That one time mistake chapter 1

Kurt looked down at the pregnancy test in his hand because he had been feeling awful

Kurt had always known that he could get pregnant his mom and dad had told him when he was five because he started asking questions and wanted answers about the stork and why can his friends have siblings and he can't.

That's when Burt and a tearful Elizabeth told him about her pregnancy with him and how awful it was and how that he had a special gene that will allow him to have his own kids. Kurt and Blaine met when they were nine because Blaine had moved with his family to Lima and they instantly became best friends with Kurt introducing Blaine to his friends Mercedes Jones Rachel Jackson-Berry and Nicholas Donlap and Jeffery Sterling or as he calls them Neff they all stayed friends even when Kurt's mom had passed away from a very bad accident and he had to be homeschooled because he couldn't handle it.

Kurt couldn't believe that he got himself pregnant he was a junior in high school and so was Blaine. How were they going to raise a child? Just then he heard a knock on the door.

"Kurt are you ok?Carole said that you have been in the bathroom all morning." Kurt heart fell in his chest when he heard the worry in Blaine's voice. "Kurt can I come in it's not like I haven't seen you naked before." That caused Kurt to start crying because it's what got them into this mess Blaine opened the door and ran right to Kurt. "Kurt sweetheart why are you crying?" Kurt showed Blaine the positive pregnancy test "How we always made sure to use condoms?" "I don't know but I know for one thing I'm not getting rid of it." "I was worried you would." Blaine help Kurt up to his feet and he couldn't help but pull Kurt in for a hug."We are going to be fathers." Little did they know Carole was getting ready for work and heard what Blaine had said. She hurried down the stairs and went to call Burt at his shop

"Hummel Tires and Lube Burt speaking"

"Burt it's me I need you to come home right away"

"Are you ok is Finn in the hospital again is Kurt in the hospital I knew we should have talk him into going to Dalton like Nick Jeff and Blaine"

"Kurt isn't in the hospital but we do need to talk with him and Blaine"

"I'm on my way" Burt was at the house by the time Kurt and Blaine were coming down the stairs. "Boys we need to talk to you." The couple looked at each other then at Burt and followed him to the living room. Where Carole was sitting

"What's going on?" "Your not in trouble but we want to make sure that you are really serious about this." "Carole what are you talking about dad do you know what she is talking about?" "No son I don't." "I over heard Blaine say that you guys are going to be parents is that true." Kurt and Blaine both shifted in their seats.

Burt waited for his son to deny it and this can all be over. But what he got was his son crying and Blaine rubbing his back "Kurt Elijah Hummel what were you thinking we have warned you over and over to be careful." "We were dad we must of forgot one time I'm sorry." "You had a bright future in front of you. What are you going to do with a baby? Because I doubt Blaine would stay with you what gay teenage guy or any guy for that matter would want to stay with you." "Burt may I speak." "What do you have to say for yourself even though you ruined my son's future?"

"I know I just found out about the baby but I know I would do anything for your son and the other father of my child and I know that Kurt and I will stay together." "Blaine you're the same age as Kurt right?" "Yes I'm three months older than him." "Burt I know you are mad but I wasn't that much older than them when I had Finn. Yes Christopher and I had our fights but we made sure that we were there for each other and I know that they would make great parents. How old were you and Elizabeth when you had Kurt?"

"We had both just graduated high school but I was already working at the shop so we had money." "Bingo. Kurt how much did you teach Blaine about cars?" "As much as I could while we were working so he just knows the basics." "Burt how much did you know when you opened the shop?" "I learned on the way and started partnerships with the Montgomery family because they knew a lot more and their oldest daughter had a son that was just two years older than Kurt."

Kurt and Blaine looked at each other because they didn't know that Kurt had known Wes when they were little "So Burt why don't you hirer Blaine I was so hurt that my parents or Christopher's parents didn't believe in us and it killed me because they didn't meet Finn until Christopher's funeral." "Fine Blaine you start tomorrow after school." "But I have warblers practice tomorrow." "What?" "The warblers dad it's Dalton's glee club Blaine and Neff are in it." "Who's Neff?" "Nick and Jeff dad I known them since I was in kindergarten." "Oh yeah Nick and Jeff tell them I said hi Blaine and that we miss them." "Who should I make the god mother and father?" "Well who have you known the longest?" "I met Mercedes Nick and Jeff in kindergarten and Rachel in first grade." "That's tuff all my friends from San Francisco all stopped talking to me when I came out."

Just then Finn came home from Rachel's and he saw his brother and his boyfriend sitting on the couch with their parents "What's going on are we having a family meeting?" "No Finn we are just talking to your brother and Blaine about something personal." "Oh ok I'm going downstairs and play my Xbox." Finn left the room and head to the basement."Kurt Blaine I want you to go tell Blaine's family and then we can talk about it."

The couple looked at each other because they knew that Blaine's father was homophobic. He and Blaine didn't get along and what will he do to the baby when he finds out about it. "Dad can we wait until I have my first ultrasound because I just took a pregnancy test and I want my child to be safe." "Fine Kurt but you do need to tell him because they would want to be in this baby's life." Blaine started laughing because he knew that when his parents and Cooper find out his mom and Cooper will be cool with it but his dad he didn't know what he would do. "Blaine what's so funny?" "My father would try to kill me."

Kurt eyes went wide when he heard Blaine say that he never did like his father but what is he going to do about it. "My dad barely let me go to Dalton. Kurt I'm glad and sad that you don't go to Dalton." "Why Blaine?" "They kick boys out and their boyfriends out if they find out that they have sex." "But with Neff together I wouldn't be surprised if they have sex."

"They do but they don't get caught because they share the same room so them going into their room together they think that they are going to study but no they are making out" "BLAINE DEVIN ANDERSON HOW DO YOU KNOW THIS DID YOU CHEAT ON ME WITH THEM" "no I walked in on them one time because I had to get notes from Nick because I went to visit you and Nick is in math with me" "would you get kicked out of Dalton?" "Only if somebody told on me but who would do that that knows both of us." "Your right. Dad I'm kind of tired are we good to go?" "Yes but Blaine make sure you are there tomorrow after Warbler practice because babies aren't cheap and you still need to go to college." "Yes sir." The couple went upstairs and into Kurt's room so they could lay together but with Burt home they have to leave the door open "Kurt how are you feeling about the baby"

Kurt looked up at Blaine from were he was laying on his chest "I'm glad that dad knows so all we have to do is tell the New Directions and the Warblers if you want to and tell your parents I'm scared about that but other then telling people I'm excited."

Just then Kurt felt sick to his stomach and ran into his bathroom because he didn't want to make the same mistake twice and he lost all his food that he ate this morning Blaine was right behind him rubbing his back and saying comforting words.

Once Kurt was done throwing up he stood up and went to lay back down on his bed. "Kurt what do you want the baby to call you?" "I don't know but I do know one thing." "what's that?" "that I love you." "I love you too. Oh shoot if I don't leave now I won't make it back for curfew I love you Kurt I got to go." "Text me when you can Blaine and before you leave can you get me some ice cream with hot fudge." "Ok I'll be right back but then I really have to go Kurt"

Blaine got Kurt's ice cream and was about to carry it upstairs when he saw Finn. "What's with the ice cream?" "I'm bringing it to your brother." "Will you make me some Blaine please?" "I really have to go back to school Finn but I promised Kurt that I would get him some ice cream now will you excuse me."

Blaine passed Finn on the stairs and headed for Kurt's room he looked into the room and saw that his boyfriend was on his laptop probably looking up the new Alexander McQueen scarf Blaine came into the room and was surprised that he had a long list of names on his word document. "Kurt I got your ice cream." "Thanks Blaine." Blaine handed the bowl to Kurt.

"That's a lot of names Kurt. What one do you like best?" "I'm thinking for a girl either Amber or Ashley but for a boy I don't know." "Well I hope you figure it out but I'm late leaving I got to go." Kurt looked over his list and thought real hard because he thought they all good names but he couldn't choose one he wanted to text Blaine to see what one he liked best but he knew that he would be driving and couldn't answer his text so he kept looking at the list it was an hour later when he felt his phone ring he looked down and saw it was a text from Blaine.

Just made it in time for curfew I hope you and the baby are ok

That's good and we are fine

I will see you after work

The next day after warbler practice Blaine was running late because Wes demanded that they have a two hour practice and he was running late but he already called Burt and told him that he was running late. Just then Blaine bumped into the head master "Mr. Anderson you know the rules. So why are you running in my halls?" "I'm so sorry sir I just was late for work because Wes ran practice and I really need to get to work." "I'll let it slide this one time Mr. Anderson have a good weekend." "You to Mr. Dalton." as Blaine ran to his car he texted Kurt back

I'm so not looking forward to telling your dad at least my dad knows and supports us

I know what you mean Kurt I got in trouble today

I was running in the halls because Wes ran practice late so I was late for work

Dad said that you have to come in at twelve tomorrow to make up for it btw will you bring home ice cream

Blaine looked up and saw that he was in the student parking lot he quickly got in his car and drove off but his phone fell out of his pocket "hey Nick it looks like Blaine forgot his phone" Nick came up to stand next to Jeff and saw he was right just then Blaine got a text message

I forgot to mention I have a doctors appointment on Monday at noon hopefully we both will be back for glee

the two couple looked at each other and didn't know what to say "I think we should drive to Lima and visit our good friend Kurt. What do you think Jeff?" "That's a good idea." Lucky Nick knew Blaine's pass code and got Kurt's number from his phone because he only had the house number and he was afraid that it was changed.

Hey Kurt it's me Nick what's your address not even two seconds later he got a text message back

Hey Nick and Jeff why do you need my address and how did you get my number not that I don't mind

I got it off from Blaine's phone because it fell out of his pocket

Oh and I still live at my house from when we were little you guys should stay for dinner I would love to introduce you to my stepmom and stepbrother Jeff grabbed Nick's phone and text Kurt on his phone

I don't know about Nicky but I would love to see ur dad again and this is my number so you have it

Kurt read the message over and over again but then disided to call the number because the person didn't tell him their name

"Hello"

"Jeff you should have told me it was you so I didn't have to call your number"

"Sorry Kurt"

"It's ok Jeff I just wasn't sure who it was I got to go my dad's shop is calling me"

"Ok bye Kurt love you"

"Love you too Jeff" Kurt got off the phone with Jeff and called back the tire shop

"Hummel tire and lube Ryan speaking"

"Ryan It's Kurt is everything ok with the shop and dad"

"Oh you were calling Burt back I'll go get him" Kurt wait a few minutes until he heard the sound of his dad's voice

"Kurt what did you tell Blaine because he is over here freaking out"

"Nothing he is probably just freaking out because he can't find his phone because he left it at Dalton oh that reminds me Nick and Jeff are coming over for dinner"

"Kurt you know that I hate having people over for Friday night dinners"

"Dad Nick and Jeff are like my brothers that I never had"

"Well next time ask me first"

"They were coming to Lima anyhow so why not be nice and invite them over for dinner that way they can meet Finn and Carole"

"Ok son I need to get back to the shop I love you"

"I love you too dad"

Kurt hung up his phone and went to text Jeff to see where they were at when there was a knock on the door Kurt got up and went to answer the door he saw it was Rachel. "Hey Rach I'll let Finn know that you are here." "No need Kurt I'm here to talk about you." "Me?"

His voice went up higher "Yes you Finn told me some interesting stuff about you and Blaine and I want to know if it's true don't worry I won't tell anybody." Kurt pulled Rachel inside and sat her down and went into the kitchen and got two bottle of water "So what did Finn tell you?"

Kurt fidgeted in his seat as he waited for Rachel to tell him what Finn told her. "That you are pregnant." "How did Finn even know?" "He told me that he heard you throwing up in the bathroom and asked Burt what was wrong with you at first your dad wasn't going to tell him but he begged him and finally he told him so are you pregnant." "Yes I am I was waiting to tell the new directions on Monday after my appointment." "How far along?" Before Kurt got to answer there was a knock on the door he got up and went to answer the door but felt sick so he ran to the bathroom instead yelling out for Rachel to open the door it's probably Nick and Jeff.

Rachel got to the door and saw a older version of her child hood friends "Hello Nicholas hello Jeffery" Nick and Jeff rolled their eyes at Rachel calling them by their full name. "Hey Rachel can we come in?" "Yeah sure."

Rachel sept aside to let them in. "Hey where's Kurt and Blaine?" "Kurt is in the bathroom but I don't know about Blaine." Just then Kurt came out of the bathroom "Hey guys dad Carole and Blaine should be home soon." Just then they heard somebody coming up the stairs "Hey Rachel I didn't know that we had a date tonight?" "We don't I was just talking to Kurt about what you told me."

Just then Finn noticed the two boys standing behind Kurt. "hey Kurt who is that?" "Those are my friends Nicholas Dunlap and Jeffery Sterling but they go by Nick and Jeff. Or as I call them Neff." "Oh well I'm hungry." "Your mom should be here soon so don't eat up a storm."

The four friends walked back to the living room and Kurt put on a movie it was a home movie that his mom made when he was six. "Oh my gosh Nicky your brother looks just like you. How did I still have my baby face?" Kurt looked over at him and said "That's because we were only six."

Just then a smaller version of Kurt ran up to the camera and started singing just then he was cut off by Rachel they saw the two sixs years old fight and then you heard the voice behind the camera say, "Kurt Rachel that's enough. How about you sing the song together?" "Momma it's not a duet it's a solo."

Kurt watched the home movie with sad eyes just then the door open "Kurt Honey I'm home." "In the living room Blaine." "Oh hi Nick Jeff." "Hey Blaine you forgot this at Dalton." Just then Kurt felt his phone vibrate he took it out and looked at what it said he looked at Blaine and mouthed me too.

They all went back to the home movie and just then the video Kurt said "momma I went potty" "good job Kurt now go back to your friends." They saw little Kurt run off and into this very living room just then they saw Nick throw paint at Jeff witch leads Jeff to throw paint at Nick but Nick used Kurt as a shield witch ends up with Kurt throw paint at everybody and it started a paint fight.

"I think we even have some on the floor to this very day." Kurt moved the coffee table and rug and you saw the pink red and blue paint on the floor. "My dad was so mad when he got home from work that he put us all in timeout and then Nick and Jeff couldn't come over for a week after and we had to find new ways to get along." "hey Kurt did your mom record any of our talent shows" "I don't know"

Kurt got up and started to look but before he could he heard his dad's voice "KURT ELIJAH HUMMEL WHY DID YOU MOVE THE COFFEE TABLE?!" "sorry Dad I was showing Blaine and the other the paint that me and Neff did when we were six." "Oh ok." Just then Blaine's phone went off

Hey squirt in town tomorrow going back Monday can't wait to see you

Blaine look at his phone then up at Kurt who was teasing Nick and Jeff just then Kurt leaped off the couch and ran into the bathroom and Blaine was right behind him "I wonder what's wrong with Kurt." Twenty minutes later Kurt and Blaine were walking back talking about Cooper's text message, "Kurt are you ok you know that you can tell us anything" that reminded him of the first time he told anybody that he might be gay it was when he and Neff were in middle school

Start of flashback

"Guys do you know what it means to be gay?" "no. Why?" "I heard a eighth grader say that he was." "Why were you asking?" They watched as Kurt started to blush "I think I love Blaine." "Like love him as a friend or more than friends?" Kurt looked down at his feet and still had that blush, "Kurt we have been best friends since kindergarten you can tell us anything." "I don't know Nick."

End of flashback

Kurt looked at Nick and all he could see was the concern in his eyes. "I'm pregnant." "wait did you say that your pregnant?"

Kurt nodded and looked at one of his best friends, "I thought you just ate something bad." Kurt and Nick started laughing just then they heard the front door open and Carole came into the living room she saw her stepson standing in front of a boy with brown hair and next to him was a blonde hair boy they were holding hands with it resting on the brown hair boy's lap finally Kurt stopped laughing and looked at her.

"Oh hi Carole, theses are my friends Nicholas and Jeffery but they go by Nick and Jeff guys this is my stepmom Carole." "It's nice to meet you and I'm glad that Burt found somebody after Elizabeth died." Carole caught sight of the paint on the floor "when did that happen" Nick Jeff and Kurt all looked at each other because how do you tell somebody it happened ten years ago.

Just then Burt came into the living room and sat down in his favorite chair "hi Honey how was work?" "When did you paint your house pink red or blue." "Kurt Nicholas Jeffery do you want to tell her?" Kurt Nick and Jeff looked at each other then Kurt sighed "When we were six Nick threw paint at Jeff so Jeff tried to throw paint at Nick but Nick used me as a shield so I threw paint at them so we had a paint fight."

Carole started laughing because imagining a six year old Kurt being ok with having his clothes messed up because Finn and Puck had their own paint fights and paint got everywhere.

"You should have seen my dad's face when he got home." "What the hell I was going to ask how much longer until dinner but what is that on the floor?" Carole looked over at her son who was looking at the paint that was splattered all over the floor, "Did somebody die in here and that's why it was always covered by the rug and coffee table?"

"No apparently Kurt had a paint fight when he was six with Nick and Jeff." "Nick do you and Jeff remember when we snuck downstairs and tried to eat some more of my birthday cake but my parents heard me sneez before we could even get to the stairs?" "Hey Kurt. Why didn't you do any of that with me and Mercedes?" "We would always start fighting and Sadies was to good to get in trouble with." "I'm having to much fun listening to Kurt's childhood to fix dinner lets order pizza" "don't forget a salad for Kurt" Burt got out of his chair and ruffled his son's hair

"DAD I HATE WHEN YOU DO THAT I have an idea instead of talking about my childhood lets watch home movies that's what we're doing before my dad saw that I moved the rug and coffee table oo here's one that I haven't seen in forever my first day of kindergarten." Blaine couldn't wait to see little Kurt Nick and Jeff because he met them in fourth grade.

Start of the home movie

"Momma I don't want to go to school. why can't I stay with you or at the shop with daddy?" "Kurt you are going to make so many friends look there's a little boy over there." just then you see a little version of Jeff come onto the screen "hi I'm Jeffery but everybody calls me Jeff. do you want to be my friend?" the boy didn't give Kurt a option and started pulling him over to where he was playing with a another little boy "Nicky this is um what is your name."

Kurt looked over at his mom who had followed over and was recording. "It's ok sweetie just tell him your name." "I'm Kurt Elijah Hummel." "oh hi Kurt." Just then Kurt got over his shyness and saw a little girl standing over by her mom and another little girl that had two dads Kurt ran over to the first little girl and introduce himself. "Hi I'm Kurt Hummel. What's your name?" "Mercedes Jones." "Do you want to play with me and my friends Nick and Jeff?"

Mercedes nodded and the two kids ran off and over to the dress up station "Hey Kurt do you want to play house with me?" "But how do we play house with three boys and one girl?" "I know me and Nicky can be married and you and um. What's your name again?" "Mercedes." "and you and Cedes can be married and these baby can be our children" "But can a baby have two daddies? Because my pastor and daddy says its wrong to have two mommies or two daddies." "Umh my mommy's best frind is a boy and he kisses anthor boy."

the four children play until the video cut to the end of the day "hey Kiddo did you have a good first day of school" Kurt got into his seat in the car and was going on and on about his first day of school

End of home movie

"Kurt I didn't know that Rachel was in your class" "she was but we didn't start talking until the next year because she was outgoing and as you saw and know I'm very shy I don't think if it was for Nick and Jeff I wouldn't have introduced myself to Mercedes" "hey Kurt I found our first talent show that we put on" Rachel ran over to the vcr and put the tape in

Just then you saw a seven year old Kurt Mercedes Rachel and Neff and another little boy, "Seb what is your talent?" "um my talent is um reading very well. What about you Nick?" "I'm a good friend and a good basketball player Jeff" "I'm a good dancer Rachel" "I'm a good singer and I want to be on broadway one day and" just then Kurt covered Rachel mouth "Mercedes" "I'm a good singer too and I want to be a pop diva when I'm older Kurt" "I'm also a good singer and I want to be a fashion designer or on broadway" just then they all started singing Michael Jackson black or white just then it skips to Kurt's eighth birthday party "mom show them around" just then you got to see Kurt's mom and what she looked like before the accident and she was describing everything in the room and then you get to Kurt's room and it was what you expect for him after the house tour they went out to the back yard and all his friends and classmates from school where there.

Blaine look over and saw Kurt crying so he pulled him into his chest and pat his back after he settled down Blaine asked him, "Why are you crying love?" "I miss her very much she will never see her grandkids or anything because of a drunk driver." Burt looked over at his son and it hurt his heart to see Kurt so sad he would of wish it was him that been in the car and his wife at home with a sick Kurt. "I know you miss her Kurt I do too."

Burt got out of his favorite chair and pulled his son up from where he was sitting on the couch and the two hugged "Dad I think I'm tired I'm going to go to bed. Neff do you want to stay the night Blaine is?" "Sure Kurt." Kurt Blaine Nick and Jeff went upstairs and into Kurt's room. "I tried to pull myself into sleeping in the basement but I couldn't so Finn use it as his room and a gaming room because it's huge." Kurt got the spare mattress from the hall closet and put it in his room and laid down on it "it's big enough for the four of us even though my bed is bigger" they all laid down and was out not even a second later.
