Chapter eighteen:

Two days later… Misa is in her room with Matsuda and Soichiro who are standing with her. "Wow." She blinks at Matsuda. "I know I was in on the whole thing. But it still is strange to see him standing here alive after what had happened."

Matsuda rubs the back of his head. "Yeah. Sorry about that. Things just got a bit out of hand is all."

"It is okay. I understand why you did what you did." Misa waves it off. "The good news is that they still want to do a project. So I can still spy on them for you." She offers though Soichiro looks worried. She can tell that he is going to protest about her doing this. So she decides to say something. "I actually think I know who it is too." She seems them perking up in interest upon hearing this. "The way that he spoke to me and focused on me. I think it is Kyousuke. He told me he could have anyone I wanted killed. That it'd be so easy. Let me go through with this job. I can take another member of your group if you want for my agent. I just think I can get through to him and get information."

"Just act like you need to. And do accept their job. We need to pretend like there wasn't anything that was secretly going on. Plus we don't want to get in the way of you making any money or doing any part of your job." Soichiro tells Misa who nods her head in agreement to be doing this. "Just don't try to push anything. I want to discuss things with the rest of the group before we make any big moves."

"I understand. Though if a chance does come up where it won't be suspicious I will get what I can for you." Misa informs them with a smile. "Other than that if the opportunity doesn't end up coming up then I won't do anything. At least not until you contact me with the next steps to take."

"Okay. Just don't go seeking for an opportunity." Soichiro informs her and Misa once again nods her head to him. "Though I understand that it seems that the one that you suspect may be Kira does seem to be willing to be close to you. The way that he spoke to you. Just remember to not go looking for things."

"I won't. As an informant I promise that I will only take advantage of anything that presents itself. Other than that I will remain out of trouble." Misa swears to them glad that she is easily able to be hide that she already has the proof. She is excited for when she will be able to reveal the secret recording that she has already gotten. "I will wait for you guys to contact me."

"Thank you so much." Soichiro shakes hands with Misa then Matsuda does the same thing before the two turn to leave. "We will be in contact. You do what you need to do. Just let us know if something comes up like you might need protection." He decides to tell her as a last thing before they leave, plus he is letting Matsuda have time to put on a disguise just in case anyone in the group comes by. "We will always be available to help you out. Once we decide what to do you will hear from us. Even if we don't want you to do anything. Just do what you gotta do just for now pretend you're working to get a new agent. If you need protection then one of our other agents will act as your agent."

"Understood." Misa confirms then waves bye as the two leave after that. She lowers her hand and stares with a serious look on her face. "This is going a bit slowly." She groans and turns away. "I wish that it was going faster." She lets out a breath and smiles to herself. "That is okay though. I know this takes time. It just feels like it'll be awhile before I see him again." She finds herself looking slightly up towards the ceiling daydreaming about L. She thinks about the cute way that he places his thumb on his bottom lip, the way that he sits all curled up as if he had hunkered down wherever he sat, the way his skin is so soft on her lips and hands especially, And she has to stop herself there as she is blushing pretty hard. She is getting a bit carried away in that and she doesn't want to go too far. She heads over to the cupboard where she is hiding the case files that she is also working on. She might as well get herself distracted with the cases that she also has. She wants to get her mind off of L for a bit. At least she has gotten used to seeing the names and numbers over others. She doesn't even really notice them anymore.

Meanwhile at the Kira investigation headquarters…

L is sitting at his seat and finds his mind wandering to Misa and her smiling so beautifully at him. He has never had someone distract him from his work the way that she does. He really wants to see her again real soon. He hears greetings from the others so he turns around to see that Matsuda and Soichiro have arrived back. He begins speaking as Matsuda takes off his disguise. "How did things go?" He questions the two as the room quiets down so that way they can all hear how things had gone.

"Misa believes that the one that we should look into is Kyousuke. Just the way that he was speaking to her. So I do think that we could look into him as a possible suspect." Soichiro informs L and everyone who is here listening in.

"That is a good place to start narrowing things down." L agrees and slightly rubs his thumb on his bottom lip. "We will still be keeping tabs on the others. Though this lead is a good one to try to follow to look into as the next step in our investigation on them. I do believe she wouldn't lie to us about this."

The others mummer in agreement to this and L turns back to his computer and starts to pull up the man's profile to look into him a bit more. The others also get back to work.

AN:

This weekend is going to be really busy. So I decided to make it a little shorter as I got a lot of work to do. Just not too much shorter.
