"Lily! Take Harry and run. Tom's here and there's no way I'm letting him get to you. I'll meet you at Sirius' after I'm finished here," said James.

"Alright, but don't take too long," Lily said. After giving her husband a kiss, she ran upstairs to grab her son as James faced the Dark Lord.

"You think you can honestly stop me? You have only survived this long because you have managed to escape before I could get to you myself. Such a shame too, you've managed to rid me of so many followers but failed to see that you never actually faced off against my inner circle," Voldemort taunted. "Now, as you are trapped and surrounded by my most loyal and powerful followers, you will see the true might of Lord Voldemort!"

"There are more ways out of this than you think Tom! Even if you kill me you will still lose this war!" James shouted.

"Oh please, your wards have been reversed, all of mine have been put up, portkeys will not activate and the runic circle has finally activated. Meaning any use of magic, accidental or otherwise, will result in you losing your magic, keyed to myself and you need to have my mark to be okay. I'm not sure how long the runes will affect you but that won't matter since you will die as soon as it happens," Voldemort explained, "Not even Lily or your son can escape. I know about every tunnel leading out of here."

"Well you've nearly covered everything, the only thing you forgot, is the muggle way of fighting. Congratulations, now that you've negated all magic, the mines that every one of your so-called inner circle is standing on will explode as soon as they move and if you think I didn't plan for you then you're wrong. See, I have a few wards of my own that go up as soon as someone with the Dark Mark walks past them. Seems like we're at a bit of a stand-off then eh?" James said.

"They're all on brooms. So yes, I did plan for that. AVADA KEDAVRA!" Voldemort smiled as James collapsed. "Now for the bitch." Voldemort signaled for Bellatrix and Lucius to follow him.

Lily was placing runes everywhere she could trying to lock the room or even just keep everyone out but she couldn't figure out why she couldn't power them. She ran to the door to engrave one on the back of the door as it was blown off its hinges.

"You seem like you're unhappy to see me," Voldemort hissed out as he took in the room. He had to admit, she knew her runes well. "Seems my runes worked quite well then. Have you cast a spell-"

"BOMBARDA!" Lily screamed.

"Avada kedavra," Voldemort said with a sigh.

As Lily's body fell to the floor, Harry began screaming. With a bright flash of light and a deafening explosion, every ward collapsed in on itself, the runic circle violently reacted to the transfer of the wards from James and Lily to Harry.

"The boy has lost his magic. It must be the Longbottom child then. Come quickly Wormtail, we need you to take out the wardstone in their manor if we are to eliminate the remaining threat.

DOUBLE ATTACKS DEALT WITH THE DARK LORD

Last night He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named led an assault on two of the most prominent families on the side of the Light. It pains this reporter to write this but the world must know that the Longbottom family now only consists of Alice, Frank and their son Neville. The Potter family wasn't as lucky, only young Harry remains and though he is nowhere to be found, we here at the Prophet have been assured that he is safe.

According to a very rare, reliable and anonymous person's actions, we have received a memory of what happened last night. You-Know-Who himself stormed the house of the Potters in Godric's Hollow and, using a unique and unrecoverable runic array, removed the magic from the Potter family but when the wards were being transferred to Harry, the runic array backfired! That's right! The Dark Lord himself LOST HIS MAGIC! That's not all though, He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named also made an appearance at Longbottom Manor with 13 of his followers who decimated all but Frank and Alice who were protecting their son. Unfortunately only 6 of those supporters were incapacitated long enough to be captured. When the Aurors that were on duty last night arrived they witnessed He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named attempt to kill Neville when his magic finally reacted to the runic array causing his magic to implode and vaporize the body. The wand of the darkest wizard in recent history was recovered and is on display in the atrium of the ministry of magic. There will be a memorial in honor of their noble sacrifices in one week and the Minister has announced that from now on this day shall be known as the day of light.

SURREY

It was a quiet night in Surrey that greeted Albus, Sirius, Remus and Minerva, who was holding Harry. They were standing just on the edge of the street, waiting for Dumbledore to finish putting out the street lights. They were there to discuss what was best for Harry.

"Well, now that that's out of the way. We can get down to business," announced Dumbledore. "I strongly feel that for the time being, this is where Harry belongs. We each have a lot to do so that we can make sure that Harry will be safe. Minerva, what do you say about this?"

"Well Albus, while you have been off doing whatever it is you've been doing, I have been watching these Muggles and they are the worst people I have ever seen! Even their son is awful, I saw him kicking his mother down the street just for a few sweets!" Minerva ranted. "Besides that, I see no reason why Harry can't live with one of us."

"Well," Remus began, "the largest reason for Harry to be here would be that with the most recent Prophet release, we know for a fact that the remaining Death Eater's are targeting him because he really is the reason Voldemort lost his magic."

"Yes, but I'm his Godfather! I have an honest right to raise him. I know that you think I'm too childish but only Remus here knows just how much I've matured," Sirius protested.

"Yes but despite how much you may have grown everyone knows that you are the next place Harry would go. I am well aware that Harry doesn't belong here and as long as you're not followed you can visit him every weekend. After all this is only temporary," Albus said.

HEADMASTER'S OFFICE, HOGWARTS

"I don't understand it, Albus, why would he just disappear? He seemed fine! Sure he wasn't as happy as he should've been but to just vanish like this? I have been looking for weeks!" Sirius exclaimed.

Albus steepled his fingers and really thought about why Harry would leave the Dursley's. He had run some tests on the boy and he still met the requirement to attend Hogwarts but there had never been a bout of accidental magic. Could he have been faking the happiness? Albus himself had made a few random visits just to check on Harry and had always found him reading.

"I will look into it as well but I have no way of knowing where he is until his letter goes out. I will do what I can but you really should have told me about this sooner and I would've been able do something about it. Either way, I will call a few friends and see what they can help with," Albus said.

Knowing a dismissal when he heard one, Sirius nodded his thanks to the headmaster and headed back out to his search.

JANUARY 17, 1989

Harry was running once again trying to figure out how he got into trouble again. All he wanted was to buy a quick lunch on his way back to his hideout. He still couldn't figure out how he even got here. One day, he was sleeping in his cupboard and the next thing he knew, he was in the middle of a city he'd never been to next to a river he'd never heard of with a castle he didn't think even existed anymore.

"Why is it that all the big guys think they own everything? It was just a sandwich!" Harry moaned to himself. He chanced a backwards glance and saw that they didn't gain any ground. Relieved, he cut into an alley to get some distance but ran headlong into someone.

"Where were you going in such a rush?" asked a girl.

"Sorry, I was in a little bit of trouble. I knocked over someone's sandwich and they weren't too happy," Harry explained in between gasps.

"All of this over a sandwich?" she asked.

"Yes and if you don't want to be caught in the middle of it I have to go," Harry said as he began running.

"I'm coming too, by the way my name is Annabel Stone," Annabel called.

"Cool, I guess? Look for now I just need to get away from here." The two of them ran down the alley.

JUNE 3, 1990

HEADMASTER'S OFFICE, HOGWARTS

"Good morning, as you all know it is the time of year that we need to start getting the muggle-borns ready for Hogwarts. I have charmed the lists to make sure that you each have an equal amount to handle for the next two weeks, then we will begin sending out the letters. As far as the search for Harry goes, I haven't had any leads as of yet, so I will need everyone to just be a little patient. Worst case is that we will have to wait until his letter is sent out and allow the magic of the castle to find him. Have a good day," said Dumbledore.

Snape, McGonagall, Flitwick and Sprout all looked down at their lists but Flitwick saw a name on his that was not only too early but also going to be difficult to track down. After all it had been a few years since Harry Potter had last been seen and there were going to be a few people who were going to have a lot of questions for him.

AUGUST 23, 1990

As the diminutive professor made his way slowly up the paved walkway leading up to the castle looming at the top of the hill, he was glad that the two future students had not only accepted magic right away but had also asked him back to take them shopping in Diagon Alley. Flitwick's only concern was how Harry would find a wand. When he had tested the young boy's core he found that it was indeed more than enough to attend Hogwarts but there was a large crack in it. The problem was that Albus had tested Harry's core the night of the incident but there was no obvious damage due to the fact that it was too small to see. Now, however, not only was it cracked but it was nearly split in two, which meant that he had a very real chance of becoming a squib if his core couldn't be healed. There was something else that seemed like a second core but it appeared hollow despite the strength of the magic seeping out of it.

HOURS LATER…

"I'm sorry Mr. Potter, I cannot find you a wand. You are the first customer I haven't been able to help in my entire career. It's like your core cannot be focused," said Ollivander. "Fear not though young man, just because I don't have a wand for you right now doesn't mean that there isn't one out there. Please leave me a small vial of blood and I will use it to make you a suitable wand for you, free of charge."

Flitwick watched as Harry left the wand maker's store hand in hand with young Annabel before approaching the old wandmaker.

"Do you know why his core couldn't be focused?" Flitwick asked.

"Well, I'm no healer but there was a couple things I noticed as we went through wands. Firstly, his core doesn't seem intact at all, almost like there were two parts trying to cooperate and a third that entirely conflicted with them. Other than that, it seemed like he was trying to charge the wands rather than having his magic flow freely but instead of charging them, well, he was actually draining them," explained Ollivander.

SEPTEMBER 1, 1990

Annabel and Harry were sitting on the Hogwarts Express deep in conversation when they saw a head of platinum blond hair fly by their compartment window shortly followed by two much larger boys. Without thinking, Harry threw himself out of the compartment. It took him a few tries to find out where they had disappeared to and he almost ran past them until he saw a white shirt sticking out of one of the doors.

"Hey! Back off!" Harry demanded.

"Scram kid, this is family business," the taller one said.

"Yeah, her family owes us and we're just collecting," the stumpy one said.

Thinking quickly Harry grabbed a suitcase and slammed it across the backs of both of their heads. Once they turned around to face him he saw that he was fighting way above his usual level. The taller one had a lot more muscle than Harry originally thought though his face showed that it was more just for show rather than actual use. The stumpy one however had already started moving. Harry only had a split second to pull out his baton and smack the wand out of Stumpy's hand.

"AH! That hurt you little freak! Don't just stand there Connor, get him!" Stumpy ordered.

It was too late for Connor though as Harry had jumped onto a stack of trunks and launched himself forward, successfully knocking out Connor. Before even thinking of the little girl though, Harry knocked the trunks over burying the fat one.

"Good, I think that handles them. Come on miss, let's get you to someone with authority and get those two creeps dealt with. My name is Harry Potter, what's yours?" asked Harry.

"I'm Kaida Malfoy," she replied.
