A/N: 'Kenric and Fintan never made it out.'

Me: Nooooooooooooooooooo! Kenric is awesome! Why is he dead!

I have finally come up with an alternative, my fellow Kenric fans, 'no reason to worry!'

Also, this one does have an alive Jolie Ruewen, so, that too.

Chapter I

'OW!' Biana yelled as she banged her head on another stalactite.

'Biana!' Fitz hissed in a low voice, 'There might be people!'

'She has a point, Fitz.' Grady told him, 'It's pitch black. Wylie, can you flash some light in here?'

'No, Fitz is right. Ow, fine.' Wylie flashed a large ball of light around the never ending cave as he rubbed his forehead where he had bumped it.

The council had uncovered the location of one of the Neverseen's hideouts, and told Grady, Tiergan, and Alden to take team Valiant along with Fitz, Marella, Linh, Tam, and Maruca to check it out. They were currently in a low cave with stalagmites and stalactite's that were impossible to see in the darkness. There had been no sign of anything so far, except a lot of bats that had gotten stuck in Maruca's hair when they flew out from under a rock she had disturbed.

'Wait a second.' Tam mumbled, 'Move the light to the right a bit Wylie.' Wylie moved the light to reveal several large cracks in the floor. They were all straight and in the shape of a square.

'Found it.' Wylie said, creating another ball of light to flutter around the cave while the first hovered over the square.

'Can we get it out?' Sophie wondered.

'Probably.' Alden kneeled down next to the square and ran his fingers over the edge of the square, 'Here we go.' He murmured as the square of rock slid off to reveal a wooden door.

'Should we go in?' Linh asked, looking around at everyone that was gathered around the trapdoor.

'I vote yes.' Said Biana.

'I vote no.' Said Maruca, 'There might be more bats.'

'I vote no as well.' Dex decided, looking at the hole.

'I vote yes.' Said Linh, 'And even if there are Neverseen members down there, there are, what, 12 of us? We've got to outnumber them.'

'I'm going in. You guys can come if you want to.' Sophie told them, undoing the latch of the trapdoor and opening it.

'I'm coming!' The other eleven yelled. Sophie pulled open the door and stuck her down in it.

'Clear. Someone should stay out here.'

Naturally, nobody wanted to. Eventually they decided to leave Grady by the trapdoor.

'We'll leave the door open. Shout if anything happens.' Alden said, wiggling himself into the hole after Sophie.

'Some hideout.' Tam remarked, looking around at the hallway. There were two doors on either side, and it was dimly lit by several balls of light that Wylie was hovering near the ceiling.

'Why don't we go look through those doors. There might be something useful.' Fitz said, walking over to the closest door and trying the knob.

'Why not?' Marella tried the other knob. 'Locked.'

'This one's not.' Tiergan said, watching as Fitz disappeared through the unlocked door.

There was a shriek, and Fitz flew back through the door, looking as if he'd seen a ghost. 'You guys have to see this.'

'Smooth, Fitz.' Biana said, looking through the door, 'Oh, man, he's right.' Everybody raced to the spot where the two siblings were standing.

Two figures were slumped against the back wall of the room with their hands shackled. Their faces weren't visible underneath their long, dirty, matted hair, but they were both clearly unconscious. They were both skinny, likely from lack of nourishment, but one had much shorter hair that was bright red underneath all of the dirt, and the other had light blonde hair. Tiergan was the first to enter the room. He flipped the red head's hair off his face.

'Someone hail Elwin or Livvy. Right now.'

'Who is it?' Someone in the back asked.

'Councilor Kenric.'

Hearing the fact confirmed, everyone began talking at once.

Sophie entered the room after Tiergan and brushed the hair off the blonde's face. Biana followed here for a closer look.

'Someone find Grady.' Biana said, turning around with wide eyes.

Wylie pulled out his imparter as he walked to the trapdoor. 'Grady! We've found- well, it's probably best you see yourself.' He scooted backwards as Grady dropped through the hole. 'Show me Elwin.' He mumbled to the imparter. Nothing happened.

Sophie was feeling Kenric's wrist for a pulse. It was there, beating steadily.

'I hate to say it.' Said Wylie, but someone's going to have to light leap out of here to find Elwin or Livvy. I can't get a hold of Elwin, and I'm pretty sure the problem's on my end.'

'I'll go.' Fitz said, pulling out a pathfinder and holding it up to the light. 'Meet me at Everglen.'

Fitz ran up Elwin front stairs and knocked on the door as loud as he could.

Elwin answered almost immediately. 'Fitz? What's happened this time?'

'We found some people in the Neverseen hideout. They're supposed to be dead, but instead they're only mostly dead.'

'Who?'

'Kenric Fathdon and Jolie Ruewen.'

'But their dead.'

'That's what I said, they were kidnapped in the middle of those fires when no one was looking, and-'

'Are they conscious?' Elwin was looking more concerned by the second.

'No. Come on, we're supposed to meet everyone at Everglen.'

'Okay, okay, I need you to find a few people for me, okay?'

'Yeah, who?'

'Edaline, Livvy, Quinlin, Councilor Bronte, and Councilor Oralie.'

'Why-'

'No questions, just go. Also, Keefe might be useful.' Elwin ran his fingers through his hair and pulled a pathfinder out of his pocket. Fitz watched the physician shimmer away, before he pulled out his own pathfinder and leapt to Eternalia.

Elwin landed right outside the gates of Everglen, he could tell that everyone was already there, the gate was wide open and there was a flurry of activity inside. He entered the property and was immediately nearly run over by Wylie Endal, who skidded to a stop the minute he saw Elwin.

'Elwin, you're here! Kenric and Jolie are over there, so's Grady, he blacked out- well, fainted might be a better word, and knocked his head pretty hard, he's still out cold.' Wylie grabbed Elwin's hand and dragged him towards the three patients. Kenric and Jolie still both looked terrible and Grady had a lump on his head. Elwin dropped to her knees next to Kenric and flashed a ball of green light around him, pulling his glasses out of his pocket.

'Just what I thought.' Elwin mumbled.

'What did you think?' Dex asked him.

'They're in a special kind of sleep.' Elwin explained, 'They don't need food or water, and they don't need as much air. You can stay in this kind of sleep for- I think the record is fifty-three years.'

'And then you die?' Marella asked.

'No, that person woke up after 53 years.'

'How do you wake someone up?' Wylie was chewing his bottom lip in concentration.

'It's… complicated. You need several flashers, several telepaths, an empath, an enhancer, a mesmer, and a shade. It's a somewhat complicated process, but I've done it before. But, since we can do that any time and nothing will be different, I'm going to get Grady into ship-shape first, because, as I said, we need a mesmer.' Elwin stepped over Kenric to flash some orange light around the lump on Grady's head.

So, not exactly alive…

I'll update really soon, I promise.
