Phoenix: Hey-o, everybody! Welcome to a new story!
V.C.: A question, if I may. What happens when you mix Ben 10 and RWBY? Besides an interesting idea and a plot about Jaune getting the watch.
Frostwing: I don't know. What?
K.N.:RW-Ben! Hahaha!
Phoenix: Okay, first off, no. Second, HOW THE HECK DID YOU TWO EVEN GET HERE?
V.C.: I invited them.
Phoenix: You invited our alternate versions without asking me?!
Frostwing: Yup! And now we're here to stay.
K.N.: And we came to play.
Phoenix: You know what? Fine. Let's move on and get started. Don't forget to review and tell us what you all think.
Disclaimer: We do not own RWBY or Ben 10. Enjoy!
Note: This is a revised version of the first chapter. Many mistakes have been fixed, more detail has been added, and some scenes have been edited and/or changed. Enjoy the chapter!
Chapter 1: Enter the Omniverse
In the deep void of space, one could see what appeared to be a cargo spaceship cruising along. Nothing seemed too far out of the ordinary until a large red and black warship began to approach at high speeds, fully intent on obtaining whatever was aboard the cargo cruiser.
Inside of that cargo ship, one could see a vast variety of alien species were running around panicking. That is, except for one small grey, frog-like bipedal alien with long grey whiskers and green eyes that had minus sign-shaped pupils.
"Vilgax... What a surprise." His tone was deeply laced with sarcasm as stared down at his lap. He let out a sigh, deep in thought. "What shall I do? If it stays here, then he will surely get his slimy tentacles on my greatest creation."
The frog-like being spared a glance at the pod seated safely next to him and sighed once more. "Think Azmuth, think. How am I going to ensure the Omnitrix is safe from Vilgax? Hm...I could send it somewhere out of anyone's reach. But where...?"
"Sticky situation isn't it, Azmuth old bean?" A British accented voice asked in slight amusement.
The alien creature named Azmuth jumped slightly before looking in the voice's direction. What he saw was a middle-aged man wearing a lab coat. This man had short brown hair and deep brown eyes. Hanging from his waist was a golden pocket watch.
Azmuth's eyes narrowed at the sight of this man. "Paradox, I haven't the time to-"
"You haven't the time to resolve your problem?" Paradox asked, raising an inquisitive brow.
The frog-like alien's eyes narrowed further at the time-traveler, clearly trying to figure out what he could be talking about. His tone wary, Azmuth asked. "What do you mean, Paradox?"
Instead of answering the Galvan, the time-traveler replied with a question of his own. "Tell me Azmuth, have you ever heard of the multiverse theory?"
A small smile touched Paradox's face as the alien's eyebrows knitted in annoyance. The smile served only to annoy the Galvan, causing him to snap at the professor. "Of course I have! The mental capacity required to know or understand such a theory is child's play to a Galvan! What does that have to do with anything?"
Paradox's smile grew wider as he spoke. "It has plenty to do with everything. Keeping in mind the ideals of which the Omnitrix were created upon, I believe it would be best to send it to an alternate world. One truly in need of it's services."
Azmuth's eyes narrowed at the thought. Sending the Omnitrix elsewhere was a horrible idea. He wouldn't be able to readily check on the device and ensure that nothing wrong would happen. In addition to that, there was no telling how the device would respond to a foreign dimension.
But as he opened his mouth to speak, Paradox spoke up once more.
"Before you say anything, I can ensure you that you will have easy access to the dimension where the watch will reside. Also, if any issues relating to the Omnitrix are to come about, then I will personally send you to that world so you may fix it. The purpose of the Omnitrix is to keep peace, correct?"
"Yes." Azmuth nodded, knowing Paradox was right. "It was designed to bring and keep peace throughout the universe."
"Well, there is a world in need of a peacekeeper. Also, I should remind you that sending it elsewhere would keep the Omnitrix safe from the grasp of those like Vilgax." Paradox explained, hoping to avoid any major arguments with the Galvan.
Azmuth thought over everything Paradox said before feeling the ship's foundation shake. He glanced out a nearby window in time to see Vilgax's ship approaching and a large metallic rod that had pierced the Galvan's ship.
Quickly weighing his options, Azmuth realized that he didn't have much else of a choice. Running a hand over his face, he could only think of one thing to say in terms of approval. "Keep it safe."
The professor beamed at those words. "Splendid! I shall be on my way. Good luck with that nasty Vilgax, my old friend." With that said, the time-traveler grabbed the small metal pod and disappeared in a flash of light.
Azmuth could hear the wretched sound of the ship's hatch being ripped wide open, signaling the entrance of the warlord's forces. Jumping down from his seat, Azmuth walked into a Galvan sized escape pod.
As his pod shot off into the void of space, Azmuth could faintly hear Vilgax's furious screams. He would have smiled in victory, but couldn't. He was overwhelmed by a horrible feeling of dread that was forming inside of him. Something was going to happen, and he could only wait to see exactly what.
Meanwhile in Remnant:
Professor Ozpin sat at his desk, sipping from his cup of freshly brewed coffee. The white haired man was currently looking over paperwork when a bright flash engulfed his office. When the light died down, it revealed Professor Paradox standing in the center of the room.
"Paradox, you do know there is a door, correct?" Ozpin asked his visitor. He was not surprised to see the time-traveling, multi-dimensional professor.
Paradox let out a small chuckle at Ozpin's slightly sarcastic comment. "Ah, good to see you too Ozpin. For the record, I am aware of the existence of the door. However, you should know that flashing in reduces the chances of me being spotted. I do want to keep a low profile, after all."
Ozpin nodded swiftly, still not glancing up to face his visitor. "Very well then. What, may I ask, are you here for? You rarely visit without reason."
"My reason for coming is simple. It lies within this little vessel." The expression on Paradox's face grew deathly serious as he lifted up the small metallic pod containing the Omnitrix.
Ozpin finally gazed up from his work and stared at the small pod, his brows knitting in the smallest showing of curiosity. "I see. What is the significance of it?"
"I wish to hide it in a place where no one is likely to find it. Somewhere like the depths of the Emerald Forest, for example. You see, this little pod contains a powerful device known as the Omnitrix. Once time works out and the device finds a worthy wielder, it will have the possibility to do great things." Paradox explained, his eyes meeting with Ozpin's.
"I see..." Ozpin hummed in thought. He debated the professor's request for a moment before slowly nodding. "Very well, Paradox. You have my permission to hide the watch in the Emerald Forest. Also, due to the seriousness of this situation, I will promise to personally keep a watchful eye on it."
"Thank you, Ozpin. I shall hide it immediately and inform you of the exact location." With that said, Paradox disappeared in another flash of light.
As he sat in his office, glancing back down at his paperwork and frowning, Ozpin ran a hand through his hair and sighed heavily. "I hope that I do not live to regret this decision."
Years Later:
Jaune Arc liked to think he was an all-around normal seventeen-year-old boy with shaggy blonde hair and bright cerulean colored eyes who wore a brownish hoodie of his favorite cereal figure; Pumpkin Pete alongside a black shirt underneath and a pair of blue jeans. Atop all that, he wore bulky silver armor over his chest.
Yet if he was so normal, then he had to wonder sometimes as to how he got into the types of situations like the one he was in at that moment.
He supposed it started not to long ago when he managed to fake his way into Beacon Academy with fake transcripts and- Wait a minute! Where was he again?
Oh right, hanging by his hoodie in the Emerald Forest during Beacon's Initiation. He realized he had to get down somehow and started struggling to get free. After a few minutes of fumbling around, he was able to slip out of his hoodie and armor chest plate. Unfortunately, that resulted in him landing harshly on his butt.
"Oww. Definitely not the best start to Beacon..." He grunted, rubbing his lower back in pain. He suddenly noticed something odd about where he had landed. The forest's ground seemed torn up, as if someone had dug a hole there and placed the shrubbery on top of it.
Jaune stared at the part of the ground where the hole seemed to be for a moment before curiosity got the better of him. He started pushing aside the forest life and dirt that was covering whatever hole had been dug. As he got further into it, a bright green glow began to emanate from below.
As he finally got to the bottom of the small ditch, Jaune discovered the source of the odd green light. It was a small, open pod which appeared to be quite old looking.
Inside of this pod lay a bulky black wrist-watch with a square head and a circular grey faceplate. In the center of the faceplate showed a glowing green hourglass symbol. Beneath the faceplate was a glowing green button of some sort.
"A...watch? What's that doing here?" Jaune reached out for the device without thinking, only stopping himself half-way as hesitance took control. "Maybe I shouldn't touch-"
But before he could finish that thought, the watch jumped up and closed the distance. It stuck itself firmly to the blonde's left wrist and stayed there.
Acting on instinctive fear, Jaune screamed and fell back onto his rear. "AHH! FREAKY WATCH! GET IT OFF OF ME!" He started pulling, biting, and scratching away at the watch, hoping to somehow get it off.
Much to his dismay, the watch would not budge an inch. No matter what he tried, the device stayed firmly attached to his wrist, showing no signs of coming off anytime soon.. Jaune was about to scream again when he heard a voice.
"Hello? Is anyone there?"
Jaune's eyes widened at the familiar sound of that voice. He quickly hid the watch, deciding that he didn't want anyone else to see this freaky thing until he could get rid of it, and turned in the voice's direction.
From the bushes emerged a tall, tan skinned girl around Jaune's age with hair the color of blood that was styled in a waist-length ponytail and eyes that shone a bright green. Her attire consisted of a gold and brown corset around her upper body, a black battle skirt with a long ankle-length white sash wrapped around it. She also wore brown opera-length gloves and a pair of brown shoes.
The duo made eye contact, and the girl smiled slightly. "Hello Jaune. Do you still got room for one more on your team?"
The blonde knight groaned at the memory of what had happened earlier that day. "Very funny Pyrrha... Could you do me a favor and free my hoodie and armor for me?"
She nodded briskly before grabbing the arrow and yanking it loose, freeing Jaune's clothes and letting them fall to the forest ground. Jaune quickly put back on his hoodie and armor, carefully hiding the watch with the sleeve of his hoodie to prevent anyone from seeing it.
After he was finished, the two of them started walking in a somewhat awkward silence. Pyrrha heard an odd noise and glanced at her new partner in time to see him trip on a branch and fall face-first into some roots.
"Jaune, are you okay?" She asked in concern as she helped him back to his feet.
"I'm fine." He grunted in slight pain and embarrassment. Once he was steady, the blonde offered a small smile. "Thanks for the help."
"No problem, we are partners after all." Pyrrha smiled warmly. Her expression quickly changed to one of curiosity as a thought crossed her mind. "Shouldn't your aura have protected you from that?"
Jaune blinked in confusion. "My... aura?"
Pyrrha nodded, staring him down with a skeptical look. "Yes, Jaune, your aura. You do know what aura is, don't you?"
"Yes..." Jaune exaggerated with a sheepish smile. Pausing for a second, he then asked in a poor attempt to be coy. "Do you know what aura is?"
Rolling her eyes at his response, Pyrrha went about explaining it for him. "Aura is the physical manifestation of one's soul. All beings have an aura, it allows us to do a variety of things from quick healing to our semblances."
"Huh," Jaune let out a note of intrigue, placing his hand on his chin. "Do the Grimm have an aura?"
"As far as anyone knows, no. The Grimm are creatures of pure darkness, Jaune, our job as hunters is to protect others from them." Pyrrha stared Jaune dead in the eye, seemingly searching for something.
"Pyrrha, what are you doing?" Jaune asked, beginning to feel uncomfortable as Pyrrha stepped forward and placed her hands on his shoulders.
"I am going to try and unlock your aura." The spartan girl answered simply before closing her eyes and starting to concentrate.
As she concentrated, Pyrrha became outlined in faint white energy. That energy began to encircle Jaune, filling him with a newfound sense of energy and power he never knew he possessed. Pyrrhathen collapsed into Jaune's arms after the energy faded, a look of pure exhaustion on her face.
"Pyrrha, are you okay?" Jaune exclaimed in fear and concern.
Pyrrha let out a small groan. "I'll be fine, I promise. Unlocking one's aura takes a lot of energy out of someone, that's all." After a few minutes Pyrrha sighed.
"Jaune...?"
"Yeah?"
"You can let go now."
Jaune blushed a bright red. "O-oh, uh, right. Sorry." He apologized, letting go of the spartan.
Pyrrha giggled softly in response. "That's quite alright, Jaune. Now that that's taken care of, shall we continue?"
Jaune sheepishly scratched the back of his head while glancing down at the ground. "Well, uh, I actually gotta go pee."
"Oh, well, hurry up then." Pyrrha looked away in embarrassment as Jaune walked away.
Later:
After finishing his business, Jaune sat on a tree stump and stared at the watch in thought. He was trying to figure out a way to get it off of his wrist when the faceplate suddenly popped up and showed a shadow of an odd looking creature.
Intrigued by this, Jaune started to turn the faceplate. He stared in awe at the shadows of what he could only assume were some sort of other worldly beings. He was suddenly startled out of his trance by someone's voice.
"Hi Jaune!" Ruby Rose exclaimed, smirking evilly at her blonde haired friend.
Ruby was a fifteen year old girl with pale skin, long black hair that had natural red tips, and bright silver eyes, In addition to her smirk at the moment, Ruby wore a crimson red hood, a black t-shirt underneath, a red and black combat skirt with black tights, and red and black combat boots that went to her knees.
"AHHH!" Jaune screamed in surprise, falling off the log and accidently pressing down the faceplate. Jaune was then enveloped in a flash of green light that made the girl have to shield her eyes. When the light died down, Jaune was nowhere to be seen.
"Jaune? Hey, where'd ya go?" Ruby looked around in confusion and slight worry. Seeing no trace of him, the red/black haired girl got up to start searching for him. When she stepped forward, however, she felt something weird crunch beneath her boots.
"Ugh! Did I really just step in gum? Who the fudge leaves gum in the middle of the forest anyways?!" Ruby huffed in anger. Little did she realize, the reaper was about to be in for a shock.
"That's...not...gum... Ooh, my back..." A weak voice moaned out in pain, earning the reaper's undivided attention.
Ruby looked both ways to try and find the source of the voice before realizing it had come from under her. Lifting her boot, she saw a small grey figure lying on his stomach and twitching in pain against the hard forest ground.
Instead of feeling bad or worried, Ruby felt slight fear. She started stomping at the small creature, thinking he was something else. "Spider! DIE, DIE, DIE!"
The creature's eyes widened in terror as he jumped out of the way of an attempted stomp before trying to speak. "I'm not a spi-" He almost got squished that time, something that startled him greatly. "RUBY! It's me Jau-" Ruby slammed down her foot, catching his feet and causing him to scream in agony. "OOOWWWW! RUBY! IT'S ME! VOMIT BOY!"
Ruby paused in shock for a moment, processing what the creature had just said. There was only one person with that nickname who she knew. She hesitantly bent down and grabbed the creature which was actually a Galvan wearing a black and silver jumpsuit alongside the symbol of the watch's faceplate on his back. "…Jaune?"
"Heh, heh, that's me." The small alien let out a nervous laugh while rubbing the back of his head. "Jaune Arc; short, sweet, rolls off the tongue, ladies love it."
Ruby's only response to this was to have her brows furrowed and a frown cross her face. "What happened to you?"
"Well, that's a really funny story actually. You see, I found this watch that got stuck to my wrist. I started messing with it when you showed up and scared me, and then this happened."
Ruby went to ask more questions about what "this" was when she heard a loud beeping noise. Though she could see it at first, the symbol was flashing red. What she did see was the final flash of red light, this one consuming Jaune completely.
When that light faded, Jaune was back to his normal self. As a result of Ruby having been holding his Galvan form, he ended up toppling over her and landing directly on top of the reaper in a suggestive looking position.
'This is awkward." Ruby blushed, trying to compose herself while Jaune was adjusting to the fact that he was back to his normal self. Unfortunately for them both, someone stumbled upon them in this position and wasn't happy with it.
"Ack-hem!"
Jaune and Ruby turned to see a blond haired girl with lilac eyes named Yang glaring at them, and she wasn't alone either. Besides her was a raven haired girl with amber eyes named Blake, a white haired girl with blue eyes named Weiss, Pyrrha, a black haired boy named Ren, and finally an orange haired girl named Nora. They all were staring in disapproval, though none more than Yang herself.
Yang, who was Ruby's older sister, did not look happy at the moment. In fact that was an understatement, a massive understatement. She let out a low growl and glared daggers at the pair who were still in their embarrassing position.
"Yang... This is not what you think, I swear!" Ruby quickly shoved the blonde knight off of her and got to her feet.
"Really?" Weiss asked, eyes narrowing at her partner. "Then please, enlighten us on what it is Ruby. Because I see two people about to throw their chance at Beacon away for foolish desires."
"I-I tripped." Jaune stuttered, trying and failing to defend them both.
Yang scoffed at his weak excuse, seeing though his lies in an instant. "Please. Who do you think you're fooling Vomit Boy?"
"Well...uh, you?" He asked weakly in an attempt to be humorous. He bowed his head to hide from the harsh glares he received for making such a stupid comment. The atmosphere was tense as they all waited for Jaune or Ruby to try and speak once more in their defense
There was a short pause after this, one that was only broken when Pyrrha cleared her throat and gained everyone's attention.
"Perhaps we should drop it for now." Pyrrha suggested, grabbing Jaune roughly by the arm and pulling him to his feet. She gave him a quick look that suggested she was upset before turning to the others with a serious face. "After all, we still need to finish our Initiation."
"Fine," Yang huffed while crossing her arms over her chest. She then turned her gaze back to the duo of friends. "But don't think this is over you two."
"Of course not, Yang. There's always more with you Yang." Ruby replied, rolling her eyes in irritation.
Jaune also accepted defeat, letting out a small sigh and turning to continue the Initiation. "Alright then, let's just keep going."
With that said, the group of eight continued onward. After several minutes of tense silence and the occasional glare from Yang, they all reached a set of ruins. Within those ruins were various sets of artifacts that resembled chess pieces.
Each pair of hunters-in-training grabbed an artifact and shared a quick look before nodding to each other. They all prepared to leave when a sudden, loud cawing noise could be heard from above.
"Wh-what was that?" Jaune asked fearfully, shaking slightly at the thoughts of what type of Grimm could make such sounds.
"Based on what I understand of this forest, It sounded like a-." Blake was cut off by the sight of a giant raven-like creature with piercing red eyes and large talons that appeared to be stained with blood.
"A NEVERMORE!" Jaune screamed at the top of his lungs, sprinting up a nearby tree and hiding within the leaves.
"Really Jaune? Now you decide to be a coward?!" Yang shouted after the blonde knight in obvious outrage.
Poking his head out from the leaves, the blonde shouted back. "Yes! I do believe now to be the best place for cowardice!" With that, he ducked back into his hiding place and stayed there.
Yang let out a low growl, clearly upset with Jaune's actions. However, she relented, realizing they all had a bigger problem to worry about. The loud noises of Jaune and Yang shouting had alerted the Nevermore to their presence, and it was angry to see anyone trespassing in it's territory.
Letting out a fierce caw, the Grimm darted toward the group with incredible speeds. In response, everyone dodged and scattered around to make the battle more difficult for their opponent.
Yang ended up being the first to reenter the Nevermore's sight after they had all scattered. Lunging for it's prey, the raven-like creature prepared to strike. But before it could impale the blonde brawler, a chain wrapped itself around one of the bird's talons.
Glancing up, Yang saw Blake holding her weapon; a sniper rifle that was able to shift into a katana with a heavy chain that could also be used in combat. The weapon was known as Gambol Shroud.
The raven haired girl grunted, pulling back with all her might and managing to disorient the beast for a second. Rushing forward, Blake then shifted the weapon into it's katana form and leapt forth. Slashing into the beast's wing, she landed on one knee and looked up to see the creature roaring in pain.
Taking advantage of this, Yang activated her own weapon; a pair of ranged shot gauntlets that she called Ember Celica, and fired two Fire Dust bullets into the Grimm's side. With it weakened, Yang jumped forward and delivered a stiff punch to the creature's face.
Unfortunately, this left the brawler right in the Grimm's grasp. It glared down at her with hateful red eyes and prepared to finish the blonde. At the last second, a hammer slammed powerfully into the bird-like creature's lower back. Screaming in pain, the creature let Yang go and retreated back a few feet.
"WOO! Look at me go! I'm the Queen of the Forest, and don't you forget it!" Nora cheered, resting her hammer/grenade launcher against her shoulder and smirking widely at both her enemy and Yang.
"Thanks for the save." Yang replied, dusting herself off and turning to see the Grimm had shaken off the pain and was ready to fight once more.
Luckily for Yang and Nora, the Nevermore seemed to change targets as it soared high into the air. Cracking her neck, Yang let out a small whistle. "Dang. That thing is resilient."
"I know! It's tough too. Not many Grimm can stand up to Magnhild." Nora agreed.
"Right. Got it." Yang shrugged that comment off before turning her attention back to Blake and frowning. "I'm gonna go make sure Blake's okay. You... do what you want I guess."
While this happened, the Nevermore was analyzing the battlefield. It saw Weiss begin to try and form some sort of defensive barrier with her glyphs, and narrowed it's red eyes at the sight of the attempt. Dive-bombing the heiress, the creature slapped it's wings powerfully against the structure, causing it to burst into nothing but small crystals of ice.
Looking up fearfully, the young Schnee pulled out her rapier, Mrytenaster, and prepared for whatever might come. A bullet grazed the creature's head before it could move a muscle. It turned in time for Ruby to dash forward and grab Weiss before zipping away to somewhere safer.
Jaune sat in the tree, watching the fight as it progressed. Bullets continued to fly thanks to Ren, Ruby, Yang, and Blake while Nora, Weiss, and Pyrrha all tried to get close enough to attack without getting hurt.
Unfortunately, the Grimm was gaining the upper-hand. Everyone was being run ragged, and it was only a matter of time before someone would get seriously hurt or worse from the raven-like beast's attacks.
Not wanting that to happen, Jaune tried his hardest to come up with a plan. He then glanced down at his left wrist and saw a green glow from beneath his hoodie. Pushing up his sleeve, he stared at the watch in thought.
An idea suddenly sparked within him, one that he knew he had to try. Pushing the button and watching the faceplate pop up, Jaune began twisting and turning the dial as he searched for anything that he thought could help him.
"C'mon, c'mon, gimme something that can help." He saw a silhouette that looked helpful, and decided to take a chance. "Well, here goes nothing... Please work!"
With that, he slammed down the faceplate and was once more engulfed in a flash of emerald green light. When the flash died down, it revealed a greyish-white ghostly creature who looked to be covered by a cloak of some kind. He had one piercing green eye and the symbol of the Omnitrix was on his chest.
"Alright," Jaune took a deep, calming breath as he tried to think over his plan. Considering what this form looked like, he figured he might be able to help somehow. "Let's see just what you can do... Nightlife."
Meanwhile, the fight down below had taken a turn for the worse. The Nevermore managed to sink it's talons into Ren's left shoulder, fully intent on tearing the teenager to shreds.
Seeing this, Nightlife flew down to the creature and slipped inside of it. The Grimm paused for a second before slowly blinking and revealing emerald green eyes in place of it's crimson ones. The Grimm then removed it's talons from Ren's shoulder, startling everyone as it flew high into the air.
"Uh... what just happened?" Weiss asked, not sure if she had seen that correctly.
"I don't know," Ren admitted, wincing as he rubbed a hand against his wound. Then shaking his head, he shrugged his good shoulder. "But I do know one thing. I'm certainly glad that it happened when it did. One more second, and I'd be dead."
Nora frowned at those words. She was by her friend's side, tending to his wounds before he could even blink. Ren rolled his eyes as the orange haired girl started fussing over him. Rubbing his face, the raven haired boy simply let her do as she pleased.
Meanwhile, back up in the sky, Jaune was starting to panic. He had control of this Grimm due to possessing it, but he didn't know what to do about the creature. His eyes then caught sight of a large cliffside, and an idea formed. Slamming the Grimm head first into the structure, he watched as it began to plummet to it's death.
Nightlife then went to leave the creature before died with him still possessing it, but found he couldn't. He would have started worrying if he didn't hear a mechanical voice begin to speak.
"Unrecognized DNA sample collected. New alien form added to Codon Stream." With that, the watch timed out and forced Jaune to separate from the Grimm.
The blonde screamed in terror as he began to descend from the skies. "AHHHHHHHH!"
Luckily, his shrieks were heard by the others. They all looked around in confusion. Their eyes then widened in shock and awe as Jaune became more and more visible, the corpse of the Nevermore not far ahead of him.
Activating her semblance, Ruby sped over to where Jaune was falling and leapt after him. She tackled them both to the ground with Ruby cushioning Jaune's fall. The reaper let out a small grunt of pain as she stared up into Jaune's cerulean blue eyes. "You okay?"
"Y-yeah... Th-thank you." Jaune stammered, not sure how else to respond.
"Good." Ruby's eyes narrowed as she pushed him off of her and glared at the blonde. "Now tell me what you did to get into that situation in the first place."
"I don't know," Jaune replied honestly, unsure of what had happened. All he knew was that he had somehow helped them. "I... really can't tell you much of anything right now."
Yang arched a brow in curiosity. "Nothing at all?"
"Nope. Absolutely nothing." Jaune shook his head and sighed.
Ruby frowned at those words, knowing the others would become suspicious and try to figure something out that they probably shouldn't know just yet. Needing a cover, she quickly spoke up. "He's probably just dazed from the fall."
Jaune glanced at her, tilting his head in confusion before catching on to what she was trying to do. He then asked in a dazed voice. "Wait, I fell? Cool! Let's go again!"
The others all shrugged it off. It couldn't have been that important if Jaune claimed he couldn't even remember. They all shared a look, deciding to drop it for the time being. After all, they had to worry about the more important task at hand; finishing their Initiation.
However, one of them wasn't so willing to drop it. Blake's amber eyes narrowed into slits as she stared down the blonde knight. She wouldn't say anything for the time being, but she was definitely interested in what had happened during that battle. Thinking he may be hiding something, the raven haired girl resolved to ask next time she got the chance.
With that all taken care of for the time being, the group of eight quickly rushed off toward Beacon. They all hoped to avoid more Grimm attacks, and were lucky enough to make it back to Beacon in one piece after everything they had endured during Initiation.
Later, After the Introductory Ceremony:
Jaune was walking toward the cafeteria for dinner when a hand grabbed him from behind. Turning to face his mystery attacker, the blonde knight was surprised to see Professor Ozpin standing before him.
"A moment of your time, Mr. Arc." The Headmaster then pulled the young Arc aside and rolled up the sleeve of his hoodie. The white haired man took a deep breath and exhaled. "Just as I thought. Though I had hoped the cameras were lying."
Jaune blinked. "What? What are you talking about?"
Capturing the blonde in his harsh gaze, Ozpin quickly silenced any questions before letting go of his shoulder. "We can discuss this elsewhere Mr. Arc. If you'd please, I need to see you in my office immediately."
"Yes, sir." Jaune bowed his head in shame, feeling terrible for getting into trouble before his first day of classes.
The duo took the long trek to Ozpin's office in complete silence. Once they arrived, Jaune gave the Headmaster a pleading look and tried to beg his case. "Please don't expel me! I promise it was an accident that I even found this watch!"
"Calm yourself, Mr. Arc, I am not going to expel you." Ozpin paused for a second as the ghost of a smirk appeared across his face. "Although, if I wanted to do so, then those transcripts of yours would be plenty reason enough."
Jaune blanched. "Y-you know?"
The Headmaster rolled his eyes at that question. "Of course I know. Not very hard to sniff out a fake, you know. Though if you wanted to evade detection, then perhaps you shouldn't have asked your sister for help. After all, she was one of the more promising girls of her class here."
"Oh..." Jaune sighed, feeling stupid for not thinking about the fact that Saffron had also gone to Beacon Academy while she had been training to become a Huntress. Suddenly, something occurred to the blonde. "Wait a second... If you're not going to expel me, then what are you going to do?"
"Something far, far worse." Ozpin assured with a harsh look on his face. Taking a sip from his coffee, he began to explain himself. "You will meet with me on this day every week for the rest of your time at Beacon. You will arrive at my office at 6 PM sharp and you will train until curfew."
Jaune was stunned. The Headmaster was going to train him? That was definitely not what the young Arc had been expecting. "You... you're really going to train me?"
"Indeed."
"But why? Not that I'm complaining, but why?" Jaune was confused. What gain could Ozpin possibly have in training him? It didn't make any sense to the blonde. Seeing this, Ozpin cleared his throat and spoke once more.
"It's quite simple Mr. Arc; with that watch you will need all the help that you can realistically get. After all, it is now your burden to bear." He then glared at the young man sternly, placing down his mug and leaning forward. "Make sure no one knows of this!"
"Um... sir?"
"Who is it?" Ozpin asked in exasperation, rubbing his temples to nurse an oncoming headache.
"Ru-Ruby Rose." Jaune wasn't sure if he should have roped his friend into the conversation like this, but he really had no choice. If he wasn't honest with Ozpin, then he might get expelled from Beacon, and Jaune really did not want that to happen.
Ozpin sighed heavily, muttering to himself about damage control or something along those lines. Shaking his head, the white haired man spoke. "Very well then, I shall have to 'invite' her to our little training sessions. I shall also inform her not to tell anyone of the Omnitrix."
Jaune blinked in confusion, hearing that word for the first time and having no idea what it meant. "Omnitrix?"
In response, Ozpin simply pointed to the blonde knight's left arm. "That, Mr. Arc."
"I-I see." Jaune nodded, making a mental note to remember that name.
"Good. Now then, be off to dinner." Ozpin waved the young Arc off, clearly finished with this conversation for the time being. He paused for a second before adding. "I shall see you here next Friday Mr. Arc."
"You will," Jaune nodded reassuringly, not wanting to risk angering the Headmaster. When he was sure that Ozpin was truly finished with him, the blonde then ran off to the cafeteria.
At Dinner:
The first thing Jaune did when arrived at the cafeteria was pull Ruby aside to talk. He hesitated for a second before telling her. "Ruby...you're either gonna love me or hate me for this, but I think I just got us training from Ozpin."
"You what?" She asked, hiding any emotion from her voice as she stared at him with an unreadable look on her normally cheerful face.
"I got us training with Ozpin. He knew about that watch, and it turns out it's some sort of big secret. He wants us to not tell anyone, and as part of the deal he said he was going to train us." Jaune explained, hoping that the reaper wouldn't be too upset about all this.
In response, Ruby surprised the blonde with a hard slap to the cheek. Just as he was about to complain about her sudden attack, Ruby surprised him again with a kiss to the opposite cheek. Snorting in amusement at the confused look on his face, Ruby simply stated. "Like you said Arc, I either love you or hate you right now."
Almost immediately after saying that, the red/black haired girl covered her mouth, her cheeks ablaze with embarrassment. "Don't read too far into that!"
Jaune chuckled understandingly. "I know what ya meant." He then turned away and muttered under his breath. "Though I kind of wish ya meant it the other way."
"What was that Jaune?"
"Nothing!" Jaune's head snapped back to face Ruby, seeing the curious look on her face. Realizing she hadn't heard him, Jaune swept his brow and let out a silent breath of relief.
Ruby shrugged off her friend's odd behavior and turned back toward their table. "Whatever. Let's just finish eating."
"R-right." The duo walked back to their table, Jaune with a thoughtful look on his face. A horrified look then crossed his face as he realized something.
"Wait a second! I can't survive training with Professor Ozpin! What kind of mess have I gotten myself into?!"
As if to answer his question, the Omnitrix's greenish glow became noticeable once more. Scowling, Jaune quickly hid it again and muttered. "This stupid watch... How do I keep getting into these situations?"
Ruby looked at him in confusion. "How can you not be excited about this? You're going to train under one of the best in Remnant."
"Yeah, well, that's easy for you to say." Jaune replied with a sigh. "But... I'm not like everyone else."
He immediately regretted those words. Because the second he said them, he realized that Ruby would want to know what he was talking about. And even if Ozpin knew about his transcripts, he didn't want the whole school knowing. Luckily, it was still just him and Ruby for the moment.
As he suspected, Ruby's confused expression grew as she tried to figure out what he was talking about. "Okay... What's so different about you? You made it to Beacon like the rest of us, right? I mean, it's not like you faked your way in." She laughed at the thought, not thinking anyone could possibly achieve that.
"Ha ha, yeah... faking my way in is real funny." Jaune replied with a bit too much sarcastically for his liking. He ran a hand through his hair in frustration. 'Just be cool, Arc. Play it cool and she won't expect a thing. If I'm lucky, she'll just drop it.'
Unfortunately for him, that apparently wasn't going to happen. Ruby noticed how pale he had gotten over the course of this conversation alongside how nervous he suddenly was. Her eyes widened as she let out a small gasp. "Oh my Oum! You actually did it, didn't you?! How? When? Tell me everything! I need to know!"
Jaune let out a small groan. 'This is going to be a long night to end what was already a really long day, isn't it?' He asked himself as he saw the excited, hopeful look on Ruby's face as she expectantly waited for him to tell his story.
