AN: Hi everyone, this idea has been sitting in my brain for a couple of months now and I finally got around to it. I saw a prompt a couple of months ago and this story just could not get out of my head. So I hope you enjoy it, and make sure to review and follow, so I know that people are enjoying this story. This is only the prologue, the other chapters will be much longer.
Disclaimer: I do not own TMI and remember I am not an author, and I have no beta. So my grammar might be rough. See you all at the bottom.
Description: Jace Herondale has a very different life and is lonely at times. He regularly skips family dinners, has no friends and is a hitman 7 days a week. A failed hit leaves Jace miserable, but the evening takes a turn when a letter arrives from a new client wanting him to kill her dad.
Twenty-Six Dollars and Fifty-Six Dollars
Prologue (0.4K+)
I climb the stairs of my house and slam the door shut behind me, running my hands through my hair. I failed last night, and I could not reach my target. Weeks of planning and a dog moved at the last minute, and I could not take the shot. I had been planning this for weeks; I missed several family dinners for this, only to fail at the last minute.
I yank my shirt off, and as I am about to turn the water of the shower on, I hear soft steps at the door and a quiet knock. I rip my gun from my waistband and aim. I step out of from the bathroom and move across my living room towards the door that has yet to be opened. I stand beside the door and listen before looking through the peephole. Nothing is out there. I open the big brown door and glance into the boring brown hallway with only pictures of ducks on the walls. Never trust a duck.
As I examine the hallway, I find no one. As I take a step back into my apartment, I hear a crunch and freeze. The sound came from beneath me, and I glance down. There is an envelope lying on my poor woven foot matt that has seen better days. I bend down and pick up the plain white envelope and step inside my apartment.
I walk towards my black leather couch and collapse. I pull the envelope open, and there is a letter with twenty-six dollars and fifty-six cents all in change inside.
I pull the letter open and begin reading.
Hi Sir,
I have seen you around, and I need your help. I have seen you at my house, and you seem strong. I need someone strong, kind of like the hulk. My daddy is hurting my mommy, and he is a monster. She is hurt and needs to be saved. Please save us. I took what I could find from the couch, along with Christmas and my tooth fairy money.

Love Alexis
I sit there, amazed at what I just read. The writing is obviously a child's, but the request is unheard of for me. A child found me; even if she does not know my profession, she sees my demons. I am a violent man, but I only take the jobs of people who deserve to be punished. If this girl is right, then this scum bag is exactly my type.
I pull my shiny new iPhone X out of my pocket and plug in the address. Google tells me it's a 5-minute walk away. I jump off the couch and grab a shirt laying on the back of one of my chairs, and rush outside, running out of there as soon as possible. I have a girl to save.
AN: So did you like it? Interested? I am thinking it will be around 10 chapters long. Let me know if you enjoy it!
