The Beginning:
As he slowly awoke from his slumber, a boy with a darker brown hair, slowly got out of his bed, checking the time, 7:30AM. He looked over to the calendar hung up upon one of the walls, 1 day away from him finally getting a pokémon. He yawned as he got dressed. He slowly pulled his yellow beanie on his head as he exited his room, walking downstairs into the kitchen, switching on the light, noticing it was empty. "Oh, guess mom already left, dad too. Just another day with parents at work. Now what to do today?" He said to himself as he got out his breakfast, which was cereal.
This boy was James Ikoria. Him and his family lived in the Hoenn Region. He lived in Rustboro City, about a 7-minute walk away from the Professor's Lab in Littleroot Town, he wasn't too excited to get a pokémon until the day where he would get one. For the past 10 years of his life, he had always wanted a pokémon of his own. Soon, that time would come, but who knows which starter he'll pick. Torchic, Mudkip, or Treecko?
Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. James had just finished his breakfast, he quickly put his bowl and spoon away, while putting the cereal box in the cupboard, walking over to the door and opening it, revealing a girl with short-ish blonde hair with a red hoodie, with jeans.
"Heya James." The girl said to James. "Oh, heya Marie." James said to the girl. James quickly walked over to one of the couches that sat in the living room and sat down. "So am I allowed to come in or?..." Marie asked, looking at James through the door. "Oh, my bad, yeah come in." James replied to her. Marie walked in and sat on the other couch, she was a bit excited as tomorrow, she'd start her journey as a pokémon trainer with her greatest rival, since middle school. "Hey Marie, how come you didn't start last week?" James asked, confused about something. "What do you mean James, start what?" Marie replied.
"Well, you were able to get a pokémon a week ago, so how come you didn't get one?" James asked. "Well, you can't start an adventure without a rival can you?" Marie replied. "Well, you've got a point there. All the great pokémon trainers have had rivals, like Gary and Red. Gold and Silver. But I thought you liked getting ahead of people."James said, telling Marie. "Yeah, well, that was a younger more silly me." Marie replied, sounding a little annoyed. "Well, I'm going to go now, have a good day." Marie said as she got up off the couch and out the door. "Bye then."
After Marie had left, James turned on his TV and began switching over to one of the channels, he was too bored. He let out a sigh as he waited for the day to pass.
