Intro
A young man can find himself so lost in his quest, combat with blades, traveling, hunting, and looking over his shoulder, in which, he eventually forgets something valuable and becomes tired. It can be his friends, family, a lover, or even his own will to live. The same can go for a young woman who finds herself fatigued by fury, scuffles, planning, and frequent battles. Her line of duty not only puts her life on the line, but the lives of others. Both of which are committed to their duties and fully drained by them. It may be the sense of honor that keeps them going, their discipline, or the great desire to put an end to their own separate agony.
In the great land of Hyrule, filled with beautiful grasslands, huge mountains, amazing lakes, and an endless desert. Aside from the beauty, wars have scarred and left an unspoken bloody history that will make the royal family quiver with fear. Heroes have risen and fallen, came and left, settled, and abandoned, but one. One hero, one legend, one knight, although very weary, stands ready and faces the dangers of the land. This hero has fought countlessly and defeated the impossible with strength, skill, resilience, and intelligence alone with a price. He may be the wielder of the great symbol of Courage, he is not immune to his own limits. His name is Link and as he is now, the fight of his own life has been internal and external. He knows if he stops, the land he calls home and himself will both perish, but what of his own burdens?
While the land of Hyrule is full of ordeals for the common traveler, Link faces his own. He spent his recent days adapting to the environment to either evade, trap, or ambush his hunters. His hunters, the Yiga Clan, has been hot on his trail after his recent battle with their new leader, who happens to be deceased. The dead leader saw to it to rely on his contingency plan after his defeat. The plan involved cursing Link to make it nearly impossible to hide from nearby or far away Yiga clan members. The mark is a dark handprint on Link's upper right back, and it glows as clan members are close. Not only does it give off his location, but once he's engaged with or spotted by an assassin, the curse attempts to immobilize him by cramping his leg muscles or uses an unseen force to press him down to the ground. However, given that the curse is of Sheikah origin, his training has allowed him to exploit the cursed mark's limits by blending in as if he is that of the Sheikah or Yiga.
How long has he been on the run and how close is he to achieving his goal?
In another dimension, the galaxy is the main terrain that one may never set foot in, but submerge deep within its uncharted depths. However, the journey alone would be reckless in a small spaceship. Small ships don't last too long if the travels are far or they're underequipped to handle marauders, asteroids, or alien ambushes. A large-scale spaceship, on the other hand, can very well survive several blasts or hits from asteroids. A spaceship large enough to carry a variety of space crafts ranging from small supply runners, mid-sized fighters, large scale fighters called Dreads, and a giant humanoid mech labeled The Vanguard. With a name such as Nirvana for a giant spaceship, many marauders will think four times before attempting a raid.
The Dreads are operated by female pilots all as named: Dita for the blue "Dread Dita", Jura for the Red "Dread Jura", Meia for the silver "Dread Meia", and Barnette for the purple "Dread Barnette". While they have their own philosophies and way of living, they all share a background as Mejere pirates with a long history of raiding Taraak settlements and military ships. Although they're training is a mystery as the raids they committed were always successful, but never without shedding blood of Taraaku men.
Barnette is amongst many of the Nirvana's crew that grows increasingly weary and restless as the crew have recently began having frequent battles with their hunters called The Harvesters. It's as if after each battle, the next attack gets more difficult and sudden. It has gotten so bad that the Nirvana has sent out distress calls to fleets, but it has yield to little assistance.
Hyrule… 6 AM
"Lord Ganon shall rise once more!" These strong words awaken Link. As he sits up slowly, he grabs a piece of wood and chunks it into the barely lit campfire. Taking in his surroundings, the small cave he took refuge in begins to drip water next to the entrance. If the rain didn't start now, it's soon to fall. With this little head start, Link stretches and gulps his cold unfinished soup, before gathering his equipment.
Link slowly observes the outside of the cave from the corner of the entrance. With the coast being clear, he throws on his hood and with the glider in his grasp, he leaps from the cave into the deep forest below. It was only a matter of time before the rain landed, so Link dives down into one of the many trees. With the oncoming rain, leaves, and shadows, the Hylian is perfectly concealed from even trained eyes from below….. Unless he makes movements or sounds that will give him away. Keeping in mind that each branch with it's leaves will release water to the ground once landed upon, so Link uses his Sheikah tablet to freeze the branches in time to carefully conceal himself. Once he finds his footing, Link begins to leap from branch to branch.
Nirvana…. 6 AM
Tossing and turning in her dark room, Barnette tightly grabs her sheets. "AH!... Oh…." Barnette awakens from what appears to have been a nightmare. Taking a few minutes to gather herself with deep breaths, she sits up to look to slowly leans against the window. "I really need to… I need more sleep…" dropping back down to her pillow, she looks into the deep void of space just before closing her eyes.
Just as soon as she drifts off to sleep, she's awaken by a loud bang and the flash of a light. A hulking woman stands over her and grabs her. "HEY! Would you get up! Ship's supplies are getting low! I need you at your post NOW!" Barnette is dragged out of bed and down to the armory of the ship.
Barnette: What's the big idea Gascogne?! *Pulling away*
Gascogne: Girl look around you! I'm just as tired as you are, but we have to work like crazy to keep it together! Now suit up!
Barnette: No way! My shift doesn't start until 10 AM! *Turns to leave the armory* If you want to fall apart, then do it on your own time!
Gascogne: It's the boss' orders and you can't leave out of her in that little gown of yours's.
Barnette looks down and is petrified that she is hardly dressed. Realizing the pressure Gascogne placed on her, Barnette angrily puts on her usual attire for combat. Not only is she angry about the lack of sleep, but she attended to her hygienic needs.
Gascogne: The sooner we get there and out, the sooner you can pretty up. Now come on!
Barnette: Whatever… Who else is taking part in this run? *Fastens her gun belt to her waist.*
Gascogne: You, I, and three others. I'll give you the heads up you in the elevator.. Oh, before I forget, you're not using your dread.
Barnette: What!
Gascogne: The last skirmish compromised your hull. You didn't forget that..
Barnette stubbornly scoffs at the statement, but she's very aware of the state of the Dread. Chances of her returning after take off is slim if she were to be caught in the crosshairs of a harvester or marauder. "Let's hurry up and get it over with…."
Hyrule… 12 PM
Scurrying around below Link are the Yiga that are hot on his trail. Along with them are Black and white Lizalfos armed with bows and electric arrows. To his advantage, the heavy rain dampens any noise made from his traverse amongst the branches. He still must tread carefully as the Lizalfos have sensitive hearing. He slowly checks his Sheikah Slate and heads northeast.
"I can feel him. He's near us, but won't be out of sight for long." The Yiga assassins cut away at every bush and other vegetation, capable of concealing a whole man of Link's size. They begin to spread out with two Lizalfos with them. As the search continues, one of the swordmasters remove his mask and yells in frustration. "Argh! We should just set this forest ablaze!" Other Yiga quickly gather around him and look towards one another. One of them nodded their head, as others began to agree. The unmasked Yiga raises is blade high and swings it the grass. The moment the sword connected, fire began to emerge untamed by the rain. "Quickly! Away from the flame!"
Link reaches the middle of the forest and notices the bluff that's almost half a mile long. He smiles with relief and checks his slate. Just as he pulls out his slate, he hears loud crackling and collapsing trees. As he looks over his shoulder, he is shocked by the sight of the fast spreading fire that engulfs the forest. He leaps from tree to tree to escape the flames and leaps near the bluff. Just as he safely lands, his legs instantly cramp, causing him to collapses hard to the ground. Just then, he notices that the Yiga Clan has their eyes on him.
"You may have killed our second leader, but this he saw to it to make the hunt easier by branding you." The unmasked Yiga presses his foot onto Link's back and sword on the back of his head. "Never have I seen such a man fight an even fiercer man with just his wit and skill alone. I commend you for your efforts on out smarting us, but it ends today." Just as he pulls his sword away to thrust, Link snaps his finger…. *BAM* a bolt of lightning strikes and paralyzes every surrounding threat. Link, while in agony, pulls himself to the edge of the bluff and plummets into the abyss to escape his assassins. The sword master, after shaking off the paralysis, lunges forward and attempts to grab the Hylian, but misses by a few inches. "CURSES!"
Unknown Moon….. 11 Am
"Better drink up. That tea is almost cold…" Gascogne nudges Barnette before she finishes her own drink. Her thoughts keeping her too occupied to even sip from her own cup, Barnette just stares at the fading steam. "You had many close calls before, especially on foot… You probably know what's gonna happen.."
Barnette: I do.
Gascogne: Oh lighten up!
Barnette: Easy for you to say. I'm gonna be stuck in drills until I'm able to fly again.
Gascogne: It's not the first time. First you were clumsy..
Barnette: Hey..
Gascogne: Second, you defied orders.
Barnette: HEY…
Gascogne: This time you took a blow for a comrade.
Barnette drops silent and clenches her fists. Gascogne comforts her with a hand on the shoulder. "If it wasn't for that, we'd definitely lose Meia…. Look at the time, I'd better get back before they put in orders without my say so." Barnette sits on the bench alone and once again gazes off into the void of space.
Hyrule…. 6 PM
Link slowly awakens to feeling the cool sensation of water running along his side. Taking in his surroundings, Link notices how dark the sky is… He's been unconscious for quite some time, but unaware of how.
As soon as he sits up, he feels an extremely sharp pain in his right arm. Right back into the stream where he lied and pulls himself out of the shallow water. Guiding himself on top of the sharp rocks, he finally emerges from the water, but with a more ruined tunic.
Link slowly stands up and leans against the rocky wall of the chasm. As he gets his bearings, a cold breeze presses against his back. It's only a matter of time before the clan descends upon him from rocky chasm above him. Gathering what's left of his endurance, he presses on to what seems to be an eternity of pain for the nightfall. His next stop is Kakariko village.
12 AM
"Hmmmm I see… They still haunt you after all this time…. You'll be safe here, but first we have to tend to your wounds." The elderly Impa closes her eyes in concern for Link as he is aided by two other shiekah. Unfortunately for Link, his garments were too blood-soaked and stained for him to wear again, the two undress him and get to work immediately. What follows are grunts of great discomfort as the deep wounds treated.
Within an hour, the treatment process was done and the tall shiekah wipes his forehead. He looks down at Link and notices the how his sword arm appeared slightly disfigured. "Ahem… Master Link… You've taken a great fall haven't you? It was our mistake that we looked over your broken arm sir. We have to put that in a cast right now to mend the bones." The news didn't seem to phase Link one bit… He just nods his head in agreeance.
2 AM
Link is sound asleep in a makeshift room just for him. Campfires are nice to rest by, but nothing can truly beat a bed with skilled protectors to watch your back.
