She often watched the boy who cleaned the beach that summer. The green haired, bright eyed boy who slowly, but surely, gained the muscle for whatever he was working toward. Who often screamed to fight his way through his obstacles- and very often cried. She had a hunch on what was going on, seeing that All Might was always there, coaching him.

Her two inspirations to train herself for the upcoming exam to get into UA.

Her quirk wasn't anything major, nothing good anyways, though she tried her best to make something of it.

At night, when the green haired boy left the beach, she would venture down to the calm water. Waves splashed over her pale toes, heels wedged in the soft sand, little shells poking them but not enough to be anything more than a tiny bit uncomfortable.

She'd often gaze up at the stars with those big orbs that swirled with grays and blues, taking in the constellations and mentally naming all the ones she knew. Long, soft white unruly hair spread across the sand without a care in the world, in a baggy t shirt and a pair of shorts, the cool salty breeze flowing through her clothes and across her face. That was her happy place.

Her quirk was nothing short of villainous to everyone who knew about it. Energy manipulation. She had the ability to take energy, give energy, and convert it into whatever she needed. Though, it seemed as though all she did was take it.

For example, if she scraped her knee, she could simply pull the energy from any living organisms around her, usually plants and insects, and she could push that energy into certain cells in her body and heal herself. Or she could do it to give herself more energy to train. Simple things like that. Her favorite though, was to pull the energy from a small fire and create one herself. She could only recreate the same kind of energy she absorbed, as far as she understood. She really wasn't sure if she could do more.

She hated it.

When she pulled that energy, she always killed; depleted the life force from everything she grasped with her hands. Insects would turn to dust, and plants would shrivel up and die.

The only thing her hands could safely absorb energy from, was the sea. It gave and gave and gave energy, constantly. She never had to worry about depleting it. Especially during the low tide, when the sea was at it lowest and moon at its peak, that's when the ocean gave the strongest, most pure energy that she could absorb from its calm and calculated waves.

And so, every night she would come to the ocean and practice her energy manipulation. Her body couldn't give back energy yet, but one day, she promised she would.

When she'd finish meditating on the beach, she'd wonder back to the orphanage in the early hours of the morning to get a few hours of rest, wake up for school, come home to do all her chores, train for a few hours, and rinse and repeat. Nothing majorly exciting.

Not for now, anyways.

It seemed as if the weeks flew by, and soon enough the time for the exam was here. Though she had been training as hard as she could, she felt as though she had not improved in the slightest. A disappointing realization, of course.

"Hey! Watch where you're going!"

She stumbled back, scuffing the ground with her shoes, and looked up at the foul mouthed blonde with flaming red eyes. Her eyes narrowed and nose scrunched up in distaste.

"How about you stay out of my way?"

Her smart mouth wouldn't get her anywhere, but if there was one thing she learned from her foster homes, it was that you can't let people walk over you.

She brushed past him, her shoulder bumping his harshly, and tried to find her way through the crowd of kids to the front of everything.

Eventually she gave up, seeing how she lost track of what direction she was going, and her short stature made it impossible to see where she was going.

Probably best to be patient about this, she concluded.

Bakugou, on the other hand, stood their absolutely miffed about the tiny, the short, the frail girlthat had the balls to snark back to him like that. He had a certain amount of respect for her to be able to even look at him without being even a little intimidated. Something about that didn't sit right with him.

His teeth grinded in irritation.

The thought enraged him.

A little fucking girl.

Oh yeah, that runt was definitely going on his shit list, right up there next to Deku.

Fuck fuck fuck

That was all she could think. Everyone was racking up all kinds of points and she only had

She brushed the white sticky strands of hair away from her face. Her bun was falling apart, and to be frank, so was her plan of one day becoming a hero. How was she ever going to control her quirk with help from U.A?

Her shoulders sagged with the heavy feeling of defeat.

"No." She breathed out. "Not so soon.."

I'm failing.

I can't do it.

Her shirt was drenched in sweat and her breaths quick and heavy as she sluggishly rushed around looking for another target. She begged to find just a few more. That's all she needed.

An explosion a few meters away nearly knocked her off her feet. A few strands of hair came out of her already wild bun of hair atop her head, and dust and debri were flying wildly around her. She coughed a few times, and when she could finally see again her stormy eyes became the size of saucers.

"Holy hell, dude!" She yelled to no one in particular.

It was a giant faux villain. In fact, it was the same one they were told they wouldn't get any points from defeating. How the fu-

The scrambled thoughts swirling through her brain were interrupted as fellow teens came shooting past her, away from the giant machine.

She turned to run with them, taking a single sprint before she skidded to a stop. Something felt off. The hairs on the back of her neck bristled. She slowly turned back to the villain, brushing hair out of her face clumsily in haste to find what made her tingle with this wrong feeling.

It wasn't unlike the same feeling she got when her parents were killed.

The sound of screaming echoed off the buildings surround them, and her eyes caught sight of the green haired boy who was looking at the source of the scream. A brunette girl, trapped under a pile of rubble.

The boy looked up at the machine, quickly masking the fear on his face with determination. He really looked like a true hero.

Before she could make a sound, the boy shot up into the air like a rocket. There was obviously nothing she could do about the boy now, but she could save the girl from being crushed by the giant piece of metal that was torpedoing towards her.

Her feet moved without a second thought, and she rushed toward the girl. She couldn't stop the giant metal debris, but she could hopefully shove it in the other direction, away from the terrified brunette.

Her palms reached outward onto the concrete ground. The pads on her hands quickly pulled in the energy that the robot was expelling into the ground, and concentrated it into her feet. She really hoped this worked, she had never tried anything like it before, so it was definitely a huge risk. Kita had no other choice.

Her knees bent, legs feeling heavy and jittery from all the explosive energy forced into them. Within a second, a crack filled the air as she shot up towards her target. A feverish sensation came over her entire body in that moment, and it felt great. But only for a second.

Her body slammed against the cool metal just in time, and she landed on the ground on top of it, skidding across the ground before tumbling off of it and across the other debris.

A groan escaped her lips when she tried to move. Sharp pains wracked her left side. She knew her actions would take its toll on her body, but damn, it hurt. It's not like she had much of a choice anyways.

"Are you okay?!"

Large, now completely gray, eyes cracked open and scanned the face in front of her. It was the girl that was trapped. She laid belly down across a large piece of pavement broke off from the ground, and hand covering her mouth. The putrid odor of puke reach her nose and her face scrunched in disgust. Being too awkward to say anything, she decided to just get up and try to move away from the girl.

Within seconds the pain in her body began to fade, she'd be very bruised but luckily she didn't break anything.

"Y-Yeah, I'm okay. Are you?"

"I'm fine, I think he hurt himself really bad though..." She gestured to the green haired boy laying in a heap on the ground. His legs and arm were twisted awkwardly and she cringed.

"Hey, dude! You okay? Say something!" She yelled at him as she stumbled over to him. Her feet scraped the ground as she plopped down next to him. He didn't budge. He was out cold.

"Thank you for saving me! I-I'm Ochaco Uraraka."

"I'm Kita Nishida. Nice to meet you, though I wish it were under different circumstances." She smiled uncomfortably and cocked her head sideways at Ochaco. What a day it had been.

Little did she know, her life was about to become even more complicated.
