Miek then killed the alien by swinging his weapon.
He then moved on, Paw Blasting any aliens that were either heading towards him, or that nobody was currently fighting. He then spotted off to his right, Quill killing fighting with a pair of aliens among a pile of wreckage. He then ran over towards him, seeing how Quill killed one of them, but the second one knocked him on the floor. Mark was just about to raise his left arm to fire a Paw Blast when the alien was strangely shot in the back. The alien fell down on top of Quill, and what Mark saw then made his mouth gap open and his eyes widen: Gamora was standing there, alive! At first, Mark refused to believe it, as she wasn't killed by the Infinity Stones, so they couldn't have brought her back. Then he narrowed his eyes as he noticed there was something different about her, as Quill moved the alien off his body, and then looked up. Her clothes were pretty much the same as those when they'd first met, 9 years ago. He then saw Quill turn off his mask. "Gamora?" He spoke, Mark hearing his voice for the first time in 5 years. He watched as Quill got up on his feet and walked towards her. Mark moved to within the wreckage Quill had just been in, seeing that Gamora just stared at Quill as he came up to her. "I thought I lost you." He heard Quill say, as he moved his left hand up to touch her right cheek. She then grabbed his arm with her right hand, then moved and twisted his arm away from her face. "Ow." He heard Quill say, before Gamora then kicked twice him in his Gentleman's region, making him fall onto his back. "Don't touch me." Gamora hissed as Quill fell down. Mark moved forwards by 2 feet. "You missed the first time. Then you got them both the second time." Quill groaned, as Mark saw Nebula walk up to Gamora. "This is the one? Seriously?" Gamora asked Nebula. "The choices were him or a tree." Nebula answered, as Mark finally put the pieces together, as he stepped out of the wreckage and up to them. "Let me guess. Gamora from the past? And where have you been, Nebula?" He asked, before Gamora then thrusted a sword she in her left hand towards him, the tip of the blade just a few centimetres from his furry throat. Mark instantly put both his paws up. "Whoa, whoa, whoa! Don't! I'm with him and her." He said rapidly, pointing with his left index paw at Quill and then Nebula. "I'll explain later." Nebula explained, before Gamora moved the blade down, and Mark turned around and ran back towards the battlefield.
He kept on Paw Blasting as many aliens he could shot, barely paying any noticed his energy and how long he'd been doing it, the only matter on his mind was the battle and the determination to win. He suddenly then heard a lot of blasting sounds coming from above, looked up at the alien ship, and for a moment his eyes caught a dozen light blue blasts heading downwards towards the battlefield, (their direction meaning they came from the ship), then an explosion happened before him, the blast knocking him off his paws and he fell on the ground. He looked to his right, seeing loads of over blasts impacting the ground, knocking everyone onto the ground. He noticed some of them form strange orange shields over themselves, but they didn't cover the whole area. He noticed some dust was flying from the explosions, so he placed his goggles over his head again. Minutes past, and more and more blasts hit the ground, which made Mark curl up his hind paws, to his stomach and hold both his other paws behind his furry head, which he moved downwards, closing his eyes. He heard the cry's and grunts of the others, among them Rockets, just moments before his Dog hearing then picked something up: the sounds of the explosions just stopped. He opened his eyes and, using both his paws and hind legs which were still on the ground, he moved his upper body upwards, looking up as the ships guns then started firing up into the sky. He turned around, still looking up and saw an orange flaming thing heading towards the ship, the blasts not stopping it at all. Instantly knowing what, no, who it was, Mark grinned as it impacted the ship, flying through it in the centre and the lower right wing, then laughed triumphantly, as he heard Rocket say "Oh, yeah!", taking out the device he'd used earlier with his left paw. "Yes! Yes! She got my signal!" He yelled as he laughed, waving the device in his outstretched left arm ecstatically like a child with a gift. Everyone who knew probably noticed by then it was Danvers, which it was, as she struck the ship again and flew above it, as it then went down.
Placing the device back in its pouch, Mark then looked around at the battlefield, and then looked at the others. "WHAT ARE WE ALL STANDIND AROUND FOR?! PRESS THE ATTACK!" He screamed at the top of his voice, before everyone who was still on the ground then got up on their feet and then charged again or kept fighting. He then joined them and went back to fighting, Paw Blasting every alien he had the chance to kill. For a while, this action kept going on and on, until he spotted an alien heading towards him to his right, turned in that direction and pointed both paws towards it, then his ears caught the sound of a familiar zapping sound he heard who knows how long ago, but just before he was about to fire a Paw Blast from both paws, the alien literally turned to dust! He remembered the same thing happened to some of them 5 years ago, and it hit them: Someone had snapped the Infinity Stone, likely at their own risk, and made the alien army turn to dust. He placed his arms and paws down as he looked around to see all the aliens turn to dust, including the dead and the wreckage of the ship. Pretty soon there was no trace left at all of the alien army that had been here. A smile formed on his face with the realisation that they've won! They did it! His smile feed as he saw some of the others gathered around Stark, who was lying against a structure, his right side covered in burns, some of his friends around him, and then he stood still, as he watched Stark die. A touch of sadness and grief filled him as they'd accomplished what they'd set out to do, but with great sacrifice. But it was not in vain and for nothing as his and Romanoff's sacrifice had ensured that everyone who had turned to dust were now back. Families could be reunited. Sort of like his.
And that's the twenty-sixth chapter done, and I wrote it in a single day, (Friday 13th August) wow! Hope you enjoyed it. I might have rushed writing this chapter as I fear this weekend might be a bit busier than usual for me. Hope the battle parts were all right, but I just couldn't think of much (by the way, the woman he was behind was Shurak). So, Mark had a part to play in Danver's coming to Earth to help. The next chapter will be out soon. Please leave a review.
A few days ago, the IPCC (Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) released a serious report on climate change, declaring "Code Red for humanity", which is linked to the current and recent forest fires across the Mediterranean (for instance Greece and Algeria) and record-breaking heatwaves, recent and current across Europe (on August 11 2021, the highest temperature ever recorded in European history was reported at 48.8 degrees Celsius (119.84 degrees Fahrenheit if you live in the USA)! I hope this report will help serve as a wake-up call, and I hope to goodness that the politicians, and also voting public will come to their senses.
