Chapter seventeen:

Kyousuke knocks on the door to the hotel room with the rest of the group behind him. He waits then Matsuda opens the door with a smile.

"Hey! Great to see you all. Come on in." Matsuda casually greets and moves aside letting them inside where Misa and those she got into contact with are standing waiting.

The girls are all dressed up in sexy though fashionable outfits as if all set for a magazine photoshoot.

"I see you have filled your end of the deal." Kyousuke nods to this and they all find spots to settle with the girls joining them.

Matsuda closes the door behind them and moves to stand to the side as Misa sits next to Kyousuke in particular in which he gives her a grin. "We have drinks that are both alcohol and nonalcohol. So you have your choice. Just know that I won't let things go too far. I still have to protect my client and her friends."

"Don't you worry about that." This time it is Namikawa Reiji who speaks glancing to Matsuda. "We won't let things go out of control. This is just to have proof. So while we will enjoy ourselves so we can talk about a project tomorrow, we will remain civil."

"I'll trust you on that." Matsuda nods his head to this. "I will go get the drinks and bring them out. He heads to the kitchen doing exactly as he had said he was going to do. He grabs some drinks of different varieties to offer them. He comes back and sees the men distracted with the women so he sets the drinks on the coffee table. He already had set out some chips with little square sandwiches. He glances seeing Misa talking a little quietly to Kyousuke about something then she giggles. He turns away deciding to ignore it for now.

Everything seems to go well as the men and girls are drinking, eating and talking as well as laughing.

Matsuda feels relief at seeing all of this. He does notice that Kyousuke is especially fixated on Misa. He sees Misa glance to him and smile in assurance to him as if to assure him that she is okay. His eyes then meet with Kyousuke who narrows his eyes at him. He turns as Misa turns to him as he whispers something to her. He does catch Misa's eyes slightly widen so he starts to get a little worried.

Misa gets up and walks past him bumping his arm causing him to turn to her. She meets his eyes making him realize what Kyousuke had said. She goes to the kitchen and gets herself a cup of water.

Matsuda has a few drinks to make sure that Kyousuke doesn't get suspicious of him. He takes his time as Misa even goes to say hi to the other men to make sure she gives them some attention as well. He is glad that she is acting as though she hadn't warned him that the man had suggested killing him for her if she wanted. He turns as one of the girls approaches him. "Everything going good?"

"Yeah. I just was wondering if maybe after this you could find another project that I can work with Misa on. I do have one thing I gotta complete before it though." The brunette requests in which Matsuda nods his head.

"Of course. I would be happy to also bring you up in the next project Misa works in. After the one with these guys is done." Matsuda confirms then puts his empty glass down. "Excuse me I'll be right back."

"Yeah. Of course." The brunette nods so Matsuda heads into the bathroom closing the door behind himself.

Matsuda pulls out his phone quickly calling L on the number that was given to him. He gets a pretty quick reply on only the third ring. "One of them mentioned to Misa that he can have me killed if she wants. I am starting to worry that he might be looking to get rid of me for whatever reason."

"Alright. We can't be too careful about that. If he's willing to tell Misa there then there is a chance he might go through with it. Plus since you came to one of their meetings it won't be hard for him to get the others to agree for it to happen. They may fear that you heard something that you weren't supposed to." L tells Matsuda. "And now I need you to do a little something. Wait a few minutes so I can let the others know. Then you are going to pretend to be rather drunk. Try to a handstand on the balcony railing. Slip one of your hands off and fall off. You will be caught. Once you feel your phone vibrate with a text or call everything is set up. You can go ahead and do what I told you to do."

"Okay. I can do that." Matsuda agrees though he feels his heart pounding in his chest remembering how high off the ground they are. He just needs to put trust into L about this since he can get him out of this. He will do what was asked of him. If only to get out of this alive. He hangs up with L and goes to the bathroom before he heads out of the bathroom. He grabs a drink and drinks some more as if taking it easy. He will wait for his phone to go off with a buzz indicating that he got a text. He swallows then puts his drink down and sways a little.

Misa takes notice and approaches. "I told you that you should go a little easy on that." She mentions to him in which he offers her a drunken looking smile.

"Sorry." Matsuda fakes a hiccup before he continues. "I was just so happy that things were going so well. I couldn't help but indulge a little." He sways even more and starts walking past the men who turn to him as he speaks loudly. "Oh man! I am so drunk!" He laughs then goes towards the balcony. "Watch me! I can do the best tricks when I am like this!" He climbs on the railing as some of the men get to their feet as everyone stares in shock at him.

"Hey!" Masahiko shouts to Matsuda. "Get yourself down from there."

"No." Matsuda fakes another hiccup. "Watch. I can do it." He shifts as if about to do a handstand then he pretends his hand slips. He lets out a yelp as he falls over the side hearing a few screams. He is glad that the girls do understand what is going on so it won't affect them badly, though the seem to be good at acting that they don't know. He falls down and shuts his eyes only to hit something soft. He opens his eyes after rolling down the soft thing to solid ground. He looks up as the mattress is pulled out of view then a sand bag is tossed off the side. He follows them into the hotel room to hide as he hears footsteps hurrying on the balcony above past some other ones.

The men stare down and see the fake body laying down on the ground as if Matsuda really had fallen then died.

Watari is quick to be on the phone with L giving some shocked movements as he hovers by the man who is acting as Matsuda's body. He looks up as if trying to understand where he came from then turns away.

The men head back inside.

"We'll stay here for a little bit. Let the authorities handle that." Reiji mentions to everyone getting their attention. He turns to Misa. "I am sorry this had to happen. Once it is a good time we will leave."

"It was an accident." Misa makes her hands look as though they are trembling and she looks away as if she can't believe that this actually happened. "Though thank you for your words."

"We can hold off the project planning to do with you while you deal with all of this." Kyousuke mentions to Misa who slightly glances to him. "Though I can give you a number to contact us on if later you still want to do the project. Even without your agent being there."

Misa nods her head to this. "Thank you. I'll keep that in mind. Just for a little bit I want to focus on things. It'll be tough without my agent there with me." She leans into the embrace of one of the other girls who comes over putting her arms around her. She closes her eyes as if trying to take it all in that she lost her agent that she had worked closely with for at least awhile.

They can hear sirens as the ambulance is driven over and Kyousuke heads over to watch as L and Light, dresses up in official uniforms, come out to check on Matsuda.

Light helps L load the fake Matsuda onto a stretcher. He then checks for a pulse and making sure to change his voice a bit he speaks clearly. "I don't have a pulse."

L speaks clearly as well. "We'll try to revive him on our way to the hospital. Though he is probably already gone. He probably fell from the roof or a higher balcony."

"He stinks of alcohol. Probably an accident or suicide." Light mentions as they get ready to get him taken away.

The two get the fake Matsuda into the ambulance, close the doors and let it drive away with the sirens. They watch as the man pretending to be Matsuda sits up taking off the wig.

"Everyone did perfectly." L mentions as they continue to drive along knowing that they need to keep it as real as possible. "Matsuda will have to lay low for awhile. Though he can just stay in the Headquarters." He mentions in which Light nods his head in agreement to that.
