The Ultimate Limiter

Author's Note (feel free to skip):

Well howdy people who might actually read this thing.Hope you're havin a great day.

I don't own the Freezing anime, manga, or anything else related to Freezing.

And with the formalities out of the way, let's get this show on the road.

"Don't let your past define who you are today" -unknown

The Showcase

"...and this is our final stop for the day, the 1st year boys dorms."

"T-Thank you again for showing me around!"

"No problem at all. If you ever have any questions, just call."

"Ok! I just hope I don't become too much of a bother…"

Chiffon giggled,

"Nonsense. Anyways, I'll see you around, Kazuya Aoi."

And with that out of the way, Kazuya Aoi entered his dorm.

'She's pretty cute...'

'...who am I kidding. I don't have a chance anyways'

Smooth granite halls were lined with brand new wallpaper. The halls were large, with rows of rooms around every corner.

Kazuya found his room on the 2nd floor. A scanner popped out of the wall and detailed Kazuya's face.

'It's almost like a hotel, just without a lobby'

The probe retracted as the door clicked.

All the lights were off, but by now, it was fairly late in the evening.

He didn't mind though. Kazuya has had great night vision ever since he could remember.

The room was nicer than he imagined, housing ornate decor and two massive beds. It was already fully furnished and everything.

He moved to the empty bed, still surprised at just how big it was. He judged it a king sized, where his bed back home was merely a twin. His luggage was already in the room, so he face-planted onto the bed, ready for sleep. Dealing with unpacking was a job for future Kazuya.

His eyes were drawn over to the bed on the opposite side of the room. He saw someone he never thought he'd lay eyes on again. Arthur Crypton. Despite the butterflies in Kazuya's chest, he decided it wouldn't be polite to wake him.

Kazuya was so excited to finally have a friend again.

The next day

Arthur was gone when Kazuya awoke.

'Maybe he was just in a rush… didn't want to wake me up early...'

Kazuya got food from the cafeteria after a few of his classes. It was lunch time, after all. Then he saw a blonde haired limiter about his height sitting down. He immediately recognized him as an old childhood friend.

Kazuya immediately picked up his tray, and approached the table Arthur sat down at.

"Arthur Crypton? Is that really you!?"

He looked up with a smile on his face, but there was a look in his eye as his smile slightly faltered.

"Hello. Do I know you?"

That...made Kazuya pause.

Sure, it had been nearly five years ago, but surely Arthur hadn't forgotten him already.

"It's me...K-Kazuya."

Kazuya's face began to turn a shade darker in embarrassment.

They were starting to garner looks, as the tables near Arthur's listened in on the exchange.

"Oh yea! Of course! Kazuya. Take a seat! how have you been?"

Kazuya caught his slight sense of panic, and had to face the facts.

Arthur had no idea who he was.

Kazuya and Arthur got caught up, which took a while, and started out rather awkwardly. It turns out Arthur did remember Kazuya, they were in the same friend group in elementary. Kazuya just had to jog his memory a bit. They were still talking when all the students cleared out of the way, giving a busty blonde an abnormal amount of space to walk in. Frantic whispering erupted all around them.

Kazuya turned back to Arthur,

"Who is that?"

"That's the first ranked second year, Satellizer El Bridget, better known as the 'Untouchable Queen.'"

"Whenever someone touches her, intentionally or not, she gets unnervingly violent."

"She's bad news. Avoid here at all costs."

"Wow, she sounds dangerous."

"Don't say that so loud! Are you trying to get us killed?!"

*smack*

"I-I-I'm s-sorry..."

It was just like the old days...

The next day

"I have gathered you all here, the top ranking pandora of West Genetics, to bear witness to something truly amazing."

Sister Margaret stood before six pandora gathered in a large, underground training facility. Situated in a viewing box with screens covering the far wall, those present wouldn't miss a single moment of the action. They were the top three ranked second and third year students. There was Cassandra, Chiffon, Elizabeth, Satellizer, Lana, and Genessa, staring out at a lone limiter standing in the center of the training grounds.

"Why are we so far up, Cassandra?"

"...So that we don't get caught up in any of the action..."

Sister Margaret spoke up,

"Begin the simulation."

Out of thin air, three type R Nova appeared ten feet from the limiter. When the Nova began their approach, he threw up a hand and commanded,

"Freezing!"

A red webbed pattern shot out and extended over the entire training facility. This completely froze the Nova in their tracks. Now immobilized, the three Nova began forming three separate beams pointed at the alone limiter.

"That poor limiter! He'll be killed out there!"

Cassandra moved in preparation to save the boy's life, but the principal's hand blocked her path.

"Have faith."

Cassandra locked her jaw. Resigning herself to the fact that she was about to watch a young boy die.

As the three beams sped across the open expanse to end the limiter's life, he brought up his other arm, and shouted,

"Blood barrier!"

A red tinted barrier, looking like it was made of glass, appeared right in front of the lone limiter. He knew exactly how big it was at the tip of his fingers. This particular barrier was 7 feet tall and 4 feet wide, movable wherever the teen adjusted his arms.

When the first Nova blast hit it, the limiter winced under the incredible pressure, but after a momentary struggle, the beam was dissipated and absorbed. Kazuya's barrier grew larger.

The next two blasts came at his sides, so he quickly moved his barrier from right to left, effortless despite its size. The last two beams met the same fate as the first, adding to his barrier's size. By the end of the exercise, his shield was an impressive 14 feet long by 7 feet wide.

The simulation Nova disappeared into thin air, and he released his massive shield, along with the built up essence he captured from the Nova. He was bathed in a shower of red particles.

Sister Margaret pressed a finger to the intercom system,

"Great work, Kazuya. Come on up."

She then turned to the rest of them and announced,

"Pandora of West Genetics, this is our brand new, first year transfer student, Kazuya Aoi."

…...

…...

…...

Elizabeth was the first to recover from her shock.

"Wait just one minute."

"How can a first year limiter, that hasn't even gone through the academy yet, be able to cast a freezing, easily doubling our best limiter's distance, and craft a barrier able to withstand thousands of pounds of pressure, in the blink of an eye?!"

"Don't forget about how he stopped all three Nova with a single freezing cast."

The headmistress just smiled and said,

"It is truly a miracle beyond miracles."

"But why don't you ask the boy yourself?"

Kazuya walked over, looking quiet uncomfortable because of all the attention.

"...H-Hello...?"

'So timid for such a strong boy'

"Kazuya, you have truly been blessed by the gods."

"Now, let me introduce you to our best and brightest. This, here, is Cassandra Elixtion, our first ranked third year."

She stepped out from the line.

"It's so nice to meet you."

They shook hands.

'Wow, her eyes are beautiful'

The headmaster continued, breaking Kazuya and Cassandra out of their trance,

"This is Chiffon, the 2nd ranked third year. If I'm not mistaken, I believe you have already met."

Chiffon said with a small smile on her face,

"Yes, we have. You are truly amazing, Kazu-"

"And I'm Elizabeth Mably, the 3rd ranked third year pandora."

Chiffon shot Elizabeth a look, but did nothing.

"It's nice to meet you."

Elizabeth and Kazuya shook hands.

"Now, here are the second years; 1st ranked, Satellizer El Bridget, 2nd ranked Lana, and 3rd ranked Genessa."

Kazuya extended his hand towards Satellizer, but she just stood there, staring at his hand.

'Oh yea. Forgot about that'

Kazuya lowered his hand, realizing that the blonde in front of him wasn't going to shake it.

Satellizer just stood there, silently looking down at her feet.

'Did the Untouchable Queen just blush..?'

"You are amaaaazing!"

Instead of extending her hand, Lana jumped forward and bear-hugged Kazuya. Caught off guard, he just stood there until someone, Cassandra he noted, stepped forward and gently separated Lana from him.

It almost seemed like Kazuya was seeing Cassandra for the first time at that moment. Silky blonde hair framed against her face perfectly, and complemented both her blue eyes and her figure well. It was all he could do to stop himself from staring.

"Don't you think it's a little early to be jumping all over the poor boy?"

"I think not. For he is my soul mate! The gods have spoken to me, and told me that this man shall be my betrothed."

A blank stare was all Kazuya could muster.

When silence began to drag out a little, it was Chiffon who came to his rescue.

"Pay no mind to Lana, she is a little obsessed with her gods."

"Thank you so much for coming Kazuya, but we have important matters to discuss."

Kazuya bowed,

"Of course."

And with that, the boy took his leave.

Thinking clearly again because of the wildcard's departure, Cassandra voiced her thoughts,

"How did he use a freezing without his partner nearby?"

The principal was quick with a response, as per usual.

"He does not require a partner to use his freezing."

Satellizer's eyes shot open. He could be her limiter! His freezing already unlocked, they don't need to perform a baptism! Nobody would have to touch her...

She couldn't believe what she was hearing, it was like a dream come true.

"While it would fail to be as advantageous, Kazuya does not require a pandora to assist him in battle."

"If you don't mind me asking, Sister Margaret, why did you call all of us here today?"

The headmistress straightened her back and responded,

"My hope is that one of you, the elite of your respective years, will become Kazuya's pandora."

"The unique combination of immense limiter defensive capabilities and strong offensive prowess has the potential to craft a new kind of union, far stronger than the last."

The pandora all dropped to one knee, heads bowed. Each one of them knew that tone.

Cassandra spoke up,

"We are ready to serve."

It was Chiffon's turn,

"If the limiters could protect themselves, we'd have a far easier time dispatching the Nova..."

"But half of the pandora present already have their own partners."

Surprisingly enough, Satellizer was the one who brought this particular problem up.

'Somebody's interested'

"That is correct. Chiffon, Elizabeth, and Genessa already have limiters. It is not general procedure, however, at West Genetics you are not explicitly limited to only 1 limiter, unlike in the Chevaliers."

Satellizer's head shot up,

"Then why don't we just have a West Genetics carnival to decide who will become Kazuya's partner?"

Lana was all for it,

"I'm in!"

"Then it's agreed, we'll-"

"No. We mustn't."

Chiffon continued,

"A limiter-pandora's bond is only as strong as their emotions for one anoth-."

"Silence!"

The pandoras' eyes shot back to the floor. Sister Margaret began walking up and down the line of women.

"Your mission is to win Kazuya Aoi's heart."

"There will only be one victor."

"But competition breeds success."

"For the sake of humanity, a new kind of bond shall be formed."

Cassandra's head shot up.

"Yes, headmistress-sama!"

And with the purpose of the meeting fulfilled, the pandora were dismissed.
