Chapter one: Going In

Dicky and Dawn were lying lazily on the couch. The tv was playing some superhero movie they knew nothing about. Nicky was busy cooking dinner in the kitchen, so that left Ricky unaccounted for because Tom and Anne were grocery shopping.

"Is dinner ready? I'm starving!" Dicky shouted from the couch.

"Not yet!" Nicky shouted back from the kitchen.

For a while, all that filled the house was the sound of the movie and whatever it was Nicky was cooking in the kitchen. Suddenly, Ricky came running down the stairs with a glowing yellow box.

"Guys! Look at this!" he said with alarm in his voice.

Dawn barely turned her head, and Dicky just waved it off with his hand without looking at it.

"Shush, you're being too loud," is all Dawn said before turning her head back to the tv.

"Guys! This is serious! This is a glowing box that appeared out of nowhere!"

"Glowing?"

"Appeared out of nowhere?"

Dawn and Dicky actually looked at the box this time. Quickly, they jumped off the couch to go examine the mysterious box in Ricky's hands.

"What are you guys talking about?" Nicky asks as he walks out of the kitchen, drying his hands with a dishtowel.

Showing him the box he drops the dish towel and runs over.

"This is so cool!" Dicky said.

"What is it, though?" Dawn asks

"I have no idea! It just appeared in our room!" Ricky said frantically

"The glowing is getting brighter!" Nicky yelled loudly.

"Oh no! Maybe we shouldn't be this close to it!" Dawn yelled as the three backed away.

"I'm the one holding it!" Ricky said with panic.

"Drop it!" Dicky, Dawn, and Nicky said in unison.

"No way! This thing could break and-"

But Ricky never got to finish his sentence. The glow had grown and enveloped them all. Making them disappear into thin air. The Harper House now silent except for the tv.

Both Amy and Bob have to leave for work one Thursday night. Teddy is quickly on her phone with Ivy, PJ starts to watch tv, Gabe goes to his room, and Charlie is just playing with her toys. A little while later PJ was hanging out with Charlie not paying nay attention to the tv when Gabe came downstairs. He was watching his own show and ignoring his two siblings in a heartbeat. But soon Teddy came upstairs holding a glowing yellow box.

"Guys this doesn't seem good," she said showing them the box.

"Woah, what is that?" PJ asks

"I don't know it just kind of appeared in my bedroom."

"Looks cool," Gabe shrugged as he continued watching the tv.

"It's super weird," Teddy said, "I think I'm going to call mom about this."

PJ nodded and Charlie along with him. But before Teddy could get her phone the box began to glow brighter.

"Can that thing turn it down a bit?" Gabe asks as he squints from the brightness.

"I don't know," Teddy yells at him. Suddenly, they're gone. No one to be seen in the just full living room.

Jake and Sal are trying to solve a game of murder mystery. They've been getting boxes each time they solve the box before. The whole family had been working on the game for two months since they had started.

"If it happened at nine forty-five, Neil couldn't have done it," Jake pointed out.

"Except we don't know for sure he went to the hotel instead of killing John. There were no witnesses," Sal retorted

"Ugh," Jake grumbled.

"Hey, guys. How are you doing on the murder mystery?" Anika asks as she and Evie enter the rec room.

"Not good," Jake said, "Sal keeps trying to disprove that Neil didn't do it!"

"Well, he did have a grudge against John in high school," Evie pointed out.

"Yeah but that would be a ten-year-long grudge!"

"Well, killers are crazy," Sal said

"Guys! Check this out!" Max yelled as he ran into the room, Tess coming in behind him.

"Wow, that's really shiny!" Evie yelled as she pointed to the glowing box in Max's hand.

"What is that?" Anika asks

"We don't know. It just sort of, appeared," Tess exclaimed.

"Where?" Jake asks grabbing the box

"In the secret room," Max told them.

"Not the super secret room?" Anika asks

"Not the super secret room," Tess confirms

"Guys the box is getting brighter," Evie says.

"You're right," Sal says as he takes it from Jake and begins to examine it.

"What are you doing?" Anika asks

"Trying to understand the box," Sal says before they all disappear suddenly.

Ravi, Emma, and Zuri were watching a movie in the theater room when Luke came running in with something really bright.

"Luke get that out of here!" Emma yelled

"I can't see the movie with all that light!" Zuri complained

"But this just appeared out of nowhere!" Luke exclaimed

"What do you mean just appeared out of nowhere?" Ravi asks

"How many ways can I mean appeared out of nowhere?" Luke asked

"Well, what's in it?" Emma asks

"I don't know."

"I hope it's something expensive," Zuri says

"It's glowing is getting brighter," Ravi observed.

"What do you think we're supposed to do with it?" Luke asks

They all shrugged before disappearing with the box. The movie continued playing.

Harley was gathering all her siblings since both parents were gone for the time being. It took almost half an hour to settle everyone down long enough for her to show them a glowing box.

"Woah,"

"What's inside?"

"Why do you have that?"

"This glowing box just appeared out of nowhere," Harley said

"Why?" Georgie asks

"I have no idea."

"Then why are you telling us?" Daphne asks

"Because it seems important and I wanted to know if you guys knew anything," Harley said with a bit of frustration.

"Its glow is getting brighter," Ethan suggested

"Huh, weird."

"I wonder if it's magical?" Beast thought aloud.

"I hope it is now!" Louie said.

As all seven of them talked about the mysterious glowing box, no one seemed to notice the glow was increasing brightness faster and faster. Soon, the seven of them were gone, disappearing through thin air.

Booker and Levi were hanging out in their room. Talking about random stuff, when there was a knock at the front door. Soon Nia and Tess were by the boys' open door.

"What's up girls?" Booker asks as they walk in.

"I found the strangest thing in my apartment," Tess told them.

She lifted her hands to show the boys a glowing yellow box. They all froze and looked toward the box as if mesmerized.

"Woah," is all Booker could get out of his mouth

"What is it?" Levi asks

"No idea the thing just kind of popped up out of nowhere," Tess explained.

"But Tess, why did you come here?" Nia asks, "Wouldn't it be better to tell an adult?"

"My parents aren't home and it turns out neither are your moms!" Tess exclaimed.

"Can I see that?" Levi asks with his hands outstretched to the box.

"Sure Kid-lite," Tess said as she handed it over.

"Do you know why it's glowing?" Booker asks

"No! I don't know why it even appeared in my apartment! You guys are the ones with a psychic in the family!"

"Levi, what are you doing?" Nia asks as Levi pulls out a magnifying glass from a drawer.

"Examining the box," he said

They watch him as he turns it over in his hands, putting his eye up close to it with the magnifying glass.

"Be careful, though, the glow is getting brighter," Nia warned.

"Can it be opened?" Tess asked.

"I don't see any sort of latch," Levi said, setting down the box.

"Let me see," Booker said as he picked up the box. The box hit the ground as Booker had a vision.

"Wow! We must be in alternate realities!" said a boy.

"Huh?" was heard all around.

"Booker!" the other three yelled

Tess grabbed the box from the ground as Booker came out of his vision.

"Did you just have a vision?" Levi asked.

"Yeah, but I don't know who was in it. Or where I was."

"You? Meaning the rest of us weren't there?" Nia asks

"I don't think so."

"Guys it's getting real bright now!" Tess yelled right before the four of them vanished into thin air.

Billy and Nora were playing connect four in the living room while Phoebe read a book. Their parents were out so Phoebe was watching the younger kids. Everything was going fine until Max came upstairs with a glowing box.

"Guys, this thing just appeared in my lair."

"Haha. Very funny Max. We're not going to fall for your stupid prank," Phoebe said without looking up to see the box.

"Cool! How'd you make it glow?" Billy asks when he sees the box.

"I didn't make it glow! It just appeared. Out of nowhere!"

"Max, glowing boxes don't just appear out of nowhere-"

"-But this one did!"

"Can I hold it?" Billy asks.

"Sure," Max hands it over to Billy.

"Billy no!" Phoebe shouts, but nothing happens.

"What?"

"This isn't a prank?" Phoebe asks

"Nope. A glowing box just appears out of nowhere actually happened."

"That's so cool!" Nora shouts, "Can I open it?" she's already grabbing for the box.

"There's no opening, I tried before I came upstairs."

"Why is the glowing getting brighter?" Phoebe asks as she looks at the box.

"Hmm, don't know. Maybe somethings about to happen with it?" Max suggested

"What? Like, explode!" Phoebe screams, panicking.

"Uh, I don't know," Max shrugs.

"You two get away from the box!" Phoebe says right before they all disappear.
