Chapter One: Lupus Morsus.

Four year old Remus Lupin thought his day had been simply excellent so far. He had been on a long woodland walk with his father, Lyall, in the forest nearby the lupin family cottage, a small but quaint cottage in the north of was a very irregular occurrence due to Lyall's busy schedule and his job in the ministry of magic (where he worked in the department of regulation and control of magical creatures). After he had gotten home from his walk which was with his father and his teddy bear, he had been treated to a very tasty dinner of sausages, mashed potatoes and vegetables with apple pie and custard for desert (his favourite!) cooked amazingly in Remus' opinion, by his mother, hope. Afterwards, he was soon tucked into his bed by his mother where he snuggled down and he quickly drifted off into a very restful sleep under the light of the moon, which shone through the gap in the curtain.

Remus awoke suddenly, his eyes opening abruptly and rolled over in his bed, pulling the duvet up to his shoulders before trying to go back to sleep when he realised. Oh no! Where was his teddy bear? He simply could not go back to sleep without his teddy bear, which he soon remembered he had taken into the forest earlier in the day.

"I must of dropped him on the way out" Remus thought worriedly "I'll never go back to sleep without him"

Remus got up, resolute, put on his fluffy slippers and decided he would have to go out to the edge of the forest and go and have a look for his teddy bear.

He knew he wasn't supposed to go outside after dark, his parents had told him this time after time, but he couldn't just leave his teddy outside all night without him, no, he would have to venture outside into the darkness. And so he did.

He creeped slowly down the wooden stairs, careful to miss the third step from the top as it creaked loudly underfoot, he remembered, and made his way cautiously out of the door and behind the house towards the edge of the forest.

A loud, menacing sounding howl wrenched through the dark night and paws thumped through the forest, twigs breaking under the paws, bushes rippping as if claws were cutting through them.

After that everything was a blur for Remus, a huge grey blur appeared out of the trees. Then just pain, pain beyond what Remus had ever thought existed. His shoulder burned like a fire in the hearth, blood spurred out of him and the last thing Remus saw before losing consciousness was a pair of wild, amber eyes.
