A/N: I was suddenly inspired to write a fanfic where a Lebanese witch attends Hogwarts because I haven't read any with a good representation and I just love the idea of mixing my own culture and ethnicity.
Just to clarify for the people who need it, Lebanese people are Arabs. Not specifically muslims. There are Lebanese muslims, christians and so many more. My OC Amani Haddad is neither, she is a Lebanese witch who grew up celebrating Samhain and Yule. She follows the same religion as the majority of the magical population, Wicca AKA Pagan witchcraft which J.K Rowling has mentioned is the religion followed by most in the magical world. Just wanted to clarify this before people comment about religion or what a muslim/christian should be following/how they should be practicing their religion.
Chapter One
The early morning sun transgressed through the arched windows, basking the transfiguration classroom in a soft golden glow, a stark contrast against the sharpness of the azure blue sky. Not a cloud was in sight and the only sound other than the scratching of quills against parchment that could be heard were the chirping of the native crossbill birds.
Pausing in his note-taking to crack his fingers and give his hand a break from writing, Sirius Black leaned back in his chair to take a look around the brightly lit classroom. It was a rare occurrence for the class to be so silent and obedient in completing their work, especially when the likes of the Marauders attended but the atmosphere of a Friday morning just made people eager to put up with whatever they were told to do in order to finish class and enjoy the ensuing days off.
Sirius himself had been feeling rather mellow for the past week out of sheer boredom. It was long overdue that he and James were to pull a prank as the twit had blown him off to study for his OWLs. Of course, Sirius had gone along with him a few times but his best friend was turning into a nerd, for Merlins sake! To make it worse, Remus seemed to want to take advantage of his friends change in attitude for as long as it lasted and went along with him to the library every time. Peter just followed the majority, leaving Sirius the tragic ultimatum.
To study with the Marauders or be on his lonesome?
Yet, he was never really alone, was he? He'd kept himself busy of course. While his so called "friends" traipsed around the library like the goody-two shoes they'd suddenly turned into, Sirius had decided to break the world record of how many conquests he could manage in a week. So far, it was going stellar and he'd found himself sneaking out of the Gryffindor tower every night with a different girl, and sneaking back in the morning with a different girl.
Just recalling his memories of the previous night his eyebrows automatically began wiggling suggestively. At what? The air, he didn't know it was just a thing they did when his mind thought of such scandalous thoughts. He'd already been with almost every girl in Hogwarts in the past few years and as the week was coming to an end, he thought of which lucky girl he was going to approach today.
There were only a few girls he refused to chat up, Evans was at the top of his list followed by Macy Fernwood in Ravenclaw because she picked her nose and farted publicly. Such a turn off for a man as divine as himself. There were some other unimportant bints that had found themselves on his list of 'Don't Shag' , many a Slytherin. Except for that one seventh year last year, she was cracking so Sirius had allowed himself an exception.
Yes, it was obvious that many women just couldn't resist him, yet, as he looked around the room, he caught himself staring at one particular girl that could, in fact, resist him. Amani Haddad. A gorgeous bird, friends with Evan and foreign. Just the idea of a foreign woman excited him. He'd noticed her plenty of times and many times tried to chat her up. She just made herself so unattainable that most guys just gave up on pursuing her.
It was widely known that Amani didn't date. It was one of her rules or whatever. Her family was against it and so was she. So Sirius had tried in the past, he'd put on his seductive voice, had tried to charm her but the girl was stubborn and he gave up. Goody-two shoes just didn't appeal to him and Haddad was exactly that. She was always wearing loose clothes so there wasn't much to look at and she was too nice.
Sirius didn't like nice girls. He liked mean, sexy girls. The kind that went behind their parents back, snuck out and got up to mischief.
He merely observed as she stopped writing to the tuck her hair behind her ear and crack her neck. As she leaned her head to the left, Sirius noticed a previously hidden mark and found himself grinning. So it appeared that the oh so stubborn, "My parent's don't let me date" girl had finally relented and allowed some lad to give her a hickey, or perhaps a secret boyfriend? His mind wandered dangerously and he found himself excited. Haddad was on his agenda tonight.
"I expect your assignments to be completed and handed in by Monday class, where I will be assigning you in pairs for the upcoming project." Announced Professor McGonagall before she dismissed them.
Ah, just Divination to go, Sirius sighed as he followed Remus out. "That was brutal," he moaned.
"I enjoyed class today," Remus commented.
"Well I didn't. It was boring."
"Yeah, I didn't understand the work," piped Peter.
"I'll help you with it after Ancient Runes," Remus said with an encouraging pat on the back.
James didn't seem to be paying attention to their little conversation, his eyes trained on something just ahead. Or someone, it seemed.
"Have you ever seen such a beauty?" He sighed, in exaggeration. "Evans! I must say, t'was not expecting to be bewitched by your inhumanely stunning looks." The crowds watched James in amusement. It was a widely known fact that James Potter had been chasing Lily Evans since first year and she'd not given him so much as a glance. In fact she made the effort to ignore him as much as she could when she wasn't shouting at hime for being a toe-rag.
As James professed his love for the tenth time this week as loudly as he could, Amani looked once over her shoulder at James and then whispered something into Evan's ear and they both giggled.
"You woe me, my love!" James cried in despair, but the grin on his face said otherwise. Remus only blushed but stayed quiet.
Sirius just stared at the black haired beauty standing next to his best friend's crush. The hickey he'd noticed earlier was covered with her thick, long hair. In fact, Sirius found it odd that she had her down all over her face rather than tied up in a ponytail as she always did. She was definitely trying to hide it.
"Hey Moony, Haddad's got Ancient Runes with you, doesn't she?"
"She does, why?"
"I was just curious," The smirk on Sirius's face caused Remus to raise an eyebrow.
"You're not going to try and shag her, are you?"
"Of course I am. What do you take me for Moony old pal?"
James was finally paying attention. He snorted. "Good luck with that Pads, she already rejected you like three time in the past two years. Besides, I think Remus would be a good match for her. They're both nice, respectable and all that nonsense."
Remus shook his head and laughed. "I think you're both forgetting that the girl hasn't dated a single lad since she stepped foot in this castle."
"Actually.." Sirius said, "Guess what I saw today?" He edged in close to his pals. "Little miss prude had a hickey and she was covering it up. Looks like she's not so innocent after all. Think she has a secret boyfriend or something?"
"No way." Remus commented, rather confident.
"How would you know?" Sirius frowned. "You sound awfully sure of yourself, hiding something Moony?"
"Maybe he's the secret boyfriend." Joked Peter.
The trio laughed as Remus pinched the bridge of his nose. "Trust me, she doesn't have a boyfriend." Without another word, he split with the group to go to his Ancient Runes class while the others headed up to Divination.
