Chapter 1 - Mandatory Introduction
My name is Keito. I am your average 17 year old young adult. I love watching Naruto, and I love playing music.
I was just a simple kid; I had a good life. A family, friends that I earned, and a beautiful girlfriend.
Everything was fine, JUST fine! Until, one summer day, I decided to visit my friend Asato. I was very bored and had nothing to do.
I had already texted him to let him know I was on the way so he can be ready.
Before I left my house, I checked the mirror and reminisced on how I changed over the years.
I had black shaggy hair.
My blue-black square glasses helped my near-sightedness, but my hair would sometimes get in the way of my vision.
I wasn't fond of my pale skin complexion, but I had grown accustomed to it.
I wasn't really athletic, but I could be an athlete depending on the sport.
I wondered how I became so lazy over time, but quickly ignored the thought as I headed out the door. It's a part of life, I guess. We all change.
How will Asato react since we haven't seen each other in a couple of years…?
It might be a shock to him that I became more popular in my high school compared to middle school. Because I opened myself more and learned how to appreciate humor, people accepted me.
Leaving my building, I ran about 15 blocks before slowing down to Asato's front yard.
I rang his bell, and he greeted me at the door.
"Hey Keito! What's up!? It's been a while." He smiled wide.
"Yeah! It has been… Oh my god, Olly!" I was distracted by the incoming dog.
"Arf!"
I was petting Asato's beagle while he continued to ask questions. However, I was barely paying attention because of how cute his dog was.
"Mhm… yeah… yup...Hey, did Olly become fatter?" I interjected.
"He's not fat… He's chubby!" Asato grinned slightly.
"Hehehe… Oh! I recently started dating someone…" I started to say as we headed inside.
"WHAT?!"
Asato looked proud. He also seemed more respectful to me now compared to middle school.
FLASHBACK
"Come on dude! Stop spamming at Super Smash Bros.!" I screamed over the phone.
"You gotta learn to be better, man! Who cares... you spam too! And don't whine, your voice hurts my ears." Asato responded.
"Well, I'm sorry I haven't started puberty yet!" I whined.
"I'm sorry you're such a kid." He shot back, and hung up.
"I wonder why I'm friends with him again…?" I thought to myself as I silently rubbed my eyes before starting the next match.
END FLASHBACK
Recapping our high school years on the couch, we acknowledged how much we grew. Asato was really tall, with short black hair. His height hasn't changed at all, but he was starting to grow a mustache and beard combo. From what he told me, he's usually playing video games every day.
He says he gets paid for it. I call bullshit.
Besides all that, he's still the same dude I grew up with.
"Oh lemme set up the Xbox." Asato walked over to the TV.
My phone started to vibrate. I checked.
It was my girlfriend! Hey, I haven't talked to her in a week or so, I miss her!
"Whoops, phone call - It's the GF. Be right back."
Running to the bathroom, I hear Asato call after me: "Come on, you don't trust me? Haha.."
Closing the door, I answered.
"Hey, babe, what's up?" I sat on the toilet seat.
"Hey…. Look I have something important to tell you..."
I felt a tinge of nervousness as I said "Sure, what's up?"
"I'm… not sure I want to be in a relationship right now. Something… happened. I'm trying to figure out what's happening inside me. I don't know how to explain. Just know, it's nothing to do with you. It's me. I'm not the same person that I was."
I was in shock. My body was starting to shake.
"I never meant to cause you pain. I care about you…" She continued.
"It's fine, it's fine. I understand. Don't worry. I'll be around." I cut her off. "Hey, I got to go, I'm at my friend's. But thank you for calling me and letting me know."
She was crying throughout the whole conversation and I couldn't even find the tears to start as well.
I hung up. I decided to pull myself through this hangout time and breakdown later. I was processing everything.
"SO DUDE! Let's play! What we playing?" I barged out.
"Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm 3!"
"Aw shit, sweet! I've been eyeing that game for a bit now!" I wasn't surprised that he had the game but still…
We started to play until about an hour and a half later, I was feeling the effects of the conversation with my girlfriend.
Wait, so she's my ex now…?
Asato had a favorite combo team that he kept winning with. However, I managed to win at least once.
"YEAH TAKE THAT! Finally one win!" I yelled.
"Alright I'll acknowledge that one. Just that one hahaha!" Asato grumbled slightly.
"Sweet…" I was crashing. I decided to end my facade and take my leave.
"Crap, I just remembered, I have to do this one thing… somewhere…! See ya!" I rushed out of his house, leaving Asato a bit stunned and Olly barking right after me.
"Uh, ok see ya!" He screamed after me.
In a hurry, I rushed into my house. No one was home yet. I walked slowly, taking things out of my pockets and onto the nearest table. I fell onto the couch and assumed a fetal position.
I grabbed the nearest pillow and just solemnly stared into the air.
I wanted to cry but I had no tears.
I wanted to scream but I had no voice.
Remembering the game Asato had, I focused on Naruto simultaneously as my breakup.
We WERE happy, I wonder what was wrong… but that game was so cool too, honestly…
I sighed, and went to grab my guitars. I broke out both my acoustic and electric.
Maybe practicing will help me get my mind off it.
It didn't. I kept slowing down and stopping to ponder.
I just stopped and set my guitar to the side. I lay back down onto the couch.
"Imagine if I met Naruto and the gang…? " I softly spoke. "It would be so much different and an unforgettable experience. Friends, enemies… relationships. 'Chuckle' I wish I was in the Naruto world..."
Slowly closing my eyes, I wouldn't believe what would happen next.
My senses started to fade, and I felt my body being transported - but I wasn't moving…?
Why can't I open my eyes? I feel so tired and weird… I'm heavy but light…?
Next thing I know, I hear birds chirping and my back definitely wasn't on my couch anymore.
"Ugh, what… the… fuck…" I finally shot open my eyes.
It hurt to move any part of my body. I managed to see that I was surrounded by trees and in the middle of some kind of path.
Is… this a lucid dream? I'm so aware right now. I managed to slap my arm. Nope, I definitely feel that. My arms and legs are feeling less heavy now…
I looked around and saw my guitars next to me, including the amplifier I forgot to plug in.
"Wait, what's going on? I swear I was just home." Was I kidnapped? Did I sleepwalk somewhere?
Gathering my surroundings, I quickly realized where I was. This is familiar. TOO familiar.
I managed to stand up, even with my legs shaking.
I was near a forest with a town right nearby. I saw a house down the road, with people tending to their crops. Nothing out of the ordinary, with the birds and the sound of rustling bushes… Wait.
What was that? I turned rapidly towards the sound of the bush but as fast it was heard, it stopped.
I started to take a small step back when I heard a voice behind me. "Don't move please, I don't want to kill you."
Widening my eyes, I started to sweat as I tried to mutter some words, but held myself back as I saw the rest of the group appear before me.
Naruto Uzumaki, Sakura Haruno, and Captain Yamato jumped down from the trees. Assessing the situation, I guessed Sai was the one behind me.
"Stand down Sai, he doesn't seem to have any weapons. Keep watch." Yamato ordered.
"Mhm." Sai lowered his kunai while taking a few steps back.
I-I-I can't believe this is happening!
My mind is racing as I tried to comprehend. These aren't cosplayers. They're the real deal.
"Lady Hokage has sent us due to reports from nearby villagers of an explosive-like noise, and an unconscious stranger in strange clothing." Sakura explained smoothly. "We figured it has to be you."
"Hey! What's your name!?" Naruto burst with excitement.
"I-you-what-uhm." I stammered heavily.
"You alright?" Naruto asked. "You seem really red. Did ya hear me?"
I can feel my mind shutting down.
"What-what-what…" I couldn't finish my sentence as I started to faint.
I'm exhausted and I can't process this…
I fell over as Sai grabbed me and the concerned voices of the others started to fade.
Ow… My head is still pounding… I think I'm conscious now. I dare not open my eyes.
I knew I wasn't back at the road. My body was in a chair, and I felt ropes tied around my wrists, arms, and legs.
Yeah, I guess they took me in for interrogation, I won't blame them…
".. So you're awake." A voice from the far end of the room resonated.
I opened my eyes. I definitely was inside somewhere, but it looked like an office. The windows depicted sundown fading into night. There were no lights on but I could make out a few shadows where the voice was heard.
Glad my eyes were already adjusted to the dark...
There were stacks of papers and books surrounding a table.
"Would you mind explaining everything about what happened earlier… in detail?" The voice boomed again from the table.
I shifted my body a bit and felt the ropes were really tight.
Aw crap. That's another familiar voice.

Edit/Author's Notes 7/10/2019: I updated Chapter 2 first because I saw a spelling error and wanted to correct it immediately. Anyways, the bottom half of chapter 2 is my return to this story. Let's keep it up!
I also took the decision to revert the age back to 17 as originally intended. I was writing this as I was growing up and wanted to Keito to represent me. However, I'll keep him at 17 because I want the ending to be the best twist ever.
Asato is also 17. The majority of the Naruto characters in Shippuden are 15-17ish if I remember correctly from the wiki. So we're in the same age group.
