I got this idea from the TV show Smallville. Enjoy :)

Deep down he's crying out.

Drowning in hate and misery

Underneath the scar tissue.

Deep in the darkness.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger?

Not so much.

Soul scattered to the four winds.

Tom lurks in his frozen heart, weak and feeble.

Crying for a mother's love, like a newborn.

He screams and wails.

"Can you see me?"

"Help me please!"

Then the dark, shadow man.

He comes and with a back hand

Silences Tom once more.

The shadow man is a bad man.

Tom knows that the people are frightened.

He Who Must Not Be Named.

You Know Who.

But nobody knows Tom.

Some remember the name

Tom Marvolo Riddle.

The boy before the monster.

I am Lord Voldemort.

They did not see him, truly.

Even then Tom was a wraith in the grim land of his consciousness.

The dark snake had always ruled.

The one born in hatred and prejudice

Without love and joy.

A heart that stopped as soon as it started.

Tom watches as he does bad things

As he ravages his soul.

"Why bad man?"

You wouldn't understand. The snake snarls.

Tom isn't stupid.

The bad man is lonely.

Just like Tom.

Without family.

Without friends.

The snake.

Lord Voldemort.

Has followers and minions.

Branded like cattle. He slaughters them without thought.

Tom has no one.

That is the difference.

Tom could still love, he thinks

And he knows he could never kill.

Voldemort can only dominate.

Some days Tom feels bad for the snake.

Other days he just hates him.

So when the saviour comes

Tom does not intervene

As the green forces Voldemort out.

Tom weeps

For the saviour has saved him.

The snake has been brought down by the green of his own jealousy and greed.

Brought down by the green curse from the green eyes.

The Boy Who Lived has granted him a chance to live in death.

Tom is free.

His mother reaches for him and he knows love.
