March 1

Inuyasha is supposed to be home sometime tonight and I'm so glad. I miss everything about him; the way he cares for me so much and is always trying to make sure I'm okay, the way he hugs Moroha and makes her giggle, how he'll be on the floor playing with Nico when I randomly walk into a room, and of course his warm arms around me and his soft lips kissing me in that way that only he can.

Moroha was very fussy this morning. I think she misses Inuyasha a lot too. I spent such a long time trying to calm her down. By the time she stopped crying, I collapsed on the couch and sighed while she gave me an innocent look.

"Moroha, you've worn mommy out. I want to take a nap now."

I didn't end up taking a nap though. I played with her and read her a story in between doing my other chores around the house. I didn't actually have my nap until she went to sleep in the early afternoon.

But once we were awake and well-rested I took her down by the river to enjoy the nice spring weather for a little while. It seemed like a lot of people had the same idea. A group of kids were playing nearby. Some people were fishing, some were washing clothes, and others were just passing by. I sat a few feet from the water in the grass with Moroha in my lap looking at the clouds with her.

"If you look closely, Moroha, you can see shapes in the clouds," I said to her. She looked up at the sky while I pointed out the different clouds. "That one looks like a butterfly...that one looks like a cherry...and that one kind of looks like Nico!"

Then something passed by that definitely wasn't a cloud.

"Oh, that's Sesshomaru!" I picked up Moroha's hand and made her wave. "Say hi to Uncle Sesshomaru."

Sesshomaru glanced over at us and changed course to come towards us. "Hello Kagome, Moroha," he said when he landed next to us.

"What are you doing around here?" I asked.

"I've come to check on Rin."

"That's good, I know she'll be happy. She's always talking about how much she enjoys spending time with you."

"Really?" A slight smile touched his face but he quickly wiped it off. It was obvious that he was satisfied by that though. He sat down next to me and tickled under Moroha's chin making her giggle. "She's got a cute laugh."

"She sure does. I'd much rather have her laughing than the way she was crying all morning."

"I see. It must be kind of tough to take care of a newborn."

"Sometimes it is, but that's okay."

"She's happy so you must be doing a good job."

It made me feel very good to hear that. If my baby was so outwardly happy, then I must be doing something right. "Thank you."

"Where is my brother? I hardly ever see you without him."

"He's been out of the village for a few days," I explained. "He and Miroku went off to exterminate some demons."

"When does he get back?"

"Sometime tonight hopefully. I miss him a lot."

"He's providing for you so that's good. I'm sure he misses you just as much. Whenever I see him he's always talking about you and Moroha."

"He is?"

"If I have to hear another word about how beautiful you are I swear," he said with a chuckle.

It made me laugh as well. I'd had no idea that Inuyasha talked about me so much when I wasn't around but it made me happy.

"It's very obvious how much he cares about you. It always has been. That first time I ever saw you with him, with the way he acted around you I genuinely thought you were already a couple."

That made me giggle a bit. "We did kind of like each other, we were just too stubborn to admit it."

"It was very obvious that you liked each other even back then. Anyone could have predicted that you would get married and have a child."

"Lord Sesshomaru!" Rin called from a few yards away.

Sesshomaru's face immediately lit up as Rin started to run over to us. She then sat next to him and held his hand.

"I didn't know you were coming here today," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"I wanted to surprise you, Rin."

"You're the best!" she said, giving him a hug. She looked at me. "Lord Sesshomaru is so sweet, isn't he Kagome? He's so kind and wonderful."

Sesshomaru was obviously embarrassed by Rin revealing just how nice of a person he was but I thought it was cute.

"Of course he is," I said. "Sesshomaru is one of the nicest people I know." He seemed to be even more displeased by that.

"Do you like my hair clip, Kagome?" Rin said, pointing to the jeweled butterfly clip in her hair.

"Wow, that's really pretty! Where did you get it?"

"Lord Sesshomaru got it for me last week."

"It brings out your eyes," he said.

"You've got good taste in accessories," I said elbowing him.

"Did Inuyasha get you that?" Rin said pointing to the silver bracelet around my wrist.

"He did. It was over a year ago, but I try to wear it as often as I can."

"That's so sweet. I guess it's a family trait to have good taste in accessories."

Moroha started crying and I began to hold her close and rock her in my arms. "What's the matter, my little angel?" I kissed her forehead. "Shh, don't cry." Her crying began to subside but she was still a little restless.

"You're a good mom, Kagome," Rin said.

"Thanks. She's a sweet baby so that makes it easy," I said as I rubbed Moroha's back. "I think she wants to go home and rest. I'll see you two later."

"Bye, Kagome," Rin said. She and Sesshomaru waved as I stood up and headed home with Moroha.

Not long after we got home, Moroha went to sleep again. I spent my evening reading and knitting and now I'm writing with Nico sitting on my lap. All I have left to do is wait patiently for my husband to come home.
