"I think your obsession with Sasuke is dumb," a voice from above said. The group of girls(and two boys) looked up and found themselves staring at a large mop of pink hair. It was Haruno Sakura, the weirdo of the class.
Actually, that was incorrect. There were several weirdos in the class. Like the blonde all their parents tell them to stay away from, the quiet boy who always had bugs hovering around him, and the shy girl with no pupils.
Sakura just happened to be another one of them. Unlike the vast majority of "fangirls" as she dubbed them, she spent most of her time studying and training instead of watching the stuck-up Uchiha boy. Many of their teachers would've called her a model student had they not passed over her in favor of the clan children.
However, she didn't stop. Sakura persisted, using the teacher's ignorance as motivation. She would make them see. She would become a kunoichi worthy of praise.
And this is how she found herself arguing with the group, standing on the vertical wall of the academy.
"But Sasuke is so good at everything!" someone says in defence.
"Then practice. If you want to be skilled then stop wasting your time."
"But we're not!"
"Nevermind. Trying to help you be stronger was a waste of time." the pinkette says coldly, before walking up the side of the building to the roof.
-Time Skip no Jutsu!-
Sakura looked up from her book on genjutsu with a raised eyebrow.
It was the day her genin team was assigned, and she was ready. Dressed in a simple dark turquoise battle kimono top with trim that matched her eyes and thick navy stockings, as well as the standard shinobi sandals, and finally her forehead protector tying her hair back. Her long pink hair down her back.
She was on a team with the blonde idiot and the last Uchiha the other girls keep fawning over. Typical team of the highest-scoring student, highest-scoring kunoichi, and the lowest grades in the class. But seriously? This would make everything more difficult. The other girls would get all jealous and give her a hard time, Ino would be a respectful butt about it as usual, and her teammates just don't have the right mindset. She had a feeling it just wouldn't work out.
Oh, she'd certainly try, but if something bad happens and they don't have adequate teamwork, she'd be appealing to Lord Third for a new team faster than Lord Fourth could teleport.
She narrowed her eyes in warning at the nearest fangirl, as they looked like they were about to attack her, and went back to her book.
Perhaps she could use the genjutsu she was reading about to make them stop.
-Kakashi takes too long-
"Shut up Naruto!" Sakura shouted "I'm trying to study! You can play your pranks silently, but if you don't, I'll make your hair look like Sasuke's again!"
Not wanting Duckbutt hair like the last time, Naruto quickly quieted down and began picking his ear. But that was a story for another time.
Finally, after three hours, Sakura's sensei arrived. Their chakra felt lightning-natured, but with an interesting mix of the other four, and barely any wind. Hmm, and a strange chakra in their left eye. It was either a Hyuga with an eye missing, or maybe the famous Kakashi of the Sharingan.
And indeed, when the eraser fell, it hit a silver-haired jonin's head. So it was Kakashi of the Sharingan. This could be a good opportunity, if the man lived up to his name. He could teach her a lot.
"Ha! That's what you get for being so late!" Naruto announces. Sakura would give him a pass this time. That was very appropriate.
Their sensei scanned the room. "I think," he starts. "That I don't like you. Meet me on the roof." He shunshins away, presumably up to the roof.
Was he planning on failing them, like he did his previous teams? What a let down.
No. The pinkette would not let that happen. She'd spent six years here already and it's been a waste of time. She could perform the academy three flawlessly, as well as many genin-level jutsu. All she needed to work on was her chakra capacity- at the moment she wasn't able to execute any more than three great fireballs consecutively. But just being able to is far higher than many genin's capabilities.
"That jerk-" Naruto begins, growling angrily. "How dare he be three hours late then say he doesn't even like us!"
"Idiot, you hit him with an eraser. Besides, how could anybody like you?" Sasuke counters.
"Sasuke! How dare you!"
Sakura quickly sealed her study materials into a formula on her sleeve, and strode past the bickering genin.
Upon reaching the roof and locating their team leader, Sakura frowned in disapproval and shock. The famed Kakashi was just sitting on the edge, reading that awful book in public. No self-respecting person Sakura had ever heard of would do such a thing.
The pinkette sat, and prepared herself. She could tell this was going to be one hell of an experience.
A few minutes later, the blonde and the duckbutt arrived in silence, faces turned away from each other. Great. They were barely tolerable when they were surrounded by other people, and now with two people who really didn't want to get into that- they would never work as a team.
Kakashi doesn't look up from the book as he talks. "Now that we're all here, let's introduce ourselves. You know, like what you like and dislikes, your dreams for the future, hobbies. That kind of thing."
"You go first," Sakura insists.
"Alrighty. I'm Kakashi Hatatake. What I like and hate… I don't really feel like telling you that. My dreams for the future… never really thought about it. As for my hobbies, I have lots of hobbies."
"THAT DIDN'T TELL US ANYTHING!" all three genin yell this time.
"Well that doesn't sound like my problem," Kakaashi says.
"Me next!" Naruto shouts. "I'm Uzumaki Naruto! I like cup noodle ramen, and especially the ramen Iruka-sensei treats me to at Ichiraku's! I don't like the three minutes you have to wait for instant ramen to cook. And my dream is to become Hokage! Then everyone will stop ignoring me and treat me like I'm worth something!"
Sasuke and Sakura roll their eyes. Then it's Sakura.
"My name is Sakura Haruno. I like books and helping other people who want it. I dislike Sasuke's fangirls and people in general who waste their time on useless things." Was that a flicker of approval in Sasuke's eyes? Well those fangirls were terribly annoying. "My hobby is studying and training. My dream is to make sure that Kunoichi get the respect they deserve."
"My name is Sasuke Uchiha. I hate many things, and I don't particularly like anything. What I have is not a dream, because I will make it a reality. I will avenge my clan by killing a certain someone."
"Well, you all sound very unique. Meet me at eight tomorrow at training ground three for a survival exercise. Also, don't eat breakfast. You'll throw up."
