A/N: This was the upcoming reverse AU I was talking about, basically Lawrence (who for those of you who don't know is Beetlejuice in the musical that's what they say his real name is) is a 20 year old man who just moved into a big house in rural Connecticut, he falls through the floor dies and it all goes to hell from there. Content warning (for the whole story) : mature themes/suggestive themes (nothing too bad just some mild flirtatious remarks, some mild unwanted advances etc) death is mentioned throught the story along with su*c*de so if that's triggering for you, you may not want to read this, off course I will put a content warning at the start of each chapter but just letting you know now. Leave a comment or like this story if you want more it helps me stay motivated! Sorry for the rant enjoy-Ella
Lawrence found himself standing above a giant hole in the floor, he had just moved into his new house in Connecticut he was supposed to live there with a couple of friends from college for a couple of months but they had all bailed on him. So here Lawrence was all alone in a massive house in random rural Connecticut, staring at a hole in the floor that he had just fallen into not many moments prior. As the dust settled around Lawrence he peered into the hole trying to see how far he had fallen, much to his dismay, in the darkness of the hole he saw a shape oddly resembling a body. Why was there a body in the basement? How had he survived the fall? How had he climbed back up? It was all too much for Lawrence to process, as he walked over to his couch to sit down and try to mull over what had just happened, a pair of voices seemed to drift in behind him he couldn't make out what they were saying at first but as they got closer he could hear them bickering, it sounded somewhat like a man and a woman but the voices were gravely and subhuman,
"Hello?" Lawrence called out, his voice trembling. The couple fell silent for a moment. "Hello? Is there someone here. I thought I heard you" Lawrence asked again, swallowing his fear trying to sound braver. He heard the m'oublient resume but in a more urgent manner, he could only make out bits and pieces of their conversation.
"Is he a breather?" He heard the man whisper, "he's quite handsome" Lawrence heard a shuffle of feet and something smacking something else, it sounds like whoever the woman was did not approve of this comment.
"Well what if he can help us? What if he's the key" he heard the woman say, after a bit off inaudible mumbling back and forth between the two of them "so what if he's a breather" she said in a sharp tone, there was that word again 'breather' what could they possibly mean by that.
"Wait did you see the hole in the floor?" The man said. He couldn't hear much for a little bit after that, so he decided to get a little closer. He figured the sound must be coming from the kitchen so he pressed his ear up against the door.
"He's clearly dead not much use to us now" the woman said bitterly, who's dead? What do they mean? Lawrence's mind spun with the possibility's, he decided he must hear the rest of the conversation as he moved to a spot where he could hear the goings on in the kitchen better.
" he is a snack though" said the man suggestively, another falling of feet and a slapping noise. Whoever the woman was she was not messing around.
"Focus, What are we going to do about him, if he finds the handbook and makes it to the other side he'll rat us out to Juno" the woman said in an urgent tone
"I never liked her, she's scary, even for a mother in law" the man said shuddering, Lawrence was very confused by this conversation, and he knew It was something he Probably shouldn't be listening into but his curiosity got the best of him at times.
"What if we get him to help us, well help him by getting the people out of his house and he'll help us" the woman said in a tone that sent shivers down his spine.
"But there's no one is the house?" The man said confused, the woman laughed coldy
"There always is. Just you wait" she said with a sneer.
