Chapter twenty:

With the others hearing the recording L has formed a plan to take down the confirmed Kira.

Matsuda sits in the room where the TV interview is going to take place. He shifts as he glances down feeling rather nervous about this idea. Though he knows that L has taken steps to ensure that he will not die. He sees the hostess sit in another chair to join.

The hostess has dark brown hair pulled back into a loose ponytail that goes down to the middle of her back, calm brown eyes, a tight fitting long sleeved white shirt, a neat silky looking black knee length skirt, and black high heels. "Okay. Three, two, one, and we are live!" She announces looking at the camera aimed at them. "Greetings viewers. Today I am joined by a very special guest." She turns to look to Matsuda. "This man who we will not say his name for safety reasons, has come from faking his death to reveal the information he knows about Kira. It is great to have you here." She mentions in which Matsuda nods his head.

"It is great to be here." Matsuda responds then lets the woman speak again.

"How about we start with you telling us how you had figured out who Kira is? Before you announce who is the mysterious Kira."

"Okay." Matsuda agrees and begins telling the story he was told to say. "Well you see I was working with someone who had some clients. During a meeting with them about some work I managed to hear what one of them mentioned to my worker. That I could be killed if the one I work with wanted. So I knew that I had to act fast or I would be no more."

Misa sees that the broadcast has gone live and texts Kyousuke telling him to watch the channel. She makes sure that it sounds like she has no idea why this is happening by implying her shock at seeing the broadcast.

Kyousuke check the broadcast and his eyes widen as he sees Matsuda.

"So I called in a favour from a friend. I pretended to fall off of a high up balcony. Knowing that I needed to get out of that situation." Matsuda continues to explain. "I caught myself on a lower balcony then my friend who was supposed to just pretend to be me on the ground leapt." He pauses as if chocking up in guilt and sadness over what had gone down. "I feel like this information needs to come out." He mentions after regaining his composer. "So my friend's sacrifice, which I don't fully understand why he did it that way, doesn't end up all for nothing. I knew I had to hide for at least a few days before I could come forward though. So I waited until I thought that things blew over. This is actually how I went into hiding during that time."

Kyousuke quickly grabs his death note and pauses realizing that he only knows the mans first name. He growls and hurries to his car quickly driving to the company's building hoping that the file on the project will have Matsuda's full name. He flips through the folder and growls tossing the file to the floor only seeing the first name. He turns to Rem getting an idea. "Rem I wish to trade for the Shinigami eyes." He tells the Shinigami who grants his request. He turns to make sure he has the Death note, not noticing that a spy L had sent comes over by a corner glancing to him before moving out of sight. "I have to get to that TV station before it is revealed that I am Kira." He races to his car and the spy gives L the whispered signal.

L nods and knows that the man that they want is on the move. He flies the helicopter off of the ground and begins heading for the place they plan to ambush him.

"So, you can fly a helicopter." Light mentions from the passenger seat next to the raven haired male and Watari in the back with a gun mounted to the helicopter.

"Yes." L confirms to the brunette next to him. "I learned when I was younger." He uses his free hand to grab something then offers Light a pistol. "Here. You can use this for protection." He knows that they are wearing bullet proof vests though he wants to offer it to the other for added protection.

"No thanks." Light turns away from the weapon as L puts it away where he picked it up from. "I prefer to stay within the legal limits. I don't have any qualifications to use a gun."

"Alright then." L just agrees. "That is noble of you." He keeps his focus on where he is going and the car is spotted heading for the studio. "Okay. Lets move in."

Cop cars that were hidden begin speeding out and towards the target car.

Kyousuke looks in his rear-view mirror and his eyes widen. He tries to pick up speed to get to the station before he is caught by the cop cars. He swears that he can see the station up ahead when suddenly some cop cars pull up in front of him on the bridge. He slams on his breaks and finds his car start to spin a bit. He ends up crashing into a concrete barrier with the passenger door being smashed. He reaches for the death note as officers quickly begin approaching him with L having the helicopter hovering over them. He is yanked out of his car causing him to throw the death note to the ground. He is quickly put into handcuffs and struggles especially when Soichiro picks up the death note that is on the ground.

Soichiro looks up swearing he noticed something. He lets out a small cry finding Rem staring at him. He accidentally tosses the note book and others who are a part of L's group manage to see Rem as they pass it around each other in shock.

Ide gets the note book and hurries over to L to show him what is going on. He hands it to Light first as L lands the helicopter. He turns and heads back to the others eyeing Rem warily.

Light cries out as if in fear in what he sees and L takes the note book.

L looks to Rem remaining calm though knowing he will have to act as if he has never seen her before. "This is an interesting development." He pretends to be too focused on Rem to notice Light pull out a hidden piece of the note book paper. He has to be able to make the right moves to stop Light. He can't risk it just yet as it is a more delicate matter. He has to make sure that the others will truly understand and believe him. So he has to wait until they look at the Death note realizing its powers.

Kyousuke tries to lunge to try to twist his body to grab one of the officers guns. He stumbles as suddenly Watari fires a shot at his arm with a direct hit. His eyes widen as he feels the heart attack start to come upon himself.

Light has finished writing his name and has hidden the piece of the Death note he had used.

Kyousuke collapses quickly dying from the heart attack leaving the others there knowing that there is nothing that they can do. He has been killed by one of the other Kiras.

L sends the signal to the TV show and the broadcast is cut as if it had gotten hacked to be taken down. He is glad that Matsuda has managed to remember the stalling so that the name isn't actually broadcast.

Not yet at least.

Later…

L is sitting in a chair in the headquarters as the others stand before him and Soichiro is holding the Death note.

They've had time to look it over and figure out that this is indeed how Kira has been killing people. They still seem to have some surprise to them as none of them had guessed that the way this happened is because of a Shinigami tool.

"So… Now that we have this what do we do with this?" Matsuda questions glancing from the note book to L. He sees the other has his thumb brushing against his bottom lip.

"Well now we know how the Kiras have been killing. Now we just need to find out who they are." L mentions then glances to Rem who stands in the room with them just watching. "Will you be able to tell us about them?" He notices from the corner of his eye as the others turn to look to Rem.

Rem shakes her head knowing that she cannot reveal things just yet. "No. Sorry. I cannot tell you." She informs them. "It is just something that I cannot share."

"I see." L mentions sounding a little thoughtful. He turns back to his team. "Well why don't you go get some rest?" He suggests to them already having a plan to call everyone but Light to join him back here. "You all have had quite the day. You deserve the rest." He is handed the Death note and the others all head off to go to bed for now.

After everyone is gone too far to not notice, Watari comes in with Misa who has arrived to the building.

L gives the older man a look then said older man nods only to head off to prepare for when to get the others. He looks to Misa who approaches him and the two share a quick kiss before smiling at each other.

The time is approaching rather rapidly.
