Under the hot sun, a herd of Edmontosaurus was grazing peacefully, a few guards keeping a wary eye on their surroundings, ready to sound the alarm in case one of them spotted a predator.

The Edmontosaurus' were right to be wary, for they were being observed. From the shelter of trees and shrubs, a pair of amber eyes in black sockets watched the herd, flitting from the guards to the grazers. They needed the perfect timing and right target for this hunt to be successful. The eyes suddenly snapped to a female Edmontosaurus wandering away from the safety of the herd.

Target found, the eyes retreated further into the forest to follow its prey.

The lone female Edmontosaurus soon stopped in another grazing spot far from the herd. She wasn't too young or too old and perfect for bearing young, or at least, she liked to think so. The female was hoping to catch the eye of a male Edmontosaurus she fancied this mating season.

The Edmontosaurus' thoughts of her future screeched to a stop when the bushes nearby rustled. She tensed, head rearing up and scanning her surroundings as she scented the air, nostrils flaring.

She shifted on her feet, eyes still moving across the clearing and realizing just how far she went. Deciding the safety of the herd was the best option, the female slowly started to step back while keeping an eye on her surroundings when she caught the faint hint of white in a sea of green and brown.

Pupils turning to pinpricks, the female Edmontosaurus threw caution to the wind and started to sprint back to the herd. Her relief was imminent when the herd came into view and she came to a stop at the edge of the herd. A few Edmontosaurus noticed her panicked state and came over.

"What's wrong, Lerih?" Jeko, another female Edmontosaurus questioned.

"Thought I saw-" Lerih was cut off by a thumping sound.

Everything was a blur. The cry of the guard's alarm. Dust rising in the air as everyone stampeded. Pain went through her neck, followed by a crack then darkness.
