Chapter 15 Two-Faced, Reversing the roles

DPOV

A loud buzzing makes us all stop what we are doing. Searching for it Ivan finds it. Recognizing the cover I see it is Christian's cellphone. Motioning for us to be quiet he answers with a tinge of darkness to his voice. 'Da?' there is a loud screech. A voice on the other side is panicking. 'CHRISTIAN! CHRISTIAN! DON'T YOU HURT HIM! JESSY YOU BASTARD YOU WERE SUPPOSED TO GET THAT PUP! VICTOR SAID HE HAD CONTROL OVER YOU!' Gritting my teeth I do my best not to snarl. As a reflex, I grab Rose by her arm pulling her towards me. With our eyes, we are having a silent conversation. She wants to take it from Ivan and Demand Oleg back. All the hurt Lissa has inflicted upon Rose has reached a boiling point.

The mother inside her demands revenge. What she has to understand is that we have leverage now. With the use of our captive, we can bargain. It is clear now that Jessy is working with Victor. For whatever reason, she chose to work for a criminal. He seemed to have manipulated her the way he did with Natalie. How hard it is we can't interfere or let our presences be known. Ivan nods at me understanding what is at risk, then at Christian with his right hand he forms a gun. His plan might work, as long as they don't know who he is. Speaking in Russian he threatens her with things I am not going to repeat to Rose. He makes it so that Victor owes him not mentioning a name. Staying as vague as possible by telling her that ''the boss" will know. Someone is bound to have done that asshole a favor. He was known to use the resources of other mobsters without paying.

He would just dispose of them or promise a part of the profit. Best way to get the upper hand however is blackmail. Even mister Dashkov wasn't that powerful. Only one man has that power he is a true snake. If we can trick her then she might help us unknowing getting our son back. But in order to be one step ahead, we need information. Is she willing to do anything to get her precious husband back? Then we get a lucky break 'Donovan is that you? What does Boris want this time? I told him he gets his cut as soon as I get my empire.' Rose her fingers are latching on to my arm. Those are going to leave some bruises. Closing her eyes she trying to restrain herself. While I look calm on the inside I am boiling too. But this is a good thing, the right choice to make. If Ivan can convince him then we have a real chance. Gently grabbing her chin I tilt her head. Kissing her jaw I slowly move to her ear. Whispering softly to distract her 'Almost Milaya, I am so proud of you. We need to trust him to do this. Sometimes an angel falls, what they forget is that crippling it will only make it stronger. We don't need an army. When we are smarter than them. Their payment is due Roza.'

'As long as I get to come along' rolling my eyes playfully at her she grins. 'I figured that was a given. Sticking out her tongue at me I am happy to see a little bit of the old Rose. We both need to heal but every smile is a step in the right direction.

Ivan his conversation is ended abruptly. Understand why but to others it may look strange. It does have to seem like "Donovan" has lost his patience after all. Rubbing his temples he lets out a sigh of relief. 'That was more luck than wisdom. Really took a chance there Dimitri. Thank you for trusting me in this.'

We start discussing our options when we are yet again interrupted. Almost forget he was in the room. Sitting next to him I ask him the same question as before. Disorientated Christian looks around like he can't remember what happened. Tugging on his arm he grimaces. He first looks at me then Rose, finally at Ivan. Something seems to become clear as his pupils blow up the size of golf balls. 'No no, I had him hidden, what happened? Dammit, Lissa..' That's when he burst into tears making us all feel awkward. 'She wasn't like this before.' Snif..sniff.. sobbing is all he manages to get out for a few minutes. 'I love her, she is everything to me. Just thought if she had some closure she would forget all about it. No one was supposed to get hurt. THWACK!' With pursed lips, Rose stands there with her breathe heaving. I recognize that look in her eyes. Clenching her fist she is trying not to show she is feeling sorry for him. In her mind, she is summing up all the things that will make her hate him again.

Sighing I run my fingers through my hair. What a fucking mess! He is just a puppet, she used his love for her against him. He had nothing left, so she became his queen. Punching the wall I go right through the cement. Wait… I am not supposed to be able to do that. Tearing it apart I can see it is hollow behind it. A big metal door is behind it, grabbing my mobile phone I use it as a torch. Searching for a handle or something to open it. With my right hand, I feel some sort of texture on it. 'YEBAT' cursing I feel a prick. Flashes blind me making me lose focus for a moment. An automated voice starts to speak 'Please identify yourself or receive a deadly shock' frowning I just stare at it. Counting down from 10 sparks are beginning to cover the surface. Do I say my name? What the hell is this! 'DIMITRI BELIKOV!'

Closing my eyes I prepare for the worst. When nothing happens I open one eye carefully. Whoever created this made sure to keep the wrong person out. Doing my best to not make any sudden movements I start to examine it. The electricity has seemed to have disappeared. 'Confirmed, Belikov, Dimitri, your voice shows you are not being forced. It is safe to take to the device.' A small compartment opens as soon as the computer is finished speaking. Taking it I see it is a simple burner phone. Upon opening it right away it starts to dial a number. Putting it to my ear I feel Rose tugging at my shirt. Placing my finger on my lips I signal her to stay silent. Huffing I see her think for a moment.

Reluctantly she sits down, not without pouting like a small child. The corners of my mouth twitch. Oh, how I have missed that. Her quirks, tantrums when she doesn't get what she wants. Not playing fair bribing me with sexual favors. Memories of our past together flood through my mind like an avalanche. The first time I saw her walking down the street. Trying not to look like a creeper observing her. Seeing my chance when she dropped her coffee. Our first date where I surprised her by cooking. Chasing her down the gym when she stole my shirt. Pinning her on the mat where we had our first kiss.

Lovemaking in the shower, washing each other tenderly. Catching her sniff my shirt. Purposely spraying my cologne on the pillow for her. Sweet messages she left every morning on the fridge. Especially since she anything but a morning person. Competitions during our runs together. When I let her win just so I could admire the way her body moved. Then she demanded another race cause she figured out she didn't actually beat me. A tear rolls down my cheek, it is the first time I feel like myself again. A pair of arms gently wrap around me. Burying her head into my chest I feel her warmth. 'Ya tye bya lyublyu Roza, please forgive me for forgetting you.' Her grip tightens, looking up her eyes are wet. 'There is nothing to forgive Comrade. We are stronger than them all. Together we will find the light that they have stolen from us.'

Calming myself I hold on to those memories. Those are going to be the torch that will guide me out of the darkness. My heart beats a little faster when I hear a voice coming from the other side. 'PAPA, PAPA!' clenching my fist I realize this the moment I have been dreading. Some twisted game is about to start I didn't want to play. In order to get him home safely, I need to follow the rules. It still has to sound like I am desperate which basically I still am. Cause if the other plan fails we still have nothing. That what happened minutes ago I have to pretend to have no knowledge of. Detective Belikov this time won't be present. I don't need a miracle to save Oleg, I need a snake.
