Chapter eleven:

Matsuda groans as it seems like the group is getting no closer to finding out who Kira is.

Demegawa has continued broadcasting and speaking of the word of Kira despite that it seems that not even the studio knows who Kira really is.

Light turns to look to Matsuda at hearing him groan out. "Don't give up. We will find something. I know we will. Those two Kiras can't get away with this forever." He tells the older man and doesn't notice L slightly glance to him before turning away.

Matsuda turns to look to Light at hearing the words of encouragement. "It just seems like we've hit a place we can't cross in this investigation." He complains glancing down in disappointment.

"All we can do is keep trying." Soichiro points out gaining both Light and Matsuda's attention as they both turn to look to him. "At some point we will find something and things will start to become clearer. If we let them continue on like this then it is possible that they'll take over everything. We cannot let murderers do that."

The others, except for L who figures his agreement is implied, mummer in agreement to what Soichiro is saying.

So they all get back to work.

Light takes a seat next to L looking over some information on a computer there. He can't help a glance to the raven haired male seeing him pick up a strawberry only to eat it. He wonders what the other could be thinking about. He tries to brush it off as there is no way that he will be able to tell. He turns to the screen in front of himself to try to get some work done.

L can't help in wondering what the beautiful Misa is currently doing. He can't help an image of the two of them in the back of his car with the blonde leaning against him. As he holds her in his arms. He silently admits to himself that he would indeed like that sweet moment with her. He turns to his cake trying to get his focus back to doing what he can on the case currently. He has to keep things going in the investigation as if nothing has really changed. He can't let any of them know of the secret that he knows about.

Not yet that is. It isn't anywhere near the time for any of it to be known.

Almost two months end up going by and the team hasn't gotten far in figuring out who the two Kiras happen to be.

They've been going over a lot of information from the deaths including timing, cause of death, where they died, and so much more even including what they get from checking in on Demegawas show.

L secretly has eased off of Light as if not really suspecting him all while keeping the fact that he knows the truth a secret.

Light heads out getting a text asking if he could meet a friend at a location.

Soichiro told Light that he is still young and that he should take a small break to visit a friend.

Light arrives to the location and notices a note asking him to dig up something. He looks to where the arrow is pointing and wonders what one of his friends could have wanted him to dig up. He finds a small shovel and uses it to start digging. He keeps going until he uncovers a black note book that has silver words on it.

Death Note.

Light suddenly wonders if this could be the tool that the two Kiras use in order to cause people to die in however they want them to die. He reaches into the hole tossing the shovel to the side. He however freezes as soon as his fingers touch the notebook. His eyes widen as all of the memories come rushing back to him all at once. He sits there frozen for a good few minutes before he manages to recover. He blinks and looks to the notebook not realizing when he had stared at the trunk of the tree. He picks up the black book taking it out of the ground.

"Finally it is time."

Light turns to look over his shoulder only to find himself staring at Ryuk. "It has been awhile." He greets the Shinigami before turning away. He puts the notebook beside him. He then fills in the hole then grabs the Death note as well as the note saying to dig there. He turns away and begins walking away. He has a lot of work to do. He doesn't even notice someone watching him who then moves away after he is gone from sight.

L checks his cellphone as he gets a text message. He sees that it is from Misa herself.

The target has regained his memories.

"So the time draws closer." L whispers under his breath to not draw the attention of the others who are there with him.

Misa is waiting at the designated spot covering herself with a hoodie against being recognized as well as to shield herself from the rain. She feels her heart skip a beat as a familiar black car pulls up. She smiles and hurries over to it as the door opens as if greeting her. She climbs in closing the door behind herself.

"Drive around please Watari." L requests to the old man that he looks up to as a father figure as well as a teammate.

Watari nods and begins heading off to drive around as asked. He focuses on the wet road letting the two talk about whatever they need to this time.

Misa takes off the hood of her hoodie as she is good in this car since no one can see her let alone try to swarm her. She slightly leans against L who looks to her and doesn't move away. She finds a blush coming to her cheeks and her heart is pounding, as well as her heart feeling rather warm, as she is allowed to be so close to the man she has found herself adoring. Her whole face lights up into a deep blush as the other puts an arm around her to hold her close. She looks to him and he offers her a rather adorable small smile. She returns the smile though wider than the one that he offered her. She understands that he isn't usually too big in showing his emotions. She really doesn't mind it. She knows that he likes her even if he doesn't express it the same way that other people do. "Kira is planning a big move." She informs the raven haired man knowing that they need to start sharing information. Though at least they can still enjoy each others company as they do so. "He hasn't told me what it is yet. Just that I need to be ready for a big move to happen."

"I see." L can't take his eyes away from the female that is snuggled into his side. Somehow having her against him just feels so right. As if she is the last puzzle piece that he had been missing in his life. "Well then, we should probably give him a little room to make this move. Unless things will go very badly. We will need to make sure that things don't go too far. We still need to have a chance to be able to stop him."

"Should we involve the others who are on the case?" Misa lets her eyes meet with L's own eyes. She knows that she doesn't need to add that they would be leaving Light out of this.

"No." L informs her causing her to blink at this. "Not yet at least. I don't want one of them to slip up around Light and to blow the cover off of this. I will get them involved when we are closer to being able to catch and arrest him. The less time that they have to possibly mess things up the better."

"I understand." Misa confirms this as it really does make sense.

This isn't just an ordinary case. This is a very sensitive one that one wrong move could cause everything that they have worked towards to crumble beneath them.

Then there is a chance that they would never be able to catch Light who could possibly even take over all of Japan. It isn't even known if he would stop there though the two doubt that he would.

Light could be striving to take over the world and to have it all under his control especially with his God complex. He calls himself a God after all and wants everyone to look to him as if he really is a God. Not the murderer he truly is.

"We will take cautious steps." L tells Misa who listens to the words that he has to say. "We will not move things too fast. Even that could end up exposing things and he could go into hiding. Or make a move that will put us at a disadvantage or a step behind him. Not to mention." His arm pulls her a little tighter against his own body. "That he could kill you if he suspects you of doing what you really are doing. I won't let that happen."

Misa turns and nuzzles the others neck slightly. She truly feels warm all over inside at hearing that L is not willing to take things too fast for her safety. "We will do what we have to in order to catch him." She agrees to this. "Just tell me whatever you need me to do and I will do it."

"I know. You are very reliable after all." L confirms to this and Misa pulls away enough to let their eyes meet once more. He wonders if he'd scare her off if he tried to kiss her.

Misa glances away not wanting to rush L, unaware of his thoughts of kissing her. She checks the time on her cellphone. "We should probably split up." She suggests and spares a glance to L. She doesn't want to leave his side though understands that with this sensitive investigation they really need to be careful. "Drop me off at my hotel."

L nods and lets Misa tell Watari where it is.

They arrive and Misa moves to get ready to go out.

"I will see you next time." L mentions in which Misa turns to him one last time tonight.

"Yes, you will." Misa confirms. She leans closer placing a gentle kiss on his cheek then she pulls away and heads out. She hurries towards the hotel after closing the door blushing from what she had just done.

L is sitting in the car stunned yet feeling warm by what had just occurred. He manages to recover and turns to Watari who is waiting for where he wants to go. "Let us go back to the headquarters." He tells him in which the other begins driving off. He places a hand over the spot that he was kissed without actually touching it. He smiles to himself at the memory of it. He knows that Misa wasn't wearing lipstick so it won't leave a mark. Though that spot to him now feels blessed by an angel.

Misa watches through one of the windows of the hotel lobby as the car with the love of her life drives off. Her cheeks warm and red with a blush over what had happened. She turns away as the car heads away further into the rain. She heads to go up to her room for the night.

Perhaps next time she could be a bit bolder.
