AN: This is very self-indulgent and kind of random, because I needed more Vampire AU's for Arc-V. And don't expect much plot. This will mostly be just random oneshots and drabbles set in the Vampire!Yuya AU.

1. the basics of being a vampire

When Yuya was small, his mother sat him down to explain how being a half-vampire would affect him once he hit fourteen years of age.

Not all vampires undergo a permanent change at fourteen; some change at sixteen or eleven, or even twenty. The age limit was even laxer for dhampyrs like Yuya, given their half-human biology. However, his mother had changed at fourteen, her mother and father changed at fourteen and so had nearly everyone in their ancestral line. That was hardly about to change with Yuya.

But anyway.

She had explained how his venom would begin to kick in, how his blood lust would grow, how he would begin to regenerate much, much faster than he already did. There were a lot of things Yuya would have to learn by himself too, either because it was something all vampires had to go through on their own, or because of his being the first half-human, half-vampire in centuries. After all, most, if not all, bloodline vampires kept to themselves, and the Turned could not conceive.

There was also his unique situation of being both heir to a bloodline and partially human, which played merry hell on his, well, everything.

All in all, being a Dhampyr was complicated and difficult and risky.

The first and foremost difficulty being, of course, blood. More specifically, obtaining it. There were blood packets, animal blood and alternatives, of course, but nothing quenched the thirst better than fresh, human blood, directly from its source. As a dhampyr, he didn't need blood as much as he needed both blood and human food, which of course came with its own set of problems. The second difficulty was sunlight and how to avoid it. While only being half vampire gave him a lot of leeway when it came to sunlight, it sadly didn't erase the natural aversion to it inlaid in his blood.

And then... there was it.

The Darkness.

The deep, writhing, aching thing.

Yuya's very own soul.

He could feel this thing, lying dormant, yet a part of his very self. Most dismissed it as part of his vampiric nature...

But Yuya knew better.
