Hello, viewers. If you are actively reading my story, then you know that we've only just ended Volume Three and Volume Four should be next, but I had a realization. I didn't really like how the previous volumes turned out. I wrote The Beginnings and Volume One before I really knew how to properly write a RWBY OC or a RWBY OC Story. I have thought it over as I was writing and planning Volume Four, and I'm going to restart The Beginnings, Volume One, and Volume Two.
I'm going to be starting off with the Beginnings. I also wanted to list off the changes, but I feel that they'll be pretty prominent when they happen. So now, enjoy the origins of the A and M of Team AMBR.
Setting: Desert
A reddish-pink-haired boy walked across the desert, carrying a bag over his shoulder. To others, the heat of Sanus' desert would be too much to handle, however, for this boy, he didn't mind at all. He practically loved it. Despite that fact, the clothes he wore did make it slightly uncomfortable, especially what he just went through five hours ago. He looked down at his tattered bodysuit, remembering the past events. He looked back, seeing a large cloud of smoke behind him. He looked back, seeing a settlement in the distance. He continued forward, despite the feeling that something was watching him. From what he could see from where he currently was. It appeared to have buildings made with brick and wood, which told the boy that the settlement was functioning, to a degree.
The boy walked into the settlement, looking around at his surroundings. He was surprised that this settlement was even here, as he had never seen or heard of it before today. The people looked at him, confused and shocked to see a new person in their settlement, but they paid him no mind and went back to their business. He wasn't fazed by them either, he was used to the ways of the people of Vacuo. He continued walking, hoping that he wouldn't become the center of attention any time soon. As he made his way through the settlement, he came across a man hanging up a well-made uniform. The uniform consisted of a white shirt, and a black jacket while a necktie hung next to them. The uniform grabbed the boy's attention, causing him to slow himself to a stop. He stared at the uniform for a few more seconds, not noticing a man walking outside of his home and to the clothing rack.
"Is there something wrong with the clothes, son?" The boy looked over to see the man drying his hands off with a cloth. The boy opened and closed his mouth a few times before answering.
"Uh, n-no! They just caught my attention." The boy stammered nervously, looking down at the ground. The man looked the boy up and down, noticing his tattered bodysuit and the large bag over his shoulder.
"You okay, kid? You look like you've been through some serious shit." The man chuckled, crossing his arms. "You need new clothes? I've got some extras from my kid's old clothes that I haven't thrown out yet. Don't worry, he's stayed the same size since thirteen."
"What about the uniform?" The man raised a hand to his chin as he thought about the question. He tilted his head from side to side as he came to a conclusion.
"Well, in any other circumstances I would say no, but my son's got way too many of those." The man stated as he unhooked the uniform. "So, you know what? Sure. Why not."
"You're giving it to me..? For free?" The reddish-pink-haired boy was confused. He hadn't experienced such kindness in a long time. Especially in Vacuo. "Are you sure?"
"Yeah, it's fine. Like I said, the kid has way too many of these things. He took most of them to Beacon anyway, even though I wanted him to follow in his mother's footsteps and go to Shade, but what can you do right?." The man informed, handing the boy the uniform. The boy dropped his bag on the ground, accepting the clothing.
"Beacon?"
"Yeah, Beacon, as in Beacon Academy. The Huntsmen Academy in Vale. The place where you can train to become a Huntsman." The man told the confused boy, who could only nod.
"Beacon Academy. Become a Huntsman. That sounds promising." The boy smiled to himself as he threw the uniform over his shoulder, reaching over to his bag. He looked to his right, seeing a blacksmith's table close to the two. "Thank you, but I can't accept this with no equal trade."
The boy looked into the back, seeing the black armor, with glowing red accents, alongside a helmet inside. Armor that he thought would stick with him until he eventually died. Now he only thought of them as a curse given to him by a wicked witch. "You're a blacksmith, correct?"
"Yeah, I am. Why?" The man nodded. The boy closed the bag and handed it to the man.
"Then, here. This armor is made of very advanced and high-tech metal. You could use it to make great weapons with it." It was the man's turn to be confused as he took the bag and looked inside. He was completely shocked as he saw the armor.
"Kid, this is Atlas grade armor. Where the hell did you get this?" The man looked up at the boy who only chuckled as a response.
"Long story." He answered. "Thanks for the clothes, mister."
"Y-Yeah... No problem, kid." The boy walked off, waving the man off who stood there shocked at the bag he held in his hands.
As the boy was putting the uniform jacket on over his torn-up bodysuit, he felt something flying at him. He looked back but was too late as an explosion launched him back. The boy recovered quickly, looking around for the cause of the explosion. His gaze fell upon two figures on rooftops looking down at him. The two wore the same bodysuit armor as the boy once did, but their armor was glowing different colors. They also wore helmets, masking their identities. One had their armor glowing blue, while the other's was glowing white. The boy knew these two people very well, they were the people he was running from.
"Well, there you are, baby brother!" One said, their voice sounding robotic due to their helmet, jumping down from the ground. The one walking up to the boy appeared to be male, and he held knives in his hands while he had a sword on his back. The reddish-pink-haired boy looked to the other one, who stayed on the rooftop and appeared to be female. She had her arms crossed and she didn't look pleased. The reddish-pink-haired boy also saw some of the locals of the settlement going into their homes, protecting themselves from the incoming fight. The male continued speaking as he walked towards the boy, twirling one knife in his hands. "You know, Dad's expecting you back. He's very angry with what you did. Honestly, I'm kinda pissed too."
"Yeah? Well, good for you. I don't care." The boy responded, slowly backing away.
"No shit you don't care. You blew up the prototype suits. MY prototype suit to be specific." The armored man said, and the boy could tell that he had a smile on his face. He looked back towards his acquaintance. "Sis, you wanna give the failure a piece of your mind?"
The boy could tell that the armored woman had rolled her eyes before jumping down. In fact, he knew she did as he knew exactly how the woman was. After all, the two people in front of him were his siblings after all. The woman took off her helmet, revealing her long, light blue hair and black, piercing eyes. "Brother, look, you know that I hate Auburn as much as you do, but he is right."
"Hey! What the hell, Azul. I thought I was your favorite!" The man, named Auburn, cried out, offended by his sister's words. He took off his helmet as well, revealing his short brown hair and his cold gray eyes.
"Like hell." The woman, named Azul, spat. Auburn laughed in response.
"Whatever." He waved her off with a chuckle, looking back to the reddish-pink-haired boy. "Now, baby brother... You need to come back with us... and we're giving the option here. Come back willingly, or I'll make you."
"Hell no!" The boy raised his hand up, and Auburn laughed.
"Little brother, I suggest you don't test me," Auburn stated casually, arms crossed. "I have the power to-"
"Shut up! My name is Aaron, and I will not be a part of Dad's little cult anymore!" The boy, Aaron, yelled as a ball of fire generated in his palm. Aaron took heavy breaths as the fireball was generated, but his siblings weren't fazed by the action. They almost encouraged it.
"Alright then. Come on, Aaron. Try me." Auburn smirked and beckoned Aaron with a finger.
Aaron growled and he sprinted at Auburn, who stood there while Azul stood off to the side, letting the boys fight it out. The reddish-pink-haired boy jumped toward his older brother, his fist now cloaked in flames as he used his semblance. Auburn dodged the punch, backing up just enough to stay out of range. He then spun, kicking Aaron back, sending him back. Aaron recovered quickly, flipping up onto his feet. The boy propelled himself into the air, fire bursting out from his feet. Auburn watched his brother, and swiftly dodged the following attack. He laughed as he punched Aaron in the face, knocking him to the floor.
"Holy shit! How are you a top-ranking agent?!" Auburn laughed sarcastically, shaking his head in disappointment. "Anyone of the Leathals far exceeds you."
Aaron rubbed his cheek as he stood, glaring at Auburn. "Dad only tolerates you because of your semblance. But apparently, you can't even use it properly."
"Shut up!" Aaron yelled, fire cloaking his body as he glared at his brother.
Auburn laughed once again as he glanced to his left, seeing a tank full of water across the way. Aaron charged in once again, pulling his fist back. Auburn threw his hands up as he faced the tank of water, causing the liquid to rise along with his hand motions. As the brown-haired boy went to throw his hands down, he was struck in the back of the head, knocking him out swiftly and causing the water to fall to the ground. Aaron slowed to a stop, his face painted with shock, seeing his sister standing in Auburn's place. Before Azul was attacked, a strong gust of wind pushed him back and sent him tumbling. He sat back up, looking at Azul staring at Auburn.
"Idiot. Didn't even activate his aura." She groaned, looking over to Aaron, and sighed. "What're you looking at? Go."
"W-What?" Azul rolled her eyes and looked away from her brother, hiding her face.
"I said go, you dumbass." Aaron stared at her in shock, and Azul was starting to get annoyed. "Look, we may be enemies now, but you're still my brother. And I like you more than I do him.
Aaron stayed silent, so Azul continued. "I'll take him back. Dad'll listen to me if I say you beat us. So go, before I change my mind."
Aaron, still confused, nodded and took off in the opposite direction. He didn't know his sister had this side to her. He always knew her as the master spy, who could fake and simulate her emotions to have her way with any and everything. She never did anything that didn't also benefit her in the end, however, Aaron didn't think about it much as he got far away from that settlement. He made his way back into the vast desert, and a decent ways away from the settlement. He thought of what he was supposed to do next. He was now officially on his own, and he was alone in the middle of the desert with no shelter. As he slowed down to a walk, he heard a voice call out to him.
"Hey, kid!" Aaron turned to see the same man running to him from the settlement from earlier. "Wait up!"
"I thought you got out of danger, like the rest?" Aaron thought out loud as the man caught up to him. Aaron could see that he was holding a sword. The sword appeared to be a broadsword made out of familiar material to the boy.
"Nah. I went inside my armory." The man said, holding out the sword in his hand. "Here. Take it as a token of the village's gratitude."
"Y-You made a sword that fast?" Aaron questioned in shock.
"That's why they call me the best in the village." The man shrugged. "But, seriously, take it."
"What? What do you mean?" The man chuckled.
"Really? Kid, I've been around for a while. I know when a plan forms in a teen's mind." The man handed the reddish-pink-haired boy the sword, who took the weapon in confusion. "Take the sword, kid. Besides, if you're going to Beacon, you'll need a weapon."
"Beacon Academy, huh?" He mumbled to himself as he watched the man walk back to the settlement. "Yeah. I think I'll go with that."
Aaron nodded to himself, walking towards the direction he guessed would take him to Vale, with one goal in mind. Become a Huntsmen and take down the Roux Clan.
Setting: Forest
In a large forest, which was separated into two sections by a railroad leading into Vale, was an Atlesian cargo train. In the middle of the train's cars, were two passenger cars, that were separated from the other passenger cars by an empty flatcar. In the passenger cars were two groups of undercover guards, who were dressed as train workers. Above the train, a winged Faunus held a device as he looked down at the train. The winged faunus wore a uniform consisting of a white sleeveless jacket, a sleeveless black hood, and black pants along with black fingerless gloves and boots. The jacket and hood also had holes for his wings to poke through. He also wore a rounded mask that had fang-like points around the mouth area. The device in his hands allowed him to see the people in each passenger car, and how many were in each. The device also showed the weapons hidden in the walls and floors of the train cars. The Faunus aimed the device to the right, seeing six other heat signatures.
Five of the six heat signatures were sprinting on the elevated ground of the forest, in front of the train the whole way. The sixth one was more elevated as they were hopping across from branch to branch. The sixth one was a female faunus, who had spotted, cat-like ears. She also wore a rounded mask, which had the same fang-like point around the mouth. Unlike the winged faunus, she had a large rectangle-shaped brick on her back as well as a quiver. She swiftly and confidently hopped from tree to tree, switching her gaze from the train to her acquaintances below her.
She looked to the straggler behind the four others. She had a reptile-like tail, which weighed her down greatly. The reptile Faunus wore the same thing she, and her flying acquaintance were wearing with a hole for her tail. The reptile faunus was at this longer than she had, but she was less experienced in combat. Luckily, she had a rifle on her back for her defense.
The cat faunus then looked ahead, seeing their four superiors. The leader of the mission was ahead of the others, which was surprising because of the large sword he held on his back. He had dull white hair and amber eyes underneath his ironic mask, which resembled a wolf. He wore a modified version of the uniform she wore. He wore a piece of red body armor, which fastened around the coat with three fastens going at an angle. The lower left of his armor came up at an angle and went back down around the back, leaving an area open. His gray shirt below his armor was also modified to have a collar that came upon his neck. His pants were tucked in below knee level with his metal-toed boots. His wolf tail also poked out from a hole in his pants as well.
Behind him were two girls. From what the cat faunus knew about them, they were insane and only thought about fighting or killing. They wore the same outfit, but reverse colors. They both wore a jacket, with pants and boots. The two girls also wore masks, that both resembled a jaguar and panther respectively. Ironically, they were also jaguar and panther faunus respectively.
The girl was pulled out of her thoughts as a gruff voice of their mission leader came through the earpieces they wore. "Give me info, Garnet."
The catgirl unconsciously looked up as the bird faunus answered. "They don't suspect a thing. We have the upper hand."
"Good, Ranina, infiltrate." The cat faunus looked at one of the two girls, who looked over at the train. Suddenly, her body changed, turning into blue cubes before she vanished completely. A few seconds later she replied.
"I'm in."
"Good. New girl, you're up." The cat faunus nodded to herself as she moved faster across the branches, slowly getting in front of the train.
The girl took out the rectangle box attached to her back, shifting it from inactive form to its bow form. She pulled out an arrow from her quiver, aiming at the track a few feet in front of the large train. As soon as she passed by a clearing in the trees, she fired the arrow, sending the dusted filled arrow into the ground. Suddenly, a large block of ice filled the tracks, blocking the train's path. However, as the train was already moving, it continued moving and crashed directly into the chunk of ice. The train easily broke through the ice, the conductor was shocked at what just happened. The undercover guards almost fell from the jerk of the train's impact with the ice. Though the train broke through the ice, it was slowed down enough for the group in masks to be level with it.
"Now!" Their leader yelled and the group jumped out from the shadows of the forest, catching themselves on the train. The faunus in the air dove down towards the train, landing on top of one of the end cars.
The guards in the passenger cars acted fast, grabbing the weapons hidden in the train's floor and walls before quickly finding their way to the train's roof. They aimed their weapons at the raiders before them and instantly came to a realization when they saw the group's masks. "Shit! It's the White Fang!"
Their mission leader reached over his shoulder and grabbed the handle poking out, pulling out the large buster sword from his back. He held it up in front of the others behind him, blocking the bullets being fired at them. In between the reload times, the masked panther faunus jumped over their leader, rushing at the armed men and women before her. The panther faunus easily dodged the next wave of bullets, using her large chainsaw to scare the soldiers before punching and kicking at them.
The cat faunus watched the scene in shock and slight horror. The panther faunus laughed wickedly as she moved on to the next group of soldiers, sprinting across the train cars. "She's... something."
"Yeah... Kori's a wild card." The girl looked over to her left, seeing another boy standing next to her. He wore a black scarf around his neck, that covered his mouth. The scarf was strangely big, reaching down to his waist with its end part of it ripped up. He had an orange pauldron on his left shoulder, which was held down by a brown belt. He also wore a gray tank top with torn sleeves. Alongside his pauldron, he had an arm sleeve with metal plating on the upper arm section. He wore a full set of orange armor with metal linings covering his hips, waist, and thighs, tied around by a white cloth Underneath that, he wore a pair of brown harem pants and armored boots that go up to his calves covered with a dark gray cloth. "Let's get moving."
"Yea-"
"Teo, with me." Their leader called, jumping to the next train car, sprinting after Kori.
"Right behind you, Soul," Teo responded, turning back to the cat faunus. "Good luck finding the asset, Mystic."
"Yeah." The cat faunus, Mystic, nodded, watching as Teo moved to follow Soul and Kori across the train cars. "Thanks, Teo."
The cat faunus went to the edge of the train car she stood on, climbing down the ladder and into the car. The car she walked into was another passenger car, which had four armed guards. They fired at the cat-faunus, who quickly ducked behind the seats. Mystic shifted her bow, changing its form into a medium-size battle ax that was light enough for her to hold with one hand. She also grabbed two arrows from her quiver, one red-tipped and the other blue. She threw the arrows over the seat and directly into the wall. The arrows then activated, water coming out from the blue arrow, which dowsed out the fire from the red arrow, creating intense steam.
The steam cloaked the entire train car, giving the faunus the perfect cover. As the guards were distracted, Mystic jumped over the seat, kicking the first guard she could see. She rolled across the ground, dodging a swing of a gun, tripping the guard in retaliation. She punched the guard in the face, knocking him out. She swung her ax, the weapon colliding with the last two guards, which took them out. Mystic then continued on as the steam dissipated, opening the door on the other side of the car. When she opened the door, she was met with another boxcar. She sighed as she climbed the ladder and got atop it, looking on to see more box cars.
The faunus girl rolled her eyes, already annoyed with this mission. She ran and jumped across the train cars, swiftly moving across them. As she reached the last, she was suddenly thrown back as something burst through the train car. Mystic recovered quickly, flipping to all fours as she looked at the incoming threat. She watched as a man wearing a white exo-suit crawled out of the train car, taking up the extra space. Scanning the exo-suit wearing man, she could see a silver 'A' on its metal plating, a symbol she didn't recognize.
The exo-suit wearing man slammed his fist down at Mystic, who jumped back onto the previous train car to dodge. The faunus activated her weapon's bow form, pulling out a Fire Dust arrow from her quiver and readying it on the bowstring. Mystic released the arrow, hitting her target directly with an explosion upon impact. The impact of the arrow sent the exo-suit stumbling back. Mystic followed up her attack, sprinting at the man before kicking the exo-suit, causing him to continue stumbling back. The man in the suit tripped over the edge of the train car, falling off the train.
The faunus watched as the exo-suit tumbled across the ground. She felt bad for the poor guy as she watched him struggle to get out of the fallen suit. Mystic's faunus ear twitched, bringing her attention back behind her. When she turned around, she saw a group of soldiers aiming their weapons at her. Before they could fire or Mystic could react, an array of bullets rained down on the soldiers, swiftly taking them down. Mystic looked up, seeing Garnet lower himself down as he reloaded his rifle. He nodded towards the cat faunus before taking off to the skies once more, flying towards the others at the back of the train.
Mystic continued onward, landing on the last boxcar before the engine. She quickly pulled out two Fire Dust arrows and stabbed them into the train car. She stepped back, watching as the fire from the arrows melt through the train car, creating a large hole. Mystic jumped through the hole and into the train car, seeing the asset she was sent to retrieve. She saw several crates with a different logo than the one of the Atlesian Military or the Schnee Dust Company she was expecting. It was the same logo that was on the exo-suit the man was wearing. From what she was told beforehand, the crates held valuable materials that would give the White Fang an edge against their enemies. She was told not to open the crates, or she would face the consequences.
Mystic didn't have a chance to even touch the box as Garnet entered through the roof. "We have to get ready to transfer the crates."
"Right." The two backed up as Mystic pulled her weapons bowstring back, launching an arrow into the side. The arrow blew the side of the train car completely off, revealing the reptile faunus driving an open-back vehicle. Garnet grabbed one of the crates, and flew it over to the vehicle, placing the crate inside the truck. He flew over, grabbing the next crate. Mystic finally stopped watching and grabbed the last crate, dragging it over to Garnet as he came to pick it up. As the winged faunus loaded the crate onto the truck, Mystic jumped onto the moving truck, barely grabbing onto the railing.
Once she secured herself in the back of the truck, she finally took a break as her part in the mission was done. She looked back to the train, seeing Soul, Teo, Ranina, and Kori sprinting across the train cars to the truck, with Garnet providing them cover. The four swiftly jumped onto the truck, ignoring the gunshots coming from the guards.
"Erin! Drive!" Soul ordered to which the reptile faunus, Erin, obliged.
She steered away from the train, turning around and driving the opposite way of the train, as fast as the car could go. Mystic and Ranina fried back at the guards shooting at them as they got further and further away from the train. They continued until they couldn't see the large vessel anymore. Soul gave Erin another order, which was to drive back to the outpost. Soul turned to the others with him in the back of the truck with the crates. "Nice job, recruits. You've officially joined the White Fang."
Garnet, who was sitting next to Mystic, nodded towards her in excitement, which she faked back at him. She hated what she did, and what she had been doing for the past few months. From stealing to raiding. She hated it all. However, she swallowed those feelings for one reason. To ensure her family's safety from the Fang. She ignored the rest of the conversion, tuning out after Soul started speaking again.
Setting: Ferry
After dropping the crates at the outpost, the three left their superiors and returned home, getting on the ferry nearby. The ferry was large enough for Mystic to find a place away from Erin and Garnet to have some space to think. She had changed at the outpost, now wearing her personal clothing. She wore a wine-colored bodysuit with armored padding on the legs and arm guards, which are a dark shade of gray. She wears some white shorts over the bodysuit, as well as a loose yellow sleeveless hooded vest.
She looked out to the water, taking in the scent of the vase ocean. She loved the water. She always had. Especially at night when the moon's reflection shone down on the water. She remembered the times when her father would take her to the public fountain when she was young, watching her play around with the other kids. She really missed those times.
She looked back as her faunus ears twitched, seeing Erin and Garnet walk up to her. She sighed, annoyed that they found her. She turned to face them, seeing that they also changed clothes. They both looked extremely excited. "Yo! Mystic! We finally found you!"
"Yeah, it's almost like you didn't want us to find you," Erin added in a playful manner. Mystic nodded nervously, trying to fake her excitement.
"Oh, yeah, sorry. I just wanted to think." The cat faunus lied, putting her hands in her pockets as she didn't know what to do with her hands.
"Ah." Garnet nodded. "Well, we were going to go and celebrate when we dock. You wanna come with?"
"Yeah! It'll be great." Erin agreed, animatedly nodded.
"Oh, no. I'm okay. I think I'll just go home." Mystic nervously smiled, shaking her hands in a "no" gesture.
"Okay. That's cool. If you change your mind, just find us. Okay?" Mystic nodded, waving them off as they walked off.
"Well, that was awkward." Mystic sighed to herself, hiding her embarrassment from the nearby passengers of the ferry. Luckily, for her, the ferry was docking soon. So as she waited for the ferry to dock, she continued looking at the water, remembering the good times of the past.
Setting: Menagerie
The ferry finally docked on the faunus island of Menagerie, releasing a ramp to let the passengers walk off. Mystic was one of the first ones off the ferry, the cat faunus basically sprinting off the boat. She rushed past the busy markets, apologizing every time she bumped into someone. She was surprised that the streets were still busy, even at this time of night. She waved to the familiar people that she had known since she was three. She walked by an old antique shop, one that would never leave her memory. She also saw an old, antelope faunus sweeping outside of the antique shop. She slowly swept the floor, cleaning up her already clean storefront. The old woman looked up, seeing Mystic walk by, her expression turning into one with joy.
"Oh! Hello, dearie." The antelope faunus greeted, stopping her sweeping to wave at the young girl before her.
Mystic waved back. "Hey, Ms. Alabaster!"
"What are you doing out this late? It's almost night. You should be at home, sweetie. Hurry along now!" Ms. Alabaster shooed the cat faunus away playfully, to which Mystic laughed.
"You got it! See you later, Ms. Alabaster!" Mystic waved to the older faunus as she continued down the street.
Mystic was happy that there were lights on the streets, otherwise, she would be blind. Unlike the other faunus around her, she didn't have excellent night vision. Mystic walked up a hill, moving out of the way of the people coming from the other side of the hill. When she finally made it to the top of the hill, she saw the settlement of Kuo Kuana, looking down the main street of the settlement. Mystic sighed as she was finally home. She quickly ran down the main street, seeing a medium-sized home in the distance, close to the street's walkway.
Mystic softly walked up to the home, seeing that the lights were off. "Okay. They're asleep. I should be able to sneak in without them knowing I left."
The cat faunus unlocked the door, slowly pushing it open. She stepped around her living room, easily avoiding the furniture as she had lived in his home for many years of her life. She could see the two couches and chairs on top of her grandmother's rug, as well as the coffee table that sits in front of the couches. She used her enhanced hearing to listen out for anything around her as she slowly made her way to the stairs. However, the lights suddenly turned on, causing the girl to freeze like a deer in headlights.
"Ahem." An assertive and disappointed voice made themselves known. Mystic slowly turned her body, facing the woman who stood at the kitchen doorway. She stood a little taller than Mystic herself. She had the same spotted, cat-like ears as Mystic. Unlike Mystic's, however, the woman's cat ears were white. Other than that, Mystic and this woman looked the exact same. They had the same skin tone, the same facial structure, and the same eye color.
She stared at Mystic, arms crossed. "H-Hey, Mo-"
"Mystic Aureole!" The girl in question flinched at her mother's tone of voice. "Where the hell have you been for the past five hours?!"
"I-I... I, uh-" Mystic stammered under her mother's glare, swallowing the last of her breath.
"You know what? Don't. I already know." Her mother said sternly.
"You... what?" Mystic's heart dropped as her mother's words sunk in. She wanted to hide her "nightly activities" from her parents. She hoped that her mother thought something different from the truth, like sneaking out with a boy...or something.
"I know that you're a part of the White Fang." Mystic almost cried immediately. Her mother and father both hated what the Fang had become. It used to be a peaceful movement, but now it's completely flipped.
"Mom I'm-"
"Save it." The older faunus sighed as she walked to sit down on the couch, motioning for her daughter to take a seat as well.
Mystic took a seat on the other couch, hands in her lap, and head hanging low. She melted under the glare of her mother, scared of what she might do. The two sat in a long and uncomfortable silence, both trying to find words to say. Mystic attempted to speak, but she was at a loss for words. Her mother sighed once again, her angry aura fading.
"Mystic..." Her mother started, looking towards her daughter. "Why did you join them?"
Mystic wiped the tears from her cheeks. "I... I wanted to protect you and Dad."
"Protect us? Why would you think that you need to protect us?" Her mother questioned, confused at her daughter's statement.
"I heard Dad's conversation with that man a few days ago." She answered quietly, facing away from her mother to avoid her gaze.
"Ah. I see." The older faunus nodded, letting Mystic continue.
"I know that you and Dad aren't really fighters, so I made a deal. Your safety for my help in their mission." The older woman could only nod.
"Mystic, look at me." Reluctantly, Mystic looked up at her mother, who was kneeling in front of her. She held Mystic's face in her hands, keeping her eyes on her. "You don't have to do that."
"W-What?"
"There are some things you don't know about your mother." The older woman said proudly as she stood up, Mystic's eyes following her mother's. "I can handle myself, and protect your father."
"But you and Dad are practically pacifists." Mystic countered, confused at her mother's claims. "I had to beg for you guys to let me keep my bow."
"Yes, and that is because I didn't want you to be like me. A Huntress." Her mother stated, her expression changing from self-pride to sadness.
"You were a Huntress?"
"Yes, but those days are long behind me." The older faunus waved Mystic off, ignoring her daughter's excited smile.
"Wait. Why don't you want me to be a Huntress?" Mystic stood up to match her mother. Mystic forgot about her nerves and slowly became angry, raising her tone slightly. "You said that Huntsmen and Huntresses don't make a difference in this world, but you were one."
"I know what I said and I said it for a reason." Her mother asserted, causing Mystic to flinch back, taking her tone back. "Huntress work is extremely dangerous, no matter how skilled you may be. I didn't want you to become a Huntress because... I didn't want to lose you to it. But-"
"I thought-"
"Hold on. You didn't let me finish." Mystic nodded, closing her mouth, and waited for her mother to continue. "But, now I can't protect you anymore. You're going to have to venture out into the world without me, and I can't control that."
"Mom, what are you trying to say?" Mystic asked, wondering what her mother could possibly be leading up towards.
The older faunus sighed, looking to her very confused daughter. "Mystic. I want you to find friends who will actually fight for your safety, not just to use you for the downfall of others. You mean too much to me, and it hurts me to know that you're being used, especially when you don't want to do it."
Mystic looked down to the floor, avoiding her mother's eye contact. She knew her daughter too well. She knew when she doesn't want to do something. "So, I want you to make a promise to me."
"A promise?" Her mother nodded.
"Become a Huntress, and use the skills you learn to take down the White Fang and return it to its past glory." Mystic took every word in, replaying them over and over again in her mind. She shed a single tear before her small frown quickly changed to a large smile.
"Yeah! I promise!" Mystic yelled out, bringing a smile to her mother's face.
"Good. Now, go pack. There's a certain academy currently taking in new students. You're leaving early tomorrow." Mystic's eyes widened, and her mother only nodded in confirmation.
The younger faunus excitedly ran to the stairs but stopped at the first few steps. She looked back at her mother. "Does Dad know about this? Where is Dad anyways?"
"Your Father's at the Cove currently. He's been there for a few hours." Her mother responded. "Apparently, there's a lot of things coming into the northern docks rather than the southern. But that doesn't matter, you need to pack. Go, go, go."
The other woman softly pushed her daughter up the stairs, and Mystic shook her off, continuing the rest of the way on her own. Mystic's thoughts were running wild as she ran into her room to pack. She had so many things on her mind. However, despite how many things were going on in her mind, she knew one thing for sure. She was going to become a Huntress and repair the White Fang.
However, the cat faunus failed to notice that a presence was watching on a rooftop across the way, listening in on the conversation. On top of a tall house, Soul stood, looking down at Mystic's home, having heard the entire conversation. He gritted his teeth as anger filled his body. He unclipped his mask from his belt, slowly putting it on. "You're not getting away, kitten."
Several hours into the night, Mystic suddenly awoke in her bed to a dark room, sitting straight up with her eyes wide. She got up from her bed, moving the blinds to look out her window, seeing that the sun was barely rising. This perplexed the cat faunus greatly. She never normally wakes up this early in the morning, a habit she shares with her father. She shrugged it off, walking to her bathroom but stopped as her ears twitched. She could hear the faint sound of pots and pans clashing as well as things breaking, which confused her greatly.
Mystic stood still to focus on listening for any more strange sounds. As she was focused on listening to the sounds, she flinched when a scream filled her ears, a very familiar scream at that. Her eyes widened as she ran out of her room, grabbing her weapon as she did so.
"Mom? Mom!?" The faunus girl stepped off the final step to see that the living room was a mess as there was a hole where the door used to be. She looked around for her mother, but couldn't see anything as it was too dark for her. She closed her eyes, once again focusing on listening.
She waited for another sound to go off and alert her of her mother's whereabouts. After a few minutes, she heard the quick sound of metal clashing and insanely ran in that direction, which lead her outside. Once she got outside, she saw something she never thought she'd see. She saw her mother, holding back an attack from her mission leader, Soul.
The wolf faunus looked up, seeing Mystic. He sighed as he kicked her mother back, stepping back as Mystic ran to her mother's side. The cat faunus scanned her mother's body, making sure she wasn't severely injured. Once she felt like her mother was fine, he glanced up at a smirking Soul.
"Wha-What are you doing?!" She yelled, glaring at the wolf faunus, who simply put a hand to his face as he chuckled.
"No, Mystic, I should be asking you that question." He stated, purposely avoiding the question.
"What? What are you talking about?"
"You think you can just betray the Fang? I mean, you barely got in and you're already betraying us." Mystic eyes widened as she asked herself how Soul knew her goals. Had he been listening in the whole time? How did she not know? "You might as well give up because even if you defeat me, you will still have the whole of the White Fang after you, traitor."
"No, they won't. Not if I change their minds." Mystic countered, activating her weapon's battle-ax form.
"Change their minds? Please, Erin and Garnet, maybe, but you haven't even met the higher-ups. You can't change their minds. It's you against us. You can't win, so please, just give up. You don't want to have to deal with Ranina or Kori, and you especially don't want to piss of Saturn. To be honest with you, I'm your best option." Soul said smugly, one hand on his hip and the other on his sword handle.
"N-No. I refuse!" Mystic ran in grabbing her ax with two hands, sprinting at the faunus.
Soul dodged Mystic's attack, moving around the girl and kicking her in the back of her leg, causing her to fall to her knees. She turned her body, swinging her ax once again, only to have it caught by Soul. He punched the girl in the face, taking her weapon away from her. He threw the ax away, circling around the cat faunus, letting her stand back up. It was like a predator with its prey. Mystic slowly stood up, glaring daggers at Soul, who continued to look smug.
"Why are you doing this?" She asked, breathing heavily. Soul chuckled at the sight.
"Isn't it obvious? I'm killing a traitor before you become a problem." Soul simply asked, a devilish smirk painted on his face. "It's how life goes. There's never anyone you can truly trust, you always got to watch out for yourself."
"That's not true. It can't be." Mystic disagreed, shaking her head. That couldn't be true. She didn't want it to be. "There are people you can trust. You just have to give them the option to be trusted."
"Hmph. You'll see just how wrong you are soon." Soul said, unsheathing his large buster sword. "Now, stand still while I end your life, okay?"
Soul dragged his sword on the ground as he walked, taunting Mystic as he did so. Mystic went to move, only to fall due to her legs giving out as she suddenly felt extremely fatigued for some reason. Mystic tried to force herself to a standing position, but her wobbly arms and legs prevented her from doing so. She looked up as Soul walked towards her, trying to back away with what strength she could muster.
"You know what? I'll leave you with some parting advice." He said once he reached the girl. He continued as he slowly raised his sword above his head, gripping the hilt with both hands. "You can't trust humans. They'll use you and leave you to clean up their messes. They will betray you in the worst way possible. You can only trust yourself, and your fellow faunus. Goodbye, Mystic."
Before Soul could swing the blade, an explosion sent him flying back and tumbling down the street. Mystic, now feeling her strength coming back, looked behind her to see her mother holding her bow. The older faunus also held Mystic's bags, and her quiver, as she sprinted over. She also had a large spear strapped to her back as she ran over.
"Come on. Get up." Mystic stood up with the help of her mother, who handed her her bow and bags. "You need to go."
"Wha-"
"Now."
Her mother didn't let her ask questions as she pushed her forward. Mystic was at a loss. She had no clue what to say or to do. She knew she had to leave, or her mother would also suffer the consequences of her actions, but she also didn't want to leave her mother alone with Soul.
"Mystic, honey." Mystic snapped out of her thoughts, looking her mother in the eyes. "Your Father and I will be fine. I can protect him long enough to get out of here. But, right now, you need to go. Go to Beacon Academy. You'll be safe there."
"But-"
"No. No buts." Her mother cut her off once again. "Go live the life you want to live. Be a Huntress. Save lives. Do what makes you happy."
Mystic felt the tears run down her face but did nothing to stop them. All she could do was clutch on top of her belongings as she cried. "I love you, honey. Don't ever forget that."
Mystic nodded and closed her eyes as she turned around. She then took off down the street, passing by Soul as he started to stand once more. Before he could fully stand up, half of his body was frozen. The white-eared faunus smirked as she took off the other direction, stopping for a few seconds to see her daughter sprint to the nighttime Ferry.
She sadly smiled to herself before she continued running, heading towards the northern port to find her husband.
Soul punched the ice surrounding his legs, growling as it started to crack little by little. He looked towards the direction Mystic ran to, yelling out in pure anger and frustration. "You can't run forever, kitten!"
Since Aaron's siblings aren't going to make their return anytime soon, I'll give small descriptions about them now. Auburn has the semblance of Torrent Generation, which allows him to call forth huge water waves to crash down on his targets, washing everything away in a powerful torrent. However, Auburn can't use his semblance freely. He can only use water that's around him. He can also make that water greater in quantity, even if the water near him is just a puddle. As shown, Auburn is a complete jerk. He has no care for his own siblings and is a giant egomaniac. He takes joy in beating, killing, and stealing but he takes the most joy in insulting Aaron.
Azul has the semblance of Wind Generation, which allows her to generate intense winds. She can not manipulate the wind she creates, she can only create the wind. As Aaron mentioned, Azul is a master spy. She can change her emotions without much thought and blend in with any kind of crowd. She uses those skills to infiltrate places during missions.
Mystic's semblance is slightly different now. She can still copy other people's semblances and use them for her own long term, however, she is now limited in how many she can copy at a time. She has to watch someone use their semblance in order to copy it unless she physically cannot do it. Mystic's weapon's name has also been changed. It is now called Viridian Star. Her weapon's ax form is now a one-handed battleax, that is as long as her arm rather than a large, two-handed ax. Mystic's mother is an albino cheetah faunus.
Soul's semblance is also slightly different. He can now only disable aura for about 7 to 8 minutes maximum, causing them to feel tired and sluggish.
Coming up: B & R
