The Talk

"Serve Protect and Don't Screw Up"

Andy smiled at Oliver as he said this looking directly at her before standing up and making her way out of parade she could barely believe what had happened in the past few days not only had she married the man she loved Jarvis had kept 15 Division unchanged with the exception of Duncan who was now at 27 Division and Nick who had gone on a undercover assignment Dov had been promoted to detective in training whilst she Gail and Chris were made training officers for some new rookies.

Andy was nervous about being a TO after what happened with Duncan but she also new that Oliver would not have made her one had he thought she was not truly ready she met her rookie officer Hannah Connor by the desk she looked on edge and really nervous Andy smiled at her "Are you ready" she asked Connor nodded and they made there way to the squad car.

Andy decided to go easy on her rookies first day letting some of the other units answer the shots fired call that came in from Richmond she just wanted to ease into her new position and build up a relationship with her quiet and nervous looking rookie.

It had been a quiet hour or so out on shift for Andy and Connor barely any words were spoken between them Andy deciding enough was enough and knowing that the only way they could work together effectively was to have an open and good line of communication pulled into a cafe car park she turned to look at Connor before saying "Me and you are going to have a little chat"

At hearing this her rookies face became extremely nervous it did not go unnoticed by Andy who smiled before saying "It's nothing to worry about i just need to make sure we can communicate and work together before a major call comes through"

Hannah took a beep breath and her face relaxed she understood what McNally was trying to do if it was the other way around and she was training her she would like to know if they could work together.

It wasn't self doubt in her ability to be a police officer that terrified her it was something that in her mind was far worse during her time at the academy she had heard the stories and successes of what had become known as 15 Division's fab 5 Gail Peck Traci Nash Chris Diaz Dov Epstein and Andy McNally how was she supposed to live up to them let alone tell her about her feelings but they needed to work together so she nodded before she and Andy headed into the cafe for The Talk.

Ten minutes later they were sat at a table each with a coffee in hand Andy began "Six years ago I was in the exact same position just out of the academy worried if i'd fit in at the division plus I had my fathers reputation to try to and live up to" she stopped for a moment to take sip of her drink "Am I right about how you are feeling?"

After a couple of minutes Hannah took a breath and started talking "Yes during my time at the academy I showed that I have the ability to do this job but..." she stopped not sure she wanted to say the next part.

"But" Andy prompted

After another breath she continued "During our time in the academy Zettel Fox and I would hear the stories of what you Detective Nash Epstein Diaz and Peck had accomplished then you took down Commissioner Santana and we found out we were being assigned to 15 and I started to think how can I live up to that"

Andy thought for a moment then spoke "Don't think about what I've done you just need focus on you It's my job to guide and support you so that you can go out there and make your own stories"

They smiled at each other Hannah was feeling more comfortable being with Andy and after a few more minutes they got up and left heading back to the squad car they had just pulled out of the car park and onto the road when a call came across the radio "ALL AVAILABLE UNITS ROBBERY IN PROCESS AT DOWN TOWN BANK"

Andy picked up the radio "1503 ON ROUTE" she flicked on the lights and sirens.
