I strolled out of the plane, and watched everyone scan a lanyard. Damn, they looked cool and I wanted one. May seemed to read my mind because she smirked and told me "Once you've completed a lie detector test, you'll get a lanyard." I grinned, and we walked out of the hangar.
We walked into an agent: short, black hair, no clue in hell who he is. The usual "Welcome back sir." He said to Coulson, and my former boss replied "Good to be back Koenig." Ah, I wonder which one- I think there were at least 3 Koenigs in SHIELD.
He then turned to me "Ah, I see you've recruited the fo-" "Don't," I interrupted him "Call me that. Clear?" I had turned on my May level death stare, and he seemed to get the message "Yes, very clear- Agent L/N."
I heard Skye whisper to May "What was he gonna call her?" I whispered back "None ya business."
"In her first- and only- 6 months of being a field agent, L/N here gained a reputation as one of the best fighters, especially considering her age. She was also the only trainee who put up with May as an SO for over a week. May didn't refuse her company either." Koenig explained as we walked.
Coulson decided to chime in "With May being known as the Cavalry," May glared at him, you go girl. "They decided that since Y/N was like a kid to May,"
"That's a stupid rumour." I muttered, and (luckily?) no-one heard
"They decided to call her The Foal." Coulson said the nickname with extra dramatic flair.
Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love dramatic flair. I learned a lot from Fury, who's like my pirate grandpa. But right now, it was the wrong time. We had arrived at a windowless, label-less door. "Okay, lie detector time. Don't have fun without me." I opened the door and walked in. They really should leave it locked "Oh. My. God" I stared in awe at the chair before me "What? What's the matter?" Skye hurried in after me. Koenig had taken a seat opposite the chair.
"The matter?" I laughed "You know what this is, right?" Skye looked confused "Yeah? It's a… lie detector?" "No, dear Skye," I rolled my eyes at her naivety "This is the lie detector. It was designed by Fury himself, and only two were made. On top of that, Natasha Romanoff – the black widow herself- couldn't even beat it. This is the chair of legend."
I turned to Koenig "Do I get to sit in it?" I asked excitedly. Skye huffed and left the room, swinging the door shut behind her "Yeah, go ahead." He chuckled, and I jumped at the chance.
I'm gonna try and beat it. Let's see how it goes.
"Okay, I'm starting the recording and the systems." Koenig told me as he pushed a button "Cool."
Questioning of Y/N L/N (aka Agent Youngster)- by Agent Billy Koenig:
Koenig: Okay. This will be quick. Let's start with some simple questions. Please state your full name.
Y/N: Y/N M/N L/N = Truth
Koenig: What is your Favourite Colour?
Y/N: Y/LF/C (your least fav colour) = Truth Y/LF/C is boring, how on earth did that not flare up as a lie.
Koenig: Any living family members?
Y/N: Nope = Truth I don't think May and Coulson count?
Koenig: What's the difference between an egg and a rock?
Y/N: A rock is a weapon; an egg is food. Or future babies, it depends. = Truth
Koenig: Why do you dislike the nickname of The Foal?
Y/N: I'm not a baby horse *Laughs* So, pretty inaccurate. = Truth
Koenig: Okay, moving on to the more important questions now. Why are you here?
Y/N: May and Coulson recruited me. I thought it'd be fun to be an agent again. = Truth.
Koenig: What are your relations with the team?
Y/N: Well- I've never met Trip, Skye, Bobbi or Mack before today. I've only heard of Fitzsimmons- they are SHIELD legends. And May and Coulson were my SO's = Truth.
Koenig: Okay then, I guess we are done here. *Switches off lie detector and stops recording*
I had done it! I had beat the lie detector! Only once- and for a silly question- but what a flex.
I got out of the chair and walked over to the door. I swung it open to reveal Fitz, Skye and May waiting for me.
"Done?" Fitz asked "Nope, Koenig figured out that I'm a double agent for the CIA, but I shot him before he could tell someone." I laughed
"She was being sarcastic." May clarified, and Fitz relaxed. "Also, isn't that hard to beat." I said as Koenig closed the door behind him "What?" he asked, confused "Yeah. Y/LF/C isn't my favourite colour. In fact, I think it sucks. Y/F/C is my favourite colour, fyi."
Koenig looked really, really confused- so May intervened "Coulson wants to see you after your med-check. We'll go to his office after the lab."
