I peeked around the corner as I came out of the Room of Requirement. Did it work? I headed for the stairs, with no destination in mind. Hogwarts had a different layout than in my time. A growing excitement raced through me at the possibilities and future destinations I had in mind if It had worked. I made sure to leave behind Slytherin tie and accessories in the room of requirement. I dressed in a simple black robe so no one would know what house I was in.
The war had been over twenty years ago. Everyone knew of the Battle of Hogwarts, Voldemort, and all that history. It was the one subject kids in History of Magic class didn't fall asleep in. I wondered if Harry Potter would be around? He must be if I got the time right. I heard he used to give lectures at Hogwarts, but not anymore. It was my favorite teacher, Professor Longbottom that told me of the room of requirement last year. I spent a lot of time around the room of requirement trying new rooms, what I could summon, and the possibilities. I had a bad habit of obsessing over things.
My friend Emma was a bookworm. I can still see the excitement in her eyes when I managed to manipulate the Room of Requirement into revealing the Lost Library of Alexandria. Though we didn't understand anything since the scrolls were all in another language. Emma is a Ravenclaw in case you didn't know. We are both currently in the second year of Hogwarts.
I turned a corner, not paying attention, and ran right into a boy, knocking us both on the floor.
"Oy be careful!" A red-haired boy next to him shouted too late.
"I am so sorry!" I blurted out, helping him up.
"It's okay." He said, brushing himself off.
I stopped and stared at the boy in front of me. Glasses, scar and all.
"Harry Potter?" I whispered in disbelief.
"Um... yeah?" He said.
"You're Harry Potter!" I said, slightly fangirling.
He frowned but remained polite.
"Can I touch it?" I asked excitedly.
Before he could respond, I reached out, rubbing the scar on his forehead. "Cool."
"Excuse me? What's cool? Can you please stop doing that?" He asked.
"Oh, sorry. Meeting you I mean." I said.
"Excuse me, who are you?" Hermione asked beside them.
I stared at a young version of a girl who in my time was the Minister for Magic. "I'm Sofia."
I smiled at her, and she smiled back thinking I was just being friendly.
I can't believe I'm here. I thought.
Just then a pudgy round boy joined them.
My eyes widened. "Professor Longbottom?"
"Professor?" Harry asked confused.
"I mean... I have to go." I said.
I spun around and ran up the steps two at a time, racing to get back. I probably left them very confused. I shouldn't have met him. Would Professor Longbottom remember all this? Did I mess up the timeline?
I put the rest of my Slytherin accessories on and realized I was just in time for Herbology as I returned. Nothing out of the ordinary anyway. Everything looks fine, no paradox. Great.
I raced out of breath to class and was early.
Professor Longbottom walked by as I looked him over for any accidental time changes. He looked normal anyway.
"Everything okay?" I asked him.
"Why are you looking at me like that? Did I forget my tie again?" Professor Longbottom asked.
He turned and headed for his desk as Emma took her usual place next to me.
"You missed lunch again. Messing about in the room of requirement like usual?" Emma asked.
I nodded with a laugh.
"You know, I think this year is going to be very exciting," She added.
"You have no idea," I said with a grin.
