Hi there! Thank you so much for clicking on this story and deciding to read it! :)
This is my first ever fanfic, so tips and suggestions on making better fanfiction would be appreciated.

With this fanfic I wrote, I changed up some things from the actual canon story, and that's the reason why it may seem inaccurate. Here are the things that ACTUALLY happened in the show (and what I changed in the story):

~Aang disappears 2 days before Sozin's Comet according to the show
~The Gaang realizes Aang is gone AFTER they prepare to pack up
~The whole conversation before they went to go look for Aang was completely different

andddddd etc. This is a fanfic anyway so all I can do is hope for you to enjoy it. (^u^)

(third pov)

Today was the day. The day they were supposed to defeat the Firelord. Everyone woke up in a neutral mood, not knowing what to feel, or think. Were they supposed to feel nervous? I mean, Zuko was left with the task of defeating his sister, Azula in order to save the world. Now that I think about it, it's a huge job. If Zuko failed to do this, the entire world would be over. The Fire Nation that would be ruled by Azula would take over every land. Every. Single. Nation. All of it would be gone. Not just the Air Nomads, but the Earth Kingdom and the rest of the Water Tribes too. And it would be in the hands of his father, the Fire Lord. Thinking about all of this, Zuko realizes that he would either have to severely injure his sister and put her in prison or possibly... kill her. He shivers just by thinking about it but decides to shake it off as he gets up to prepare his body for future events.

All of a sudden, he notices Katara rushing to get up in a panic in the corner of his eye. The brunette waterbender suddenly scurries around in a panic, muttering words under her breath. She peeks at Appa's saddle, but her face grows into a worried look as she notices that nothing's there. Sokka notices her behavior quickly but he seems more confused than concerned. He finally says the first words in the conversation.

"Katara? Is everything alright? What are you even looking for?", Sokka says in a tone of confusion.

She turns her head quickly to her brother. "I don't know, Sokka. I can't fi-"

"She's looking for Aang.", a short girl dressed in green interrupted.

Aang. The current avatar that suddenly appeared after 100 years of being missing. He's been spending the last few months with the rest of the group to learn the other 3 elements, water, earth, and fire. He had the duty to fight the new "Pheonix King" Ozai and save the world by ending the 100-year war. But, he's gone missing overnight.

"What? What do you mean? Wasn't Aang just with us last night? He should be here, you know he's always the first to be up in the morning.", Sokka replies with a currently shocked look.

"I can't feel his heartbeat or footsteps anywhere. He's not here. I don't know where he would go, but he definitely isn't here. That's why Katara is being all scared and stuff.", Toph responds carelessly.

Everybody then goes silent. Without saying another word, they all exchange looks to each other and separate to look for the missing airbender. They enter the house and bash into every room, but the little boy is nowhere to be found. They all shrug at each other as Katara thinks to herself.

She thinks about the most recent argument they all had the night before. It was after their training and Aang was confessing his doubt of killing Lord Ozai. He was looking for other ways to defeat him instead of death, due to his Air Nomad culture. His words echo in her head as the event replays over and over.

"We're trying to help!", Katara says in a stern voice.

"Then when you figure out a way for me to beat the Firelord without taking his life I'd love to hear it!", Aang yelled back as he walked away.

That was the last time she saw Aang. Her brain fills up with fear as she realizes that Aang didn't have a choice and was basically forced to do this. The world's safety fell into his hands, and there was no other way to solve those problems. Was this the reason Aang disappeared? Did he just want to give up on everything we've been through and escape? No. This shouldn't be the reason. He would never do that. She knows that Aang wouldn't do that, no matter how much doubt he would feel. Or would he?

"KATARA!" A familiar voice snaps her back to reality. "Huh?" It was her brother Sokka.

"I've called your name so many times. What are you thinking about anyway?", he asks in concern.

She stands there in silence. She's not thinking about anything, she just doesn't feel a need to respond.

Sokka then realizes what she's thinking about. He then puts a hand on her right shoulder. "Don't worry, we'll find Aang soon. He'll definitely come back, considering he has to help us save the world as the Avatar. We found his staff and more clues to find where he is." A grin appears on his face, and that made Katara smile back in return. "Yeah, we will. Should we keep looking?" Everyone else replies in a nod and rushes to the beach beneath them.

Once they arrived at the beach, the first thing they noticed was footsteps leading towards the ocean. Footsteps that were too small to belong to a grown man and more for a little boy. This leads the Gaang to even more confusion. "So, did he just go for a midnight swim and never came back?", a Kyoshi Warrior named Suki asked. "Maybe he was captured!" Katara suggested. "I don't think so. There's no sign of a struggle.", Sokka pointed out. Everyone started to exchange ideas of where Aang could be, then eventually spread out in groups to find him.

They looked everywhere. Downtown, the skies, and even in other lands, but nope. Nobody there. It's as if he just disappeared out of existence. This made Katara go into more fear. She knew she had to stay calm but she just couldn't. The last time she talked to him ended badly. She didn't want it like that. She cares about Aang to a far extent and didn't know what to do if they lost him. If she lost him. Would the world be gone?

Katara snaps back as she catches herself zoning out again.

As time went by, everyone realized that it was too late. They couldn't find Aang and the skies grew dim. It was almost time for the comet to pass by, so they had to go to Ba Sing Se and see how it goes. Without the avatar, they could still win, right?

The group has already decided their place in the battle and are waiting for further decision. Sokka, Suki, and Toph are left with the job of defeating the airships to save Ba Sing Se from being burnt down, While Zuko and Katara are going to the Fire temple to defeat Azula and prevent her from becoming Firelord. The only person needed is Aang. The Avatar is the only one who can defeat Lord Ozai with all the power he has. The people can only hope that he comes back because as far as they know, he's nonexistent.

Everyone then scatters out to their battlefields. Sokka, Suki, and Toph go on ahead to destroy the airships flying above them. Zuko and Katara fly on Appa to go to the Fire Temple. The White Lotus stay behind to save their land with their abilities as a team.

I forgot to mention that this has multiple chapters. I still haven't found the motivation to write them so this part will seem boring because it's something that actually happened in the show, nothing new. Let's hope that the next chapter will have more originality and action. :3
