Halloween was already around the corner again. Things went smoothly for everyone. Just their normal ways. If everything went well, Zoey would graduate and have her PHD's by the end of next semester. She was excited! Caltech already offered her a space in their physics program.
The kids grew quickly, everyday Halley and Michael came home and had learned new things. Soon James and Riley would follow, they were both almost 1 and changed a lot.
It made Amy eager to finally be pregnant of her own, but it felt like things went so slow. Sheldon calculated everything, but so far they hadn't been lucky. Sheldon, of course, didn't really mind.
But today was testing day again. That time of the month Amy always tested, She was prepared to be disappointed again. She closed her eyes and with trembling hands, picked up the test.
Sheldon was pacing back and forth, why was Amy taking so long?
"Sheldon! Relax!" Zoey said rolling her eyes and casually scrolling through her phone. He ignored her.
"We're going to be late," he mumbled. That's when Amy finally appeared. Amy looked nervous but so happy at the same time.
She took a deep breath and walked closer to both of them with the test in her pocket.
"You took an awfully long time to get out of there. Are you okay?" Sheldon asked. Amy swallowed.
"No." She almost whispered it. Zoey looked up from her phone.
"What's wrong?" She also asked. They looked so much alike, even if they weren't related. They had the same worried look on their faces—the same attitude. Amy fell in love with them right there all over again. She took another deep breath and grabbed the test out of her pocket.
"I, I am pregnant." She softly said without looking at one of them. Zoey's eyes became big. Sheldon just stood there. He was afraid; Did he regret his decision to do this? It all of a sudden was so real! He started debating with himself if this was a good idea after all.
"OMG, Amy!" Zoey jumped up. She hugged her.
"That's amazing!" Amy could cry. She loved her enthusiasm.
"Sheldon?" She tried fearfully while letting go of Zoey. He was lost in thought but brought back when she called for him.
"We're going to be late." He burst out. Zoey sighed.
"Sheldon!" she gave him a sign.
"Oh, right." He shook his head. He was so confused.
"I am terrified." He said honestly, that was not supposed to come out of his mouth?
"I am too, that's okay." Amy tried.
"you will do great, both of you!" Zoey reassured them. Sheldon stared again; he didn't know how to react.
"I don't know what to do now." He stated, looking at both of them.
"Are you happy?" Fear was clearly in Amy's voice. Sheldon grabbed her shoulders.
"I am, I think, I just don't know what to do. Should I call a doctor? Do I need to tell anyone? Do I need to help you? I am confused" He was honest again, slightly panicking while asking those questions. Amy hugged him, which calmed him down.
"We'll figure everything out together." He nodded.
"You're probably right." Zoey smiled from a distance.
"So, mom, dad, are we going now?" She joked. But neither of them reacted to her calling them that.
"Yeah, right, I'll take my bag sweetheart," Amy simply said but was stopped by Sheldon.
"I'll do it," she smiled.
Leonard and Penny had taken the day of. They wanted to have a family day. Mostly Leonard actually. They went to the park. Penny was sitting on a bench while Leonard was trying to teach James not to eat sand. She shook her head. It was weird to think he was hers. He mostly even looked like Leonard which didn't help. Penny sighed. "Only one kid! No more!" She said to herself. Leonard walked up to her.
"Someone is gonna need a bath," he laughed. Penny nodded and slightly smiled.
"Let's go get something to eat." She changed the subject.
"Oh yes, want some ice cream buddy?" He stood up again and made James giggle. Penny slowly followed them. She felt nauseous all of a sudden. She tried to shake it off but decided to skip the ice cream.
Amy had decided to call the doctor to get a blood test, so she was 100% sure she was pregnant. Luckily he had some space left right before noon. All she had to do was wait for the results now. It shouldn't take too long. Zoey was texting her all day, but Amy was ignoring her. She wanted to think about other stuff first. Things she wanted to discuss with Sheldon mainly about Zoey. She just arrived at the university when the doctor already called her back.
"Congratulations, Doctor Fowler." He said Amy could cry.
Zoey was frustrated, why did Amy not answer? Kristoff bumped her arm with his.
"Your gonna have wrinkles." He laughed. She rolled her eyes.
"Whats up ZoeZoe?" A sigh escaped her mouth.
"I can't really tell you, but Amy is ignoring me," He nodded.
"I guess something was up this morning?" He didn't get a reaction, but he knew what that meant.
"It will be fine, just talk to her tonight, she's probably just thinking."
"You're probably right." He smirked.
"Of course I am!" She playfully hit him when Tiffany joined.
"Are we gonna be violent now?" She said laughing.
"Tiff! Help me; she is abusive!" Kristoff went on with it.
"Hey!" Zoey yelled laughing.
"We love you too!" Tiffany winked.
After Amy told Sheldon that the blood test confirmed the pregnancy, they decided to invite Mary over for the weekend, they would tell her then. Amy wanted to wait with her parents cause her mom would be way too much to handle. Mary tried to figure out why they specifically wanted her to come over. But when they refused to tell her, she just gave in.
Raj went to get Riley later that day; she was always so excited to see him. As he was excited to see her. He put her on the floor of his apartment. He had a special corner reserved for her with all her toys. She crawled around from toy to toy while he did some chores. When he turned around, he saw Riley walking! His eyes became big. She fell back on her butt.
"Did you just? Walk?" Raj couldn't believe it. He ran to her and picked her up swirling her around. Riley giggled loudly, the one thing she was known for.
"My baby can walk!" Raj yelled.
"Do you know how much papa loves you?" He said while hugging her.
"You made everything so much better!" His heart was overflown with love for his daughter. He hadn't felt so happy for so long. He never realised how much a child of his own would change his life.
Zoey sighed, dropping herself on her couch. She had to take the bus for the first time in a very long time. Amy had to go to a doctors appointment was what she had told Zoey. Sheldon was also going with Amy. Zoey felt lonely, she was so used to hanging around the both of them that it was almost strange to be in her own apartment. It was so quiet. She had a feeling that she would spend a lot more of her time here. It reminded her a little of all her foster homes. She shook her head to shake the thought away. No, they won't abandon her. They just need some things arranged now, that's normal with a baby on the way. Zoey took her laptop and started searching; She needed to buy some cool stuff for the new baby too as a fun "aunty" that was mandatory.
A FEW DAYS LATER
Mary arrived in the apartment of Sheldon and Amy.
"Where is the girl?" That was the first thing she asked. At that exact moment, a knock came from the door. It was Zoey.
"I saw you arrive!" Mary happily hugged her.
"I missed you all!" She laughed. Amy brought her some tea. Sheldon was sitting in his spot observing the situation. Mary went to sit down. So did Zoey after Amy made a gesture to her. She hadn't seen them a lot last couple of days. Except for some classes, she hadn't seen them at all actually.
"Why did you want me to come over so badly now?" Mary tried again. Which brought Zoey back from her thoughts. Amy nervously started playing with her hands. Mary frowned looking at Sheldon. Who had fear in his eyes. How was he supposed to tell his mom this? Was there a way you were supposed to do this or did you just say these things? Maybe he should have called his sister to ask this.
"Shelly?" Mary sounded worried. Zoey giggled and took Amy's hand. Amy took a deep breath, nodding towards Zoey to show her she appreciated the gesture.
"Mary, we need to tell you something." Mary just gave her a meaningful look.
"I know, now spill the tea."
"Amy is pregnant!" Sheldon blurted out. Mary's mouth fell open.
"What?" Amy nodded.
"I am expecting, you are gonna be a grandmother again," Amy added. Mary hugged her son and then ran to Amy to do the same.
"Jesus has heard my prayers for you, Shelly! I am so happy for you guys!" Right when Amy wanted to answer, Mary's phone went off.
Bernadette was doing the dishes with Howard. Halley was trying to help, Michael was simply playing around. Howard rolled his eyes multiple times while Halley kept going on about her best friend in class.
"His name is Tom, and he has a pet turtle!" She blabbered. Bernadette nodded encouraging her to continue.
"He has a little brother but also an older brother."
"Three boys, great!" Howard answered sarcastically. Halley smiled.
"No, his sister is still on the way."
"Four kids?" Bernadette was shocked.
"I thought two was hard." Howard threw the kitchen towel away.
"Enough baby talk, I am finally through that and I am very happy with my toddlers, thank you!" He said picking up Michael and walking to the living room. Raj just walked into the house when Bernadette and Halley followed Howard.
"What are you wearing?" Howard hid his face in his hand.
"Our Halloween costumes! Do you like it?" Raj said, enthusiast.
"What is it?" Bernadette asked cringing.
"I am donkey! She is the dragon! From Shrek?" Halley giggled.
"You look cute."
"Really Raj? Shrek?" Howard said unbelievable. Raj just shrugged.
"I tried Shrek and Fiona but then I looked like the hulk and that was not what I was going for so I decided to try this instead." Bernadette laughed.
"Of course but I am not going as a character from Shrek!" She warned him. Raj shook his head.
"Not necessary," He settled Riley on the ground when she walked towards Michael.
"She can walk?" Bernadette clapped in her hands.
"Yes!" Raj was proud.
"They grow quickly, before you know it, she starts saying, daddy!" Raj sighed, way too quickly. That's when their phones went off. They all got a text message from Zoey.
As did Leonard. Penny, on the other hand, didn't get a text message. Leonard went to open it and gasped.
"Something wrong?" Penny asked but before Leonard could answer her phone buzzed. Amy was calling.
"What is going on?" She said while picking up.
"Hey, bestie!" Penny cheerfully said.
"What's up?" At first, there wasn't really a response from the other side of the phone.
"Amy?" She heard a deep breath being taken when Amy finally answered.
"Sheldon's Meemaw just passed away."
