When Yorudan's eyes opened, he saw the ceiling of a room. It seemed somewhat familiar. His eyesight was fuzzy and his head was pounding. Once his eyesight had finally cleared, he lifted his head to look around at his surroundings. As his head lifted, he felt a damp cloth slide off his forehead and onto the floor. He was in his bedroom at the Kame House.
After taking a moment to collect himself, he managed to slowly get himself up from his bed, but he found it somewhat difficult because he was dizzy. All he remembered was that the killer bees had surrounded him and pierced him with their stingers.
Yorudan made his way towards the wall to hold himself up and eventually came to the stairs. He held onto the railing and when he got to the bottom of the steps, he saw Master Roshi, Bulma, Pan, Goku and Vegeta. When they heard the bottom step creak, they looked towards the steps to see a bandaged Yorudan.
"Yorudan!" Pan got up from her seat and rushed towards Yorudan to give him assistance. He put his arm around her shoulder to use her as leverage.
"My goodness!" said Bulma. "What are you doing up? You should be resting in bed!"
Yorudan sat down on the couch with the help of Pan. "Thanks Pan," said Yorudan. "I feel fine, Bulma. Just a little woozy."
"She's right, you know," said Master Roshi. "You're lucky to be alive, sonny. Twenty-seven bees stung you before you passed out." And it only takes ten to kill someone. It's curious as to why you're still alive.
"Twenty-seven?" asked Yorudan. "I've never been stung by a bee before. And they were killer bees too, weren't they?"
"Mhmm, they were," said Master Roshi, his hands behind his back.
Yorudan looked at his half wrapped hands. "But, I feel fine. Shouldn't I be dead?"
"You should be," said Master Roshi. "But thanks to Goku, he sensed that you were in danger and managed to get a senzu bean in you before it was too late."
"A what?" asked Yorudan.
"Senzu bean. It's a special bean grown by our friend, Korin. It restores your energy and heals any injuries you have. Luckily, those injuries included those bee stings."
"I'll be honest with you, Yorudan. Even with the senzu beans, it's a miracle you're alive," said Pan. "Have you always been able to heal quickly?"
"It's probably his raw energy in him that protected him," said a low, raspy voice coming from the direction of Vegeta. "The same would happen with Krillin and Yamcha."
Yorudan kept his head down in disappointment, then punched the couch. "I'm so mad!" he shouted. "This was a horrible day! The worst training I've ever done for anything! Why can't I be good?" Suddenly the wraps and bandages fell off from his bee stings, revealing healthy, smooth skin and no signs of any bee stings.
Bulma put a hand on Yorudan's back. Pan held her hand to her mouth, feeling pity for him. Master Roshi remained in his stance with his hands behind his back. Goku and Vegeta were standing in the kitchen, both smiling. They loved Yorudan's enthusiasm and will to always have perfection.
"C'mon, Yorudan!" said Goku, upbeat as always. "Let's go out to the shore." He walked over to Yorudan and put his hand beside his mouth, as if to tell him a secret. "I got a cool story to tell you!"
"Oh! Grandpa! I'm coming too!" said Pan. Before Goku could answer her, she was already out the door, waiting for the two to follow her. Yorudan got up from his seat, heading to the door and Goku followed.
Once the door was shut and the three of them were by the water, Goku turned to face Yorudan and Pan. "Let's not tell Master Roshi this, but I think you need to learn how to harness some of that energy of yours," said Goku. "Pan, I want you to help me teach Yorudan!"
"You got it, gramps!"
"Ok, so I want you to bring out your ki," said Goku. "Whenever you're ready!"
Pan slapped her forehead with her palm. "Gramps, he needs to learn how to do that first. You just said that he needs to learn it!"
Goku stared at Pan with a blank stare and then started giggling. He put his hand behind his head. "I guess you're right!" he said with a big smile. "Alright, right down to the basics!
"So, first thing's first, Yorudan. Before I teach you how to control your energy, I need to teach you how to find it and then pull it out. You probably won't get it on your first try, but I wouldn't be surprised if you did either! There's no need to be in a hurry for this one. Just focus on one task at a time."
"Alright, so how do I pull my energy out?" asked Yorudan.
"This is the tricky part for most. You need to look inside of you and feel the energy that you have surging through your veins, your nerves, your blood, your bones, your muscles. This energy throughout your body flows in you but you need to search for its source and pull it out."
"How do I know what I'm looking for?"
Pan smiled. "You'll know when you find it. Meditation is key here, so close your eyes and focus. You'll begin to feel a chill go down your spine if you do it right!"
Yorudan nodded and began to focus on finding his energy source. When he shut his eyes, he suddenly gained access to his senses in a way he had never before. The breeze carried the smells of the seas: the salt, the fish and the water. He could hear the waves lightly crashing into the shore and the gulls in the distance circling around, trying to look for their next meal. Each grain of sand that was lodged between his toes could be felt, the sizes of them varying in a way Yorudan never thought of. Some were smooth, others were rugged.
Yorudan opened his eyes, and when he did, he found himself still on the shores of the Kame House, except, he was alone, it seemed. Goku and Pan were not around him, the gulls were still squawking but were nowhere to be seen.
"Hello?" Yorudan called out. Nothing. He tried again and still nothing. With no one around, he tried to stay calm and figured it would be best to go inside the Kame House. Maybe Goku and Pan had gone inside to give him more space to concentrate.
He reached the door and when he opened it, he saw the last person he'd expected to be sitting on the couch: himself. Yorudan wasn't sure why he saw himself sitting on the couch, so he proceeded cautiously.
"Hello?" he said. "Can you hear me?"
The other Yorudan seemed to be looking at his nails. "Yes, I heard you the first two times, too. Quiet down."
Yorudan was taken aback, but he kept his composure. "What is this place?"
"It's you, stupid. We're inside of you. You're trying to find your energy, right?"
How does he-?
"I know because I am you. Or at least, some variation of you."
"Some variation of me? I don't understand."
"Of course you don't. Your dad didn't explain anything to you." Yorudan from the couch had got up from his seat and started walking towards the door. When he noticed that Yorudan wasn't following him, he stopped and turned around to face him. "Are you coming or not?"
"Oh, sorry. Yes!" Yorudan hurried to follow himself out the door.
He found himself standing beside the other variation of himself, staring out into the ocean. "It's pretty impressive that you can create this through your first attempt at meditation," Other Yorudan said. "It's almost exactly how it looks on the outside. For some reason, you couldn't get the seagulls right."
"I created this? How?"
"With your mind. You used your senses other than sight. This is the first step in trying to harness your power."
"What kind of power? Goku seems to think I'm special."
Other Yorudan smiled. "He's not wrong. It's because you're a saiyan."
Yorudan stood still for a moment, thinking about what his other self just said, then began to laugh hysterically to the point he had to hold his stomach and lay on the sand. "You think I'm a saiyan? That's too funny. Saiyans are aliens! And my parents-," Yorudan stopped for a moment to laugh some more and catch his breath, then he stood on his feet again, "my parents were both born here. Well, here, as in Earth." He wiped the tears from his eyes.
Other Yorudan smiled at him, then turned on his heel and began walking along the shoreline. "Suit yourself, then. I guess you'll have to tell Goku and Pan that you can't bring your energy out."
"Whoa, wait!" Yorudan cried out and began chasing down his other self. "So until I accept your lie, you won't help me find this hidden energy of mine?"
"Oh no, you already found your energy. You just have to bring it out."
Yorudan wasn't sure what he meant, but he thought about what his other self had said in the Kame House and suddenly a light bulb turned on. "You're my energy. I need to bring you out with me."
"Ding ding ding! He got it right! Took you long enough. But here's the thing: I'm not going with you."
"What? Why? I'm supposed to become the new protector of the Earth. I can't do that if you're here."
"And that's exactly why I don't want to go with you. You're going to be able to protect the Earth. I don't like that."
"I don't understand."
Other Yorudan stopped walking. "You really have no idea about saiyans, do you?"
Yorudan shook his head. "I've only been introduced to this stuff not too long ago. Today was my first day of training."
"Doesn't surprise me. First day of training or last day, I'm still not coming out with you."
"And you still haven't told me why."
Other Yorudan sighed before beginning. "Both of your parents are saiyans. Why they haven't said anything to you is a mystery, but I can't imagine it was anything else but to keep you safe from any danger."
"What kind of danger? And what does this have to do with you not coming with me?"
"Just listen and let me explain. The kind of danger that would make you enemies for being a saiyan. Has Goku told you about his arch nemesis, Frieza?"
Yorudan shook his head.
"A long time ago, there was a planet called Vegeta, the home of saiyans. Frieza felt threatened by the saiyans and so, he blew up the planet. Goku and Vegeta managed to survive, but over time, they discovered more saiyans survived the destruction as well.
"It was always believed Frieza felt threatened by them because of the legendary Super Saiyan. If a saiyan were to attain this amount of power, Frieza wouldn't stand a chance against them, even in his final form. But, I can tell you that that's false. It wasn't the Super Saiyan he was afraid of, it was the Evil Saiyan inside each one of us."
"The Evil Saiyan? I don't understand."
"Neither does Goku or Vegeta." Other Yorudan began walking again, Yorudan falling in beside him. "I don't think you realize the kind of fighters that are training you. Goku and Vegeta are the smartest fighters that you will ever get to know. They don't even know about the Evil Saiyan."
"Who is this Evil Saiyan?"
"You are. And Goku. Vegeta, too. We're all Evil Saiyans. Every saiyan is one, regardless if you're full blooded."
Yorudan began to open his mouth to say something, but Other Yorudan finished his sentence for him. "'I don't understand?' Is that what you were going to say, Yorudan? I don't expect you to understand. But this is why I can't come with you. Vegeta and Goku don't know about the Evil Saiyan because they overcame it a long time ago in a time where they were too young to remember. You, on the other hand, had this hidden from you and you had no idea that it was still inside you, which makes it even more dangerous since you or anyone else doesn't know how to control it."
"But what exactly is this Evil Saiyan? How do you get there? It sounds like this thing is inside of us."
"Exactly! This thing is inside of us. To attain this form, you would have to lose control of your anger. I mean totally lose control of it."
"Form? Wow, so it's a different form of a saiyan then."
"It's no wonder Goku thinks so highly of you. You catch on pretty quickly. So now you understand that if I come with you, there's a chance that this Evil Saiyan can emerge from you, and there's no stopping it either."
"How can it be so strong if I'm not the strongest?"
"Because the Evil Saiyan crosses every line and has no boundaries. Going to immense lengths is what it does. It's worse than a worse nightmare."
"Damn," Yorudan said under his breath. He wasn't sure what the next step should be. Finding his energy wasn't an issue anymore since he managed to find it already, but if it can't come out because of any imminent danger, what was he supposed to do? "Can't I be trained to control it?"
Other Yorudan shrugged his shoulders. "Probably. But that's not a risk that I'm willing to take."
"Wait a second. If you're my energy, doesn't that mean that you belong to me? So that means I can do whatever I want with you."
"Go ahead and try. I can already tell you that that won't be a healthy relationship for me and you."
"So tell me what I need to do then. You're fully aware of what's going on outside of here, yet you still refuse to help me out. What do you suggest I tell Goku?"
"Tell him you aren't who he thinks you are. You have no energy, you have no powers, you aren't a saiyan."
"Why would I need to tell him I'm not a saiyan?"
"Dammit." Other Yorudan sighed at the grave he dug for himself. "Goku and his friends know that you're a saiyan. At least Goku and Vegeta, anyways."
Yorudan was shocked to hear this. "What? How?"
Other Yorudan laughed. "You'll know one day when you learn to sense energy levels, but everyone has unique energy that represents themselves. With how skilled Goku and Vegeta are as fighters, there's no way they weren't able to sense your saiyan energy."
Yorudan stopped walking and Other Yorudan stopped when he noticed he was walking alone. "So, you're telling me that I'm a saiyan, one of the most powerful fighting races this universe has to offer with the greatest fighters on this planet, who also happen to be saiyans, training me and you're going to tell me that you're going to refuse access to my energy because you're afraid of the Evil Saiyan coming out?"
Other Yorudan didn't reply right away like he had before. This time, it seemed like he was thinking about how to respond, rightfully so. It didn't make sense to Yorudan to deny these powers to him. The Evil Saiyan worried him, but he knew he could overcome it with Goku and Vegeta by his side. Besides, Gohan, Pan, Trunks, Goten and Bra were all saiyans, which means the Evil Saiyan could be lingering in them as well. Which means, they were already in danger to begin with.
"I know what you're going to say next. 'What about the other part breeds?' Yes, I know. That's why I'm now deciding that it's best I leave with you."
Yorudan stared blankly at his other self, in disbelief how easy it ended up being to convince him to leave. "Had you thought of that earlier, I could have saved us a lot of time here."
"Yeah, well, you didn't convince me until now, so take it or leave it."
Yorudan smiled, not believing what he was hearing. "Okay, great! So, now what?"
"Just sit back and enjoy the ride. Make sure you buckle in nice and tight." Other Yorudan began walking towards Yorudan. "Oh, and one more thing. Be prepared for a rush like you've never felt before." Other Yorudan dashed so quickly towards Yorudan that he had no idea he even moved. He may have moved quicker than Goku.
Suddenly, the rush that he mentioned hit him. The stars in the universe, the planets in the solar system and the nature on Earth suddenly were reaching out to him. He saw them in a way that he never saw them before. In the middle of the darkness called space, he saw a golden monkey, a giant ape. Yorudan wasn't sure what it was, but he was sure that it would be explained to him later, just like everything else.
The energy, the adrenaline and the rush surged through his veins. He felt butterflies in his stomach like he was excited or anxious for something to happen. Then, he felt a chill in the back of his neck, and all the energy that was contained in him came rushing out. He never opened his eyes, but he knew that he was back at the real Kame House because he could feel Pan and Goku's presence.
Yorudan was screaming at the top of his lungs, the sand around him being pushed away, creating a crater underneath him. A yellow aura was surrounding him and he felt his hair lifting up on its own. His clothes seemed like they had no gravity to them, "floating" in the air. As his energy poured out of him, he felt different with each second that passed. He felt stronger, lighter and faster. There was a new meaning to power for Yorudan, now.
When he couldn't release anymore of his energy, he opened his eyes to find himself enclosed with a yellow aura. He looked down at his hands, which seemed normal but as his eyes travelled up his arm, the muscles were more lean and bigger, too. Yorudan wasn't sure what happened, but he knew that he did exactly what Goku wanted, if the grin on his face was any indication at all.
Goku had his arms crossed, smiling at Yorudan like he was a proud father. "I knew you could do it! HAHA!" said Goku, squatting a little now with his fists clenched in front of him. He couldn't contain his excitement.
Pan stood by with her jaw dropped. "Y-y-y-you're a-a-a-". She couldn't finish her sentence.
"See? You even have Pan speechless!" said Goku. "Come on, let's go spar!"
Yorudan couldn't keep his eyes off himself. His face was expressionless, but inside he had more questions, as usual. "What is this?" Yorudan asked. He looked at Goku and then at Pan, who was still star struck. "Pan? What's wrong?"
With a shaky hand, she reached into her pocket and pulled out a little mirror. More than likely it was for her makeup. It's something that was typical for a high school student, of course. She held it up to Yorudan's face, her hand still shaking. He grabbed her hand to hold the mirror still. When he looked at his face, his eyebrows were now a golden colour and his eyes were a light green. He panned the mirror up and that's when he saw the yellow hair.
"I'm a super saiyan!"
