Ten years had passed, and I now had two boys. Zaon and Sora were both Braska's, and not a day went by without me thinking about him. But nothing could prepare me for what would happen.
The sun beat down on my face when I awoke. In a panic I searched for my boys, only to find myself on the shore of Besaid.
"Not this again!" I cried frustrated. I brushed the sand off of my outfit, which happened to be the one I had last time I noticed. I looked out to the sea, and saw something bobbing in the water. Crap, it was Tidus! Time to go. So thankfully my daggers were still in my pocket, and I had my magic skills. Even if they were rusty.
As I ran toward the village, I ran into Wakka. I quickly made the excuse that Sin was nearby, and ran past him. I needed to get to the village without any delays.
As I approached the village, I heard yelling. It was a voice from my past...ten years to be exact. I had returned from my first trip in Spira with my son Zaon and unknowingly carrying Sora, when he kicked me out of his place. It had taken a while to get on my feet for Zaon and Sora, but I did it. I didn't want anything to do with him, but I couldn't leave him in Spira alone.
"He got too close to Sin. He protected me from the toxin. I have come to Besaid to become a summoner. He is my guardian." I called out over the racket he was making. As soon as he saw me, he ran over to me and opened his mouth.
"Later!" I hissed at him, and his mouth closed. That spurred Luzzu and Gatta into action. They took off towards the beach.
I grabbed him, and led him towards the temple. That is when the priest recognized me.
"Lord Braska's wife! You are Roselyn right? Lady Yuna is inside the trials. Will you be joining her?" He asked and I nodded. He ushered me into the temple and asked me if I was also here for the gil.
"Yuna will need travel money, as will I. My sons and I were separated when Sin attacked. And yes my sons are both Lord Braska's. So the money will be needed for our journeys." I told the priest. He nodded and told me it would be ready by nightfall. Then he gestured to the trials, and asked if I was ready to become a summoner.
I motioned my guardian to follow me, and entered the trials. When we were safe behind the doors, I started to explain.
"This is where I was ten years ago. Billy, now there is a boss named Sin that we have to defeat. It is a long journey, but I figure it is better that leaving you here. If you are willing to follow me, then follow me thru this trial. If not, exit now and you will be left in Besaid." I told him as I touched the glyph that would allow me to enter the trials proper.
I walked down the stairs that appeared, and halfway down I grabbed the Glyph sphere. That is when I noticed that Billy was following me, and I smiled.
"So you made your decision I take it?" I asked him. He said he did, and he told me that I was the best way to get home since I was here before. I laughed as I walked down the second set of stairs to the door.
Putting the sphere in the door, I turned to him. He just motioned me to continue, as if he had no more questions. This scared me. But I turned back around as the doors opened. Taking the sphere again, I walked down the corridor to the first door on my left. I placed the sphere in the recess, which revealed the destruction sphere. I grabbed it and handed it to Billy.
I entered the corridor again and walked until I saw the glyph on my right. I touched the glyph and the wall disappeared, showing the Besaid sphere that I needed. I turned around and saw the pedestal recess, and walked over to it. Placing the Besaid sphere into the recess, I pointed to where the Besaid sphere was.
"Place the sphere you are holding there, and wait for me." I told him, lost in thought. What if it wasn't what I expected in the hidden chest? But I guess I would have to find out. Billy put the destruction sphere in the recess, and there was a loud boom.
I walked over to where I knew the chest would be, and found it. I opened the chest carefully and when I saw what was inside, tears started running down my face.
I picked up the familiar staff and after a moment, turned around and returned to where Billy was waiting. I made sure he didn't see my face, and motioned him to follow me. I gave the pedestal a big push and it moved only a couple of inches.
I pushed my heart out, and soon the pedestal clicked into place. I grabbed Billy's arm and pulled him onto the lift. And not a moment too soon. The lift sprung into action and down we went.
As I walked into the antichamber, a woman in all black sprung up and looked at me. It was Lulu, and for a second I wanted to hug her.
"I am Rose, and I am here to become a summoner. The precepts have been obeyed." I told her. Her eyes lingered on my face, then she opened her mouth.
"You! I remember your face, but I can not remember from where." She exclaimed, as if looking to me for the answer. I chuckled dryly, and looked away. I settled down on the other side of the room and waited.
Two hours later, the lift sprung back into life. I knew it was Tidus and Wakka on that lift, but said nothing. As soon as Lulu saw Wakka, she started in on him. I motioned Billy to stay put, and started walking towards the door to the Fayth.
As soon as the door opened, Yuna walked out and stumbled over a stair. Kimarhi caught her and after she righted herself, she spoke.
"I have done it! I have become a summoner!" She looked around and saw me. Her mouth dropped open, and in a flash she was in front of me.
"You are keeping a promise, are you not?" She breathed. So she did recognize me, even after ten years. I nodded and pulled out the staff that I had found. It was Braska's staff.
