Adam's Memories

Adam is having reacurring dreams and nightmares of three years ago, and can't seem to get past them. All the while dealing with his five children, father and working on the Ranch, it seems to be getting to the point where he needs to go and see someone about this and sooner than he thought.

1. Chapter 1

' Adam's Memories'

Chapter 1

It happened again, Adam woke up in a sweat, and in a fright. He had, had these memories in his dreams for three years now, ever since his wife died in a horrific accident that winter when the stage went off the road when the roads were icy.

Adam asked her not to go, however she was a specialist in her profession and one of her patients in Placerville was having trouble with her pregnancy and needed to go to her. Eve was a women's doctor, the first in the western states and she was always busy with that as well as taking care of her family. Adam and Eve had five children together, Silas and Simon who were ten year old twins, Eve Elizab eth , his daughter who was now eight years old, Luck six, and Asher, now four years old. He didn't really know his mother as he was only a year old when she died.

Adam hadn't been with anyone since that terrible day three years ago. He had moved out of the house he had built for his wife and family. He just couldn't live there any longer with the memories in that house. Adam didn't know if he could ever love any women again after Eve. He moved into his father's house who was married to Joyce now. They helped take care of the children while Adam was at work with his brothers on the many different contracts they had in the mill and lumber companies, and of course their cattle operations and horse operations.

Adam was now forty, almost forty one, and still having nightmares..."OH dam it. Why am I still having these dreams? It has been three years now."

Ben came into his room..."Son, are you alright.?"

"OH, sorry Pa, yes I'm fine now. I just need to get some air is all."

"All right son. If I can help, I am here. Or maybe you should talk to someone else to help you through this."

"Ha, ha, you mean like a head doctor don't you, Pa.?"

"Son! Well, I'll let you go and get some fresh air and hopefully get some more sleep."

"Yah, thanks Pa."...Adam slipped his pants on and went out to check on the horses, Sport in particular.
