Vespertilian: adj. like a bat
London said nothing about the man and son in the tunnel other than it was important they return to England with their strategic intelligence reports soon. Hogan and his men liked them well enough, but the man seemed to expect a butler, and the son climbed on everything.
"Holy tree trunks!" the son exclaimed as they welcomed him. "Holy wireless! Holy bunk beds!"
"Schultz is coming," Olsen said from the door the next day.
"To the tunnel!" the man shouted, and his son followed his lead.
Say what you want about espionage skills, that Bruce Wayne was a strange chap.
Author's Note: in chapter 5 of my story Abecedarian, I strongly implied that Batman and Robin once visited Stalag XIII as their civilian selves, so when I saw the word, I couldn't resist. This one also happens to be my personal favorite.
