Chapter twelve:

L glances to the brunette secret killer sitting next to him. He wonders what kind of plan could be going on in the head of the other who is planning a move. He is glad that he is able to have the other on his team without actually knowing how close he is getting. He thinks that perhaps he should make a move before this big thing ends up happening.

"Hey guys." Matsuda speaking up gets everyone to turn to him. He was monitoring the TV broadcasts. "Seems like the two Kiras are taking things further." He switches the broadcast to the many screens showing off Demegawa giving a report.

"We have heard from Kira that Kira is an all powerful God and that anyone who goes against him will end up paying the price. We have already seen criminals being killed after writing Kira Is God in big letters. And who else but a God could pull off what Kira is doing? So I say praise our lord Kira!"

Everyone in the room turns to look to L wondering what could be going through his mind currently about all of this.

L has his right thumb resting on his bottom lip thoughtfully as he stares at the screens. "The two Kiras are stepping up their game." He mentions to the others after pausing the broadcast. "I will get the messages collected and I will make sure to check them for any trace of who it could be. We have to keep trying the messages in the hope that we'll find a clue." He glances to the others except for Light. "You all check the new deaths." He then turns to look to Light. "Light could you do a little task for me?" He receives a nod from the brunette for confirmation that he can do it. "I want you to talk to your old peers and your friends. Find out about anything that we might have missed online or that is being shared verbally around your demographic. It is a small chance but perhaps it could pay off."

"Of course." Light agrees to this seeing the raven haired males point though knows that he will make sure that none of the information could be lead to him. "I can go now." He offers in which L nods his head so he gets up then heads off. He leaves the headquarters as everyone else gets back to work. He smirks softly to himself when out of the cameras reach. He gets rid of his smirk very quickly. He knows that L and the others have no idea what is coming. He feels like this is going to be a step that will let him play with them a bit. He finds it fun to mess with them when he can as they scramble to try to figure things out. He texts Misa telling her to meet him in a specific park with her Death note. He then heads towards that park.

Misa meets him there and turns as Light arrives. She made sure to be where no one can hear or clearly see them.

"Did you bring it?" Light questions in which Misa nods pulling out the notebook. "Great. Give it to Rem." He watches her do as he had asked. "Now touch mine." He pulls out his own and lets her touch it. "And relinquish ownership to the one that Rem has."

Misa glances to Rem still having a hand on the other notebook. "I relinquish my ownership of that notebook." She informs the Shinigami though by touching Light's notebook she manages to keep her memories. She turns to Light who then pulls the notebook back. "Okay. Ryuk." He hands the note book to the Shinigami. "Trade books with Rem."

The two shinigamis do so and now the one Light had is now Rems while the one Misa had is now Ryuks.

"Ryuk give me the one you have." Light is then handed the notebook. "And Rem when we leave this park I relinquish ownership of the one that you hold." He adds once having the notebook in his hands.

"Wait. I am confused." Misa mentions in which Light turns to her. She is hoping for a good explanation of what the brunettes plan is. "Why are we doing all of this?"

"The task force against us is going to get their hands on the one Rem has." Light tells Misa who blinks at this wondering why Light would want to expose the secret to their abilities.

"Wait. Why would you allow that? Do you want to be caught?" Ryuk questions then slightly chuckles. "Not like it really matters to me. I just wanna know what is going on in that head of yours."

"Well you see I do have a reason. I am going to use this to my advantage. Just because they get their hands on a Death note doesn't mean that they'll get an advantage. After they have the Death note we'll be moving forward. Think of it as more of a distraction to what we are actually doing." Light turns to look to Misa. "Misa. We will be using this Death note in my hands to kill. I will give you pages from it to use while I will have the rest of it. We need to keep our memories and be able to use it."

Misa nods her head to this so Light turns to the Shinigamis.

"Rem I will have you give that notebook to a pawn with this note." Light hands the Shinigami the folded note. "It has specific instructions which I plan to use to get the notebook into the task forces hands. Without raising any suspicion or alarm among them."

"Okay." Rem agrees to this.

Light gives Misa a few pages from the note book he has then they head their separate ways, after he also tells Rem the name of the person to give the book to mainly by telling her to look for someone who would be willing to use it; such as to gain a higher standing in whatever that they are a part of.

Rem flies off to go find the person that is to play as Kira just to get the notebook into the hands that Light plans to get it into.

Light goes to actually meet up with the people he is supposed to actually be meeting up with. He makes sure that it'll be where cameras capture them though less likely to have audio. That way they'll see him doing exactly what the worlds greatest detective had asked him to do if they do decide to check.

Misa sends a text to L informing him of the plan and luckily despite L forgetting Rem for now he does seem to remember she is his spy. She is glad as she reads the message to keep going and to be careful. She also notices a message saying that the raven haired male she has fallen for will be giving her a device to try to catch Light secretly on camera using the Death Note to kill someone. She sends back a message that she understands then heads to her hotel room for now. She has a photoshoot later today.

Later...

Kyosuke Higuchi is getting out of his car when he spots a black book on the ground. He curiously goes over to it and picks it up. "Death note?" He wonders to himself.

"Hello."

Kyosuke jumps then spins around only to stare wide eyed at Rem.

"Don't scream. I am a Shinigami and that Death note is mine." Rem informs the man who manages to hold back a scream. She offers him the note. "There is something that you need to do."

Kyosuke takes the note and looks it over and realization comes across his face before a big grin does so as well. "I see. So I have been chosen by Kira to help do his work have I?" He starts a low chuckle that turns into maniacal laughter. "Oh don't you worry. I will be a great Kira." He looks to Rem not losing any part of his large grin that looks like a very villainous smirk. "I will make those that need to pay the price do so. Kiras trust in me will not be in vain."

Rem thinks that she isn't going to quite an annoying time working with this man who must have some kind of psychotic tendencies.

…

Misa lays down on her hotel bed and thinks about L. She cant wait for their next meet up and wonders what L is up to right now. She finds her eyes darting around the bedroom of the hotel room. "It feels a bit different without Rem being here to have as someone talk to." She is well aware that she can't just message L to just talk. She thinks that maybe that can come after they finish this case that they both are working together on. Though for now she will just have to hold herself back from doing so. She closes her eyes to relax for a little bit and to try to push the wishes for someone to talk to out of her mind for now.

….

Light arrives back to the headquarters in which the others except for L greet him at being back. He turns as the raven haired detective turns to look to him.

"How did your investigation go?" L inquires not really much of someone to greet another person.

"I got very minimal information." Light slightly sighs giving a very good slightly frustrated look. He sees his father give him an assuring look so he makes himself look calmer. "The information that there are those who are all for Kira and those who are against Kira. There seems to be a war raging online about what side to take and why. Kira is a really big topic on a ton of websites. People are even talking about Kira just because it is now such a popular topic. There is some people trying to make some theories though I have only heard of a few. Like that it is all some kind of experiment by the government possibly gone wrong. It is all just theories by people who only know what is happening to criminals, and the information that television broadcasts to them."

"I see." L nods his head and pops a cube of sugar into his mouth. "Well I suppose that is to be expected with this kind of case. Especially since it is something that the world has never seen before. So they will be throwing around these theories until a conclusion comes out to the public. Even then it is hard to say if everyone will accept the explanation that is given out. Even with the proof some people will still try to argue it. For now we'll do our work." He glances to the others that have been watching and listening to the two. "I have security measures so that we'll know if someone tries to hack our systems. As well as that their attempt will be blocked. We will have to be aware if someone does figure out this building and tries to hack into it to get answers about the case. Though that possibility is a very slim one. I'd say about a four percent chance of happening." He turns around to get back to work as the others turn to do the same.

Light takes his place next to L to also resume in his work into this case.
