Yet another excuse of a high school AU. Yippee!

This is just a placeholder while I'm on hiatus so no one steals this.

I think it'll probably take place in the Four Nations.

The school will be located at the very edge of the Earth Kingdom - originally, the school was to be located in Ba Sing Se, but Firelord Ozai intervenes and demands that the school be closer to the other nations to emphasize the unity of the world - in reality it is a poorly disguised attempt to hold further sway over the school.

A war had plunged the world into chaos. With the disappearance of Avatar Roku, the world's beloved champion, the Four Nations became split. Although the Air Nomads had begged for peace and negotiation, the other three nations paid no heed, and tensions escalated to violence. This war, continuing for a decade, is costly, and after countless losses - most notably of Ozai's wife, Hakoda's wife, etc. - the tired, beleaguered nations finally acquiesce to Air Nomad pressure and begin peace talks, drafted by the airbenders. An institution was introduced to prevent such a calamity from occurring again - an institution to house the best, most influential children of the Four Nations, to come together, to create a syncretic, unified culture that would serve as an example - as well as an insurance - against the possibility of another war. As the Earth Kingdom was by far the largest, and was closest to the center of the world, it was agreed upon that the school would be at the edge of the Earth Kingdom, the midpoint between the North and South Pole, the nexus of the diagonals of the four Air Temples, and most importantly, readily accessible via the naval pathways of the Fire Nation, the most industrialized and technologically advanced of the Four Nations and the most prominent sponsor of the school.

One year has passed since the introduction of the school, which teaches the basic core subjects of the Fire Nation (reading, writing, arithmetic, history), and includes other lessons that students may wish to pursue. Meanwhile, at the South Pole, a certain Watertribe girl is elated to receive her invitation letter to the school...
