RISE OF THE OCTOPUS
You know they say that you can only push somebody so far before they decide to start pushing back at some point. How much can someone lose before they snap? Their family, their home, their dreams? At a certain point they stop blaming themselves for what was robbed of them and start blaming the cruel hideous world that cursed them at the moment of their birth. What evil, what madness could they be capable of? What sort of villain to society would they become?
"Yeah I'll take the fried fish sandwich, no pickles, extra sauce." A figure draped in a dark green cloak, torn and dirty from use, stood outside the local fast food joint, in the middle of the drive-through lane. Without being in a car mind you. "Onion rings on the side, and a large coke please." He spoke into the microphone.
"Sir you know you can come inside and order." The drive through worker tried to say.
"I've got a social anxiety disorder." The hooded person explained sternly. "I don't like being around other people. Also in case you haven't figured out by my poorly thrown together rags that I'm wearing, I happen to be homeless." He started emphasizing his words for effect. "So if I can't afford a place to live, how in god's green earth could afford a friggin car?"
"I-I-I'm sorry." The clerk apologized through the speaker. "P-Please come around to the window.
"Thank you." The cloaked figure smiled underneath his hood. Once he walked over to the window the part timer working the drive-through could finally get a good look at this person. He couldn't make out any distinguishing features or see his face. The most he could see was his smiling mouth.
"How much do I owe you?" He sounded young, like a teenage boy. The mysterious figure pulled out a plastic cup filled with change and a few bills that he most likely got panhandling on the street. Their transaction was suddenly interrupted by a rather portly man in the car behind, rudely honking his horn over and over again.
"Hey! Go inside and order you bum!" The man shouted, still blasting his horn. The hooded boy took a deep breath, still smiling.
"Excuse me for a second." He turned from the fast food worker and faced the rude honker behind him. Suddenly a mechanical tentacle ending in a metal robotic claw, rapidly extend out from underneath his cloak. It punched a hole straight through the windshield and slammed into the man's chubby face, knocking him out cold. The boy's smile never left his lips the whole time as this arm retracted back into his cloak. "Now where were we?" They were interrupted yet again when the man that this homeless kid just knocked out fell face first onto his steering wheel, pressing down on the horn, making one loud obnoxious noise.
"Oh for god's sakes." The robotic armed extended back out, this time tearing through the hood of the car and ripping something out of the engine that stopped the horn. "That's better." He said as the arm retreated back into his hiding spot beneath his cloak.
"Uhhh!" The man in the drive-through stared wide eyed at the assault he just witnessed. He managed to regain a bit of his composure and give the boy the price of his order before something terrible happened again. The boy nodded and poured out the money in his cup on the window counter.
"I think that should be enough." The homeless boy kept smiling as he waited patiently for the guy to count the money with his shaking hands.
"Um. Your ten cents shorts." The fast food worker stuttered in fear.
"Excuse me?" The boy asked, his smile beginning to disintegrate.
"Y-Your ten cents short." He said again.
"I don't have any more change. Can't you make an exception?" The hooded teen tried to regain his happy face.
"I can't do that. I'll get in trouble with my manager." The cashier in the window tried to explain reasonably. He could see the boy's smile immediately drop into a disdainful scowl.
"I get the distinct impression that you're going to be difficult."
FIVE MINUTES LATER
"Jerk." The boy said with a mouthful of his fried fish sandwich as he walked into the nearest alley. Behind him the fast food restaurant was in a panic. Customers and employees were screaming. The drive-through window was completely destroyed and the neon sign held up by a thick metal pole was broken in half. The sign having crashed into the side of the building, bifurcating a wall.
"Over ten damn cents?" He said as he proceeded to wolf down his meal. It had been three days since he'd last eaten and he was starving. He ate as he travelled moving through the dark alleys, so as to not be seen by people, or heroes. Once he was a good safe distance away from the restaurant he attacked he found himself a nice cozy spot on the roof of an abandoned three story office building in the seedier part of town.
Pulling his hood back he revealed messy dark green hair that went past his shoulders. From underneath his cloak he removed a dirty back pack. Unzipping his bag he removed the homemade laptop computer that he built. Opening it up he hacked into a nearby Wi-Fi signal and accessed the news. Curious of today's current events.
So far, nothing important. The media was still talking about that attack on U.A that happened recently. Not that he gave a damn. Just another villain organization who thought they could do the impossible. A bunch of idiots if you asked him. Speaking of U.A it looked like they were going through with the sports festival after all. The kid scoffed at that. A big show where all the students displayed their oh so wonderful quirks. What he never understood about the sports festival was why they made the other classes participate. The top three winners were always from the hero class, so what was the point of putting everyone else through the humiliation of thinking they had a shot.
'Assholes.' The green haired homeless boy spat in disgust. The bias system these hero schools propagated made him sick to his stomach. Or maybe that was the greasy fish sandwich coming back up. The mechanical tentacle extended from underneath his cloak again, reached into his open bag and removed the water bottle he kept there. The robotic arm handed him the bottle and the boy took a big greedy gulp.
Skimming through the news he looked for anything pertaining to him and his exploits. Underneath all the League of Villains bull crap was a small article titled "The Green Octopus, Still At Large".
"It's just Octopus!" The boy screamed at the computer. "Idiots!" He hated that first part of his villain name. However he hated the fact that he was just mere foot note in today's media. He deserved better than that. At the very least he deserved to be pursued by a top hero rather than the police and these low level flunkies. They still think that his mechanical arms are part of his quirk. The morons that inhabited this society also made him sick.
People with quirks get all the attention and opportunities in his world. How he hated that inescapable truth. The minority of quirkless like himself get nothing. They were the bottom of the barrel. The low men on the totem pole. Practically invisible in this world of freaks.
The boy took some tools out of his bags and started making a few minor repairs on his robotic tentacle. Something he normally did to get his mind off these things that upset him. This time it wasn't working. His tools were worn down and practically useless. On top of that he ran out of parts a week ago. He tried the scrap yard once, but he couldn't find anything remotely close to what he needed to keep his arms in perfect working order. In a week his beautiful invention would probably start to degrade fall apart from overuse. Without them he'd be easy pickens for any low ranked hero. He'd be lucky if he'd get arrested before some lowlife took him out and collected the bounty on his head.
"There's no future for me is there." The green haired boy whispered to himself. He thought back to that U.A sports festival happening in a few days. "If this is the end then I'm going down on my terms." He smirked as an idea started forming in his head.
TWO DAYS LATER
"That concludes this annual U.A sports festival!" All Might's loud booming voice declared. "Another round of applause for our three winners everybody!" The audience cheered loudly. The three finalists hopped off the podium and rejoined their fellow classmates. First was Tokoyami with the bronze medal. Then Shoto Todoroki with the silver draped over his neck, sporting an apathetic look on his face. Last was Katsuki Bakugou, wearing the gold medal. He had an overly proud grin on full display. Why wouldn't he after declaring that he would come in first to all the extras? Of course he won. That's what heroes do. Passing by a red haired boy whose name he didn't care to remember, he shrugged off his praise and went ahead to the break room along with everyone else.
OUTSIDE-30 MINUTES LATER
"Alright little listeners! Back to school we go!" Present Mic said with enthusiasm from behind the wheel of the bus. Ever since the U.S.J attack the security had been beefed up. A teacher was required to be driving each bus back to campus. Aizawa would have been here with Class 1-A's bus, but he was still recovering from the severe injuries he got during that encounter with the League of Villains. Starting the engine, Mic followed behind the convoy of other buses. The roads between the stadium and the school were blocked off and several pro heroes patrolled the area to ensure the safety of the students. The hero turned on the radio and started jamming out to the music while the students talked behind them in their seats. Totally and completely unaware of the disaster that awaited.
After a few minutes of travel when they were far enough away from the stadium, something unexpected happened. Several yards ahead of them a manhole cover suddenly flew open. Out of the sewer a small green cloaked figure rose up like a serpent. The unknown person slowly walked towards the oncoming bus with purpose and confidence. Present Mic saw him and slammed on the breaks before he hit this guy.
The cloak was immediately torn off, revealing a skinny kid dressed in a green tight jumpsuit with black padding around the knees, shoulders and elbows and black fingerless goves. His face was hidden by a homemade gas mask, with green tinted goggles and several rubber tubes dangling from the mouth area. His shaggy green hair spilled out the back of this mask. However the most striking feature of this bystander was the four mechanical tentacle-like arms attached to his back and each ending in metal robotic claws. The kid's arms grabbed the front of the bus and lifted it straight up into the air with absurd strength and throwing it several yards down the road. The vehicle violently tumbled, coming to land on the pavement upside down. Windows shattered, metal dented, and engine smoking.
"What happened?" Momo struggled to get up. All the students were tossed around. Many of them were injured.
"Did we get into an accident?" Kirishima turned his quirk off. He instinctively activated it when the bus suddenly flipped.
"Are we under attack?" Mineta panicked. "Is it the villains again!?" Before they could figure out what was going on they heard a loud stomping sound coming from the road outside. Followed by another, then another. From the angle through the shattered windows they could see what was making that noise. Four mechanical arms walking around the downed vehicle like a predator circling its prey. It suddenly stopped and a pair of dirty black boots touched down between these arms. The students gasped as a claw punched its way through the metal, followed by two more tearing the side of the bus open as if it was tin foil. Standing in the gaping hole was the same jump suited, masked individual that Present Mic spotted. Speaking of whom the man was hanging upside down still buckled to his driver's seat, struggling to get free and save the students from this surprise attack.
"Hello!" The villain greeted them pleasantly. "Sorry for the whole flipping your car like an omelet." He chuckled darkly. His head turned spotting Katsuki Bakugou struggling to get up. One of his robotic tentacles rapidly reached out, wrapping around his torso and pulled him towards the villain.
"Hey!" Bakugou snarled and thrashed in his grip. Before he could use his quirk and blast the guy, the skinny villain pulled out a pistol and pressed it to the side of the blonde's head.
"Yeah I don't think so." The villain said with mirth in his voice. "Go ahead! Try and save him!" He shouted to the other students while pressing the barrel harder against the other boy's skull. "See what happens!" He chuckled darkly. "Now I'm going to be borrowing your gold medalist for a bit, but I'll give you a good substitute." One of the arms dropped a backpack into the bus, metal pincers unzipping it to reveal an active bomb. "Have fun!" The villain laughed as he took the captured Bakugou away.
"Everyone remain calm!" Present Mic tried to placate. He then noticed the timer on the bomb started to count down. "Change of plans! Everyone off the bus! NOW!" Ripping himself out of the seat as the kids started to scramble to get out of the upside down bus. The least injured students along with the teacher helped get the unconscious and more severely injured off and safely away from the vehicle.
"Where'd the villain go!? Where'd he take Bakugou!?" Mic shouted doing a quick head count.
"Sir! He went that way!" Mina pointed at the nearby alley. Suddenly a bunch of green confetti exploded out of the downed bus, revealing that it was just a trick.
"Dammit!" The pro hero cursed. Suddenly the imposing and magnificent form of All Might landed in front of them.
"I am here!" The number one hero smiled. "What happened?" He questioned. Before Present Mic could explain the situation Kirishima blurted out.
"A villain showed up and flipped the bus. He had these weird tentacles and he took Bakugou hostage!" The red head explained in one breath.
"Calm down. Everything will be alright." He tried to assure them. "Which way did the villain go?" Mina pointed him in the right direction and just as quickly as he arrived he leaped into the air after them. Allmight followed the trail of claw shaped indentions until it lead to another man hole cover. "Oh great this again." The hero lamented at having to chase another villain through a sewer.
SOME TIME LATER
"Here we are!" The tentacle villain exclaimed as he and his hostage arrived at a playground for children. "I wanted to take us to a very specific playground, but that's too far to go." Bakugou just silently glared at him. "Why so silent? Oh! The gun!" The villain's robotic appendage threw Katsuki to the ground releasing him. "Will you relax it's just a toy!" He pulled the trigger and a series of bubbles shot out the end of the barrel.
"Who the hell are you!?" Bakugou snarled as he jumped up ready to attack.
"I know it's been a while, but I thought for sure you would at least recognize my voice." The villain said with mock hurt. "Maybe the mask is the problem." Reaching up he pulled the bottom half of his mask down, ripping the tubes before tearing it off and tossing it away. He then slid his goggles up to his forehead revealing his unobstructed freckled face.
"Deku?" There stood Bakugou's childhood friend and former bully victim that vanished nearly a year ago.
"Hello Kacchan!" Izuku smiled widely, his robotic tentacles thrashing around him in excitement. "Happy to see me?"
"What the hell is this!?" The blonde shouted. "You're a fucking villain!?"
"You bet your ass." Izuku laughed. "And as a villain no one will begrudge me in getting a little delicious well deserved revenge." He said while licking his lips. "I hope you don't disappoint golden boy. It would be quite humiliating for the winner of the sports festival to be beaten by a quirkless villain, now wouldn't it?" Slipping his goggles back on he grinned as his clawed tentacles reared up, ready to attack.
"You fucking nerd I'll…" He didn't get to finish sentence as one of the four claws rapidly extended out aiming for his head, forcing him to duck.
"Sorry, not time for foreplay! Let's just skip to the good stuff!" Izuku charged at him while laughing excitedly. "I've waited so long for this moment!" Bakugou fired an explosion at the metal arm, knocking it away. The green haired villain attacked him with the other three in retaliation.
"Die!" Katsuki shouted as he blasted them. He tried to attack Izuku, but his mechanical arms launched him out of the way.
"Nice try blondie!" One of his claws whipped Bakugou in the stomach knocking him off his feet.
"You'll pay for that!" Katsuki coughed getting back up on his feet. His arms will still hurting from going all out at the sports festival.
"Will I now?" Izuku taunted as his four robotic tentacles lifted him up in the air and started stomping towards the other boy. The metal arms extended out, making another attempt to claw at him. Bakugou used his explosions to leap over the technologically enhanced villain and try to get behind him, only for a pair of claws to grab both his feet, pull him back to Izuku's front and violently slam him into the ground.
"Guh! Agh!" Katsuki hollered, feeling a rib crack while the air in his lungs was knocked out of him.
"Awe! Poor baby!" Izuku mocked as another arm grabbed the blonde by the throat and repeatedly slammed him over and over into the dirt. "You gonna cry Kacchan?"
"Fuck you!" Bakugou raged.
"Sorry. You're not my type!" The tentacles quickly lifted their creator off the ground again to narrowly dodge a blast that could have done some damage. Several times Katsuki tried to hit him with his explosive quirk, but these robotic arms were fast and nimble. Keeping Izuku safe and out harm's way while doing damage to the boy from a distance.
'We're running out of time. I'm ending this.' The green haired villain glanced at his Allmight themed watch and realized that a hero would be arriving any minute now, so he decided to stop playing with his food. His arms suddenly reared back and shot their master forward like a cannon ball. Izuku raised his feet up and Katsuki was so caught off guard he couldn't dodge or defend himself and was brutally drop kicked in the gut, knocking him back on to the ground. His former bully victim didn't waste time and had his metal arms grab the blonde's wrists with a bruising force.
"Gotcha!" Izuku's tentacles held Bakugou's wrists tightly, keeping him pinned down in the dirt. To prevent any further struggle his other two mechanical arms kept his legs still. "Well look at this." Izuku took off his goggles and straddled the other's boy's torso. "The quirkless loser managed to beat U.A's star gold medalist." He laughed. "I guess your Deku now." Izuku's smile dropped into a frown as his hand clenched into a fist. He then slammed it into the bound Bakugou's face as hard as he could, splitting his lip open.
"Hey Deku!" He punched him again.
"Get up Deku!" Blood spilled out of Katsuki's mouth as that fist was rammed into his cheek for the third time.
"Stop crying Deku!" Izuku punched his nose this time. "Quirkless useless Deku!"
"Maybe if you had a quirk your mom wouldn't have died Deku!" He bashed the blonde's face in several more times. His punches become more vicious and feral.
"Why not jump off the roof and hope to reborn with a quirk in your next life Deku!" Izuku was screaming now as he kept punching Bakugou in the face over and over again. The hero in training had long since lost consciousness, but that didn't stop the young villain's assault. Blood pooled around Katsuki's head and for a moment Izuku thought he might actually be able to kill him, but he stopped. Good thing he did too as a hero had finally arrived. A very well-known hero.
"I am here!" Allmight finally caught up to them. He was appalled to see the state of one of his student at the hands of this despicable villain. "Release Young Bakugou at once!"
"Fine I'm done with him anyway." Izuku's robotic arms picked up the motionless body of Katsuki Bakugou and tossed him far away like a rag doll towards the playground equipment. He would have landed painfully if Allmight didn't suddenly appear and gently catch him.
"What kind of criminal would do this to a kid?" The number one hero was shocked to see the broken and bleeding face of his student.
"The kind of criminal that knows how much that asshole deserved it." Izuku mocked. "Though I'm surprised you don't remember me Allmight." He turned to face the symbol of piece with a wide almost deranged smirk. "Is it my hair that's different? Or maybe it's the big scary robo-claws!?" His mechanical arms reared up menacingly like snakes.
"What a minute." Allmight's brow furrowed as he was starting to remember where he met this young lad before.
"Well it was ten months ago, but who in this god forsaken cesspool would bother to remember a quirkless loser who dreamed he could be a hero." Izuku spat. "Can someone without a quirk become a hero like you?" He said with a fake meek voice. The hero's sunken eyes widened in realization.
"I need to get realistic huh!?" Izuku placed his hands on his hips. "How's this for realistic!" The metal arms whipped about around him, claws clinking together loudly.
"Young man." Allmight swallowed, trying to find the right words.
"What's this? Allmight the number one hero speechless?" Izuku chuckled. "Can I be a hero now? I did just kick the ever loving shit out of your first place winner right there. I did it without a quirk too." He smirked. "Just me and why wonderful invention. The Obligated Cerebral Technological Omni-tool! Or O.C.T.O for short. That's patented by the way." He explained while his tentacles flexed a bit, showing off their prowess. "I also gave them names." He pointed at each of the arms and introduced them. "Say hello to Grabby, Squeezy, Choky, and Kevin."
"Please. Young man, just stop. It's not too late." Allmight tried to plead with him. He didn't want to have to injure the boy.
"Young man? You will refer to me as Izuku Midoriya! Or you can call me by my villain name." Izuku placed his goggles back over his eyes. "I am the Octopus! Not the Green Octopus! Just Octopus!" He emphasized, gesturing widely with his hands. "You dress up in one green jump suit and suddenly you're the green something or whatever!" He cursed the idiotic media for getting his name wrong repeatedly. Allmight safely put Bakugou's unconscious body down. It seemed Midoriya chose the violent path.
"I'm sorry Young Midoriya. I truly am." The hero looked at him sadly. "But I can't let you go on like this."
"You say that like you can stop me." His mechanical arms stopped their movements and pointed themselves at the symbol of peace. However mentally Izuku knew he stood no chance. That being said he refused to go down without at least taking a swing at the number one hero. He'd finally gotten his revenge on Kacchan, so what was there to lose?
"I'm warning you now Young Midoriya." The hero was being stern now. "I don't want to hurt you."
"A little late for that!" Izuku shouted. "Can you be a hero without a quirk? No I don't think so." He repeated while doing an imitation of Allmight's voice. "That hurt me more than every beating, every insult, every look of pity and every glare of disgust in my whole fucking life!" He stomped towards the man who used to be his idol. "Now I only want to make you bleed!" Izuku's tentacles shot towards Allmight. The hero grabbed one of the arms, but was forced to dodge out of the way of another one that tried to claw his face off.
"That's right I've got arms! Arms for days!" Midoriya laughed as he continued his assault. Metal pincers rapidly grabbing and clanking in a vicious attempt to tear the hero to shreds.
"Enough!" Allmight gripped two of the arms with both hands and effortlessly tore them in half.
"Grabby! Choky! NO!" The boy screamed in horror as he looked at the sparking metal stumps leaking fluid. The hero grabbed the third one and pulled Izuku towards him before slinging him over his shoulder and into the ground. "Gah!" Midoriya gasped as all the air was knocked out of him. Allmight ripped the robotic arm in half then stomped on the last one for good measure. "KEVIN! You heartless bastard!" The green haired villain rolled over and tried to get up only to get chopped in the back of the neck and knocked out.
"Why Young Midoriya?" Toshinori looked down sadly at the defeated boy. Glancing up he finally noticed the media copter recording the encounter.
FOUR HOURS LATER
"What a mess" Aizawa said with an angry tone, with most of his body still covered in bandages. Why wouldn't he be angry? His students were attacked in broad daylight. Several were hurt and Bakugou was violently assaulted. Now the media vultures had flooded the school's main entrance eager to get the scoop on what happened and use the incident to knock U.A down a peg. "How could we let this happen?"
"Calm down." Principal Nezu tried to placate him. "No one could have predicted a young man equipped with such a powerful support device would commit such a surprise attack on our school." Taking a sip from his tea the small talking animal continued. "On some level you have to admire his boldness."
"Don't compliment the little monster." Aizawa snapped at him.
"I'm not. I just want to know what would compel that boy to perform such a blatant kamikaze assault." Nezu supplied. "He had to have known that he wouldn't get away with this."
"Maybe he's crazy." The underground hero answered for him. Just then Recovery Girl walked into the office.
"Good news. The students are fine." She began. "Other than Bakugou no serious injuries."
"And how is young Bakugou?" Nezu asked.
"He suffered some damage to his head and face, as well as a few cracked ribs. That Midoriya didn't hold back at all, but our sport's festival champion will make a full recovery. However he will have a permanent scar on his face." The old heroin explained.
"Well that's a relief." Nezu smiled pleasantly. "And your assessment of our…guest." He wanted to know the condition of the young villain as well.
"Other than a few minor burns and a few bruises, he's fine." She then sighed. "I'm more interested in the other things I noticed."
"Like what?" Even Aizawa was curious.
"Aside from being undernourished, his body was littered with quite an alarming number of scars. Some of which looked like bullet holes. " Recovery girl said. From her assessment it seemed the boy has been living on the streets and suffered numerous injuries. A minor villain like him would have probably been fodder for other villains. "Bakugou and Allmight didn't really do much damage to him."
"Speaking of Allmight, where the hell is he?" Erasure Head scowled.
"He wanted to have a private talk with our young villain, before the detective arrives." Nezu understood that there was some history between the two. Best to let them hash it out.
LOCKER ROOMS
"Has he tried to escape?" Toshinori asked his colleague and fellow teacher Snipe. The gun slinging hero stood guard over the boy's locker room. U.A didn't have any real prison cells, so they had to lock Midoriya in one of the locker rooms.
"Nope." Snipe said. "He's just been in their humming and whistling occasionally." Kind of creeped him out if he was being honest. Snipe stood by and let the number one hero walk through the door. Once inside Toshinori powered down to his skinny emaciated form. His eyes landed on a hunched over figure sitting down at the bench with his back to the door.
The boy had been stripped of his gear and jump suit and now sat there in just a pair of black boxer briefs. His body was slender and obviously under fed, but still had a bit of lean muscled built up. He could see the kid's numerous scars and bruises. Some fresh, some old. There were also some deep indentions in his skin where the harness for his device was strapped to him. Toshinori took a step towards Izuku and the boy started whistling the theme song to Allmight's old cereal commercial. The hero wasn't deterred, he simply continued on carrying a paper bag with him. Walking around the boy he sat down on the bench opposite to him.
From this angle he could see more of his scars as well as the hand cuffs around his wrists and ankles. Midoriya's hair was long and matted and without the goggles fell around his face, covering his eyes, and spilling around his neck and shoulders. The dark green locks almost resembling tentacles themselves at first glance. His lips stopped whistling and broke out into a wide smirk.
"Hiiiii." Midoriya whispered. The gaunt man said nothing. He merely bent over and with a key, unlocked the boy's cuffs, then placed the paper bag at his feet. Izuku reached in and pulled out a simple white t-shirt and black loose work out pants.
"Thanks." Standing up he slipped the gratefully accepted clothes on. Then he held his wrists out for the hero to reapply the cuffs, not holding any delusions about his situation. Allmight nodded and locked his wrists and ankles back together.
"I'm curious." Izuku finally spoke, interrupting the silence. "What's the great symbol of peace is doing being nice to a lowly villain like me?"
"Just thought you could use some clothes. It's cold in here isn't it?" The man said.
"A bit." Izuku was still smirking and with his eyes blocked by a curtain of hair, it was hard to tell what he was thinking.
"Why did you do it?" Allmight finally asked. "Why did you attack that bus? Why did you assault Young Bakugou so viciously?"
"I'm out of work and out of money." Izuku started. "After months of living on the streets and evading the cops and heroes, I've officially run out of the resources I need to maintain my O.C.T.O arms." He chuckled lightly. "So I figured, why not end my villain career with a bang, and have a little fun."
"So you're telling me you did this for fun?" Toshinori had a hard time believing such a thing.
"Well not just that. I always wanted to get revenge on Katsuki Bakugou. That was the cherry on top." He chuckled louder. "That arrogant selfish prick got beaten by a quirkless useless nerd. He'll never forget that or live it down for the rest of his life." His body was shaking with excitement. "My work is done."
"So you really are the Green Octopus?" Allmight said.
"No I'm not!" Izuku suddenly exploded. "It's just the Octopus! Get it right!"
"Sorry." The blonde man frowned at the kid's outburst. It seems he wasn't all that stable. Which he noticed already from the fight earlier.
"Let's change the subject. What did you think of my O.C.T.O arms?" Izuku asked eagerly. "Pretty cool weren't they?"
"They would have made you a wonderful hero." It was then that the teenager laughed out loud at his comment.
"Please. We both know society would never allow a quirkless hero." He said in a matter of fact tone. "Let's get to the real reason you're here. You want to know if I told anybody your little secret." He gestured to the man's side where his old wound was still very much there. "Don't worry I didn't tell a soul. If anyone's going to kill you it's going to be me." Had he blabbered about Allmight's weakness then every villain would start taking shots at him. Toshinori let out a long drawn out sigh.
"Thank you, but that's not what I wanted know." He finally said.
"Really?"
"Why did you become a villain?" The hero asked him. "The Midoriya I met tenths months ago said he wanted to save people with a smile."
"It's simple. I finally came to the conclusion that it's not my fault that I'm an unwanted reject of society. Its society's fault for being this way in the first place. It's your fault, no it's all the heroes fault for keeping society this way." Izuku listed off everything he despised with aggressive passion. "I hate this quirk obsessed society. I hate heroes and I fucking hate you Allmight!" He growled out. It hurt the man's heart to hear a boy who looked up to him so much to say these things. Finally having enough he stood up to leave.
"I'm sorry Young Midoriya. I really am." He place a gentle hand on the kid's shoulder. As he walked past him he felt a pair of hands grip his wrist. Izuku turned his head allowing some of the hair that obstructed his eyes to be parted.
"No you're not." A single emerald green eye stared at his gaunt face with such palpable venom. "But you will be. You'll be really sorry." His mouth stretched into a dark smirk that almost brought Toshinori chills. Pulling his hand away he left the boy there without another word. As he exited the door he could hear Midoriya start whistling again, this time an old funeral song.
BACK AT THE PRINCIPAL'S OFFICE
"I must say I've never seen anything like this." Power loader said as he put the pictures on screen of Midoriya's invention. What was left of it at least. "The arms are just attached to him through the harness, that's simple enough, but it's how he controls them that's really impressive."
"Now this is interesting." Nezu also complimented the ingenuity of their recently captured villain. "I've never seen a neural interface like this."
"Me neither, the only thing that comes close to this is advanced prosthetics." The support tech teacher explained.
"What's the point?" Aizawa asked.
"The point is that this kid created a set of mechanical utility arms, strong enough to lift and throw a bus. With a neural system that interacts with his own brain so advanced that he can control them better than he controls his own flesh and blood limbs." Power Loader was more than impressed by Midoriya's invention. It was shame the police were planning on taking it with them as evidence. He would have loved the chance to study it more.
"Well Yagi." Nezu spoke finally having noticed the hero had entered room. "What did he have to say?"
"A few things actually." The skinny man sighed, having only caught the last bit of what Power Loader was saying. "If you're wondering he calls them the O.C.T.O. arms. I can't remember what it stood for, but you can ask him yourself if you want." Just then Detective Naomasa entered the office having let himself in.
"You guys might want to sit down for this." The detective said without hesitation.
"Naomasa" Allmight greeted his friend.
"Please Toshinori." He cleared his throat, giving the man a chance to sit down, while he pulled a rather thick file from case. "We never knew who the Green Octopus was, but when Allmight told us the young man's name we were able to combine the two files together and a clear picture finally formed."
"I don't understand." Toshinori frowned.
"Izuku Midoriya aka The Green Octopus." Naomasa started reading from the file. "Orphaned at age eight. Mother tragically died during a clash between heroes and villains. Father: Overseas, relinquished any claims to guardianship. Midoriya lived in foster care for about a year and was then adopted by, get this, the known leader of the Shie Hassaikai." He paused as he flipped through a few more pages. "After that there's a big gap. It wasn't until two years ago that this multi limbed villain made his first appearance."
'That was one year before I met him and he asked me that question.' Allmight realized. 'So he was already a villain at that point.'
"The Octopus was always seen with known associates of Shie Hassaikai so investigators came to the conclusion that he was working for them." The detective continued. "At some point in the last year he must have had a falling out with the group."
"What makes you think that?" Allmight asked.
"Well there's the fact that he stopped appearing with the Yakuza and started committing crimes on his own. Add to the fact that a hit was put out on him." Naomasa explained.
"Someone in the Yakuza group he joined wanted him dead?" Aizawa questioned. "He probably knew something that they didn't want him to know and ran off when his life was in danger." He concluded.
"Going by the state of him, it looked like he had been living on the streets for months." Recovery Girl added. Despite being a villain she couldn't help but feel sorry for the lad. It must not have been easy to live like that without a quirk.
"Naomasa. We can't send him to jail." Toshinori pleaded with his friend.
"He's right." Aizawa spoke up. "A quirkless kid like him, he'd be eaten alive, even in a juvenile detention center. Plus with the Yakuza after him, they'd know right where to find him when this gets made public." As much as he didn't like the kid for attacking his students that didn't mean he wanted to see him dead. Midoriya was just a boy that the system failed. And who knows, maybe there was some redeemable quality in that crazy head of his.
"Well let's just get him down to the station." The detective spoke. "We can properly interrogate him there. He must have information on the Shie Hassaikai as a former member. Perhaps, depending on what he gives up, we can make a deal."
"Hm, interesting." Nezu finally spoke up after staying quiet through the whole story.
"What are you up to?" Aizawa asked with narrow eyes.
"I was just thinking." The white creature went on. "We don't want to put him in jail or a juvenile center right? His crimes before attacking that bus of our students were not that terrible right?"
"Where are you going with this?" Toshinori wondered.
"You said it yourself Power Loader. His invention is quite brilliant right?" Nezu looked to the support teacher.
"I hope you're not suggesting what I think you're suggesting." Aizawa said. The talking animal just smiled and went to his computer. He'd have to make some arrangements, a few favors would have to be called in, but this could work.
"What's he up to now?" Toshinori wanted to know.
"Since he doesn't have a parent or guardian, it falls to U.A to take custody of Izuku Midoriya for his own protection." Nezu explained. "That's what heroes do after all. We save people. Even from their own destructive habits if we have to." He chuckled. Everyone remained silent at his announcement. Some agreed, while others just envisioned how terribly this plan could go wrong.
"We'll cut a deal with Midoriya." Detective Naomasa said. "He has information on the Shie Hassaikai. If he gives up what he knows then perhaps he will be given a lighter sentence and he can be put under the school's watch and responsibility." Nezu smiled seeing the man support this. "Sir Nighteye will want to interrogate him of course. He's investigating that group." Toshinori frowned hearing the name of his former sidekick. He'd not spoken to him in over six years. "We're also taking what's left of his invention back to the station as evidence."
"I'll go get it." Power Loader stood up from his seat and left the room, back to the development studio where he was examining Midoriya's OCTO arms.
"Are you okay with Nighteye speaking to Midoriya?" The detective asked his friend Toshinori.
"Yeah. Its fine." The skinny man sighed.
DEVELOPMENT STUDIO
"This is so cool!" Mei exclaimed making the arm move via remote control. She'd originally snuck into the studio to work on some more of her babies again, so many ideas that sports festival gave heri, but instead found this beauty all banged up sitting on the table. After hooking up a few wires to a basic video game controller she was able to get one of the arms to move. It barely functioned, due to whatever damage it took, but the claws were still in perfect working order. Mei used it crush a few soda cans and whatever other scrap she could find in the workshop.
"Hatsume! What do you think you're doing!?" Power Loader entered the studio and found his brightest and best student playing with the villain's machine.
"Oh! Power Loader sensei! Is this one of yours? How does it work? What's the weight limit? How'd did you get the grip strength to be so strong?" Mei went off with a bunch of questions a mile a minute.
"Slow down Hatsume." The support teacher stopped her. "This isn't my invention."
"It isn't? Then who made this?" Mei asked.
"Did you not hear about the villain that attacked the bus after the festival?" Power Loader wondered.
"Not really. Maybe I heard some vague things, but I was too busy thinking up new ideas for my babies." She waved it off.
"Well class 1-A's bus was attacked and a handful of students were injured, just so you know." He summed up. "The villain was a quirkless boy using these robotic tentacles that you're messing with."
"Wait someone my age made this!?" Mei exclaimed.
"Yeah." Power Loader was startled when Hatsume suddenly ran up to him, invading his personally space.
"You have to let me meet him! I need to know how he built this! I must pick his brain!" She exploded. "Please! Please! Please!"
"Calm down Hatsume!" Power Loader silenced her. "Listen. I shouldn't be telling you this, but you'll get your chance to talk to him."
"Really?" Her eyes sparkled.
"Yeah. After the police interrogate him down at the station, the school will be taking custody of him since he's under age and without a parent or guardian." Majima explained. "With a mind like his, they'll probably put him in this class."
"That's great!" Mei shouted. "I need to make a list of things to ask him." She pulled a pen and notebook and began scribbling questions to ask.
"Just don't get your hopes up Hatsume. The boy is a villain remember." Power Loader tried to warn her. "He may not be up to talking to you when he does join."
"Oh I have ways of making him talk." She smirked darkly while chuckling almost like a villain herself.
'Oh god. Please don't let those two become friends.' Power Loader silently prayed as he gathered up the remains of Midoriya's invention.
OUTSIDE
"I don't even get the maiden?" Izuku smirked as he saw a simple squad car to be transporting him to the station.
"That's for real villains brat." Hound Dog snarled as he pushed the cuffed boy forward.
"How rude. I thought trained mutts like you were better behaved than this." Izuku mocked the hero teacher. "Are you even house broken?"
"Get moving!" Hound Dog growled out.
"Geese. No sense of humor." Izuku sighed as he walked towards the front entrance. The other teachers stood guard along the walk way. Even Erasure head was there which honestly made him smirk. Did they really expect him to pull some random quirk out of his ass or something? Outside the school there were a large plethora of journalists and photographers held back by the police officers. It was here that Izuku paused and stared in awe at all the attention he was receiving.
"They see me." He whispered to himself. "I'm not invisible anymore." Izuku's smile returned and he waved his cuffed hands at the crowd. "HELLO WORLD! I'M THE OCTOPUS!" He shouted. Hound dog shoved him towards the squad car.
"Get him the hell out of here!" The teacher ordered as the reporters went into a frenzy at the boy's words and desperately tried to push passed the line of officers to get the scoop. Izuku was safely put in the back of the car. Once the officers then loaded the broken pieces of his robotic arms into the trunk, the car took off. Izuku looked out the back window, watching what was once his dream school disappear into the distance. He was disappointed that Allmight didn't see him off, but figured the hero must have exhausted his time. Izuku looked out the other windows, taking note of the convoy that was transporting little ole him. Two more squad cars in the front, two in the back and one on each side. Guess they didn't want a repeat of what he did to the bus. The thought made the boy chuckle in delight at what he inflicted on those pompous U.A students.
Izuku rested his head against the window of the car, now just watching the setting sun. As he ruminated on the end of his villain career, his eyes spotted a large shadow speeding toward the convoy.
"Excuse me officer." Izuku spoke to the police man in the passenger seat in front of him.
"You know you have the right to remain silent." The man said without looking back at the boy.
"Yes I know that, but I felt it would be prudent to let you two fine gentlemen know that a…" Izuku paused to look out the window again to get a good look at what was flying towards the vehicle. "A monster of some kind seems to be flying at us at high speed and will be here in…" He took another look out the window to calculate the speed. "Three seconds."
"Your full of-" Something crashed into the car, lifting it up and off the road.
"SHIIIIT!" Izuku screamed, clutching the seat belt in fear for his life. The strange flying monster took the car high into the air above the building then ripped the squad car clean in half. It carelessly tossed the front half containing the officers to their deaths and held tight to the half that held Izuku. "What the hell!?" The monster looked like some hideous abomination crossed with a bat and a human, with a gross exposed brain and hollow dead eyes staring right at him. "I'm too young to die!" The creature then dropped the half holding him. Izuku screamed even as a misty black portal formed to catch his fall. He stopped his screaming as he passed through, crashing onto a pristine white floor. Looking around he carefully examined his new surroundings. Various wires and machinery, multiple monitor screens, tubes and medical equipment leading to a chair that was currently turned away from him.
"My apologies." The black mist that formed the portal gathered together into the shape of a nicely dressed man with a mass of that same smoke substance for a head and hands. "Those Nomu don't know the meaning of the word tact." The man created a small portal to sever the chain on Izuku's cuffs. "Come." The mist man gestured for Izuku to get out of his seat in the severed vehicle. Which he cautiously did.
"Where am I?" Midoriya asked.
"You're safe. My master simply wishes to speak with you." The stranger supplied.
"And who's your master?" Izuku glanced around.
"That would be me." A confident, smooth and commanding voice spoke from the chair that sat before the monitors. "Come have a seat." It was then that Izuku noticed the other chair and table between the two chairs. Walking over he sat down and stared at what was on that table. A whole buffet of all his favorite foods, just sitting their tantalizing him and making Izuku's mouth water. "When I saw on the news that a quirkless boy like yourself so boldly attacked U.A students in broad daylight and right under the nose of the number one hero. I just had to meet him." The chair slowly turned around making Izuku gulp at the state of this man. He had no freaking face. Just a mouth and the rest was a bald head covered in scar tissue. The man was dressed in a black suit and was hooked up to various tubes attached to life support machines. "Izuku Midoriya. It's a pleasure." The boy didn't say anything. "Please. Don't wait on my account. I know you have to be hungry."
That was all Izuku needed to hear. He dived right in. Practically shoveling food into his mouth. It'd been forever since he'd a decent meal after all. After subsisting on scraps and cheap fast food he was fully ready to take advantage of this banquet laid out before him.
"No hesitation. Interesting." The faceless man commented. "You're not even going to ask if its poisoned?"
"It's not poisoned." Izuku said with his mouth full.
"Swallow your food first before speaking." The shady man corrected like a teacher correcting an impolite student. Midoriya did as he was told, not wanting to be rude to his generous host that just rescued him from the police and gave him this wonderful meal.
"Oh I know it's not poisoned." He said again.
"How do you know?" The man asked. "Indulge an old man please." He said while resting his head on his fist.
"Simple. You would have just killed me outright if that was the goal." Izuku said. "I've made quite a few enemies during my stint as a villain, but I don't recall ever pissing off a man with no face before. That's something I would definitely remember. Coupled with the fact that you said that you had just seen me on the news means that you have never heard of me before. You also went through the trouble of having your pet monster scoop me up out of police custody. Now your offer me food, which all means that this is more than a simple meet and greet." He listed all that off rapidly in one breath.
"And what do you think this is?" The faceless man asked with amusement.
"A job offer, obviously." Izuku smirked while his new potential employer just chuckled.
"Fascinating. You got that all in just a few seconds. What a wonderful brilliant mind." The mysterious man complimented him. "Allow me to introduce myself. My name is All for One. And yes I do have a job that I'd like to hire you for."
"Tell me more." Izuku took a sip of his drink, truly intrigued.
"Have you heard of the League of Villains?" The now identified villain asked.
"Have I? A bunch of disorganized idiots if you ask me." Izuku mocked. "Managed to successfully infiltrate the U.S.J and then fell flat on their ass. You want me to take them out?" He made slit throat gesture with his finger over his neck.
"I happen to be the founder of this organization and I'm training my apprentice to take over." All for One explained. Izuku put his drink down slowly, swallowing what was in his mouth.
"Awkward." He giggled. "So what do you need a quirkless loser like me for? You strike me as a man with many…" He looked around the room at all the advanced computers and machinery. "Resources."
"You know you should really have more confidence in yourself my boy." All for One said. "You've accomplished quite an interesting feet and managed to make a name for yourself, all without a quirk. I find a mind like yours so much more valuable than any of those resources."
"I assume you want me to be a part of this League of Villains. Under your so called apprentice." Izuku deduced. "I'm afraid my intellectual and criminal services are not for sale." He burst out laughing. "I'm joking they are absolutely for sale."
"Name your price." All for One smirked. He could just as easily force this boy to work for him, but that was too easy. Loyalty is always bought and forced servitude would only breed resentment after all.
"New clothes, a comfy place to sleep, a new laptop, some tools, more of this tasty seafood and we can talk income at a later day if you prefer." Izuku listed off everything he wanted. "Give me enough zeroes on a check and I'll rip out Endeavor's spleen if that's what you want."
"Oh you'll be a great addition to the group." All for One grinned widely.
"Cheers." Izuku smiled back as he held his cup up to toast such a great deal. It seems his career wasn't over just yet. This was the start of a whole new chapter to how he became one of the most feared villains in the country.
So yeah. This is my Doc Oc Izuku story idea. This isn't where the story would begin. If I expand this into a fic, I'd start with his back story first.
This took too long to write, because I kept going back and changing things. Then I decided hey it doesn't matter, since this is just a one shot so nothing is set in stone. I can change anything I want if this does become a story. Also feel free to use this idea as a jumping off point if you want. I'm not writing anymore drawn out stories until my main one is finished. Just wanted to get his idea out there.
Took a break from Apotheosis to finish this. New chapter for that is coming soon.
Tell me what you think of this…let's call it a rough sketch.
