Yes, the title is SOOO creative. I just needed to indicate as much as I could that this is a one-shot sequel to my original series. It was a debate for me whether I made a series or this one-shot for this special story, but it came down to this!
If you haven't read the original In This Broad Universe, there may be some confusion so I'd recommend it. And spoilers of the first obvi. So if you don't go and read the original series, well you're just a little rebel aren't you?

"Timothy Tiberius Turner."
In the fairway mythical lands of leprechauns, a blue-eyed being stood in introducing himself. The two leprechauns of which he spoke to stood before a stone towered entrance in a plane grass, end-of-the-rainbow field. They could only scorn at the man near the entrance of the base, not quite content on letting him in yet. Decked in his usual 'out and about on mission' outfit, consisting of a dark fuschia pink leathered jacket with a star-crest patch embedded on his left sleeve. Underneath he sported a simple black t-shirt while his bottoms were black skinny jeans held by a studded belt and a pocket chain. As well as matching black combat boots laced tightly. Above his head rested a polished crown as any other fairy, same as the wings on his back.
"You don't look like no regular fairy, 'dere. Don't ya?" One leprauchaun said.
"I'm only half," Tim explained, use to the usual reactions of that outside of Fairy World. "I'm here to meet Mr. O'Malley Hornswoggle. We scheduled a time to talk about our interference of magic with his down on earth?"
"I mean we need some ID," the other said, crossing their arms. "But, uh. I 'stell don't get it."
"Get what?"
"How yer a half-breed, laddie. What's the other half, eh?"
Tim resisted rolling his eyes. Though he was used to questions, these two were quite obviously more distracted by it. After all, he did have a clear split of features regarding both the human and fairy race.
For one thing, he had the same size as any given fairy really. And wings on his back. Although as a young boy he did not inherit them yet due to his human genetics clashing but had begun to sprout wings within the following years he had moved to Fairy World with his godparents. And although it was not a feature to suspect, his wide smile was hard not to notice when he first greeted himself. Wide teeth from the remnants of what used to be an overbite when he was young.
His hair spoke a little different, although it wasn't too much to suspect from it. Still, the chestnut brown locks trimmed in a medium shag wasn't bright enough for a fairy to inherit. Even if a fairy could have mutual hair-coloring, it would be much more of a glistening tone. Mutual hair colors for a fairy would be blacks or blondes, never often a brown. And then there were the other ranges of rainbow-like colors. Despite the hair, all fairies had a specific hue of color in their eyes, sometimes a match to their hair and sometimes not by the assortment of genetics.
His eyes were a giveaway.
Even if a wonderful blue, they did not have the same attributes as a regular fairy's. His were mortal eyes. Lacking largeness in the pupils as the ones of the fairies. His were crowded with age, something of which a fairy did not have in their gaze and could only show by how they wanted to perceive themselves physically through magic as they age into their millennials. The growth in which Tim experienced was carried in his eyes, while everything else about him was immortal. His eyes were the only thing that held something earthly as humans have, while a general fairy's eyes were the stars that painted over the humble planet. Everything else about him may have been a fairy, but his soft gaze indicated that he was indeed only half. A part of him was still human, and the eyes celebrated that.
"My biological parents were both human," Tim said. "I got inflicted with magic before my mom had me, so I never was born a full human. No one really knew until I was like ten and my magic started to show."
"Oi, you were that kiddie who was brought by 'da Fairy Council," one finally noted.
"Yeah. And ya lived with yer godparents from there on in."
Finally. Tim thought he would've lost his patience had they kept asking questions. He didn't care whether they knew who he was or not, he just needed to get in to do his job as he'd like.
Explaining his past did remind him of all that today was. A very special day. Although it was not about him, every milestone in his or his godparent's or godbrother's life seemed to make him reflect the deepest compared to any other situation.
His mother, his earth mother Mrs. Turner, had passed only years before. Though a parent's death may have been anticipated for any human, it quite obviously came differently for a half-mortal. Especially regarding the tragedy that was his father's death during the discovery of Timmy's true nature back when he was ten. Timothy's days would never be numbered as an immortal, and moving on before the long-run of his human parents' passing had been difficult. He'd always tried to remind himself that eventually, his days spent in Dimmsdale as a kid would become a novelty. Never forgotten, but soon history. But it wouldn't change him in the slightest. For the little helpless boy who had been granted godparents long ago would always be an inherent part of him. And he'd always be a Turner.
That went further to show. For even if he'd dialed down from never thinking twice for situations, as he habitually did as a child, he'd definitely carried his rascal nature into the man he was today. Making sly comments when he had the chance, expressing fortified humor like his godfather, all while still being witty and the first to notice anything wrong and right for anything. A good eye. A quick intellect. A chill but passionate guy.
Pulling out a form of indication from his fuschia-pink leathered jacket, he held a special badge forward before slipping it back into his pocket. Both the leprechauns let him go and Timothy floated his way in with a thankful nod. The unnecessary discussion with these two had already wasted enough time already and he needed to leave soon.
It was Cosmo and Wanda's ten-thousandth anniversary after all.
That same morning in Fairy World, a fairy with a yellow pixie cut and tangerine eyes entered the glass-paneled door of a busied coffee shop. Decked in a yellow cardigan over her white button blouse, a purple ring scarf hung around her neck, and moon crescent earrings hanging from her lobes. Floating in as well with her bell jeans and brown suede ankle boots.
The shop was not unfamiliar to her. She'd been coming here since her days spent studying at the Fairy Academy not a few decades ago with her friends. The opposing side walls of the broad room mantled in their usual brick, while the back wall of an upright, light wood panel at the way end was where the workers' back exit and opposing washrooms stood by. The barista bar stood to the far left against the brick, where more than a line was formed already for the busied red-aproned workers. A chalkboard lined the entirety of a wall including the daily specials and regular orders. Wood-paneled tables decorated the shop with their plastic multi-colored chairs. The far-right corner concluded a carpeted area with red and colored bean bags that were almost always occupied if you didn't get there with your group early enough.
As she stood before the glass door, moving to her left to allow some newcomers to enter behind her, she looked along the entirety of the glass window that occupied the front of the shop. At a corner table with two chairs, a familiar fairy sat while busied with his laptop in front of him.
She approached her friend. The trademarked purple of his eyes not being unnoticeable. Neither the lavender high-fade haircut of shag curls underneath a purple beanie that hung loosely on the back of his head underneath his hovered crown. The shag of lavender curlies still hung in the front while the buzzed lowered part of his head enlightened the small black studs on his lobes. He wore an unbuttoned purple flannel over his white t-shirt. Skinny dark blue jeans rolled at the ankles that showed of his purple socks and low-ankled laced brown loafers. A writer's bag hung from the back of his chair, and his purple eyes looked up from underneath his dark bushy eyebrows in smiling at the fairy who approached as he opened his mouth at her arrival.
"A tall black coffee with cream for me, and, let me hope I got this right," he anticipated her sitting down across from him as he hoped to have gotten the right order. "Tall black coffee with cream, sugar, and extra hot for you. Right?"
"Poof Fairywinkle-Cosma, you are an anti-socialite."
He was bewildered, as she didn't acknowledge his hard work gone into her coffee order. "How's that?"
"Rocky and I were waiting on you," She said.
He chuckled. "Then shoot me a text, I would've shown!"
"I think it's on you to show up to the office."
"I think the question is why you were at the office this early, Sunny."
A barista came and gave them both their orders. "Thank you," Sunny spoke to her, then looking back at Poof. "I know you spent the whole night perfecting everything. But you don't need to. The pitch is amazing, Poof. Just give it time."
The lavender fairy hesitantly looked down at his open laptop. His job for the past minimal years at a real publishing company had been amazing, and being a copy editor didn't come by so easily to someone. But, he and Sunny both knew Poof could only handle it for so long. He didn't want to be proof-reading others' work, he wanted to be the one whose work was proof-read. His own tale pitched to the board, and then the rest of the world. He'd worked his tail feathers off just writing and writing for as long as he could rememeber, and he'd finally perfected a story he thinks would be worth all of it.
That was the point in moving to this town. It was close enough to his childhood home, but at the same time further away and the perfect place to start a new path in actually becoming a published writer. Looking at the list of accomplishments; Close friends, check. A stable career, check. A killer apartment, well, he wasn't the host of gameboard drinking night for nothing. But having his work out there for real...?
Maybe he needed to stop making lists...he was starting to feel like his mother.
"Things come as they do, Poof." Sunny reminded.
"Can we talk about something else?" He closed his laptop.
Sunny smiled with a nod, taking a sip from her cup.
Needless to say, it was no wonder she was friends with Poof. The artsy-fartsy quirks he had definitely gone to show his overall deep-strung personality. A little bit of a worry-pants on occasion, but once given assurance, he'd dial down pretty easily. He wore his heart on his sleeve. Undeniably smart and loved to analyze things. All while always being humorous. He definitely had his own side of funny that appealed to those who shared that kind of humor with him.
"I'm heading home for the week," Poof said. "My parents' ten-thousandth anniversary."
"Wow, that's a lot to celebrate." His co-worker said. "Big week-long blowout, huh? Gonna be festive?"
"Yeah, like, Mardi Gras festive." Poof chuckled at his own reference.
Though his co-worker smiled, she stood a little clueless. "Heh, what?"
The lilac fairy dismissed it. Fairies of these days didn't understand a lot of human references. Poof was probably one to be more familiar with anything human-related anyway. For one, his older brother was half-human and well versed in human life for a lot of his childhood. Poof himself had been, too. Granted, he was an infant at the time and those days could not be entirely remembered from his perspective. Only from the words of Timmy, Cosmo, and Wanda. But hey, Poof liked to argue that he was still there. It still counted.
"Glad to know Mr. Poppy was chill in letting me take this week."
Sunny almost didn't know how to tell him. "Oh you know, he's preferable with those who have a lot coming up."
Poof looked out the large window they sat by, puffing a laugh. "He's generous because of my parents' anniversary?"
The yellow-haired sipped her coffee but did not take her eyes away from Poof's glance out the window. Her nails drummed gently against the cup as Poof's eyes stared further and further away in thinking and expecting her to say something else. She waited until he noticed her patient smile and looked back at her with mild bewilderment.
"They wanna publish your book, Poof."
A switch of energy ignited in Poof's widened eyes.
His co-worker smiled before looking at her watch, and then taking hold of her coffee and rising from her seat. "Give your parents my congrats."
In the messed bed of his home, Cosmo Cosma sat up with a large stretch of his arms in his forest-green pyjama pants and grey t-shirt. Looking to his left at the open white drapes of the window as the sun beamed in against the white flatweave rug and light therapeutic grey walls of his and his wife's bedroom gently. The sky outside a perfect brightness, the perfect crispness of the breeze that crawled through the edge opening of the window, and the perfect sound of birds that tweeted him a good morning.
What a perfect day for ten thousand years of happiness.
He'd been slightly surprised to find his wife not next to him and paid no time in shifting out his side of the bed and making a grab of this matching green bathrobe as he slipped it on one arm at a time. Making way to the room's entryway as he yawned through a fist. Seeking his wife as he made it through the second-floor hall and down the staircase, he pondered over what today brought for them.
Both their boys were grown and out of the house now. And even if the married couple had given the time to themselves to still be romantic to the most possible extent while Poof and Timmy were still living at home, the dynamics of an empty house were surely different in the past few decades or so. They hadn't been alone since before Timmy, who was now nearing his 115th and Poof his 105th.
The whole change with Timmy years ago when he was still a boy, and thought to only be human, took a different toll. Considering from there on in he lived with his godparents permanently as a child, Cosmo and Wanda no longer served their duties as work-serving godparents. In the following years of Timmy moving to Fairy World, Wanda had taken upon the career as a professor at the academy. And Cosmo, in time, also worked at the academy but in a different department. He conducted, but mostly tested on himself, different experiments concerning new ways of magical spells and charms. Cosmo had never been one to argue about being the guinea pig for quite bizarre experiments anyway. And his honest-given nature really helped the research process.
It was different than what they'd done the majority of their life as godparents. Where they were together constantly instead of working two separate jobs. But like they did with every passing godchild, they grew used to it. A new adventure was not unfamiliar to them with every kid they'd watch grow up. And then they got Timmy whom they'd fallen in love with as their own completely, which only set them off into a much newer adventure they couldn't be thankful enough for. Let alone having Poof, too. Not only was he their child as much as Timmy but their baby who was not so much a baby anymore.
Seeing as Wanda had not been in the kitchen nor living room, Cosmo ventured into the dining room at the back of the house where he least thought she'd be. In fact, she wasn't there at all. No, not but their dining table with a platter of assorted fruits and croissants in the middle, and a fresh pot of coffee.
Cosmo grinned to himself, floating over as he popped a raspberry in his mouth and retrieved the lone mug left for him as he poured himself a coffee. He knew where he'd find his wife as he looked up to the glass patio door that led to their back porch of the garden. The purple grass and pink cloud horizon looking onto the quiet backyards of their suburban neighborhood, as Cosmo made his way to the door with his mug in hand.
Slipping through, his heart melted in laying his eyes upon the woman of whom he was glad to say, by today's mark, had been officially his for ten thousand years. More if they counted the time of their love before marriage. Seated in a whiter wicker chair of their outside paneled back porch, Wanda looked onto the morning sun with her yellow robe hung over her shoulders, opened at the flaps where underneath she wore an old college t-shirt belonging to Cosmo and night shorts with her slippers on each foot. Her hair was let down as per usual early morning in their curls draped behind her back. One leg crossed over the other as she rested her own coffee mug upon her knee while her thumb absentmindedly caressed the handle by which she held it, the morning daylight glowing against her face as the peak of her eyelashes seemed to catch the most sun in little golden arcs.
Cosmo knocked on the glass of the door which he stood by, redirecting her attention to him as he approached and she smiled heavenly in seeing her husband upon a day they couldn't believe they've reached. To say time flies was one way to put it.
Her husband came to kneel by her seat as he placed his mug down on the wood of the porch momentarily. Resting one arm on her chair as his other hand ran along her hair in looking at her devotedly. His face neared closer with his lidded eyes connecting deeply with hers as he slipped a hand to the softness of her cheek and tilted his head in to press his lips to hers in a kiss. A kiss that definitely said it all. Today was not just a celebration, today was romance at it's finest.
They parted softly though Cosmo kept her close by the palm of his hand.
"Happy anniversary to you, too.." Wanda cooed.
"Did you make all that breakfast?"
"Least I could do," Wanda said, lacing her fingers with his. "With all that Cupid has taken control of for today, I think I should at least still govern what happens in this house to celebrate."
Cosmo again grinned. It would be an under-exaggeration to say that they pulled out all the stops today. This morning alone felt like it was their wedding day all over again, except for seeing each other before the actual event this time. It was a day celebrating a couple anyhow. Being married for ten thousand years needed to be awarded some kind of bash by the couple's preference. Especially when informing Cupid, who loved to take charge of a romantic celebration. Or any celebration, really.
Tonight was the main event. Down at the reserved hotel resort would the big party be held. Drinks, music, fancy-schmancy attire as requested. The rest of the week reserved at the hotel would be for a smaller group of close friends who were invited on the vacation. It may have seemed like a lot at first, but for ten millenniums celebrated, come on now. Not only, but Cosmo and Wanda had earned some communal praise over the past decades or so as being 'the' couple who had aided in many savings revolving around the work of their one and only Timmy Turner. The endless tails of the wonderboy and his godparents that came to be his forever was certainly worth something for such a special day celebrating the marriage that it sat on.
"Did I mention I love when you wear that t-shirt?" Cosmo spoke cheesily in looping an arm around his wife, encouraging her to lift from the chair.
"Did I mention you're a goof?"
"Only on my good days, lollipop!" He cheered. On time, his stomach growled. "I'm starving."
"Well, let's get crackin'."
"Crackin'? Is that an egg joke? Did you make eggs, too?"
She shook her head. "No, I mean-"
"You really are pulling out stops today!" He said anyway. Wanda dismissed, accepting his arm around her as they floated inside once more to get a start on their special day.
Needlewood Heights Resort. An all-package get-away and one of the best-known resort and hotel chains around the entirety of Fairy World. Known for the high suites and open pool decks consisting of landscapes of clean wooden lines tracing grey-toned concrete surrounding the neon fountained pools as purple palm trees occupy the empty spaces of fresh purple grass. White tent cabanas and deck chairs of a soft white cushion on dark wicker. Hotels consisting of reserved ballrooms, lounge rooms, game rooms, buffets. Reserved courtyards on the outside consisting of the same cabanas and pool chairs, and table seating of freshly polished wood. One particualr courtyard was embedded in the square of a surrounding hotel. The tables dotted all over the pavement on the end of the grand stone stairs that led back up to the hotel. Surrounded by the fresh palm trees as per usual, and neon lights engraved in the fountains outlining the pavement.
As workers arranged the tables with white table cloths and centerpiece flowers, a pink-haired being with periwinkle eyes and feathered wings, decked in pink rolled knee shorts and a white ironed pressed cabana shirt as well round silver shades, overlooked the process with a clipboard in hand. He nodded satisfactorily as he made his way back inside.
Within the fresh red-carpeted and beige marble lobby, Timmy Turner hovered through the main entrance by a doorman's holding of the door for him. He nodded in thank you, though his eyes could not help but be captured by the overhead crystal chandelier that roofed over almost the entire room. One set of a velvet red-carpeted grand staircase stood by the right of the door. The same carpeting lined down the narrow lobby past the main desk encaved in the wall behind the beige marble. Another grand staircase on the opposing end and red lounge seating occupied the general area. With his navy blue duffle bag slung over his shoulder, containing his necessities for the week's vacation, Timmy blew a breath passed his lips in astonishment. Was this Cosmo and Wanda's doing, or Cupids? Or Wanda's? Or Cupid AND Wanda's? He doubted Cosmo.
From around a corridor tucked away beyond the opposing staircase, one that led to the exit to the courtyard, the periwinkle-eyed being came floating back around. Looking up from his clipboard, the god removed his shades and pushed them up to his gelled hair with a gasp of joy.
"Wonderboy!" He exclaimed. "A sight for sore eyes you are!"
Timmy smiled, holding his duffle by one clasped hand over his shoulder. "Hey, Cupid."
"You're right on time. Your godparents got here an hour ago. Last they told me they were getting settled, but sheesh! How long does it take? There's stuff to be done!"
"Hate to break it to you, but they may be huddled up in their room avoiding just that."
"Or celebrating in their own way." The loved god teased.
Timmy shook his head with a disgusted lip. Why did he have to put that image into his mind?
"Gross."
"Glad to say everything is right on schedule." Cupid showed his written arrangements proudly. "Gonna be the biggest bash of the century!"
"I should hope so."
"And," Cupid remembered. "I hope you and Poof got your toast in order."
"We've been setting it up back and forth," Timmy said, afraid to see what would happen if he admitted that they hadn't completed it. "We've both written what we wanna say, we just gotta split up our turns."
"You did rehearse it, right?"
Timmy plucked a brow. "For a toast?"
"Well, you gotta! For all we know you use too many jokes, and Poof uses too little! Or you're both too serious! You need to address all of it with him!"
As another entered by the lobby's entrance, Timmy turned towards them. "Well, the timing is perfect then."
With his lavender duffle and brown writer's bag slung over his shoulder, Poof hovered along the carpet, also taken by the extravagance. His parents really weren't hesitant to pull out all the stops for ten thousand years, huh?
"The boy in the beanie." He heard a familiar tease call. He smirked, looking across the way at the shag of brown hair that approached.
"The leather hero." He returned the joke.
"Two minds," Timmy continued.
"One idiot." Poof finished.
They laughed as they busted out a brotherly hug, Timmy tapping one hand behind Poof's back.
As with any brothers, they were different in many of the perceived ways. One being style particularly. Timmy had grown to embrace a bit of a biker look in his missions, rarely wearing any other color of pants but black and almost always being accompanied with his usual leathers and combats, most notably his dark fushcia pink leather jacket that had become a definite trademark. Poof had definitely fallen into his unique value, as Timmy would tease him and his 'hipster central' ideals. Never not seen with at least some kind of accompaniment of his writer's bag or loafers or beanie.
But there was no denying they were two peas in a pod. Sharing the same eye-to-eye humor, passionate in ways they could express freely around one another. Growing up with an age difference of ten years, Timmy had definitely taught Poof the ins and outs of being a little rascal in his own right. Poof had always looked up to Timmy while growing up and never bothered to hide it. Timmy, in ways, had taken awe from his younger brother in a way which he never wanted to admit out of being the oldest. Especially now that Poof was older and he found his own path. They both undeniably loved their parents, and they both undeniably loved each other.
Cupid approached the two chuckling brothers.
"Sooooo, speech rehearsal?" He encouraged. "C'mon, we only have a few hours."
Poof gave an odd look to his brother. "I thought we already arranged that?"
"So you were just gonna sling together nonsense!" The god accused.
"Cupe, why don't you worry about the arrangements, and Poof and I will worry about what we say to Cosmo and Wanda. It's not like they're expecting us to pull out a Shakespeare sonnet." Timmy assured.
"We could recite jingles and dad would be touched." Poof added.
"Alright, alright." Cupid berated, dusting off his clean ironed shirt.
The lavender fairy threw him a nod. "You're really decked out for the pool theme."
"Only for now, my tux is being steamed as we speak."
"Oh, speaking," Timmy remembered. "I need to go pick mine up."
"Dry cleaning for your suits, already paid and received," Cupid assured. He then pulled out two keycards. "And your rooms are already checked in."
Poof blinked. "Wow, thanks."
"Sweet." Timmy agreed.
"I got an extra key for you, Timmy. Assuming Ro will be in the same room as you."
The half-fairy smiled in taking the key, right before Cupid went off to continue arrangements.
"Sooo," Poof teased his brother. "Anything new with you and Ro?"
"Why don't you ask her?" Timmy said, shooting a look to the entrance.
The brothers looked along the way to another entering with her suitcase in hand. Upon a pale, pointed face, the creature beheld long silk silver hair that flattened on the top of her head and tucked behind her pointed elf-ears as it draped down in a long straight length down her back. The pointed ears of which she beheld were embedded with a few arrangements of studded piercings, and long silver dangles at the end of her lobes. Black skinny jeans with cuts in the knees and black ankle boots, as well as a grey cashmere shoulderless sweater. Eyes a silver-blue, and a sight to see for Timmy.
Ro, otherwise but never called by her elf birth name Rosaniya. Not only the apple of Timmy's eye and love, but a half-breed herself. Part elf, part pixie. She'd been raised in the Elf Lands by her elf mother and had met Timmy through half-breed activism meetings in Timmy's trips to Elf Lands on occasion. After knowing each other beyond meetings and connecting on a deeper level, both were head over heels in love. She did not inherit the wings pixies have, unlike how Timmy had from fairies. Different from how a fairy is born with them, Timmy had begun to grow them during his teenage years after leaving earth as he developed. Ro however, got around the way elves did on two legs and not like pixies.
She approached the two familiar faces with a smile. "Hey."
Timmy floated to her level with an amorous grin. "Hey.."
Ro held his cheek as they indulged in a kiss.
Poof looked away with a small breath. "Alright, you guys have room cards for a reason."
They pulled away as Ro smiled.
"How was the leprechaun meeting, Timz?" She asked, addressing him by the nickname she'd had for him since day one.
"Ah, pretty good." Timmy shrugged. "Y'know them, they're with the whole 'we'll stay out of your way if you stay out of ours', but they're not bitter."
"That's good, at least." She spoke, before pinching his shoulder. "As long as you kept your donkey nonsense to a minimum."
"Hey, my donkey mouth has worked ways in the past." He defended although he chuckled.
"Oh trust me, my mouth has said plenty when I go off. Thank god I'm never low on breath mints." Ro said.
Timmy laughed in staring at her admirably.
Ro was both witty and compatible with Timmy when it came to her dry humor and quick thinking. She was the one who often beat him to a punchline if he hadn't already beaten someone else to it. One of the things he'd first noticed about her was her chill factor yet the undertone she had in wanting to set things right. Although sweet in her deep nature, still an instigator in poking anyone with her sass. She jokingly insulted Timmy profusely when first friends him, which he absolutely loved. They related on a deeper level of understanding not only the differences in being half-bloods, but being half-bloods of the least expected combinations. Together for a good few years now, she was well versed in the family. Ro was never afraid to speak her mind for anything. Something which Timmy never hoped would change about her.
"How're you doing, Poof?" Ro asked.
"Can't complain." Poof said. The mere back of his mind thought of the news he had just found out not a few hours ago.
"Got your fanciest get-out to wear tonight?" She asked.
"As fancy as mom requested." Poof hinted with a wink.
"Can't say I didn't tear apart my closet." Ro admitted. "There were some things I didn't know I had still."
"Hope that'll change if you move to Fairy World full-time." Timmy teased. They'd always spent time back and forth staying with each other, but inevitably, Ro enjoyed being in Fairy World with him.
She puffed a breath in mockery. "You're one to talk Mr. 'Unnecessary Wishes'."
He handed her one of their room cards. "Poof and I are just sorting out our toast if you wanna go get settled."
"Yeah, sure." Ro kissed her boyfriend on the cheek before walking past him, then shooting him a look of warning. "But don't throw in that story of how Cosmo and I tripped into the slushie pit back at the amusement park, or you're dead nerd-bird."
"On my life."
She smirked before walking away. Timmy watching his girlfriend go with a gentle adore in his gaze as he breathed steadily in thinking about the extension of what he'd been hiding. More so, who to tell first. No wonder looking at Ro lately made him nervous, he wouldn't be able to keep it in for much longer. He had to tell someone before he did it without consulting anyone. Timmy was sure there would not be a time ever again he'd meet someone so amazing as Ro. That's why it was reserved for only her; The ring box tucked atop his duffle bag in a roll of socks.
Turning towards Poof he breathed heavily. "Oh, boy."
His younger godbrother cocked his head to the side, a very similar habit of his father's. "What?"
"I need to get to Cosmo and Wanda. I don't know how occupied Cupid is gonna keep them."
Poof smiled. "I feel you there, actually. I kinda.."
"It's just..." Timmy spoke at the same time.
"I have news for them." They said simultaneously.
The brothers frowned.
"No, I have news for them!"
They frowned in annoyance at each other, glancing away for a moment until Timmy suggested;
"Same time?"
"Shoot." Poof agreed. They both took a breath of composure.
-"My book's being published."
-"I'm proposing to Ro."
Grins of joy erupted over both their faces.
"Dude, that's awesome!" They exclaimed as they tackled one another in a hug.
They pulled apart. "But, I thought," Timmy was overjoyed at Poof's news. "You sent in so many drafts."
"They picked one up."
"Which?"
"I'll tell you later! When are you asking Ro!?"
Timmy stuttered. "I-I don't know, that's why I wanted to ask Cosmo and Wanda about it."
Poof gave a crucial look. "Why? So they could hold the ring for you?"
His older brother punched his shoulder. "Because, as you should know, they keep me sane when I need it."
"Yeah," Poof couldn't disagree there. "I'm thinking maybe I should hold off my news. Today's about them anyway."
"No, you have to tell them!" Timmy shook him by his shoulders. "Just wait until we're indulged in the party more."
"Fine, but only if you do too."
The half-fairy groaned. "Okay."
Atop the velvet red-carpeted stairway, two familiar pink and green dots floated into view as they discussed amongst themselves. Dressed in their regular attire of a yellow blouse and a shirt and tie, floating about happily as they talked to one another. For a special anniversary, there seemed to be a lot more planning than there was celebrating.
Wanda was first to notice her boys, Cosmo following, as they smiled tenderly at the two heavily discussing brothers. Floating down, Poof nudged his brother when the shag of his father's green hair and the pinup swirl of his mother's pink caught his eye and they ended the discussion quickly so the news didn't come when they wanted.
"Two minds..?" Cosmo started with a sly point.
"Already went over that one, dad." Poof admitted as his mother pulled him into a hug. Cosmo doing the same with Timmy and then switching vice-versa.
"Happy anniversary," Timmy said as he pulled away from Wanda.
"Thank you, sport." Wanda clutched his shoulder. "How're my boys?
Poof and Timmy exchanged a look in mutual understanding, the youngest chuckling half-heartedly.
"Pretty good."
As time passed further prepping, the family took the time to at least grab a quick lunch together. Cosmo, Wanda, Timmy, and Poof, generally, saw each other very often. However, everyone seemed a little on edge today for no reason so the brief time spent together before jumping back into the mayhem was needed.
It made Cosmo wonder if all this planning would be worth it at all. Floating down the empty red-carpeted hallway pass some lounge rooms and empty ballrooms of the hotel, he hovered to his destination. Cupid requested he be there asap, which probably meant to poof over. But the love god had been so antic, Cosmo would rather take his time. His phone rang in his back pocket, and the green fairy took it out. Smirking at Wanda's contact as he answered and lifted it to his ear.
"Hi, baby. What'chu wearing?"
"I'm sorry?" She asked through a laugh she didn't expect.
"Kidding," Cosmo said. "Wouldn't mind knowing later, though."
"Okay, Mr. horned up." She teasingly berated. "I'm checking over the courtyard, what about you?"
"I dunno, really. Some tux fitting Cupid asked for."
"I think he's got his head in this more than you do, lovey."
Cosmo smiled as his eyes gazed at the carpet beneath him. Part of his mind was still on lunch with the boys and how something foreign struck him. Even if in their immortal age now, something just seemed older than usual about them. He was feeling sorta grandpa-ish, but maybe that was just the excitement of today.
"Some of the ladies and I are gonna get nails done, I was just about to call Ro and ask if she wants to join."
Speaking of, the familiar silver hair turned the corner right before Cosmo in her own path.
"Hey, I already found her!" The green fairy pointed to his eldest son's girlfriend. She smiled in return.
"Oh? Can you put her on speaker?"
"Pssssssst." Cosmo motioned to Ro, as if telling her something secret. "Ro."
She chuckled. "Yeah?"
He dotted a finger to his phone. "Wanda wants to speak to you."
"Alrighty, then."
Cosmo pressed the speaker button, holding it out as Ro tucked a silver strand behind her pointed ear. "Wanda?"
"Hi, hun. You wanna come with me and some of the others for nails?"
"Sure, when?"
"Errrr, now?"
Ro again chuckled. "I mean I've been wandering about the hotel, anyway."
"Okay, perfect. We'll meet you in the lobby."
"I can lead her there!" Cosmo volunteered.
"No, that's okay Coz." Ro assured. "I'm pretty sure I know how."
"I dunno, this place is kinda topsy-turvy."
"She'll manage, sweetie." Wanda spoke through the phone.
"Okay, see ya Ro." Cosmo waved off the half-elf as she nodded in return, walking past him. He turned off the speaker in continuing to talk to his wife. "Will I get to see you at all before this? There's so much stuff happening!"
"Trust me honey, it'll be worth it."
"Promise?"
"Promise. Seeing the boys always calms me."
He smiled in thinking of his previous thoughts. "Yeah, me too."
"Love you, I'll call you after."
Cosmo made some air kisses. "Love you."
He hung up as he turned into the right ballroom. One where a lot of Cosmo's old guy friends were trying on their tuxes. Many of which had been Cosmo's groomsmen, even. And the day only further reminded him of his wedding.
Beside a table with stacked chairs, Cupid conversed with another fairy. Juandissimo to be exact.
Ten thousand years ago, having him at an event like this wouldn't be the case. Not at all. But things came by so differently today with the relationship Cosmo and Wanda now had with the purple-eyed fairy. He had actually gone from an ex-boyfriend, unspoken stranger, rival, frenemy, to actual real friend. Over the years had he come to enjoy being in Cosmo and Wanda's company, and not for his old reasons. And they enjoyed his too. Even Cosmo. At this point they didn't feel that they supposed he should be here on this day, but rather they wanted him as they did with any of their other friends.
Juandissimo had been working exclusively with Cupid for the past while, as the two had become close as well. Currently, Cupid seemed to have higher demands for the party's preparation as Juandissimo looked off from his own clipboard in annoyance. Cosmo holding back his giggles as he was already pulled into a conversation by his old friends in the corner.
"Ay, Cosmo." Juandissimo asked, encouraging Cosmo to step away from his group of buddies. "Cupid does not want to settle on anything."
"Hold up, chiseled." Cupid dismissed. "Forgive me for having good taste."
Juandissimo rolled his purple eyes, holding out his clipboard to the green fairy. "You and Wanda asked for ivory cloth, si?"
Cosmo was dumbfounded. "I dunno, Wanda probably did. I just want a party."
"You're asking the wrong half of the couple." Cupid poked at Juandissimo in fun.
"Te odio.." the latter mumbled.
"Can I try on my tux now?" Cosmo asked, bored out of his mind already.
"First I gotta teach you how to fold a pocket square." Cupid said, making way to a table where an assortment laid.
Cosmo's head rocked back on his neck as a slight groan left this lips. "Do I have to?"
"You're gonna wanna look your best when Wanda shows up in whatever fabu she's planning." The love god said, handing him a lone pocket square.
"I already wore one on my wedding day, I should know thanks." Cosmo said, tempted to stick out his tongue and show these two beautifiers what he cares.
"Pero, did you do it yourself?" Juandissimo asked.
Cosmo scoffed a laugh, though he still looked at them squarely. "Noooo..?"
"Did Wanda?"
Cosmo cleared his throat awkwardly. "My best man did.."
The other two chuckled and Cosmo pouted.
"Well, what would you both know about it?"
"Please, Coz. When I'm not wearing pocket squares you'll find me dead. It's a reflex to me." Cupid reminded.
That explained the love god, but Cosmo could not help but look at Juandissimo in question.
The purple-eyed fairy looked away in embarrassment. "He dragged me to a class.."
Hours progressed, and night rolled around quicker than expected.
With some of the other ladies getting ready that late evening, Wanda decided split off and get ready the quietness of her and Cosmo's suite before indulged in the social life of the party. Her husband was off getting ready in a friend's room while she had just exited the shower with the hotel bathrobe on and a towel wrapped around her hair. Coming to sit at the desk, she opened a portable makeup mirror she had packed.
Turning on the light, Wanda popped open a moisturizer bottle from her makeup bag as she squirted some of the material into her hand and began to dab the substance into her face. Doing so, a sudden object she swore hadn't been on the desk before caught her eye. Looking away from the mirror, Wanda stared down at the blue velvet necklace gift box, accompanied by a light blue ribbon tied in a square knot. Underneath the ribbon atop the box, sat a folded paper note.
She carefully took hold of the jewelry box as she undid the ribbon by one end, taking the note from atop and unfolding it. In reading the words, she could not help the feeling of butterflies within her stomach as if she were younger and getting married all over again.
For my lambchop. From your pudding. xox.
A tender smile crossed her lips, gently putting the note down as she opened the velvet case. Her eyes drinking in the contents of a bridal diamond necklace. The jewels like shining treasure in dainty leaf shapes that lined all the way down to the middle pendant that ended in a pear shape. In the middle of the pendant, a dotted pink jewel.
"Oh my goodness.." she awed, fingering the necklace lightly.
It dawned upon her if it would at all be possible to accompany this with her outfit tonight. Something that both she and Cosmo could enjoy. Picking up the case, she hovered over to the closet and opened it in seeing her freshly dry-cleaned outfit. Holding up the necklace for comparison, she smiled. Although, it would be better tested out once she got them both on.
"Cupid, cálmese por favor." Juandissimo spoke in the midst of the lobby near the grand staircase. The sounds of the bass boom of the party's music and the multiple guests could be heard from outside as the two sorted out any last-minute details.
The love god himself sported a sparkled pink tux jacket with black trim and a matching fuschia bowtie, and black polyester pants and derbies. Juandissimo, whom Cupid tried to convince to match in sequins but refused, still dressed a similar way although his jacket remained a plum purple with black trim and a black bowtie. Sequins would drown out his complexion anyway.
"Children of the couple!" Cupid demanded, hovering over to where Timmy, Poof, and Ro remained. "You better get your cute little tushies in the party now before your parents."
"Because..?" Timmy ventured.
"Because the last entrance is the most important, that being your parents." Cupid reminded. "And I did not reserve the doves for you three."
"Doves?" Ro asked, slight disbelief in her hollow gaze.
"Yeppers, now let's go people."
"Give us a sec, we'll be out soon." Poof calmed, afraid any more resistance would make the love god explode into raining pink confetti.
"Okay, fine. But make it five." Cupid floated off to the way which let to the courtyard, Juandissimo looking at the three hesitantly.
"I'll blame you three if the vein in his head pops."
"Us?" Ro asked. "What drugs were put in his coffee this morning?"
The purple-eyed fairy couldn't hold back his snort from that one, floating off in Cupid's hasty path.
As the three remained, Timmy had stopped trying to hide his gaze upon Ro and her attire that evening.
Her very long silver hair was tied into a low knot updo with accent braids, and strands of smaller hair hung loosely in an elegant form. The dress a long, grey mermaid cut with a sweetheart neckline with straps aiming behind her neck to cross in a maxi back to the dress. Upon her waist laid a silver dres belt, and from her lobes dangled pear-shaped sapphire diamond earrings while her feet occupied grey strappy closed-toe heels.
"You look amazing," Timmy admired.
"I do? You two are pretty freakin' fly." Flo said.
The guys smiled, both sporting a white polyester tux jacket with black trimming and both black pants and derbies. Poof's including a lavender bowtie and matching waistcoat underneath his jacket, whereas Timmy sported a dark fuschia pink bowtie with a matching cummerbund at his waist.
"Well," Timmy spun once, shrugging his jacket as he did so. "We only deliver."
Poof rolled his eyes.
Ro looked beyond them. "Apparently the head of the party does, too."
They turned away just to see that their father approached from the grand staircase. Admittedly, both were surprised at such a get out from him.
A jacket and pants set of fine black polyester and black satin trim, with shined black plain-toe derby shoes. The white cotton fabric of his dress shirt underneath accompanied by a white silk bowtie, and in the chest pocket of his left peck, a silk mint green pocket square folded in a one peak fold that matched with his mint green cummberbund. Twisted infinity-shaped golden cufflinks held onto his sleeve cuffs and his recently trimmed hair kept its usual shape although it was like freshly cut grass the way it hovered gently in its parting underneath his polished crown. He hovered over to the three who observed the man of the hour in astonishment.
Timmy let out a long whistle. "You. Brushed. Up."
"Oh, this?" Cosmo looked down at his attire. He brushed the folds of his jacket and then sleeves, before looking back and grinning cockily. "Yeah, I did."
The younger three chuckled.
"Wait, 'till mom sees you." Poof reminded.
"Wait 'till you see her," Ro added rather. "I may have gotten a preview."
"I guess that means you're 'in' with the rest of the ladies." Timmy commented.
"Welp, I would have to get myself in somehow." Ro said. "Least of all, Wanda would make sure of it."
"Ohhhh, they love you!" Cosmo couldn't help but admit to including Ro as a part of their extended family. That being their close friends. "I mean all they do is talk about you, and you with Timmy, and talk, and talk, and talk, and talk-"
"O-Okay, Cosmo." Timmy eased. He hadn't even told his godfather of his proposal plans yet, but somehow Cosmo seemed to be spilling beans without even knowing. "Where's Wanda, anyway?"
"Getting ready." Cosmo bit back a laugh. "Still."
"Yeah, still, alright." Poof said. "And Cupid is blaming us for holding back schedule."
"The couple of honor will come to their party when they choose," Ro assured. "Meanwhile, I wouldn't mind you boys escorting me."
Poof puffed a laugh before he and Timmy both held out an arm. "Ma'am, your chariot awaits."
"Thank you, good sirs." She played along, allowing them to lead her to the courtyard's entrance as the boys said goodbye to their father for now.
Cosmo watched them off from the bottom of the stairwell, meanwhile failing to notice the pink being who hesitantly hovered around the corner atop. Looking down at herself in a moment of final consideration, but knowing it was all or none. She floated down with the confidence she knew was in her. And in seeing her husband on the other end, that will power seemed it ignite into stronger levels.
The green fairy at the end finally caught the blur of pink in the corner of his eye and turned to choke on his own breath.
Oh, for the love of all that was good and meaningful...
A long satin blush pink halter dress hugged her body in a mermaid cut and grazed just below the toes of her white pumps. Accompanied by a white faux fur shawl hugging her forearms from behind. Underneath her crown, her hair was let down. But her usual tight ringlets of pink curls styled with a bit more volume which framed her face, her lobes occupied with small double-studs of diamonds. Upon her neck laid the necklace he had left for her.
Turns out all this time planning was worth it, as Cosmo thought to himself.
Making way to a lower level as she reached him, something gratifying lulled her closer as she swore Cosmo's eyes had never been a brighter green with his focus cast so closely on her.
"Wow.." he said.
As he was stolen by the way she looked, Wanda too couldn't help but admire how cleaned up and wonderfully handsome Cosmo was in such a tux. Every time he dressed up she couldn't help but adore how striking he was.
"Wow, yourself."
"No, like, wow." Cosmo took her hand as she made it to him, hovering a step or two above her husband on the stairwell. Cosmo looked up at the pink of her eyes that seemed to sparkle all the more. He brushed his lips to her fingers and the rouge of her cheeks deepened.
He pulled her closer by that same hand as she reached to clasp onto his shoulders as his arms snaked around her waist.
"Forget the party, just stay here with me. Geez." He said, still staring at her in astonishment.
She giggled. "Then ten thousand years built up would seem kinda a waste, huh?"
"Not with you it isn't.."
Her eyes blinked gently from his adoration. Like magnets, they leaned in with closed eyes and softly parted lips as they craved gentle contact.
"Now, THAT is how you dress for spectacle at your own party." They looked towards the approaching Cupid. A small etch of annoyance in Cosmo's gaze though he could not disagree with him. "Bravo."
"Thanks, Cupid." Wanda said.
"Come on, come on. It won't be an anniversary party without the couple. C'mon." Cupid urged, turning away in expecting them to follow on his tail. They looked to each other in satisfaction and Cosmo pulled away before giving her his arm. She latched onto him gratefully as he led her along Cupid's path, the fresh forest-like cologne she knew him to always wear hitting her instantly. She rested her cheek to his shoulder. The night had barely started, yet it didn't matter. She could feel his world's worth of love enough already.
The same courtyard had a beautified makeover with the tablecloths, the green and pink flower centerpieces, and the illuminating neon lights that lit up the bordered fountains of the venue. Guests of formal attire occupied the entirety either at their table, up in greeting, upon the designated dance area, by the bar or buffet, or those few who sneaked into the inside of the hotel for a breather.
As soon as things picked up in the night, it all progressed.
They'd manage to convince Cupid to chill from making sure everything was in order and have a few drinks, at least Juandissimo did. A partying Cupid and Juandissimo was definitely not something anyone wanted to miss. Binky definitely had his fair share, and it was quite the show watching him and a few others on the dance floor with all that liquor energy pushing his confidence, much to Jorgen's amusement who'd nearly laughed out a lung. Even the April Fool couldn't help but chat away with everyone in flattering the couple of the hour, too. A few of Cosmo and Wanda's high school and Fairy Academy friends reminisced non-stop about the two's more memorable goofy stories, which may or may have not made Cosmo and Wanda slightly embarrassed on more than one occasion.
Spirits became higher, happiness glowed, not a care in the world for the occupants that celebrated the night away. Wanda doubled over in laughter when Cosmo, Timmy, and Poof dragged her along in doing the Carlton dance. Faces who were invited by the hosts overjoyed them more and more. Funny what a couple of drinks and nightlife could bring out in people. Every so often the loud extravagance would be put on pause so someone could get a word in on congratulating the couple. Most notably the proud sons.
"The only worry really was pulling out the stops for a party almost bigger than your wedding," Timmy spoke in his and Poof's toast to the party. "If it's worth celebrating the love you guys have though, we're more than lucky to be here witnessing it."
"Just don't let dad near the pudding fountain again." Poof humored before the vibration of laughter marched over the crowd of guests.
There had been very few dried eyes by the end of it, and as things progressed into more hours, every soul only let the night take them as if there was no tomorrow. A while after Timmy and Poof's toast, the small family reconciled at a lone table once more.
"You boys were so sweet putting that together." Wanda said, pulling up a chair that faced away from the table as Cosmo sat next to her. Timmy and Poof sat vertically from them in their own chairs that they stole nearby. "I kept tearing up."
"Not to mention Jorgen," Timmy spoke through subtle teeth, twisting his champagne glass in hand. "A whole lot of blubbering on that end."
"You'll eat those words, Turner." Speaking of, the keeper of the rules himself came in approaching the family. Decked in his own white tux and plum tie for the night's events.
"And how're you doing, Jorg?" Timmy played off.
"Recovering?" Poof also teased.
"Alright, alright." He pulled out a pink envelope from his tux jacket before handing it down to the married couple. "Something to offer."
"Oh Jorgen, you didn't have to." Wanda said as she took it in return. They'd said in advance they wanted no gifts since the party and their guests' presence was already more than enough. She wouldn't say no, though.
The larger fairy almost snorted. "There's a lot I didn't have to do."
The relationship Cosmo and Wanda had with Jorgen in their lifetime was much of a rollercoaster as well. Mainly when they were godparents during some of their 'lesser' periods where some godkids were done with too soon. So much even that at some points Jorgen wouldn't give them as many congratulations for the many successful godchildren they had from all the migraines they somehow delivered to him. Still, the way in which they were met with him a lot allowed him to get to know them more than his other employees. Cosmo and Wanda definitely had a passion and consideration for their former job that Jorgen couldn't overlook. Especially when being assigned to Turner, was he forced to measures of understanding them more. Was it a friendship built out of odd circumstances? Maybe. So was Juandissimo for that matter, though. But Cosmo and Wanda wouldn't trade these people or the people they'd always be friends with for anything.
"Notice how engraved in the signature, you'll find 'best boss ever'." Jorgen pointed out. "Goes without saying if you ask me."
Cosmo just had to open his mouth. "But, you're not our boss anymore-?"
"Well, then I WAS." He warned. Poof and Timmy bit back laughing grins. An infuriated Jorgen always tickled their funny bones. "Enjoy it. I'm gonna go bet on Binky's next drunken move."
"Please don't let Binky end up dead at the end of the night." Wanda called in worry.
"Cosmo, Wanda." Another approached the four, by the name of Dr. Rip Studwell. "Flowers delivered to your room. Hoping yours was 710, or some other couple is gonna be confused by the towel swans."
The pink fairy nodded. "No, that's more than kind. You all didn't have to do this."
"Least I could do." The doctor laughed heartedly. "No less than that food gift basket some Mark Chang guy sent."
"He sent what?" Wanda asked, then easing from Cosmo clutching her hand with an adored smile.
"You worry too much.." he teased, leaning to nudge her cheek with his nose.
His chill washed her tension away. "Thank you, Studwell. Really."
"Might wanna throw that food basket away." He said. "Don't know what kinda food they have on that planet Yugo-whatever."
The doctor began to leave before he halted and turned back around.
"Oh, Poof." Studwell called, the lavender fairy refraining from taking a sip from his champagne in looking back. "A niece of mine works down at your publishing company. Misty?"
He smiled faintly. "Yeah. We interned one summer together before we were hired."
"She told me about your offer. Congrats, by the way."
The minimal smile on Poof's face dropped in paleness as the doctor wandered off. The younger fairy looked to Timmy hastily and then his parents who stared at him, hearing correctly as they looked on at their son in surprised confusion.
"Poof?" Wanda asked.
He'd wanted to say so, but not now. Not when the night was good and meant to be about them. He was hoping by tomorrow when the rest of the vacation was taking off he could tell them over brunch or something. It seemed there was no other choice now, feeling handcuffed to a chair by the question in their gaze.
"My book's being published."
Their eyes brightened in astoundment of their son's news. No less did their pride shine through the smiles that widened on their faces as Wanda was the first to yank her youngest into her arms with a cry of joy and Cosmo followed as they both squeezed him tight.
"Yup...told this morning." He choked for air in their arms.
The kisses his parents planted upon his face is where he turned red.
"Okay, okay!" Poof eased.
"Oh, Poof!" Wanda exclaimed as they refrained from their smooches. "Oh, my sweet. That's wonderful!"
"We're so proud!" Cosmo cried.
Letting him breathe as they let him go, his face was still wrangled from Wanda's caresses to his cheek, Cosmo's hand running through his hair with their excited eyes. Timmy snorted silently as Poof wondered if it was a universal thing for parents to show more overjoy for your own news than you yourself.
He wouldn't trade it for the world.
"When? What book?" Wanda asked hastily.
"Sunny told me." Poof said. "Y'know what I've said about Mr. Poppy, he likes sending good news through little messages. I also got a text confirmation from him a few hours ago."
Timmy's brows flew up. "Whoa, you didn't tell me about the text."
Cosmo gasped and batted Timmy's kneecap. "You knew and you didn't tell!"
"Are you kidding? Poof would've bight my head off."
"'Bitten.'" Poof corrected grammatically.
Timmy scoffed. "Yeah, that's why you're the author."
"Poof, sweetheart," Wanda reached to clutch his hand. "Oh, you're gonna be a published writer. You're gonna have your name on a book!"
"Did you take the official offer?" Timmy asked.
The lavender fairy looked around them excitedly. "I'd be stupid not to."
His parent's grins could not be contained any further as they sat back down.
Poof slipped a hand into his waistcoat pocket, holding out a folded paper. "Want a sample?"
"Uh, YES." Cosmo enthused, snatching the paper from his hand. Poof grinned from his father's joy that never ceased to bring out Poof's inherited enthusiasm from him.
"What's the title?" Timmy asked, taking a sip of his champagne.
Poof looked smug. "That's for me to know, and you to found out."
"Pfft, okay whatever."
Cosmo held the paper as Wanda leaned over in clutching his shoulder. Their eyes scanning the page and taking in every word hungrily. Their son really was a talented whiz in wording. Every word bouncing off one another beautifully yet sparing the last. And as the portion of the novel carried on, the realization of what it described dawned on both of them.
Wanda looked up with shy flattery. "You wrote about us...about Timmy."
Cosmo handed the paper to his godson, who looked at it in curiosity.
Poof breathed a small chuckle. "Doesn't hurt to have a brother who's a half-fairy."
"Because I'm successful?" Timmy gloated, reading the sample.
Poof shot him a mocking look. "Because a protagonist who's a freak sells."
His older brother gave him a bat on the shoulder, berating his fun. "And does this book take place before or after I found out I was a freak?"
Surrounded by his loving family, Poof felt that he not only should admit it but needed to let it be known. At least before he wrote a whole other book on how he felt from his passionate nature.
"I know I was just a ball with eyes when we were still in Timmy's bedroom," Poof said, receiving a hum of laughter from his family members. "But, if there's one thing I loved most growing up, it was hearing the stories of the godchild who had done and shared more with his godparents beyond what Fairy World could picture. Before and after he'd found out he was part-fairy, too. I wanna share these stories."
Poof retreated to playfulness, shooting a look to his godbrother. "I guess you're also partially responsible for my existence, so consider this a returned favor."
"Hey, that wish for you to be here was as much my want as Cosmo and Wanda's," Timmy argued through a laugh.
"And you've grown up so much," Cosmo couldn't help but admit. He and Wanda were still in high admiration for their son's dream becoming a reality.
"I grew up a while ago," Poof said. "I know I'm not as old as you guys, but a hundred and five is pretty much past aging."
"We know," Wanda sniffed. "You'll...you'll just always be our baby."
They came from different places, sure. Timmy a godchild becoming their own, and Poof born from their genetics, but they were their kids. Watching them grow up was a gem, even if they'd only become a part of Timmy's childhood when he was around eight. The earliest memory they had of Timmy was when first assigned to him when he was a rascal little kid, but with Poof, he had been an infant. The way in which the boys grew up before Cosmo and Wanda's eyes meant the world to them, but it was also different.
Timmy was their first real son.
But Poof was their first real baby.
Cosmo and Wanda tried so hard for their boys since the married couple had both grown up with parents who hadn't for them. Although with Timmy they had already been his saviors by starting as his godparents, Poof was brought from the ground up. A baby was one thing, but influencing him as he grew was another. Yet it astonished them how headstrong in life Poof had come to be. How much they loved watching him find his element despite missing the days when he used a real wand for the first time or uttered his first 'mama' and 'dada'. They'd barely blinked and now...
"You're just so big, and wonderful, and-" Wanda kept from choking.
"Mom," Poof humored.
Wanda cupped her hands together in pride for Poof. Then both her boys.
"Oh, it seems like only yesterday you had that adorable overbite," she said to Timmy, then glancing at Poof. "And you were just a little ball in his arms."
"Wanda," Timmy whined.
"Mom," Poof echoed.
"Such an emotional day." Wanda waved a hand in front of her eyes, preventing tears from smudging the makeup she'd taken the time to do by hand. "I feel like it's not just about Cosmo and me. It's a day for all of us."
"Oh, you've got that right." Poof patted a hand behind Timmy's back. "Hear that Timmy? Now'd be the perfect time to admit it."
"Poof!" Timmy berated right as his godbrother got up with his champagne glass in hand, giving his parents another hug before scurrying away as he laughed like a devious troll. The half-fairy begrudgingly looked back at his godparents, the green and pink fairy confused all over again.
"Admit what?" Wanda asked.
Looks like it was his turn.
The only problem was that Poof knew that his book was actually being published. Timmy didn't know what to expect out of his news when it came to Ro. She did love him, and it seemed she'd only say yes. But Timmy's deep, deep eternal fear of rejection crawled up every so often.
"I trust you guys to keep me sane. I just don't know how well you could this time."
"Of what, sweetie?" Wanda again questioned. Great, now he was worrying them.
"I've been thinking.." Timmy started unsurely. "That maybe some official change is needed. Good change."
Cosmo's brow creased. "You mean work?"
"No," Timmy would never give that up. Not as long as he was always doing the greater good. "I'm always ready for unexpected things, I did when I was a kid and I still am. I love what I do, but there's just a possibility for something else."
There was still mild confusion in their looks, which admittedly made it more thrilling to tell them. His hand slipped into his jacket pocket to clutch onto an object and he pulled out his rolled fist before fastening it forward in his lap.
"And well," Timmy chuckled, unrolling his palm with the ring in hand. "I think I gotta take that chance."
Wanda covered her mouth, while Cosmo brought Timmy's open hand closer by his wrist in shocked observance.
"I've known for a while, really.."
Wanda's hand trailed from her lips to her heart. "Oh, sport.."
"So, is that a yes?"
Cosmo looked up, still holding Timmy's wrist. "For what?"
"Your approval?"
Wanda laughed loudly as if she was mad. "Oh, what is this. The first ice age? YES! Don't listen to us old hags! We've been married for ten thousand years!"
His wide tooth smile deepened.
Cosmo rolled Timmy's fist back up and patted it before letting go. "Don't ramble too much like I did."
"Can't promise that. I've been nervous for weeks. I dunno when I even wanna ask."
"Tonight." Wanda encouraged.
"Guys, it's your day-"
"You don't have to announce it to the world, yet. There's amazing scenic spots around here." She nodded with encouraging eyes. "Take her."
Timmy slipped the ring back into his pocket. "I guess I have a lot to thank you guys for, first."
The godparents considered what he said and failed to the glossiness of their eyes that they blinked back. It was hard to remember that a child becoming engaged or any similar milestone was like crossing a new finish line. They recalled feeling this way when he moved out.
"I'm not Poof, but," Timmy paused in realizing that he felt emotional. "A lot of who I am is because of you guys."
Wanda's lips curved upwards as she and Cosmo took Timmy's free hand to clutch firmly.
"Don't act like just because you were never our baby-baby, that watching you grow up is any less..."
"..hard." Cosmo said. Timmy smiled at his godfather.
"We're so lucky to have you.." Wanda said softly. "I just thank our lucky stars that we have this life."
Timmy gazed at them warmly. "I know, I do too."
Wanda's hands tightened around the hand which Timmy held the ring in.
"You and Ro are lucky to found one another, too."
Their godson soaked in their devoted support. Smirking, he cocked an eyebrow. "Honest question?"
"Hit us with it." Cosmo challenged.
"Did you guys like Ro when I first brought her home?"
Cosmo scrunched his face. "Why're you wondering that?"
"Your parents didn't like you guys."
His godfather blinked.
"Oh, we liked her." Wanda assured. "Love her now. The half-pixie and elf part was amazing if anything, we knew as well as anyone that not all pixies are H.P. Just as not all fairies are.."
"Blonda?" Cosmo guessed. His wife rolled her eyes.
"Heh." Timmy laughed. The godparents noticed him get lost in a sudden trance as another thought hooked him.
Aside from the parents in front of him, the memory of another pair of parents of his was reminded. And while feeling all the parental love he needed from the fairies here, in a big moment like this, he couldn't help but think of the mother and father whom he started with down on earth.
"I wish mom and dad had gotten to meet her." Timmy admitted. "I mean geez, there's a lot I wish they were still alive to see.."
Wanda brushed the brown of his hair from her godson's face. "You know they'd be as proud of you as we are."
"You're really saying that?" Timmy asked in amusement. The way in which Wanda's pride shined for her boys almost overshadowed just about anything in its way, let alone sharing that pride with anyone other than Cosmo.
"I can only speak for what I assume." Wanda said, shaking her godson's kneecap in jest.
"You sure you want me to do this, tonight?"
"Timmy, we've been married for ten-thousand years. There's nothing shocking at this party." Wanda reminded.
"Yeah, if she says no it'll be more entertaining!" Cosmo joked. Both his wife and Timmy gave him sarcastic smiles.
"Tim?" Someone called amongst the booming of the party surrounding them. He looked back to see Ro along the way. They'd planned to wander off anyhow, and supposedly it was a perfect time for him to pop the question.
"Go," Wanda encouraged gently. "Oh, sport. You two are gonna be so happy."
"You're gonna experience the best love," Cosmo agreed.
Timmy looked back once, meeting Ro's smiling expecting gaze and then back to the other two fairies in front of him.
"I mean, I have two people to thank for that," he said. His eyes holding an admiration for them as he didn't think he'd be anywhere without them, "mom, dad."
He nearly lost his breath from their bone-crushing hug. Embracing him as if they were crossing into an entirely new part of life. Which in a way, they were. Sending their boy...young man...to a new beginning with someone they knew they could trust in keeping his heart full of love and never letting it shatter. Ro and Tim said they were absolute, but Cosmo and Wanda already believed them since the beginning when Timmy's love started to become apparent. They'd give him the acceptance and love that their parents' lacked for them when they'd fallen into each other's hearts.
"Guys?" He said in their hug. "Ro's waiting.."
"Mhm," Wanda nodded. But they didn't let him go before Timmy realized that each side of his face was being tackled by a kiss from each of them and he let out a slight groan.
"C'mon guys, in front of the party.."
The fairies pulled away with their usual immature grins. Timmy wiping away both of his cheeks of their residue and Wanda's lipstick with a small mocking laugh.
"I'm going now."
"Good luck, sport.."
They watched him approach his girlfriend, who chuckled from the previous sight. He gave her a playful push before she retracted back to him and waved to Cosmo and Wanda as they smiled while Ro and Timmy went off with his arm around her. The elf-pixie oblivious to what was to come.
And with the two left, Cosmo looked once to his wife who looked back at him expectantly. The timing seemed to line up perfectly as the next song of the surrounding party changed to a slower jazz melody. Cosmo lifted from his chair and hovered in front of Wanda's. He held out a hand and flicked his fingers in gesturing to her. She took his offered hand as he lifted her, spinning her once in dragging her away to an open spot as she was brought closer to hold one of his shoulders. Their held hands positioned comfortably in a dance hold as Cosmo's other hand rested upon her waist.
Pink gazed into green so intently, the melody wrapped around them in its own type of embrace. Allowing the souls of the couple to emmit to a whole new universe crafted for only them. Their hearts soared, but their faces eased in no choice but to look to one another. None of the guests that occupied the area could be seen to bother them with such a look bouncing back and forth between Cosmo and Wanda. Why ruin heaven itself?
Wanda sighed, and Cosmo's lips curved upwards.
Some night.
The married couple decided that their break from the scene had come, and took their own breather. They could always return to their guests again afterward, but right now, it needed to be just them.
Opening the room of their suite, they laughed hysterically as Wanda held the door for Cosmo who came in with a champagne bottle and two glasses in hand. Taken, rightfully or not, from the bar at the party as they giggled like children who had just stolen from a corner store.
Still out of breath from her laughter, Wanda turned the suite lights on with a flick of her wand. She neared to the glass doors of the balcony to open them as Cosmo reentered from the suite's bedroom.
"Studwell wasn't kidding about the towel swans." He still carried the bottle and glasses. "I didn't know they'd be swan-shaped though."
"What else were you expecting?" Wanda laughed, frozen in holding the handles to the balcony doors.
"I thought swans turned to towels. Now THAT'S romantic. And soft!"
His wife bit back her smile as she opened the balcony doors and wandered into the breezy night. Their window specifically situated far above the courtyard where the party continued. Wanda shrugged her shawl on her forearms before leaning against the balcony's banner, cocking her hips in resting as one leg crossed the other.
Cosmo hovered in the doorway observing her. Albeit she was beautiful, he wouldn't withhold his thoughts about how the body-hugged dress was undeniably sexy. With her hips cocked one way, his eyes didn't stop their surveyance.
She looked over her shoulder. "Yes?"
"Don't mind me.." he spoke. "But if you could maybe just bend-"
"Oh, stop."
Cosmo floated out to join her, Wanda taking the glasses from him as he unscrewed the champagne's muselet. Once taken off, he held the cork and gently twisted before a large pop ensued and he held the cork high from the steaming bottle.
"Woo." He purposely cheered dully. Wanda giggled.
Filling each glass to it's wanted portion, the bottle was set aside as Wanda handed one glass to her husband. Taking it, Cosmo's free arm encircled around his wife's waist to bring her towards him and keep her there.
His rich green eyes held a deep admiration for the love of his life.
"Happy ten-thousandth, lambchop.."
"Here's to ten thousand more.." Wanda responded.
They clinked their glasses and took a small swig. The crisp, creamy, mellowness of the taste hitting Wanda in an instant. They really pulled out all the stops for this celebration and the expensive champagne paid no difference. Licking her lips satisfactorily, she looked to Cosmo who pulled his glass away with ecstasy on his face.
"Don't overdo it there, bud. I'd still like you present with me, tonight." Wanda laughed.
Cosmo grinned playfully and set his glass upon the balcony's ledge. His arm still remained around Wanda as she also set her glass down and brought her hands to his chest as he used his other hand to lightly run along her draped curls.
"Did I tell you you're beautiful?" He asked as his nose brushed hers, his fingers caressing her hair.
"In life, or tonight?" Wanda questioned. "Because the answer to both is yes."
Cosmo's gaze was cast deeply into her's as he lifted her hand to stroke with a delicate thumb and kiss it softly. They both wanted more though as they held their eyes in a lock, igniting the spark of everlasting love and sealing it before leaning in.
Their lips parted in anticipating their touch and just barely brushed together before a crack and boom from the sky made them stop in fear. Looking towards the outside night of their balcony, fireworks set off. Explosions of pink and green above the resort skyline and the happy couple smiled at the notion of Cupid's yet again surprise. He never ceased to catch them off guard.
Wanda watched the beautiful scenery with a content sigh, resting her head in the crook of Cosmo's neck as her hand absentmindedly caressed the tux material of his chest. Cosmo's hand still played with her curls, but he did not keep it that way for long. Trailing his hand to the under part of her chin, he turned her head only slightly before he tilted his face and parted her lips with his softly in a sealing kiss.
Even if it wasn't, they couldn't help but feel as if eyes were on them from the partying people below. The laughter, the bass booming of the music, the cheering, the clinking of glasses. Happiness shoved into one place to where Cosmo and Wanda thought how this wouldn't be the case had they never, ever crossed paths as teenagers and their lives were changed forever.
The life and relationships with all these people, quite possibly, sat on the shoulders of their love.
They ended their kiss though they gazed into each other's eyes.
"Can you believe it with the boys?" Wanda asked.
"Yeah.."
She sensed his tone. "Are you..okay with it all?"
"Of course." Cosmo agreed. He would never deny his children's happiness in love or ambition. Not after he and Wanda's parents did that to them. "It just got me thinking.."
"That's new." She teased. He shook her in his grip and she grinned against his cheek as she turned in her arms to face him.
Squeezing her once as to show his love, he gently let her go and wandered back into the room. Wanda watching them from their balcony as she edged in to follow but watch him at a distance as he pondered questionably.
Timmy and Poof's lives have long taken off by now. Their parents had plenty of emotional albeit wonderful moments watching them grow up as unforgettable kids to the people they were now. Somehow though, this change ran deeper this time. Probably in part with the milestone Cosmo had reached in his marriage. Something which made him ponder that aside from his job, and love, and life now, if there was anything he wanted to add to the mix.
This wasn't the first time he was thinking this. Not at all, oh he thought about it plenty before. Wanting to say it was another thing. With his anniversary and the boys reaching goals they'd been longing after, it seemed as if the universe gave Cosmo the go in finally admitting it. Admitting it to the spouse that waited patiently behind him with curious pink eyes as he turned to look at her, bouncing off her expression with a real truth in his gaze.
"Wanda, I..." Cosmo quieted, "I want another baby..."
She'd been clutching her shawl in waiting, but her hands drifted in their sudden drop of the material against her as she looked to her husband with a hint of shock she could not hide.
"Do you really..?" Wand asked in bafflement. They hadn't had a discussion remotely related to this at all recently.
He felt his eyes dwell up. "I love them so much," he said. "I want to do it again. I want to do it all over again. I mean, with Timmy, we only got it when he was like eight. But with Poof we had it from the beginning. I want-I want-"
"Cosmo," she drew forward and clutched his hands in hers. "Wow.."
"Yeah.." Cosmo agreed softly. He met her gaze again. "I just needed to say...because I don't know if you want to either. And I'm...I'm ready if it's a no."
She stared into him. Previous to Poof, previous to Timmy even, as godparents in the day they discussed if the possibility for children were to be wanted, they would do everything they could to make it happen. Children, not just a single child per se. Wanda couldn't say it was exactly what she'd been thinking of as of now in time, but in the past for sure. They had Poof when they'd already fallen in love with Timmy as their own child, which is what made Poof their second even before they knew Timmy would actually be theirs forever and ever. From there they hadn't really discussed what the future of other kids would be. At the time, a ten-year-old and a baby was a handful already.
"Before we had Poof," Wanda reminded. "I was hesitant about telling you in case you'd feel obliged until it turned out that you were also ready. That you were more than ready."
Cosmo's head rocked to one side. "So you also want a baby..?"
His wife thought the point. "I don't think I realized until now. I do miss having it, and.." she gazed into him lovingly, "I don't see any reason for us to not. We're stable, the boys are stable. Poof just got his pitch. And for all we know Timmy's engaged by now."
Her husband grinned at her in heavenly contentment. "Maybe we'll have a girl."
She pressed her nose to his. "Are you trynna bribe me with a daughter..?"
"I dunno, is it working..?"
"Maybe.." she smiled coyly.
"You're the one who lasted in the house with all three of us boys," Cosmo recalled. "May I remind you of the wet toilet seat you'd find in the middle of the night."
"That's because of your aim, my friend. Not where my tush lands."
"Okay, yeesh."
She giggled and raised a hand to his cheek to keep him close.
"Alright," Wanda spoke. She began to laugh, wondering if this was really happening. "Let's do it, let's have another baby!"
A hearty laugh of excitement left Cosmo as he swung his arms around her, lifting Wanda higher as his face buried into her shoulder with more escalated laughs. Those laughs mounting into frantic little kisses of joy on the lips. Completely and utterly at peace with the world around them.
As his hips suddenly pressed beseechingly against hers, Wanda's eyes opened wide in shock as she pulled away gently.
"When you say another baby, you really meant right-"
Cosmo's lips sealed back across her's, dragging her to the bedroom.
. . .
. .
First of all, I totally see Poof growing up to be some kinda novelist. Second of all, with Poof and Timmy being grown up, I'd imagine that Cosmo and Wanda would have more children in their lifetime if given the chance, so I hope dat was cute or whateverrrr. I also tried to write Cupid and Juandissimo in a way where they can be interpreted as either friends or a couple, since I'm indecisive and love them as both.
Hope you enjoyed this. I was thinking this or something Timmy-angst related, but I think this had to be done. :) Who says I can't do angst in the future, though?
Let me know if you guys would like a part two to this. I'm not making this a whole series, but maybe it would be fun to have an insight of events at Timmy's wedding day or something like that.
See ya!
